Rolled a four: Water field: Five large platforms float on the surface of the deep pool. Four form a diamond formation around the single platform in the center. While land pokemon can move around on this field, it is mainly built for water-types. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to WATER type attacks.

Walpurgis emerged into the trainer's box, sending out Gangrel with a brisk sweep of the hand. He was fighting a vibrava today, a pokemon he had seen a lot back home. It wasn't quite a flygon, however, so it shouldn't be that bad.
Gangrel landed on one of the platforms before trying to regain his balance. He hated this field. but his opponent wouldn't be much better off this time. That was a plus, at least.

It was Dreidyn's first battle in Zatao and Lotus's first battle too. She was excited and also nervous about how it would turn out. She never had a knack for battling but her Vibrava did, and she had confidence that her Pokemon won't let her down. And even if the fight would end badly, it would still be a valuable experience at the end.
"Let's do our best!" She smiled at the other trainer. She threw her Pokeball into the air and Lotus materialized out of the flash of red light. Her wings emitted a loud hum as she hovered around the battlefield, not unlike a dragonfly.

Walpurgis nodded his agreement at the other trainer's proposition, but Gangrel's definition of 'fun' was insulting his opponents - and he was all to happy to do so.

Lotus stared at the Rattata and tilted her head. [What?] She said in reply, not understanding what the small Pokemon meant until a few moments later. [Hey! That's not very nice!] She then screeched. [I mean what if I said that umm... I hope you can swim cause I'm going to douse you in awesomesauce!]
Dreidyn stared at the Pokemon talk with puzzlement. Lotus was only caught recently so she didn't understand her intentions quite yet but whatever she was saying was probably something silly. The Vibrava tended to be like that.
"Ok let's go with Rock Smash!" She sighed before shouting out her command.
Lotus perked up when she heard her trainer and dived at the Rattata with astounding speed. She wasn't going to let him talk smack about her anymore!

Gangrel flew back from the attack, opting to dive under the water. He swam around a bit until the call of "Ice Beam, now!" was heard above the water. His eyes turned a light blue as he swam towards the top, shooting out of the water and shooting ice towards the vibrava.

If there was one bad thing about becoming part dragon it was that she was more vulnerable to the cold. The Ice Beam connected with part of her wing and she screeched as the frost seemed to freeze her entire being. Thankfully she was able to shake it off by beating her wings even more. But that still hurt! This Rattata was getting more annoying each turn!
"Hang in there!" This was looking bad but hopefully luck would be on her side to turn things around. "Use another Rock Smash!" Dreidyn shouted.
Lotus whirled around and spotted Gangrel swimming in the water. It would be a tricky shot but she charged towards him with incredible force, aiming carefully.

Gangrel hadn't been able to fall back into the water in time, given his small frame, and was instead launched with authority back into the pool. "Again!" called out Walpurgis, and Gangrel swam up to the edge of one of the floating platforms before firing off another jet of ice.

This time the beam of ice connected fully with her body. The frosty shock seemed to have paralyzed her and with a shriek of pain she fell into the water.
"Lotus!" Dreidyn cried out. She would've jumped into to scoop the poor Pokemon out of the water but she stopped as she saw that Lotus was still moving and wanted to fight.
"You can do it!" She still had hope that they could pull something off. "Hit him with another Rock Smash!"

Gangrel was slammed hard into the side of the patform, flying up onto it. He got up unsteadily, eyes still blue as an eerie calm settled over him. He stood up on his hind legs, looking to the sky. The temperature dropped all around, and ice began to form on the surface of the water.
The winds raged as the water froze completely, with Gangrel at the eye of the torrent of snow.

[Oh come on!] Lotus yelled as she braced herself for the coming storm. As if a beam of pure ice isn't enough, now she had to endure a Blizzard! Snow shards raked against her body but she held her ground, albeit with a sliver of health left.
Things were looking grim where Dreidyn was standing. It was unlikely that they would win this fight, at least if they kept on attacking. They needed to pull off a last minute tactic, thankfully now that Taunt has worn off. It's the only way they could pull through.
"Use Supersonic now!"
The Vibrava shook some ice off of her and launched herself into the air again. Her wings began to beat faster than they ever had, creating a high pitch whine that drilled into the brains of everyone around them. Dreidyn had to cover her ears to not be confused herself.

The winds raging around Gangrel made it impossible to hear anything, but he assumed Walpurgis would have wanted him to finish the battle as reliably as possible. Eyes back to their normal red, he leaped into the air, materializing a star beneath him. He landed perfectly on the star, willing it forward through the calming winds, slamming directly into Lotus before rebounding back to the trainer box to fall with a couple of flips onto the railing.
"Show off." Walpurgis muttered with a laugh.

Lotus tried her best to dodge the star but she was too weak, and the attack was unavoidable anyway. She was struck squarely in the chest and fell out of sky and into the water with a large splash. And she didn't have the strength to swim back to the surface. Dreidyn had to recall the Vibrava before she drown.
She was a little disappointed on how the battle went, evident on the frown on her face. But it turned into a smile as she cheerfully waved to the other trainer. "Thanks for the match anyway!"
