Gloria wandered around Katarina nervously, clutching a map in her fingers. The paper was useless to her, though; it was far more confusing than a map needed to be! Wasn't Katarina supposed to be a fairly small town? Then how could it be such an impossible maze? She'd never find her brother in this labyrinth!
It was hard to believe that she had only arrived in Zatao two days ago. Luckily she had brought money with her and had been able to sleep in an inn at night, but that would quickly run out. She felt terribly out of place, in a new town, surrounded by strangers, and unsure whether she would ever find the one person on the whole continent that she did know. She was also uncomfortably aware that nearly everyone here had pokemon, while she had not a one. Back at home, of course, she had made friends with a great number of the breeding stock, but none of them were owned by her. It would have been stealing if she had taken one, as tempting as the idea was. But she'd had no idea that Katarina had so many resident trainers. It shouldn't be a big deal, though, so long as no one challenged her to a battle...
But what if Gepardo was out in the wilderness? He was a watcher, so no doubt he explored outside of the city quite a lot. That would explain why she hadn't seen him... But she dared not believe that he was out. She knew that it was dangerous to go out in the wilderness alone; wild pokemon were aggressive, and she had no one to use for a battle.
"Brother!" she called out desperately, nearly starting to panic. She attracted some strange looks from some people walking by, and she ducked her head and quickly moved on, feeling mortified. She couldn't ask for help-- not yet. It was too embarrassing. She, a grown girl, lost and crying out for her brother! She felt a blush burn in her cheeks, which only made her feel even worse.
"Pikachirisu!"
"Huh?" Gloria looked up at the sound. It definitely sounded like a pokemon, but not one she had ever heard of. Had it meant to say 'Pachirisu'? She looked around for the source of the call, and spotted the oddest-looking pokemon she had ever seen, gesturing emphatically at a store that sold pokemon food. The weird pokemon was sitting on someone's shoulder... That person was oddly familiar... As he turned around, Gloria's face broke into a delighted and relieved smile. She recognized the face of her brother!
"Gepardo!" she shouted, darting across the street. "Gepardo! I found you!"
Manticore nearly fell off of Gepardo, startled out of her excitement over the good-smelling food shop. She slid off of his shoulders and clung to one of his arms like a koala, preparing to fall to the ground and flee if the loud, running girl turned out to be an enemy.
((I'm gonna assume that Pecha, Manticore's baby pachirisu, is in a pokeball at this time. He can give her to Gloria at the same time as Manticore. Feel free to let her out, too, if you want.))

Gepardo had been grocery shopping for items to try on his new recipe for electric type pokemon food. Now, having Manticore with him was a good thing and a bad thing, he could see what ingredients attracted her more and which ones she detested down right, but at the same time, he had to stop her from eating everything in sight. Not only was she still trying to adjust to the fact that she didn't have to try to eat as much as she possible could in one sitting, but he was still trying to lower her calorie intake now that her pregnancy was over. Perhaps he should just kept her in her pokeball and try with Pecha instead, he might get a little rest from all the pulling.
Trying to ignore Manticore's cry to go into the food shop, he blinked when he heard his name being cried out, for a millisecond he thought it had been Manticore until his brain caught up and notice that was a familiar voice, turning his head, his eyes widen as he saw his baby sister, running full throttle towards him. "Gloria?! What are you doing here?"

"Gepardo!" Gloria shouted again, flinging her arms around him in a bear hug, and nearly knocking out Manticore in the process. The pikachirisu managed to doge the girl's arm, however, and was now clinging desperately to the back of Gepardo's shirt.
When Gloria finally released her brother, it was to wipe the tears from her eyes. "I was so afraid I'd never find you! But I knew you had to be here!" She managed to compose herself somewhat. "I just couldn't stand it, living with Grandfather after you had that fight with him and left... I had to leave, too. I'll become a breeder and watcher, too! We can work together!" She beamed up at him, apparently having forgotten that they were in a public place. If she saw the few strange looks she was garnering from passers-by, she certainly would not be acting so flamboyantly. Only those who were closest to her, such as her family, could see the real Gloria, the one that went unhindered by shyness or embarrassment.

Gepardo pulled one of his arms behind him to keep Manticore from falling while hugging his sister with his free arm. "Its good to see you..." He chuckled at the almost hyper attitude of Gloria. He had missed that, well, he had missed a lot of things about his family since he left. "Come along, lets go to the pokemon park where is a little less...crowed and we don't have to shout to hear each other and talk about all this, okay?"

"Oh, right!" Gloria said, suddenly remembering that they were in public. She felt her face grow hot again and could only hope that her embarrassment wasn't visible to Gepardo. She pulled away from him, but stood close beside him and waited for him to lead the way (she didn't know where the park was). Now that she had found him, she never wanted to lose sight of him again-- the city was too strange and new for her to take on by herself!
Now that she had somewhat gotten over her excitement and relief, she took a closer look at Manticore, who was trying to hide behind Gepardo's head while she clung to his shoulder.
"That's... not a pachirisu, is it?" she asked, interestedly. It was certainly colored like a pachirisu, but its body seemed more pikachu-like. She couldn't quite identify it as simply a color-variation pikachu, though; definitely not with that squirrel tail! As a pokemon breeder, she prided herself on her ability to identify and care for different breeds of pokemon, but she honestly had no idea where to place this one. Could it possibly be a new species? What had it said earlier... Pikachirisu?

Gepardo took her hand and guide her towards the pokemon park, which was thankfully mostly empty at the moment but for a few senior people and their companion pokemon. Good, no over eager children wanting to battle or snotty trainers with dyed pokemon.
The dark type breeder chuckled when her sister's mind finally settle on the hybrid. "Nope, she isn't" He took them over to a bench and put down his grocery bag. "This Manticore" He gently peeled the pokemon off his head and held her in his arms. "A hybrid pokemon. Pikachirisu."

"Pikachirisu," Manticore confirmed, a bit nervously. But she trusted Gepardo, who in turn seemed to trust this new girl, so she tentatively extended her head in Gloria's direction to take in the girl's scent. She smelled kind of like Gepardo-- looked like him, too. She realized that they must be family, and was immediately relieved. Both pikachus and pikachirisus are social animals who remain in familial groups, so knowing that Gloria was Gepardo's sibling let her know that they could be a peaceful group together. She did not believe that any relative of Gepardo's would wish her harm.
"Wow, a hybrid? Really?" Gloria asked excitedly. "I didn't know that that was possible! Of course, we already knew that the offspring from a cross-breeding of pokemon sometimes have strange mutations, but this... She really is split right down the middle, isn't she? Both pikachu and pachirisu? I wonder... Would she produce pachirisus and pikachus, or is it possible to create another pikachirisu? This... Well, you already know what this could mean! This is amazing! Where did you find her?" Gloria extended her hand slowly and calmly toward Manticore to let her smell it, even as she spoke with mounting excitement.

Gepardo gently pettted Manticore to keep her calm, watching as his sister rattle off questions without letting him answer. Ah...family. He smiled softly and waited for her to pause. "Yes, she is a hybrid, for what I can tell she is the result of a very long line of pikachus and pachirisus breeding together. I found her in the wild while I was taking one of my morning runs.... As for what she would produce..."He grinned and pulled out a pokeball marked with a pink star painted on it. "This pokeball has one of her offspring in it....thought I have to point out that this breeding of hers was an unscheduled one and with an eevee or eeveelution....."
He lightly scratched behind Manticore's ears. "Cause she is a bad girl and ran away from me while we were on a run....Pecha, come out" He let the baby pachirisu out. "As you can see, she produce a pachirisu, but my theory is that she can also produce pichus, it was just a random draw."

Gloria laughed at Manticore's naughtiness, but then remembered that Manticore was freshly wild-caught. Even with pokeballs, pokemon usually required varying levels of taming if they weren't bred by trainers.
"Pachi!" Pecha announced, appearing on the ground. She was about to scramble up Gepardo's pant leg, but she suddenly realized that there was a new stranger nearby, and trotted toward Gloria instead, who bent down to pick her up.
Gloria giggled as the baby pokemon nuzzled her cheek. She'd always worked with starter pokemon on the farm, but she found that this electric squirrel was the most adorable pokemon she'd had the joy to interact with. "Shiny recessive, right?" she asked, spotting the pink bits in Pecha's fur. "You're a very pretty girl," she said, stroking the soft fur. When she got older, this Pecha might be good breeding stock. Not to mention there was still a lot to find out about Manticore... "Is this your new breeding project?" she asked Gepardo.

Gepardo gently moved his fingers through Manticore's fur as he smiled at his sister's interaction with the baby pokemon. "Hmm? Yes, in some ways, i suppose it is. Manticore is a very rare find and needs to be study, in behavior and power level. There is a lot about her that is unknown....Pecha is good basis to compare against Manticore's behavior and at the same time not. Pecha was born in captivity, while Manticore wasn't, their behavior will be quiet different with that alone, but basic behavior should still shine through if one takes care to not spoil her. Manty has a voracious appetite still, she will snatch any food she can find, she still somewhat wild and feels the need to keep eating, Pecha on the other hand, if she doesn't pick it up from her mother, should be a well fed pachirisu with no eating disorder."
The breeder sighed softly. "Thought having Manticore and Pecha is going to be well...distracting from my real goal."

"Real goal? What's that?" Gloria asked curiously. She herself was already drawn in completely to Pecha's charms, and the mystery surrounding Manticore. That anyone wouldn't want to be distracted by the squirrel pokemon confused her. Her brother had left home so abruptly... Now that she thought about it, she realized that he must have had a goal all along.
Manticore puffed out her cheeks and chatted darkly to herself in objection. She did not have an eating disorder! She just couldn't be sure where her next meal would come from... there was nothing wrong with being careful!

Gepardo realize that breeding a hybird would be any breeder's dream, but electric squirrels were just not his interest by a long shot. "I want to study and breed dark type pokemon, specially zoarks and houndooms, I am specially interest in their final and rare evolution of the later. Dark pokemon have always gotten a bad rap for being psychotic and malignant, I do not believe it for a moment, people just don't understand the behavior they are witnessing." He continue to pet manticore. "I understand that this seems to be silly, but I finding Manticore was a blessing and a curse. A hybird, a wild hybird, something that has been tried many times in captivity became a possibility in the wild and that just boggles the mind. How did it happen? Did we not meet a certain standard? Are we suppose to breed in some rare interval we do not know of? What are the needed heritage lines to make this a possibility? The questions are endless, and they all lie in this one specimen."

"Hm..." Gloria mused, looking from Manticore to the little pachirisu in her hands. "Well, two projects going on at the same time is too much for any one person to handle. Why don't you let me lend you a hand? I don't have any pokemon yet, and... I really wanted to start my own breeding project, just like you, but I didn't really have anything in mind, so..." She trailed off, wondering if she was asking for too much. But she looked up at her brother, unconsciously employing her best puppy-dog eyes.

Gepardo gave her a look as he leaned back on his seat. "Wait, wait, wait.....you left home without any pokemon at all? What were you thinking?" The previous conversation seemed to be forgotten for a moment and he overlook the doe eyed look he was getting.

"W-well," Gloria stammered, startled by her brother's scolding. "None of the pokemon farm actually belong to me, you know... It didn't feel right to take them without permission, and I knew that if I asked, they wouldn't let me leave at all, because, well, since you left... Well... I guess they were counting on me to help out around the farm more, to make up for..." she shifted uneasily and let the rest of her sentence go unsaid. She felt suddenly very guilty. What had started out as an exciting (albeit terrifying) adventure suddenly felt like a burden on her parents. But no-- she was her own person! She couldn't let the farm hold her back.
"If you had taken me with you when you left, Gepardo, I wouldn't have been without pokemon," she accused petulantly.
