En Gedi Metaplot II
Meta Phases:
1 ... “Hate’s Curse”
Open to rogues and contest characters only! Nelly has seen that the En Gedi is left without its guardian god, Li Wei, but the blessing around the lands remains behind, preventing him from setting foot within the territory. However, there are many rogues in the area, all burdened with a seed of contention, that he can use in his stead. These rogues begin feeling unusually resentful of the pride that had only just recently taken control of the Blue Nile Falls area. They feel themselves drawn to the same meeting place and discuss what’s to be done about these invaders…

2 … “A shadow of a threat”
One of the pride’s scouts has noticed an unusually large group of rogues gathering at the border of the pride. When the group begins moving in, the scout raises a call of alarm. The warriors are forced to respond to defend their pride against this incoming threat. This rp is open to En Gedi members only and will begin with the call to arms and end with waiting for the rogues at the border.

3 … “Clash”
The rogues and the pride members meet head to head on the border. Here words can be exchanged but now that the warriors have set foot outside of their lands, the rogues have the upper-hand with their god’s curse clinging to their hearts. A conflict breaks out. During this battle, the goddess of messengers oversees the chaos and flees to warn Li of the threat.

4 … “The Stand”
Li returns swiftly but remains weak from granting his blessing to a distant pride. Winded, exhausted, and impulsive, the god tries to stand himself between the warring sides of the conflict. This is the chance the rogues have been waiting for! Li is hardly a fighter and just the smell of blood is enough to weaken him. The rogues use this to their advantage and cast the godling aside and make their assault on the pride’s king, Rotem. The rogues easily over-power the tiny god of peace and leave his broken body in the dust and turn their angry gaze on the now rattled En Gedi pride. However…something starts to come over them. Even broken and battered, Li’s presence is a calming one and begins to conflict with the rage seething within the rogues. (We may or may not have Nelly participating in this part of the meta. This is where things will start to go a little more freestyle. We’ll update this section if Shinos’ personal life can calm enough for her to participate!)

RP 2:
OOC Info:
◘ This RP is for native En Gedi members. Scouts, warriors, and the royalty will be the primary players but feel free to pull in any of your pride members! cubs and lionesses will likely be asked to move into the center of the pride's lands to keep out of harm's way.

◘ There is no posting order and there is no set format. The first roleplay is set shortly after Nelly’s curse has been placed over the rogues in the area. Ideally, this interaction will involve all the contest characters and joining rogues banning together and naming a leader or leaders among them to begin their invasion. There will be an in-pride RP responding to the incoming threat shortly after.

◘ This rp will be open for a few weeks, or as long as it takes for things to feel complete. Please be sure to check back frequently so we can get this going at a decent pace!

◘ Please note that the pride is blessed with Peace’s Prosperity. This prevents any gods that hold a domain that could harm the pride (plague, famine, etc.) from entering. You can play a god in this situation, and you can play an evil domain but they’ll have to keep their distance from the territory.

◘ The plot format is very loose! If you have an idea you’d like to toss in please PM the mule and we’ll be glad to discuss it.

Mornings always came far too soon for the middle-aged king. Just when his spot warmed up enough, just when his queen settled enough to breathe evenly, just when he finally found the right position for his paw under his head the sun peeked through the mouth of the den and glared into his eyes. It was ignored most days and he would bring a paw up to shield his eyes, but soon the activity of the pride was too intrusive to even the deepest of slumbers. Surrounding his attempts at rest, Rotem rose up and stretched his back out in a long, sweeping motion. His hind legs kicked out one at a time and a shift in position allowed him to stretch his front paws out in front of him. Another morning.

--

Just outside the den, Jaron sat in wait. His father had taken to requesting his presence at nearly every moment during the day. The old man had some life left in him still, but he was determined to show his son and heir the ways of the pride. Following Eyal’s disappearance, many of Rotem’s casual mannerisms had grown hard. At least around his son. He was learning to fight, learning to be a diplomat, learning how to interact with the other members of the pride and settle disputes. It was all well and good but Rotem had made frequent references to having decided on a lady for him. Jaron, well known for his love of ladies, was a little intimidated by the thought of being tied down…especially to a female he didn’t know.

“Come on, old man.” He called over his shoulder. “Daylight’s burning away.”

--

A good ways away, Abel and his companion, Aharon were just leaving the falls and making their way into the heart of the pride. The warriors were due to take the night shift’s position and allow the night watch to have some rest. Aharon was less enthusiastic than his pale companion. Mornings were hard on the gangly warrior but Abel seemed to adore them. The sky’s colors, the fresh air, the morning calls of the birds around them. It was fantastic.

“I don’t know how you do it…” Aharon yawned, his voice still groggy from a restless night.

“Do what?” Abel replied with a smirk. “Wake up?”

“That.”

“A good splash of cold water in the morning and getting to bed in time helps… I saw you last night.”

“You try sleeping with a vulture in your den.” Aharon grumbled.

[Talia] was an early riser of sorts.

The young lioness was usually up before the sun's earliest rays streaked the sky, as that, in her mind, was the best time to hunt. Early bird gets the worm and all that. She preferred to go on her own, although it meant taking down smaller prey. In a way, the process of the hunt was soothing and comforting to the half wild lady. It was a chance to work, to explore, to think, and to generally get lost in the quaint and comfortable atmosphere of the pride territory in which she had been raised. Sure, she wasn't En Gedi by blood, but that didn't really matter.

Her pale pelt seemed to shimmer as the sun's early light danced across her lithe, slender frame. From her maw hung the still hot corpse of an unfortunate, fat hare. It's legs dangled and hot blood dripped down it's soft fur, stemming from the bite wounds that had torn it's throat.

The morning was starting off pleasantly enough and she was proud of her kill, which shown in the way she held her head and the eagerness in her step as she made her way from the pride's outskirts. Nothing in particular had happened thus far, or at least from what she had noticed, and she was eager to drop off her kill and get back to work. If anything could be said about the hardheaded, pushy female, it was that she threw herself into her tasks wholeheartedly.

Ikenna performed his morning routine just as he had for the past few years; lounging about near the pool after his own hunt of scrawny game. The old lion preferred to his own hunting and grew very crabby when anyone offered to do it for him. Most have likely heard the "back in my day" speeches and the "keeps me healthy" side notes from him. He was no where near as spry as he used to be and thus only able to catch the slowest of the prey.

Ikenna's golden eyes looked up from his sickly rabbit to see if any of the other whipper-snappers were awake yet. Back in his day all the lions were up and ready to go BEFORE the sun's light even peeked over the horizon. In fact, they were up so early it was barely even the new day! ... or was that a select few? Regardless Ikenna was sure it was earlier than when these youngins did. Early bird gets the worm, but the early lion gets the bird before it gets the worm!

The old lion grumbled something incoherently before returning to his meal.

Astar was usually an early riser though her sister seemed to have beaten her today. Even her totem, the dark wild dog Kuma had left for the borders before the patched lioness had left her den this particular morning. With a yawn, the young lioness stretched lazily and watched as the sky grew lighter before she decided it was time to work. She had been talking to a small group of huntresses for only a few moments and getting ready to depart when she noticed the pale shape of her sister moving closer to their location with a hare in her mouth. She left the small group at once with a small apology and a promise to return, quickly making her way towards Talia.

“Hey!” he called to the pale lioness, beaming as she stepped closer to give her a friendly rub. “Good hunting, I see.”

Talia was happy to see her sister, which was clear in the sudden pep in her step as she helped to close the gap between herself and Astar. She plopped the still warm hare on the dusty ground at her paws and rumbled happily as she and her sister exchanged a greeting rub.

"Eya, it's fairly good out! You headed out with the group? I reckon ya'll will get a good haul." She loved her sister very dearly and, though she didn't often outright say it, she was quite proud of how well she hunted. In fact, the competition was great fun and she was partially tempted to see if she could tag along for a second go 'round, now that Astar was awake.

"Sleep well?"

Ahava was up before sunrise, as was always the case with her. She lounged in a low lying tree wondering about her brother. She had gone about her morning training as always, but now she rested waiting for the other's to rise and for morning duties to began. Her totem was asleep as well and she currently did not feel the need to wake him.

Ahava watched as the other's gathered enjoying watching the pride wake. It was always such a nice change of pace from how busy she usually kept herself.

She noticed Astar down below and smile, "good morning," she called to the other's.

“Yeah, we’re almost leaving, just waiting for a scout to finish talking to the head huntress.” Astar replied cheerily, green eyes bright with eager enthusiasm. She chuckled when her sister asked her if she’d slept well. “Always.”

A familiar voice caught her attention and she turned to face her former hunting mentor. Her smile widened almost instantly but her tone was calmer and showed more respect when she spoke.

“Good morning.” She hadn’t heard anything regarding Ahava as being part of the small hunting party but perhaps the lioness would join them. “Will you be joining the hunting group? We’ll be leaving soon.” She felt rather close to the older lioness who had given her first hunting lessons and helped Astar improve her skills during a time when she had still been plagued by doubt and confusion. She liked showing Ahava that the time they’d spent together hadn’t been a waste of time and nothing said “success” like proudly holding a fresh-killed gazelle by the neck.

Kuma
Kuma was nearing the center of the pride, seeking his companion. He'd gone to the border and back rather quickly, not happy to be separated from the lioness. The wild dog was seriously considering changing his job... but it was undeniable that the lionesses were better suited for hunting and he could better serve the pride as a Scout. He sighed. Maybe he could help herd the prey towards the lionesses. That might work. He'd have to discuss it with the the head huntress, of course, but she was approachable enough for him to test the waters with his request. Surely, she'd understand how difficult it was to have a great distance between a lioness and her totem on a daily basis.

Ahava looked at Astar one of her favorite lioness, for the female had trained with Ahava when she was young and trained hard. Ahava had grown quite fond of her and was quite happy to see her this morning.

She made her way out of the tree and over to Astar, "yes I will be going with group this morning. I was just waiting for everyone to arrive. Do you know who went to speak to the head huntress this morning?"

It was a simple enough question that would help to judge how quickly they would be leaving. A more experience scout gave a quicker explanation.

“Sorry, no.” The patched lioness replied, wishing she could give the other lioness more information. “The group was already formed when I got here. So we’ll be hunting together again today.” The pleased expression was hard to miss.

“Talia, do you remember Ahava? She was my hunting tutor for a while.” The young lioness looked at her sister before turning to the older lioness again. “I think you’ve met before, but this is my sister Talia.” In all honesty, the two lionesses looked nothing alike so few would assume their parentage after one look. “Oh look, Kuma is here, too.”

-------------

A dark shape, smaller than the ones that were gathering at the center of the pride, weaved through the lionesses in order to reach the patched green-eyed girl. His head was held high, a sign that the black wild dog had long grown accustomed to being around the larger predators.

“Astar. Are you going hunting?” the totem asked as he reached his companion, taking his place by her side. “I was near the northern borders, not much prey in sight.” The wild dog did not look concerned. From the moment he’d arrived, the lands of the En Gedi had never failed to provide the pride with a constant stream of herds. “Is the head huntress here?”

"Oh come now, it can't be so bad." Abel chuckled. Poor Aharon. The lion never seemed to get a break. Misfortune trailed on his heels and a storm cloud hovered over his head. He was a decent warrior but an awkward one. He'd yet to really gain the attentions of another female but they were still young.

He raised his head and gave his companion a slight nudge. "Hey, looks like the huntresses are up."

"Hm?" Aharon lifted his gaze and tilted his head a bit. Eyal's sister... Ahava? That seemed right. He nodded his head a little and glanced between the younger lionesses gathering.

"Come on." Abel broke into a confident trot and behind him Aharon jolted slightly and picked up his own pace. Where the pale-pelted lion greeted the huntresses with a wide smile, Aharon's maw twisted into a tight, uncomfortable attempt at the same expression.

"Ladies!" Abel called out. "A good morning to you."

---

"Call me old one more time and I'll tie your tail around your head." Rotem gave his son a playful jab to his shoulder and began down from the main denning area towards the lake. Ikkena, one of the oldest members, was sitting by his lonesome while the youngsters were beginning to gather for their respective duties. They weren't exactly pressed for time so a short detour wouldn't hurt anyone.

"If you could catch me." The prince returned with a smirk. "I don't know if those legs of yours are up to the task."

"Ah then you're buying into my clever ruse."

"Oh sure." Jaron rolled his eyes and corrected his posture as they approached the elder-sage. "Ikenna, looks like you've been busy this morning."

"Ah, how could I forget?"

The white and tan lioness dipped her head respectfully to her patchy sister's former tutor, one who while she had never been particularly close to, she greatly admired. In fact, there were hardly any she didn't admire, but that was beside the point. Never had she imagined, when they were lean and hungry as cubs, that they would land in such a peaceful and loving community.

"Kuma, good to see you." And just where had her own totem gotten off to? She'd not seen her since they parted, before dawn. Probably out near the water, fishing. The young osprey had a difficult time settling in to sticking to the pride, instead of migrating further north, but the pair were thick as thieves and she had to admit to herself that she slightly missed the feathered fisher's companionship.

Her thoughts were jerked away quickly, however, as Abel's voice rang out, crystal clear.

"Good morning! How fair the pair of you, hn?" Talia's smile was an easy one as the brothers approached.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 16, 2012 3:21 pm

The patched lioness nodded when her totem spoke and then looked over her shoulder to answer his last question.

“She’s that way.” She told him with a very light frown, hoping he would stick around for a while. She always felt better when he was close. Astar was about to ask him if he was going to go find the head huntress when a voice caused her to turn her head.

“Good morning.” Astar replied pleasantly. She was smiling but she took one step closer to her sister and sat down as the black wild dog started walking away, her muscles tensing up just a little.

----------------

“Hello, Talia.” Kuma said with a friendly smile. He’d known the pale lioness for almost as long as he’d known Astar and he was rather quite fond of the cheerful lioness. Astar had always looked up to her sister and the two were quite close so, naturally, he knew the lilac-eyed huntress and her totem very well. Kuma looked in the direction Astar had pointed him to and started walking in that direction. He looked at the older lioness next. "Good morning."

“I’m just going to have a quick word with her.” He almost regretted his decision when he saw her tense up but thankfully Astar was not nearly as shy and she’d once been and she could rely on her sister. So he nodded at the male lions briefly before picking up the pace.

Gray steely socked paws padded the large black Lion toward the watering hole, the tan back of a familiar senile Elder Lion. Grumbling to himself as usual, azure eyes rolled as he could mentally hear that it had to be something about his youth-and how 'cubs today, had no respect anymore.' And his little kill. A warm breath seeped in to the lifeless neck of gazelle he had dragged under his his large white and silver chest. For it's small size in comparison, Squall effortlessly brought such to the old lion and any that where with out a meal. Though, his elder would eat first.

Stopping Next to Ikenna, Squall released the lifeless gazelle from his trap of teeth. Letting it's heavy head flop in front of the old lion as a leathery tongue slipped across Squall red tipped tinted gray maw. A blue gaze slipped over to the ladies that had prepared to go out for a hunt, before emotionality looking back to the water. It wasn't that the Lion had any intention to...insult the hunt, he rather was use to going out by himself-by rather the nagging from his father figure (he couldn't sleep in-or he wouldn't hear the end of it) and rather while with Li, with how the god so squeamish to blood-weak-rather, he couldn't eat his meals while around the now grown god-let. So, it had to be done in the early hours, while Li had slept. So, more or less it was training, turned habitual.

Squall, let his strong sapphire eyes look to Ikenna, before a large paw rose and he started to step over the kill. Though his movement paused as the King and Prince approached. His gaze glanced to the water, his dry maw craved, before he let his paw settle back to the ground to corrected his ridged power stance. A turned head knowledge the two, and with a respectful nod he greeted them.

"Morning's always a good time to be busy. It's the best time to be..." Ikkena looked up from his half eaten rabbit to eye the King and prince. "Good thing for a younin' king to know. Especially if he's gonna- BOY!"

His maw opened wide, eyes closed as if in a yawn, as he addressed his grand-son.

"What have I told you about comin' near the waterin' hole and just walkin' off without bein' dismissed. Respect! That's what I've been teachin' ya boy. And where have ya been anyways? makin' me worry my fur off. I ain't as young as I used to be ya know, but I could still take your tuckas in a fight..." Ikkena continued to ramble to his grand-son, but after that last point his words were mostly incoherent between bites he begun to take from the gazelle.

Rotem smirked and gave a shrug of his broad shoulders. "The morning's when the prey's still trying to get their hooves under them. It's better if we keep ourselves sharp and take the early advantage. Seems you've beaten the sun to breakfast yet again."

He side-stepped as Squall mutely dropped a fresh carcass at the paws of his elderly grand-father. The lion, however, didn't seem impressed. Typical Ikkena always had something to say about any given situation and it didn't seem that he would be letting poor Squall off easily. "Mind your elders." Rotem reminded him lightly. "It'll shut them up if they get too haughty."

---

Jaron detoured from his father's side to approach the gathering hunting party. He took a moment to brush some of the mane from his eyes and roll his shoulders back to boast his full rusty mane. "I always look forward to the mornings. So many lovely faces in one place, all eager and ready for the day."

He paused a few steps away from the gathering huntresses. "I think the head huntress is taking a morning for herself. If you ladies need some extra muscle I won't mind-"

---

"Jaron." Rotem's stern voice called out over the short distance between them. Jaron flinched and glanced back to his father. "Enough of your tail-chasing, we have a patrol this morning."

---

Sighing, Jaron took a short step back. "Whatever happened to Chivalry?"

---

"Last thing on your mind. Come on."
