“It won’t be far now.” Kialio said as he looked back to the lioness following him. This was the second time they met, though it had been much more intentional. He had showed Indivar the gorge the day before, and taken her to look at pride rock, though she certainly already knew it. At that point, it had gotten late enough that they’d had to split.
But Kialio wouldn’t just say ‘show you around’ and leave out one of the nicest sights in the pridelands! So the very next day he had sought out the mistweaver once again, to continue being her friendly pridelander guy, and show her somewhere else. It was already afternoon now, because, as usual, mornings were spent with his offspring. “I assure you, it’s really cool!” He grinned dumbly.

Their first day of exploration had been rather enjoyable so when Kialio had asked her to meet him again, she happily obliged. She hadn't met very many of her new pride's inhabitants but the few she had actually taken the time to get to know (a little) made the transition from being a rogue and a stranger to being a pride member much easier and for that she was thankful.
"Where are we going?" She asked when he told her it wasn't much further. She didn't mind the travel, she didn't like not having some idea of where they were headed. They had been walking for quite a while and Indivar's patience was wearing down. "I swear," she mumbled, "we've been walking for ages." She didn't mean to complain but Kialio had come across as being very excited and eager to take her to this mystery place and she found that she didn't like the mystery part of it.
"Well I'm holding you to it," she told him, pretending to give him a threatening look. "It better be amazing after all this wandering."

Just as he had the last time Indivar asked, Kialio said "You'll see!" and kept on walking. He new it was a bit of a long walk southeast, but the dark lion surely hoped it would be worth it. He tried to keep cheerful, but was worrying a little about irritating her.
But at least her spirits didn't seem too low, if she could joke at him. "Or else what?" He turned and stuck his tongue out, then glanced ahead. Aha! They were very close. "Come on, follow me!" And though they had been walking for a while, he didn't seem to have any issue with bounding ahead.
He passed first through a few bushes, then they got into one of the more wooded areas of the pridelands. There he slowed back down to a walk, so Indivar could rejoin him. These little woods that dotted the svannah weren't quite like the jungle she had been born in, but... well, more trees wasn't the only reason he had brought her here.

Indivar frowned when he, once again, told her that she just needed to wait and see. "Fine," she replied though she was clearly pouting, even if she didn't realize it. She kept her head down as they moved forward because she was trying not to think too much about how much more time they might spend walking.
Her head snapped up when he called her on her empty threat. She gave him a look, one that would aquate to an "you wanna challenge me" look and shook her head. "You'll see," she replied, "unless you impress me of course, which really you should hope for because you don't want to know what or else means," she warned though her threat was empty. Of course her composure gave none of that away.
She followed him, curious as to what he wished to show her. She tilted her head slightly in confusion, "is this it?"

"Is this it," He parroted, cheerfully. "No, it's not. Listen." He smiled at her, then continued to trot through the woods. It wasn't the loudest, but the sound of something rushing and crashing was unmistakeable, if you kept quiet for a bit. Kialio jut kept on moving, stepping around bushes and jumping over a fallen tree.
It didn't take much longer t reach his objective, especially with a quickening pace. "I... thought you might like it." He said, once he arrived, and thought she had caught up with him. "Whenever I imagined your birthlands," He carefully avoided the word 'home', because Kialio worried he might make her think the pridelands weren't her home now. "I imagined one of these. But bigger."
Still, the waterfall was a great sight to see.

Indivar had a look on her face directed at Kialio that completely, without doubt, said "I am not pleased." Her lips were set in a frown, eyes narrowed slightly and her eyebrows scrunched together. It was the kind of look her hoped to never see from a stranger because it probably meant they were gonna mess you up. It wasn't until she could hear the sound of rushing water that her features softened to an expression that was a mixture of "oh" and sadness.
It almost seemed like her face had fallen as her ears began lay back against her head, her scowl vanishing then replaced by a softer frown, her brow creasing slightly also arching up. She hurried forward, perhaps trying to avoid her new...friend...fully seeing her expression to take in all that was the waterfall. She sucked in a breath and the exhale almost sounded like a sigh as her eyes swept over the magnificent sight.
"It's perfect," she mumbled quickly looking down as she had a pang of homesickness.

He was initially a bit distracted by admiring the waterfall himself to notice Indivar's change, but once he did... well. Kialio had sort of expected a different reaction, one that was more clearly pleased. He frowned, brows quirking upwards and ears laying back.
"What's wrong? Do you hate it? I'm sorry, I..." He began, then stopped himself before he began blabbering about like a fool. The dark male took a few steps closer, head low as he tried to catch her eyes. He hadn't meant for her to fall bad! Kialio wanted to please her, that was all.

Indivar didn't realize at first that her reaction would be taken so poorly, if only because she had been focused upon hiding her sadness, even when it was mixed with happiness. It was difficult, because it was so perfect but at the same time it was nearly heartbreaking. She almost couldn't handle how much the waterfall had made her think of home, and it was then that she realized she would never stop missing the mist. The pridelands were a good replacement but nothing would ever fully replace the pride of her birth.
"No," she told him quickly, her voice inaudible. "No," she said again, voice clearer and louder. "Don't be sorry," she told him, head snapping up in his direction. "It's perfect," she assured him. She had said as much earlier but it was lost in her quietness.
"Thank you."

Despite her words, Kialio wasn't quite convinced. It was a little hard to be convinced at this point that she really was happy, and he felt rather bad. "I thought you might like to know there was a... well, a place that might be more familiar. I guess it didn't..." He trailed off, and glanced back at the waterfall, then at her.
"Have the effect I was hoping for." He smiled sheepishly. "Would you like to go?"

She laughed, it was a soft laugh and probably not something Kialio had expected as far as a response went. For a lioness who seemed to be fairly uptight and serious it was almost a strange thing to see her laugh. "Stop it," she insisted moving over to the dark male. "Really, stop freaking," she told him reaching out a paw to tap him on the nose. "I love it."
She stepped back, a small smile on her maw as she looked at him. "Really, it's perfect," she assured him once again. "I know my reaction wasn't...what you expected but I promise that I really do love it. It just reminded me of birth pride and while I love the pridelands it is my home now it made me feel a little homesick."
She shook her head, mildly ashamed of this statement. "I did not mean to worry you."

He knitted his eyebrows uncertainly, but ultimately managed to let out a nervous laugh. Okay, if she was sure she was fine! "It's alright! I can understand." He couldn't really relate, honestly, but Kialio could understand. He figured if he ever left his home, he'd miss it too, and reminders might make him a little sad.
"Do you want to go, or would you rather stay a while?" He asked again. Personally, Kialio wouldn't mind taking a little walk beneath the falling waters, but he would only do whatever she was more comfortable with.

Indivar could tell that he was still uncertain and she couldn't help but laugh lightly. "Really Kialio, I promise," she assured him again though it was probably moot point at this point. She looked away from him and back over to the waterfall, carefully considering his question.
She swallowed, stepped toward him and nodded towards the falls. "I think I would like it if we'd stayed for a while," she told him. She nudged him lightly before stepping forward, the physical contact incredibly brief. "Come sit by it with me, I think it would be nice to just...relax by the water. The sounds of the water are always soothing."

He nodded and chuckled. "Alright, alright!" He'd stop worrying about it, or make a larger effort to.
Nonetheless, Kialio was glad for the invitation, and it did ease his spirits. He took a few steps and followed her to the bank, and for some reason began to feel a little embarrassed. Like a kid, but he didn't quite know why or in what way. He sat down and didn't look entirely relaxed and kneaded the dead leaves and sand beneath his paws. "It is." He agreed. "I like it."

As a former mist walker Indivar was sensitive to other's emotions, though she cleverly masked most of her own, and as such she could sense his sudden discomfort. Confusion crossed her features as she settled on her belly and looked over at the dark lion sitting beside her. She studied his expression silently before choosing to speak.
"Kialio," she began, her expression softened to one just lightly tinted with concern. "Is something wrong?" She asked tilting her head and letting her ears lean back towards her skull. "You seem...uneasy."

Oh great. "Nope! nothing is wrong. I think. I don't know why I'm... seeming uneasy? I feel good." He did feel good! But also weird, which Kialio was unaccustomed to. Oh well, it would pass. Right? "How are you feeling?" He asked, sounding chipper.
"See, I'm fine." He said, then sat up far straighter than usually, and fell onto his back. "Look, happy relaxed Kialio." He grinned.
