It was exactly 8 am. He’d gotten up at 6, cuddled, eaten breakfast, gathered the files, the photos and- Hoped to god he didn’t get harassed for what he was doing. Technically, he shouldn’t know about that secret info. They hacked their way into the computer after all, unlocked files. Hell, he wasn’t even in death division, he wasn’t- ******** it. He was here in the life labs at 8 am and he wanted answers. Photos laid out he began to look for names on the back, holding his nerves tight as pictures of them both dead and alive came up on scene.

Needless to say, some didn’t have picture of bodies. Maybe a limb. But others? He could do without.

He was going numb to it. To the images of death. If he was honest with himself it scared him how they had to deal with this. To face death in not just images but- They were hunters, this was the risk they took. As he flipped to another photo, the one of all the hunters gathered he thought about what Dr. H as said to him. They had all died. Each and every one. If they were from the same group at the 200 from the file-

Marcus’s eyes widened. Two hundred went in. Two survivors. H had been the assistant and- He slammed his head on the desk next to the keyboard. The doctor had practically spelled it out for him and only now was it starting to make ******** sense. He banged his forehead on the desk a bit more for good measure, a few hunters in the halls giving him annoyed glances.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 16, 2012 10:52 pm

One of those annoyed glances came from a particularly familiar source. Robert wasn't going to bother Marcus when he noticed the man hard at work, searching through something over by the computers, but as soon as he started bashing his head into the keyboard, it made Robert drop the beaker he'd been mixing, and ruining his experiment completely. Granted, he had already messed up all the components, but HE didn't know that. The mixture started to seep into the desk, burning through the metal, and Robert stared at it for a second, before sighing and using a fire extinguisher on it.

...His reasoning for such an action is none of your business.

He cleaned up the area with a towel, and then stomped over to the computers, leaning heavily on the top of the one Marcus was using, and giving him a confused stare.

"So, okay. I heard, and just try to follow me here 'cause I know this is hard but - I heard that if you use your fingers, those keyboards work better. Don't quote me on it though." His face split in a toothy grin.

It was kind of odd to hear Robert of all people in the labs as he usually seemed more inclined towards physical than mental tasks. Taking a deep breath, Marcus lifted his head, looking at the other trainee before cracking a small smile of his own. "True enough. Just-" He moved another photo and checked the date and name, entering into the database. The same death was listed. "I've been trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Ever since we ran across those files-" Tapping on the screen the mouse moved over the date.

"A while back I ran into an abandoned house down in the town with a photo room. Had dozens of hunters pinned to a wall. All the photos ending in 1999 right?" Leaning back he picked up another photo, repeating the process. "So far, every one I've looked up has the same death listed. Same mission. Half the s**t is classified, but what I basically just figured the ******** out-"

Pulling out the group photo he pointed to two figures. Both very familiar looking. "Recognize our division leaders? They were the two survivors." He was talking a lot really. "I feel like a ******** idiot for not realizing it sooner."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 17, 2012 12:04 am

From his vantage point, Robert could only see the pictures that Marcus had in his folder, and they looked kind of interesting. When he tapped the mouse and started looking on the screen of the computer, however, Robert moved around and took a seat beside him, turning it around and saddling it.

A split second later he was stumbling back, away from the screen, and the chair went clattering to the floor.

"What the ******** are you lookin' at, man?!" Robert yelped, trying with all of his might not to look at the computer screen. Death. Missions. 1999. Marcus was speaking jibberish to Robert.

He took the picture Marcus was pointing at, and held it up close to his face. He caught sight of H immediately, but it was Cael, standing in the center of the photo, that had him staring. Something was tugging at his memory. Something.. important.

He put down the pic, and stared at Marcus like he had two heads. "Two survivors to what?"

Marcus wasn't sure he should be happy or sad that Robert was more clueless then him. He sighed and rubbed his head. "I think, I'm looking at what might be us soon if we don't wise the ******** up Robert." Pulling his hand down his face he sighed again. "Sorry I'm just..trying to take this in okay? Let me back track here." Holding up the group photo, Marcus pointed to Caelius and Dr. H. "When I went to talk to Dr. H about this, to ask if this really was him and Caelius, which he did confirm and by the way I think this photo should be uploaded into the files on all the computers." The photo he handed Robert showed a very red, young Caelius with a very busty woman draped over him.

"Anyway, point is, he said that they were division assistants at the time and their 'promotion was only hours away'." Marcus hoped Robert was following. "Now a while back Saya found a flash drive that Deryk managed to hack into. Please follow me here Robert." He continued on, keeping his voice down the whole time. "In these files were mission reports with the level called 'Apocalypse'. dated in 1999, the same times the photo was taken, the same time all the photos end. But Aria, H, and Ben, were the ones who filed the reports. H's report was about rebuilding Deus, and he listed himself as life's assistant. Other report? Out of two hundred that went on the mission only two survived." He tapped the photo again. "You getting this? What ever the ******** happened in 1999 killed one hundred ninety eight hunters. And the best part comes with what else Dr. H told me."

"If things keep going on as they are 'we might have the chance to relive that night'." He sighed. "Thus, I am thinking we're looking at our own fates."

Marcus's explanation came at a heavy price. Robert kept looking from the photo, to the computer, no longer disgusted by what he saw. Distraction had started to pull him away from his train of thought as he stared down at the picture, but when Marcus asked him to focus, he disregarded that niggling feeling he got every time he looked at Caelius in exchange for the bigger, more terrible picture; one that painted itself very vividly in red when Marcus detailed the number of casualties.

Robert's face paled to white, and his eyes sunk in as he tried to wrap his mind around it.

"H-hold on a second." He put one hand up on his head, and closed his eyes, as the burden of so much knowledge at once took it's toll on his mind. "I can't handle this. It's too much. Let me try to get this straight." One eye opened as he stared at the computer. "Buncha years ago, there were 200 hunters. And they got sent on a mission. And everybody but two people-" The picture had answered that question- "H and Cael, I guess, died? Like, everybody?"

He'd been on missions. Accepted casualties. Known that their job was a high risk factor. He'd even accepted that he'd probably die on a mission, one day. But there was a severe difference between one or two good men dying... and two hundred of them dying at once.

"What the ******** kind of mission WAS this?" His voice hitched as he asked. "Is there any intel on the actual mission setting, or goal? I mean, I'd really like to call in sick the day they send us back to wherever the ******** that massacre happened."

Well , at least he was following. Truthfully Marcus had been worried Robert would just.... not..get it. Looking back at the screen at the dead hunter, he frowned, minimizing the window. "...Going off what we have fond out, and collaborating it with what H told me.... yes. I'd be willing to bet that indeed, everyone but Caelius and H died in that mission, with trainees not present. The only reason sans trainees, is both Aria and Ben were listed as trainees who filed missions reports of the aftermath."

He felt somewhat drained really. "The mission was listed as Apocolypse, and being 1999, there was that Y2k scare right? It's possible that s**t was tied together. Throw in the fact that the mission reports included talk of horsemen, naming war, famine, pestilence and conquest- If all fits. H said the world almost ended that night but obviously it didn't." Bringing up the simple search engine he typed out the term. The first result was the same as before.

'World's End 2012'

"Think about our last missions. s**t is falling into place. H is weird as all hell but I doubt he's the type to joke around about this type of stuff. How many hunters are really around Robert? It took almost two hundred to stop whatever happened last time, and-" a click and the image of the dead hunter was back up. "I really don't think there are that many active hunters left."

Robert had enough to worry about - the end of the world didn't really want to sit well in his mind.

"Why the hell are we supposed to be in charge of saving the goddamn world, anyway." He grumbled, trying to hide the tremble in his voice. "This s**t is ridiculous."

He slumped into his seat, and frowned at Marcus. It took a minute, but he finally sighed and faced the music. "The mistakes of the past are supposed to save the future. If we know about this s**t now, we've got to figure out what went wrong there, and not make the same mistake."

And that was Robert's one tiny glimmer of wisdom in a sea of uselessness. It just wasn't enough to actually figure out a plan. "Got any ideas?"

They could agree on the ridiculous part. Sadly, for what he was saying Marcus had little aside from the few straws he'd managed to grasp. "Honestly, aside from training our asses off, not much. Considering H basically told me... some pretty secret stuff given the whole hidden file aspect, he might be willing to tell more. But I doubt it as well? I think he told me because overall, what he told me are things that without those files, wouldn't have made much sense until the end. Do you-"

It was a long shot , long as ********. "Do you think you'd be able to get into the database and pull up any info on the recent stuff? Like this 2012 s**t? I mean, life runs the computers, but death runs intel so maybe death would be better?" He went back to rubbing his head. "Until we know what that mistake was, we're running blind. We don't know any details or any of the plans. We're running off of what amount to assumptions."
PostPosted: Mon Mar 19, 2012 6:10 am

Robert leaned back in his chair, pinching his face in dismay. "I'm not much of a hacker.. I mean, I can get into the database, but any information that's classified is going to be beyond my reach. And that's probably the stuff we want, too."

He ran his hands through his hair, and sighed. "But I'll try. Give me a day, and I'll work on it. Maybe I'll get lucky, you know?" It was doubtful.. but he'd been around the technicians long enough to catch their lingo. He knew the basics of where to go for the classified files. It was just a matter of actually getting into them.. and if he had any chance of that, it would be based on pure luck.

"But as soon as I get in, someone's gonna know. There'll be a digital paper trail a mile long.. with my death certificate at the end of it. Still, I doubt I'll find anything - and we're dead anyway if we don't, right?" He laughed callously, shaking his head. "Besides, the mistake we need to figure out happened in 1999, and you guys already got in there. Show me how you got that, and maybe I can find something of use in those files."

Figures. It was a long shot but they were still ********. "Try is all I can ask for, and if they catch you you can say like... I was going to go after Petra?" He held his hands up, "not that I would. Just- if s**t comes down on you I'll take the heat just as much." He'd pulled Robert into it more or less.

"This type of s**t freaks me out. No lie, this is the kind of stuff you're not supposed to place any faith in." He closed the files, gathered up the photos. "I can write down the names of the hunters I have, see if I can't dig up any more info from them." A glance back at the Caelius photo. "And dude that s**t is ******** gold."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 21, 2012 5:30 am

Despite the flash of red that Robert saw when Marcus barely mentioned the mere idea of going after Petra, he shook his head and laughed. "Nah. There'd be no point. If I get in trouble, pinning it on someone else ain't gonna ease my punishment - just end up dragging you along with me. Don't worry, I'm practically in trouble for everything else, lately."

He sat back in his chair, and picked up the picture, holding it close to his face and squinting at the small figures. "Soo.. yeah.. write down that info.. and I'll do what I can. Is he.. is Caelius literally surrounded by girls in this pic, or what?" There was one at his arm, one against his other side, and there was even some busty chick on top of him - wait a minute..

He put down the picture and his finger smashed against the girl on top of Cael suddenly. "Holy s**t. That's M! Do you have any idea the s**t we've got on her? She was a stripper, and her file is chock full of-" Robert looked up at Marcus, and cleared his throat. "-of uhh. Personal information. Yeah. I'll uh. I'll start with her first." His eyes rolled innocently away. "Guess that means she's dead, huh? That's a shame, she had the sweetest set of-".. another innocent look. "Mission reports."

Well, that was slightly nice to know. If Robert got caught he wouldn't have to worry, granted he might feel a bit guilty but hey, not his head was fine with him. He'd take it.
"I can get the list to you by tonight, drop it off at your room. And yes." He resisted chuckling. "That's the beloved death leader, surrounded by busy women who seem to want to hang off him." The following reaction Robert had to the woman at first registered as shock but then-

"....It's full of porn isn't it?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 29, 2012 4:26 am

Robert's slow, grinch-like grin gave away his answer before he could say it. "Honestly, I wouldn't even call it porn. It's more like, just, I don't know. Some beautiful stuff, okay. But it's not like videos of her ********, so by technicality alone it's not porn. Anyway, any of these files might hold a clue. I'll take a look." Or two. Or three, in M's case. His eyes travelled back to the picture, and his brow furrowed in confusion. The boy in the picture.. that same young man who'd come to save him when he was caught up with Circe. Cael.. but not Cael anymore. And it was all because of her.

"Say.. Marcus." He continued to glare hard at the picture, taking in more than just Cael's face, but always returning to him. "You ain't never heard any rumors about the possibility of detaching yourself from your weapon after you've bonded, have you? Like.. if it's even possible?"

As far as Marcus was concerned from Robert's reaction? It was probably on par with porn. "Technicalities... okay. From now on I think I'm going to carry around disinfectant with me anytime I have to use the computers." He smiled a bit though, it was somewhat amusing in the sense that naked women were on file. Dead naked women kind of killed it for him though.

"Um... weapons.. Un-bonding? One sec." Closing his eyes he picked at the vampire in his head.

Dis?
Welllllll...
Dis how would it be possible?
I suppose in theory if one of use grew to resent or hate the hunter they might force their bond to break, but who's to say the side effects. We do tie ourselves to your mind.
Any other way?
Well the most obvious one you should already know.
That being?
Death.

Opening his eyes, he frowned. "Dis guesses if a weapon truly hated or resented their hunter they might force the bond to break, but he's not sure what that would mean. The other option he pointed out was death. So... I would assume that it might be possible but like... not really? I've never heard of a weapon un-bonding though..." A shrug. "Why?"
