This is a private RP between:
Prajna & Namini, and Anita & Cruz

Where: Downtown Durem, during a cherry blossom festival
When: a bright afternoon
Weather: clear skies, breezy
Status: in progress
PostPosted: Fri Mar 16, 2012 3:19 pm

Prajna, isn’t that pretty? Move in, this one will be so nice” a certain brunette cooed, as another familiar redhead floated through the bustling crowd towards a beautiful young cherry blossom tree. The androgynous ginger glanced up through the pastel pink petals and past the mighty, mysterious arms of the dark arbor and then raised its arms over its head in a fashionable pose, lowering its piercing gaze to meet the eye of the teen’s curious camera. Prajna made sure not to blink, despite the fluttering petals and staring bystanders, until the Star heard the soft, accurate ‘click!’ of Namini’s camera, to which the Star responded with a blink and an accomplished sigh. It returned back to its guardian’s side and took the camera from her to review the shot. Oh, how interesting.

Namini used black and white” Prajna stated a bit too impressively. Namini beamed in her charge’s rare praise and pointed to the interesting shot. Lately, the duo had become a little closer, at least in the girl’s eyes, an intimacy sparked by Prajna’s addiction to television surprisingly. Despite the Nao household receiving the occasional fashion catalog, it took the usually indifferent soul the off chance of catching a marathon of modeling campaigns to suddenly become absorbed in the world of color, cuts, cameras and posing. Prajna had watched, for hours, that random Saturday afternoon, dozens of women practicing their catwalk, posing in staircases, pools, mid-air, and in meadows to realize just how exciting everyday life could be. That small flame of interest sparked the question, “Do have camera?” When the answer was “Yes”, then the flames spread like wildfire. “Good. Give to Prajna.” The following weeks were filled with the Star taking pictures of whatever it could before learning how to use the timer feature to take pictures of itself. Prajna’s increased vanity would have made the normal person choke and tear, like being stuffed into a room of smoke, but when the redhead began asking its guardian to assist in developing its portfolio, the teen couldn’t pass up such as chance at getting closer to her charge!

The light made your eyes even more extraordinary. See here?” Namini explained and Prajna nodded in deep focus. The two then proceeded on their way, casually strolling along the cobblestone street where people had come to gaze at the blooming sakura trees, in celebration of White Day, a follow up holiday of Valentine’s day. It seemed appropriate to at least have come out here for this minor holiday, since the Naos hadn’t particularly done anything to celebrate Valentine’s Day, besides a tiny exchange of letters. Namini looked Prajna over to gaze at the Star’s unfamiliar attire and smiled to herself, “Prajna’s so into this modeling thing, it’s nice to see it try new things out.” Today, the two were out and about, donning all white pieces of clothing: Namini had on a white sweetheart cut sleeveless shirt, high water pants and some pink flip flops, her hair up in two small buns with matching pink ribbons, and Prajna’s hair was in a small messy braid, its edgy locks still growing out (though rather nicely). The Star’s attire consisted of a long sleeved Victorian style shirt, a more vintage style of shirt than what it usually wore, and its signature star ribbon and hat.

Prajna pointed to a small street vendor selling snacks like cotton candy and heart shaped lollipops, and for a second, it revealed an exquisite smile that seemed not so rare these nowadays…and Namini couldn’t resist snapping a quick candid. When reviewing the shot, the brunette could only sigh at the Star’s quickly growing ability to just pose so elegantly so effortfortlessly.

When the excitement for Valentine's Day had died down, the crocodile seemed to look a bit more sluggish than usual. It had been discovered his love for the holiday, the merry making, the joy of people being together and feeling loved -- and above all, the kissing! -- had been something he did not want to be done with so soon. With a little research, however, the two of them found a holiday Anita and her family never really acknowledged before; White Day. With this new knowledge, and the fact that her old temporary home of Durem held celebrations for it, told Cruz all he needed to know and Anita as well.

They would not be ignoring White Day any more, from this point on.

It was very rare Anita dressed up for anything outside of fun costumes like for Halloween. Formal wear was a somewhat alien concept to her and usually she ended up feeling strange if she was "too" gussied up. Even without make up or fancy hairdos, the shirt Cruz had picked out for her from her mother's closet was a bit... frilly. She at least appreciated that it matched the color theme of the holiday and wondered if her mom had bought it on purpose for just such an occasion. It was a short sleeved tunic-like blouse that would normally have been gently tied around the waist with a baby blue silk ribbon but instead Anita looped it through the belt loops of her white cargo shorts. Her socks matched the pale blue of the belt and the ribbons tying her braids but her shoes were the normal black and white tennies. There weren't very many shoes to pick from in her wardrobe in general, let alone were good for walking and looking nice.

Floating beside her, green being made even more vibrant against all of the bright white and pink, Cruz proudly puffed what existed of his chest out and held Anita's hand so as not to get lost in the crowd. Wanting to do something different, he too had gotten a change in wardrobe for this special day. His green locks were hanging loosely over one shoulder, tied near the bottom with his white ribbon and accentuating the ruffle of his white vest tied with a string the same color as Anita's ribbons at the front in a zigzag pattern. White gloves came up to just below his elbows, the smallest amount of ruffling at the edge, while the fingers were removed and the glove ended with but a hole for the thumb and an open area for the rest of his hand.

Color-wise, there was nothing that could be done about his rune or ribbon but he didn't seem to mind; it pulsed and quivered with as much excitement as was in his heart then. Vibrant green eyes alive with joy, the two had left the car some time ago and had taken to standing under one tree in particular that seemed to want to get rid of all its blossoms. They rained gently with the calmest of breezes, Cruz cupping his hands and catching as many petals and small flowers as he could.

There was a decent sized crowd, causing Anita to smile. She hadn't realized what a big hit this sort of holiday could be when Valentine's seemed to serve its purpose but the beauty of the scenery and how much fun the young Frei seemed to be having spoke volumes. The city of Durem was quite prepared, apparently, with all sorts of vendors and snacks. The smell of chocolates, cotton candy and baked goods caused her stomach to grumble eagerly and she realized she hadn't eaten much of a breakfast at all and lunch had just passed them by.

"Cruz, can we come back to this tree?" she moved over to him, resting a hand on his shoulder, "They've got some food over there and I'm reaaalllyyy hungry." Once more her stomach sounded, punctuating her plea.

Her crocodilian companion looked up from the large pile of pink now resting comfortably in his claws and, with but a single glance up at the luscious branches, he grinned widely and hovered nearer. "Yes," as always was his simple positive response. As he followed his woman, he kept his hands cupped, allowing more stray petals to pile into his quickly filling palms. The two planted themselves at the end of a thankfully meager queue at a vendor that was selling actual food and not just snacks; heart shaped sandwiches, white soups, cupcakes and pastries, all sorts of breads. Just standing in line made Anita hungrier.

Through the delicious scents, however, the mistletoe raevan detected a certain other smell, one he had not had the pleasure of partaking for some months. It sent a shiver down his half formed spine, eyes closing with a sigh as he attempted to locate which direction it was coming from. Each time the wind blew he could smell it more and before long there was a soft growl of longing resounding in his throat, almost like a purr.

The red hot star of All Hallow's Eve was somewhere in this sea of white...

As the Naos approached the various street vendors, Namini’s eye on a particular hotdog stand and Prajna’s on a small woman selling handmade charms and imported candies, Namini made sure to take a few scenic pictures to throw in to their little holiday album. She snapped a picture of the steaming corndogs and sweet, oversized lollipops, a stray puppy begging for scraps, and then just a few quick shots of the busy and bustling crowd. Prajna had become distracted by the puppy as Namini reviewed the last shots to delete the ones deemed unfit, when the androgynous star turned and pointed to a food stand, “Namini, buy food for puppy dog. Is hungry, yes?

Namini was just about to nod and go fetch a small set of fries or something to satisfy both the pup and Prajna’s need to feed the pup when she noticed something or rather, someone familiar in one of her pictures. Where had she seen this curly brown hair before… ? Ah!
The young girl turned her gaze up from her camera and glanced around the crowd, causing Prajna to frown. Pouting, it shot up from its crouching pose beside the pup and waved its hand in her face, but before it could scold her, Namini shot her own hand outward, a smile on her face, “Prajna! Look who it is! Aniiiittaaa~!

Some bystanders had stopped to give the Naos an awkward stare, a consequence of Namini’s actions that Prajna did not appreciate too much, but when it followed its guardian’s gaze through the hustle and bustle of the strangers, suddenly nothing else mattered. Its cheeks burst into flames and the Star tried to distract itself with the pup once more. Prajna cooed “Good doggy” almost a hundred times as it ruffled its head, trying to hide its embarrassment and get Namini to refocus on the pup’s needs but Namini wouldn’t stop waving; She hadn’t seen Anita in such a long time, and that green was probably HER Frei right? Namini was dying to meet it! “C’mon Prajna! Let’s go say hello!” Namini chirped as she grabbed the arm of her Frei and drug it through the streets. Prajna was just about to rip her hand off of it, when it found itself floating just a few feet away from him, the green kissing Frei. Prajna felt every nerve its incomplete body send waves of fire all throughout itself, its cheeks burning. Perhaps though…perhaps he wouldn’t remember Prajna? It could only pray.

Namini, on the other hand, was beaming, “Anita! It’s been so long since I’ve seen you!” She jumped forward and perhaps engaged Anita in a rather too enthusiastic hug. When she released her, it seemed that, somehow, the smile on her face was even wider than before. “Is this your Raevan? I don’t think we’ve properly met!” she continued earnestly, looking Cruz over.

Each short minute they stood in front of the vendor without moving caused Anita's stomach to grumble and cave, the woes of a fast metabolism catching up to her with a vengeance. Whenever a particularly loud grumble sounded or a twist pulled at her guts, she rubbed her belly and pouted, uttering quiet childish whines that hopefully weren't annoying the people in front of her. At her side, Cruz continued attempting to sniff through the crowd and blossoming cherry trees but it was difficult at best, nigh impossible at worst. Him even managing to get a whiff of the star surely meant it was nearby and the thought caused his rune to pulse with excitement...and a bit of its own hunger.

If it weren't for Namini taking so many pictures, surely they would not have been spotted. Fate was smiling on them that day, though perhaps not so much in Prajna's favor. When the joyous cry of her name rang out, Anita gazed around blindly, slack jawed, before spotting cute Namini Nao. Her eyes and face lit up instantly and she raised her arm, waving it wildly to beckon the girl and her charge over. Cruz had reacted similarly, gazing around on the defensive at first but his teeth soon showed through his thrilled grin. The star, however, seemed completely uninterested and so unlike its demeanor from when they first met. It barely looked at him, instead giving its attentions to a stray dog who was wandering around looking for scraps.

The dog was cute of course, Cruz could understand that, and if it was hungry that was definitely sad and someone should fix it but... did Prajna really not care about seeing him again at all? Instead of getting Namini, he hovered slightly lower and slouched his shoulders, still refusing to let go of all the petals he had amassed.

When the Nao girl strolled over, Anita had her hand ready for a hearty palm smack as she typically did when greeting male fiends but the other brunette gave her little warning and dove in for a hug instead. Giggling in surprise, she wrapped her arms around Namini, returning the sentiment, "I know, time really flew after Halloween, huh?" Namini's interest in Cruz delighted her, and she turned to her charge only to notice his change in demeanor; his smile had faded and his eyes were locked on the star that was reluctantly hanging back despite Namini strong-arming him over. "Yeah," she confirmed, resting a hand on his shoulder.

Cruz only glanced at her for a split second before looking back to the star.

"This is Cruz. Cruz, can you say hi to Namini? Maybe shake her hand?" Anita gave his shoulder a light pat to further get his attention and when she asked if he could say hi the Frei seemed to snap out of it a little, giving Namini a halfhearted smile and a simple "'Ello...". When the matter of hand shaking came up, however, his eyes widened a bit and he glanced down at his petal filled palms. Shaking hands would require dropping all of the lovely petals he had collected. Concern crossed his brows as he stared at the pile of pink, a light frown tracing his lips, and for a few moments he stayed there silently, not sure what to do.

Before long, the line was beginning to move and Anita had to step up. Giving Cruz's ponytail a quick fluff, she made a cooing noise so he'd look at her and smiled to try and make him do the same. "How 'bout you stay with Namini and Praj for a few minutes while I grab some food, huh? I'll be quick." Cruz seemed to brighten a bit at this -- at least he didn't have to drop his petals! -- but now there was some more confusion as he drifted closer to the human whose star was actively trying to avoid his gaze.

Turning to the two, Cruz did his best to smile. "Nah-mee-nee, Prrashnaa," even then its name came out unintentionally as a purr, "Been good, yes?" Small talk was something his limited vocabulary made somewhat difficult but each day he got a little better at communicating what he wanted and Anita was pretty good about helping him if he couldn't find the words. Glancing to Prajna's cool blue eyes, his rune pulsed longingly for the star's attentive stare. It had been some time, yes, but had something happened to cause Prajna not to like him anymore?

"Cruz? What a nice name, seems very appropriate for the summer time, y'know like cruise ships?" Namini giggled, making a small wave-like motion with her hands to help Cruz better envision it. Prajna...did not contribute to her enthusiasm, as it continued trying to avoid Cruz's emerald gaze. The Star vividly recalled Halloween: the mixed and over enthusiastic crowd of Raevans and owners alike, all donned in the most festive of costumes, the food, the spooky music, the hay everywhere, and of course, the scary stories of the Lady Widow. ...and the heavy romantic tension that came with those stories. After Cruz had witnessed such a poor display of character on the Star's behalf, how was it supposed to look him in the eye now?! Perhaps he was merely being kind to the redhead before so that he could discover the Star's weakness and use it to later take advantage of it! Prajna pouted and peeked up, if only for a moment at Cruz, to judge his face again: No... he really didn't seem like the malicious, calculating type but...Prajna HAD only met him once. How was it to know for certain? As Anita left the group to grab a quick afternoon snack, the curly haired brunette took note of the crocodile's accumulated flora and tilted her head in curiosity, a move too commonly displayed in anime, "What are the sakura blossoms for, Cruz?"

Prajna's glacier gaze fell upon Cruz's open palms then, spilling over with pink petals, and the Star began to wonder the same thing as Namini. But from his clawed fingers, to his olive forearms, up his biceps, continuing on to his collarbone and then to his jawline and then-- Prajna found itself captivated by the crocodile's lips once more, just like it had been at Halloween. Something about the green Frei simply seduced Prajna. He made the Star feel like it was falling to the Earth with no way of slowing or stopping, like its chest was going to explode into a million pieces across a galaxy of darkness if Prajna didn't lean forward and steal a teenyyyy...tinnnnyyyy little kiss of his lips. A warm blush trickled across the redhead's genderless features but a nearby vendor yelled out the deliciousness of his pretzels and soon, Prajna was back to its senses and ignoring Namini, jumped into responding to Cruz's question, "Prajna has been well...Cruz."

Namini turned to give her charge a curious glance before flickering her cerulean eyes back to Cruz. Had she missed something? The teenage girl made a quick mental note of the redness in Prajna's pale cheeks and its unusually politeness in addressing another individual. She gasped suddenly. Was this poor crocodile another victim of Prajna's kissing frenzies?! Namini felt her own face turn hot but she kept her lips sealed. She knew better than to pry into Prajna's affairs but really? Just how many people had Prajna kissed when Namini's back was turned!? Prajna's mind, on the other hand, began to race with calculations and strategies; If Cruz really was the manipulative type, perhaps Prajna would just have to befriend the crocodile, make an alliance rather than another enemy. Yes, another friend wouldn't hurt. Especially if he was a seemingly kind and curious soul like this one...

While Namini's attempt at humor went over the poor young Frei's head, her giggle did not and a more genuine smile crept upon his face in response. It was a sound he as very fond of, especially from females; it made his heart and body feel light and even if he was feeling a bit down it always seemed to bring him further away from the bad feelings -- not that he felt them very often. No, his current disposition was indeed unique and seemed reserved for these sorts of situations.

Her question caught him off guard and for a moment Cruz stared blankly at her, and then down at his hands. What were they for...? Nothing in particular, he supposed. If the question meant why had he collected so many of them, it was rather simple, really, and the thought made him smile again. "Blossoms very soft. Very pretty..." he explained gently, though it seemed more like he was thinking aloud than speaking to Namini, the way he was gazing at the collected petals. The first one that brushed against his cheek had almost felt like tiny pink lips and that was what their color and texture reminded him of as he held them in his hands as well. His rune brightened slightly at the comparison and for a brief moment his gaze flicked to Prajna's tender lips, reminding him of the powerful and spicy kisses they had exchanged those months ago. With the red frei before him now, it seemed like an eternity ago and his rune was quickly filling with longing to taste those nourishing kisses once more.

A weight seemed to be lifted from Cruz's shoulders as finally the star's cold eyes met his and it decided to speak. The words were reassuring; instantly the uncomfortable feelings from before melted away, he floated just the slightest bit higher, small wings frilled out excitedly, and oh what a smile! The warmth and joy that emanated from him in that small moment might have made people stop in their tracks if they weren't so preoccupied with their own matters.

If only he had a third hand he would have grabbed one of the whole flowers and given it to Prajna, perhaps to tuck in its dark hair or the lace of its shirt. "Good," he purred simply, his gaze lingering on the star before following up his response to Namini with a pleasant nod, serene smile still in place. He wasn't going to give much thought to how the star had been acting previously now that things seemed fine but there was still a feeling of apprehension or restraint from the other Frei. Whatever the cause, Cruz was determined to try his best and not make the situation any worse and hopefully Prajna would lighten back up like it had been at the Halloween party.

Not too far away, a delightful groan passed through the air from a mouth full of bread and meat. Anita wandered back, a glazed bun in the shape of a heart with a hot dog piercing it at an angle to look like an arrow. It was precisely what she had needed and, though she was trying her best not to get the pristine white outfit messy, her hunger wasn't allowing her to hold back on the still warm bread. "Sorry that took awhile," she murmured through a partially full mouth, one hand covering it so no one would accidentally see her food, "So what have you guys been up to since Halloween?" It was likely their stories would be more interesting than hers or Cruz's but catching up was enjoyable nonetheless. Plus, it would let her get to know the two better since prior to Halloween she had only been acquainted with the younger Nao's brother.

Upon her return, Cruz beamed and she smiled happily back, glad to see that the mood had shifted while she was in line and in a far more positive direction. Hopefully it would stay that way for the duration of the festival.

Namini was a bit relieved to have Anita return, a feeling of awkwardness having crawled up under the brunette's skin during her friend's absence. The young Nao couldn't really make sense of it but she had this underlying notion that the seemingly innocuous relationship between Cruz and Prajna was perhaps, not so innocent at all, or at least she didn't think so, with the way they were blushing and seducing one another via love stricken gaze alone. But again, she knew better than to pry into Prajna's personal affairs. As long as Prajna's not fighting with him, I guess things are okay, Namini thought to herself. She quickly pushed those thoughts away and replied to Anita's curious inquisitions with a tender smile, "To be completely honest, we haven't been up to too many things. I've started my semester at Durem University as a nursing major, but Anitaaa~ the classes are so difficult! I feel like I have been asleep for decades, only to wake up in this world where simple words have now been replaced with crazy terminology that has exes and zees throughout each and every letter! It's... so tough." Namini finished with a half hearted giggle, as she recalled her last paper on prescription medicines. "And while I'm studying medicines and needles and ethics, Prajna's been at home a lot lately, practicing on this cello some secret Santa dropped off. You should come by sometime and see it Anita! You and Cruz both! It's a lovellllyyyy onyx color, black like night. Oh I'm sure you'd love it. Oh! But I'm rambling on. How have you been, especially with your new babe?" Again, Namini laughed. She remembered the first time she met Prajna and how stubborn and finicky it was, though that has barely changed now. At least Namini and David were getting used to its mannerisms and knew now how to react appropriately to them.

As Namini ranted and raved to Cruz's human girl, Prajna kept its blue eyes fixated on Cruz's hands, the petals continuing to pool together in the crocodile's palms, wondering what it should ask Cruz next. It indeed HAD been some time since the two Freis last spoke and Prajna felt it knew very little of Cruz's personality to be able to respond appropriately; with Varun, Prajna knew it could be rough and wild, untamed in any civil manner, while with Vyn, Prajna understood that it must maintain a level of eloquence and femininity. But with Cruz... Prajna was not really sure which behavior the emerald haired soul responded to best. That's when it had a lightbulb of an idea, " Can Prajna hold?"

The Star extended its pale palms outward, mirroring Cruz's pose and waited. It was different if Prajna caught some petals on its own. This way, Cruz would have to either refuse Prajna's innocent request, coming off as rude or selfish, or Cruz would oblige out of, perhaps, courtesy or even better yet, desire. It was a poor attempt at conversation and interaction but Prajna wanted to see if Cruz had changed since they last met, if his motives were different than before; He had seemed fine with physical contact last time, his supple lips effortlessly interlocking with Prajna's own, but perhaps, in a more public setting, he had become more reserved? Or perhaps that was merely a one time incident, an opportunity just for Cruz to try Prajna out? Either way, Prajna had to know the true meaning today, refusing to let such an opportunity at answers slip away.

Anita chuckled a bit, relieved to hear that she wasn't the only one not up to much in the last months. However, her thoughts back peddled when Namini began speaking of her studies at university, particularly those in medicine. In all honesty she felt quite small and unaccomplished in comparison; she had yet to attend a university, whiling her time away working for a video game store which might as well have been a working hobby instead of an occupation. Her smile faltered briefly, but the Nao girl's enthusiasm and dramatic jokes brought it back out again, fuller this time. "I hope the exes and zees don't start gobbling you up!" she chimed in, laughter returning.

To hear that Prajna played an instrument made Anita's eyes widen and Cruz's attention to briefly shift on the conversation, though his eyes did not drift from the star. His wings twitched gently as a slight breeze picked up, fingers curling tighter against the blossoms to keep them safe (though a few at the very top were carried off despite his efforts).

"That sounds fantastic, wow!" Anita chimed, surprised the star had an interested in such an instrument and also highly curious who this 'secret Santa' would be. Did Prajna have good friends with lots of money or was it perhaps a suitor? "I'd love to, that'd be great!" she turned to glance at Cruz, about to ask him if he thought the same thing, but held her tongue as the two frei's seemed entranced by one another. It was sort of odd to see but at the same time she couldn't blame them. Humans were a dime a dozen to Raevans, she was sure, and considering there were under fifty of them in the entirety of Gaia, finding another was something special, let alone getting to spend time with one.

Namini didn't allow for a lull in the conversation to last too long, bringing Anita back to the present with a smile. "Haha, we've been good but when I say we haven't been up to much I mean it," she giggled, tucking her hands into her pockets and rocking gently back on her heels, "Money was a little tight this Christmas so we didn't get too much but what we did was neat. Unfortunately, Cruz doesn't really know how to read or anything just yet so some of the stuff he got he can't use until then. He did get a crocodile scarf, though, that was really cute," the giggles came back as she remembered the gift from Zeke. "Aside from that we've just kinda been hangin' on, trying to get him acquainted with more people and Raevans, that sort of thing." She wondered if it were like this for most of the guardians when they were first starting out and getting used to caring for their new science-bred dependents.

Cruz listened idly to the two women, smile brightening and dulling when the laughter came and went or fond memories were brought up. He hovered within arm's distance of Prajna, glancing over it occasionally as it seemed to be doing to him, but it felt as if there was something calculating behind its gaze, something that Cruz did not quite understand or perhaps could not. It was a relief, then, that the fiery frei spoke up, its words cool and refreshing to the crocodile's gently pointed ears. He barely even gave the request a single thought, just a glance to his hands and then Prajna's which were now properly cupped.

"Yes," came the soft reptilian grumble and Cruz closed their distance, letting his hands hover over Prajna's palms first before lowering them carefully so that their skin touched. The mistletoe frei paused momentarily, enjoying the light contact, before cautiously spreading his fingers, one by one, so that the petals spilled out and filled the star's hands. Once the transfer was complete, Cruz moved his hands away from its own so the star could enjoy the gentle petals. With his own hands now free, the desire to pluck one of the blossoms became stronger and there was no longer any reason to bite it back. Gingerly he grasped the tiny stem of a cherry blossom from the top of the pile between his index finger and thumb, showed it to Prajna as though it were a small treasure and brushed some of the star's hair back so the small flower could be tucked just behind its ear and not become lost in its locks. "Prrashnaa pretty," he asserted quietly, withdrawing his hands and giving the star a vibrant smile, none-the-wiser to the inner machinations of its selfish mind.

On the topic of past holiday gifts and goodies, Namini’s sapphire eyes seemed to brighten with a childlike enthusiasm; if it was something she prided herself in, it was gift getting. The young brunette made a mental note to go out with Prajna on a later date to get Anita and Cruz something one of a kind to make up for their absence during the winter holidays. Plus Namini was sure she had some extra holiday cash to indulge her friend in, even if it was just a little! Anita seemed like such a relatable girl, one Namini could see herself becoming quite close to, almost as if the older brunette was some kind of sister the Nao never got to experience. The mere thought of this potential kinship made the young Nao giddish and beam, her excited fingers twirling around the stray bits of her hair, “Please. Stop by any time you guys are in the area. Prajna and I only live about twenty minutes from this festival spot alone, so I can’t imagine you two to live too much further. Am I right? With that said, I mean, have you met any other Raevans yet? In this area? I remember David saying there was one or two though I’m not really sure who exactly…

The teenager placed a pondering finger to her porcelain chin, envisioning the faces of all the Freis she knew. Isi and Eiry, and Aphismet and Rivener were around here somewhere if she remembered correctly...

Prajna continued in its disinterest of the women’s conversation, though seemed a least a little pleased to see that Namini was easily and thoroughly distracting herself with mere conversation. How simple minded she was. But as Prajna’s gaze was temporarily fixated upon Namini’s youthful mannerisms, Cruz loomed closer, his bestial whisper of a “Yes” too low and thoughtful for the Star to notice before Prajna found its face a few inches away from the Croc’s. Their fingers were making such delicate contact, Prajna noted. It felt like Cruz’s fingers were lingering oh so carefully as if not to destroy the beauty of the moment, like when one examines a spider web after morning dew, in awe at every intricate dewdrop gathered and held so tenderly. Then, just as quietly as he had come, the emerald decorated Frei slowly pulled himself away, leaving a small mountain of pink in the redhead’s frail fingers. Prajna watched him with meticulous eyes, waiting for any sign of sudden movement. For a moment, Prajna turned its dangerous gaze over to their guardians, wondering if they were in on this… this scene from some rom-com, but in this action alone is how Prajna distracted itself from Cruz’s gentle intentions. Within the next following moments, Cruz plucked a small blossom and placed it every so affectionately into the Star’s uneven crimson locks, tucked away by its pierced ear.

Prrashnaa pretty” came the crocodilian coo as Cruz floated aback a few paces and examined his work…

Prajna’s androgynous features were adorned with a bright red, one that would out-color any cherry or stop sign. The petals immediately fell from the Star’s palms as if suddenly toxic and burning, but aside from that one sudden motion, Prajna remained stunned. Stunned and glowing like Rudolph’s nose. Yes, yes, it adored being admired and exalted, especially by fiendish witches like Lulu or Lucia but that’s because they were just that: fiends and witches. The way Cruz had conducted himself though, it was just… so…. soooo… feminine? Delicate. Careful. Affectionate? Quiet… All of the words Prajna had learned since its creation seemed to just flood its thoughts. Anything that seemed remotely synonymous to “careful” or “nice” was just bolding, italicizing, and underlining itself within Prajna’s head! It was all so, so much that the only proper response Prajna seemed to be able to make was,

Thank… you?

Now it felt even stupidier.

"Actually," Anita started, reaching up to pull one of her braids over a shoulder and play with the tip, "I haven't lived in Durem for a couple years now. I used to, when I first met David and Josh, but I live in Gambino now. Just couldn't miss out on the festival." She chuckled, glancing back towards Cruz and Prajna for just a moment to see the exchange of flowers, then her attention was right back to Namini. "Oh, um... well I know I haven't met too many overall," trailing off, she brought a hand to her face and rested her palm against it, eyes downcast to the ground while she tried to remember. There was the lovely, dark rose lady whom she met very briefly and never got in contact with again, and then the fin covered red head who seemed poorly behaved. Names were so hard to recall these days. "Wow, I've really only met a few," Anita laughed bashfully at herself. There had to be more Raevans than just the small handful she'd come in contact with. "Which means he's met even less. Um, I know Zul the best but I've also met LuLu, Eiry and Zeke's Raevan, Anastacia." Lifting a finger, she began counting them off, "The rose girl, the red fish boy... Oh! And, um, Zurine and Luka."

She chuckled under her breath when Namini went quiet in thought. Adjusting herself, Anita placed her hands in her pockets and stood with her hip out, grinning softly. "Any of those match up with you?" If Namini listed off any unfamiliar names, Anita would be sure to look them up on the call sheets later and keep them in mind. After all, the sheets were there to be used and what would it hurt to try and schedule meetings when they were all, as Alex said, part of the Lab Family?

Behind the girl's, Cruz's eyes went wide when the star tensed up, hands going rigid and releasing all of the petals he had 'saved'. They fell to the concrete in a light heap without a sound and the croc let out a quiet sigh before smiling sympathetically to the blossoms, and then to Prajna. Its expression and bright red face caught him off guard and Cruz tensed up himself, hovering just an inch or so higher as his wings flared with worry.

"Thank... you?" it spoke uneasily, with great uncertainty.

At this, Cruz made his approach once more, expression laced with concern; his brow was upturned, mouth in a small but taut frown that hid his teeth, and his emerald eyes were wide and attentive -- his gaze would not leave Prajna until he figured out what was wrong. The young frei lifted a hand resting it gently upon the cold star's unusually warm face. A soft sigh left him as his skin soaked up the warmth gladly but he knew this was unusual. "Prrashna..." he purred worriedly, "Is good? Not -- not bad?" His brow crinkled in frustration at his limited vocabulary and he drew his hand back, touching it to his own cheek in an attempt to better illustrate his worry. "Is red," he patted his cheek, "Here, red." Cruz could only hope the star could understand or things may turn even more confusing between them.

“Anastacia? That sounds very… European,” Namini stated a little too rudely. She immediately recoiled and murmured a small apology. “Oh! Prajna’s pretty close with Luka, or so I’ve come to believe. …Though they have a terrible tendency to cause mischief when in each other’s presence. I’m not entirely sure who’s at fault, still, since one time it seemed like they both played some part in a zoo fiasco but then another time… Prajna seemed genuinely apologetic about a little incident that happened. No matter.”

Namini attempted to laugh her rambling on and she wondered how Anita would react to her chattiness; it had been a while since the young girl had ran into 1) another guardian and 2) another guardian her age. It was refreshing to just chit-chat and discuss other mutual friends and relationships. It was similar to being in high school again.

Meanwhile, Prajna was also experiencing a feeling heavily associated with high school: romance. “Romantic” was the word Prajna had finally settled upon, in labeling Cruz’s tenderness. His worrisome affections. His… his… entirety. The way Cruz moved and spoke and looked just screamed romance and affection and yearning and and—

It felt like electricity was rushing through Prajna;s body as the crocodile reached up and caressed the Star’s soft but scorching cheek! The crimson haired Frei tightly shut its eyes, surprising even itself with its foreign shyness, but soon exhaled relief as Cruz retracted his hand and motioned to his own pale cheek. Before the croc could touch it again, Prajna responded, stuttering but still responding as best as it could, “Prajna is fine, Cruz. Is good. Is… almost…too good. Cruz is too…

The Star wondered if its emerald companion would even understand this word but it thought it could give it a shot.

Cruz is acting so …so….romantic with Prajna.

Anita nodded, though it took her a second to realize the tone Namini had taken. She just gave a light shrug, "It works for someone whose name is Ezekiel,", and let the conversation continue without worry. The discussion about Luka was certainly interesting and it was always funny hearing about how small Lab 305 really was when everyone seemed to know each other. Alex had told her, with Zeke and Josh confirming, that the Lab was like a family and she supposed that was true of the Raevans as well. Experiments or not, they were all each other had in the world so it was only natural they would become close. "I've only met him once but he was--" "nice" wasn't quite the word, though he hadn't been disagreeable, "--interesting." For lack of a better term, at least. Anita's eyes lit up a bit at the mention of a fiasco and she laughed a bit. "What happened at the zoo?" Maybe it was better she didn't ask but there was no way of knowing that without being previously acquainted with Prajna's shenanigans.

Shenanigans that her own Raevan still did not comprehend.

The croc offered a relieved smile at Prajna's assurance, taking its words at face value and immediately calming his worries. This didn't last when the star continued, though, and the smile faded to a confused pout. Too good? Was such a thing even possible? Then a new word came out, one he had heard before but never learned the meaning. His brows knit gently while his gaze averted to the ground. Since he couldn't dissect the word "romantic" merely from context clues and his behavior didn't seem strange at all, he had to go with what he did understand.

"Too good," he repeated, mulling it over. The phrase sounded so odd. "Good is good, but too good..." It took a few seconds, but realization lit up his eyes and Cruz lifted his head, matching gazes with the cold star. "...is bad?" Concern washed over him again, spreading out over his entire body rather than just his face. His hands lifted, wrapping around and holding his arms. The frei practically deflated, floating a bit lower. His eyes didn't leave Prajna's blues, but now they looked twice as pitiful as the croc hovered lower than the star and had to look up at his companion. "Am sorry," Cruz grumbled softly, both of their guardians still wrapped in conversation and unaware, "Not want be bad. Not want Prashna red if bad."

Romantic was still something he couldn't wrap his mind around. Too good was still difficult for him to understand, because "good" was what he knew as universally pleasant. A measurement of pleasantness reaching its apex and suddenly becoming unpleasant completely boggled the crocodile's mind, whether that was really what Prajna meant or not. Even still, Cruz did not see himself acting any differently than he normally did, but perhaps it was true. After all, the star and its red was extremely attractive to the green croc and indeed he liked the attention from Prajna and seeing its cheeks match its hair. But now, suddenly, he thought this was not a thing he should enjoy and perhaps unintentionally he was taking advantage of the star or making it uncomfortable. No, those were certainly not things he wanted to do and it was frustrating that he was still so young and unworldly to not understand or know the right words to say just that.

At Anita's question, Namini immediately tensed and blushed. Recalling how easily she had lost control of and had actually lost Prajna at the zoo was beyond regretful and embarrassing. But the girl would feel rude if she didn't at least try and answer her new friend's question. Maybe ...Anita had behavioral problems with Cruz too? Suddenly, the idea of Anita and Namini sitting in a living room, drinking tea and exchanging mothering tips, with their Freis playing somewhere nearby overtook her. It seemed like a nice possibility!

"Well Prajna has a bad habit of making mischief...wherever it goes, with whoever it's with. So we went to the zoo and ran into Luka and Mr. Jezabroux and then, as Mr. Jezabroux and I were having a nice conversation... our Freis just bolt into the crowd! It took us forever to find them but luckily they were unharmed. It seemed they had some kind of bonding experience while we were missing as well, though I'm not exactly sure what happened," Namini recalled. Thinking back, she continued suddenly with her train of thought, "I don't think I was ever able to get Prajna to tell me what happened. What about you? Any...um..problems with Cruz? With him being new and all?"

What... was happening?

Prajna watched curiously, almost concernedly as Cruz began a small descent, cradling himself in his arms, as if suddenly cold, though that wasn't possible as it was a perfectly warm day outside. Then the murmurings began. Prajna had to lean closer to the crocodile soul to make out what he was saying. His voice sounded so ...guilty. Bad? What was he going on about?

Glancing over at their owners and noting their preoccupied body language, the Star took this opportunity to suddenly pull itself and Cruz out of their awkward mindsets. Prajna suddenly, perhaps a bit too roughly, lifted Cruz back to his original height and hissed, albeit a bit affectionately and genuinely, "Cruz. Don't be sorry. Nothing to be sorry for. You are too good but not bad just.. Maybe too good of person for Prajna. You are very...very.."

The awkwardness returned and Prajna didn't know how better to phrase the next words. With its small hands still gripping the other Frei's shoulders firmly, the redhead took a moment to recompose. It closed its eyes and searched for a word. There were actually many words capable of clarification but if Cruz had mistaken the word "romantic" for something bad, perhaps it was best to keep things simple. Prajna let out a small frustrated sigh and opened its eyes, locking its piercing gaze with Cruz's emerald orbs. Perhaps it was best avoiding laziness and use proper grammar to make sense.

"Romantic is not a bad thing Cruz. It makes people feel good here" Prajna pointed at the center of Cruz's chest. "It's just...some times... it makes people red in the face, "blush", and people don't know what to think. Romantic means you like someone. Like... kissing and.. holding hands...and..."

For a split moment, a memory of the angry Varun flashed through Prajna's thoughts and the Star reddened.

"It makes people think you have a crush on them. You ... like them... a lot. And we just met. You.. don't like me ... a lot... do.. you?" Still proud as ever, Prajna finally released Cruz and fluttered backwards, giving the croc space, the blush adamant on its cheeks.
