Angharad trotted into the open field - slowly at first, as she looked cautiously for lurking skin walkers or wolves, but relaxed a bit as she felt the warming spring sun on her face. She was happy to see the signs of spring - the first wildflowers starting to bloom in the greenest areas and the wind no longer carrying such icy chill on its breeze. She tossed her mane and headed over to the creek, taking a short respite as she drank from the cold running water. The mountains were still snowcapped this early in the season, so the water was crisp and frigid - great for drinking but quickly dashed any ideas of a swim.

After having her fill she took a few moments to gather her thoughts, looking over the open field for signs of adventure or intrigue.

Isiyah stretched his legs, stiff from the cold winter months, as the sun loomed overhead in the sky, casting warm rays onto his light gray muzzle. He tilted his head, one eye closed, squinting through his long mane at the yellow orb. Thank god, Thought the stallion, indignantly exhaling a burst of air through his nostrils. There were still lingering patches of snow, despite the warm temperature and as the stallion walked among the trees he was sure to avoid stepping into the cold white areas which lingered. The stallion headed downhill toward a field he knew lay at the base of forest, hoping to find a nice warm spot where he could relax and bathe in the sunlight. Although the weather was becoming nicer, Isiyah was still displeased; the Arabian stallion was used to much more scorching heat and seriously abhorred the snow and freezing winds which often mingled with one another.

His hooves clopped along against the dull ground as he walked, lifting his knees high, as he was accustomed to doing, with every step. his long tail flowed in the light breeze, a slight shiver running through him, but he quickly discarded it and increased his pace to a light trot, anxious to be completely encompassed by the warmth of the sun's rays which he suspected were beating down pleasantly upon the field. The trees began to part and the light green grass of the field was visible through the gaps. Slowing once again to a mild saunter, he reached the edge on the forest, the trees halting at the forest's edges. Dark grays eyes swiftly examined the field, his eyebrows contorting and the corners of his mouth pulled down suddenly in a slight frown. The stallion's eyes were transfixed upon another horse already occupying the field. Isiyah hadn't seen another being, aside from those whom he shared a teepee, in a number of months. He tilted his head slightly, his ears flicking back and forth as he considered what to do.

This mare, he decided she must be so due to her slender dark figure, would not be a hindrance on his desire to enjoy the warmth of the field. The stallion watched as the other extended her head down near the creek and as she did this Isiyah suddenly noticed his own thirst. Disgruntled, he marched a few paces into the field, neighing softly with a snort here and there to inform the other of his presence. The slight scowl remained on his face, his one ear back as he waited for the mare to give a response.

Angharad heard a snort and soft neigh coming from behind where she was looking off into the distance, and it seemed to shake her from her thoughts. She turned and looked at the handsome stallion heading in her direction - towards the stream at least. She smiled and backed up a few paces, relieving any hindrance to the watering source. "Good morning," she said pleasantly, bowing her head and dipping her hindquarters in a polite courtesy of sorts. She flipped her blue-black mane over her shoulder and looked over the newcomer particularly impressed by his infinitely detailed embroidered blanket. "Lovely day today, isn't it?" he asked politely, offering a smile.

The stallion observed the mare's actions with a slight smirk on his lips. Feeling he should return the favor he bowed his head to her before taking a few steps more toward the female and removing the distance from the stream as well. "Yes, quite lovely," He began. "It seems I'm not the only only enjoying it." Isiyah's dark orbs examined the mare's appearance. Although he knew others with bridles, he had never seen another wearing a saddle. The mare's saddle, like his, was quite elaborate; obviously it served more for decoration, just as his did. Regardless of its purposes, Isiyah was extremely fond of his saddle and wore it with pride.

His eyes then traveled to the stream, and he closed the final distance between himself and the water; his neck arched down and his muzzle dipped into the liquid. The gentle trickle of the still chilling water felt nice against his nose, especially since the rest of his body was becoming warm as the sun heated his fur. After enjoying a long drink he raised his head back up, once again turning to the mare. "Where are my manners," he said, giving a reproachful shake of his head, "My name is Isiyah." The stallion gave a faint smile, waiting for the mare's response.

Angharad's smile grew even wider as he mentioned manners and introduced himself. What a gentleman! "My name is Angharad," she said enthusiastically. Though certainly no filly, she was a very young mare, and in her limited journey had not come across too many stallions that met her bar for chivalry or poise. "Nice to meet you. Isiyah. I love that name, very...hmmm, exotic sounding." She blinked, "Oh, but in a good way."

She looked back over his extremely elaborate garment, smiling. "Excuse me, but can I look closer?" she asked, nodding to the fabric.

"Your name is very unique as well, and if I may say so it seems very fitting." The male gave a small tilt of his head, genuinely meaning what he had said. Isiyah noticed that the mare had quite a spirit; he could appreciate that. "I suppose my name is exotic," a countenance of thought spread over his face."It makes sense though, since I'm from a far away land that I'm sure very few have ventured to." He gave a light chuckle at her words.

"Of course I won't mind if examine my saddle more closely," he stated, a smile on his lips. He was secretly excited for the mare to come closer, the roses upon her saddle were emitting a sweet aroma that was enticing.

"Thank you!" she said happily, her tail swishing behind her. "I do love it so. I thank my parents for being so eloquent." Her eyes seemed to sparkle with curiosity as he spoke on about his travels. "You're from a far-away land?" she asked, her voice full of whimsy. "That's fascinating. Was it difficult to travel so far away from your home?"

She stepped closer to him to observe his intricately detailed dressings. "That's a saddle?" Her voice held a a slight tone of incredulity, but mostly genuine curiosity, "I've never seen a saddle quite like that. Is that what saddles look like where you're from? Are they all so detailed and beautiful?"

The stallion's lip tugged up in a slight smirk by the mare's curiosity to learn more about him. "I'm from the arid deserts of the far off east. Sometimes I miss it, but as for was the journey difficult the answer is no. I grew accustomed to... traveling long distances." In truth Isiyah had a certain resentment toward his homeland, the treacherous conditions to which he had been subjected and the brutality of the riders who once had smacked his hindquarters repeated with crops. The stallion withheld this information, not wanting to elect pity or too much intrigue from the mare. He never really discussed his past with anyone; it always just seemed easier not to mention it because he didn't want to think about it.

Isiyah paused for a moment, in thought. "Some saddles are like this yes, they are used in great displays and shows. Mine is quite detailed though, even for most. I don't think I've ever seen one with as many tassels as mine." His voice was jovial and he emitted a pleasant laugh. "Your saddle is quite unique though as well. Do saddles from this area have ribbons and flowers?" Another whiff of the sweet scent flooded into his nostrils.

"That's fascinating," she said with a genuine enthusiasm. "I've never seen a desert before. I wouldn't think there would be a lot of Soquili there - what did you eat?"

She stepped around him, still looking him over as he continued with his story. "Oh, it must be very special then," she said, referring to his saddle. "I've never seen one quite like it - the tassels are lovely. You should be proud," she said, with a sage nod. As he took noticed of her own, she couldn't help but smile to herself, taking a step back to pose delicately for a moment, swaying her withers. "Oh this? No, not most of them," she said, referring to the ribbons and flowers. "I got this from my father, he wears one that's sort of similar. She let out a giggle, "He always told me he came from a carousel, now I don't how true that is, but have you seen those? A carousel? I haven't but father says they are a big toy for two leggers with life-sized carvings of Soquili just dressed from hoof to head in the most elaborate costumes."

Isiyah had never considered this before. "There isn't much to eat in the desert, that is true. There are, however, quite a large number of soquili. Every so often there would be an oasis where the water was sweet and the plants were a deep green and quite delicious. I suppose we just became used to not having much in the way of a diet..." The stallion thought back, trying to recall what else riders had fed him during his life in the sands.

The stallion was very proud of his show saddle; it was elaborate and heavy but it didn't stir up such resentful feelings as had the saddle that two-leggers had used for endurance.

"Your father must be ecstatic to have a daughter who wears the a similar garment to his with such grace." His dark orbs watched her as she poses and he chuckled softly at her adorable actions. "I really have never heard of a... carousel before. I don't mean to be rude, but it sounds rather ridiculous." A scowl appeared on his face, confused by the preposterous idea of life sized carving of soquili parading ornate garments.

"Oh, a desert oasis, that sounds lovely," she said, listening intently. She was very attentive, now that she had observed the saddle so closely she was listening to Isiyah with apt attention, her blue eyes happily keeping locked with his.

The inside of her ears darkened slightly as he mentioned her father. "Yes, he is very proud" she said. "He's such a stunning stallion, the best father I foal like me could ask for. He's beautiful!' She broke into a melodic giggle at his observation about the carousel. "I have never one seen one myself," she admitted, "But Father says they are quite beautiful." She rolled her shoulders, not offended by his blunt observation.

Isiyah smiled at Angharad as he listened to her speak fondly about her father. "Well carousels must be quite mesmerizing to see," the stallion reasoned. "Only such gorgeous lineage could account for your beauty." The mare was quite stunning in her own right, and even if these carousel things sounded ridiculous, they must be quite intricate and take a certain eye to notice all the effort put into the detailed work of the saddles and bridles.

"Your saddle is so colorful," He said with a chuckle. "Makes me jealous. Some people tell me that mine is plain because it lacks color. Others with saddles such as mine often have red, blue or yellow tassels and details to make them stand out more." The stallion had a pensive look on his face as he though back to when he was paraded around the ring with other Arabians, picking up his hooves in beat to the drums that rang in his ears.

Angharad felt her skin burn in a blush, the pink of her ears blushing profusely at his flattery. But she took the compliment, squeaking out a shy "Thank you," as he called her beautiful. She gave a little clear of her throat, "I've always been envious of my mother and father's beauty."

She gave a look of surprise when he said he was jealous of her color, "But even so!" she exclaimed, looking back closely to his own saddle, "Look at all the detail. And anyway, it wasn't lack color at all," she was quick to point out. "Black and white and grey... well, those are colors, too right?" And mean, if it had no color then it would be..." she paused, trying to conceptualize the idea, "invisible!" she finished with a giggle.

"Well I'm sure I've never met them but your mother must be very pretty and your father must be handsome. It would nice to be able to make their acquaintance I'm sure." The mare had exceptional manners, which he was sure had been passed down to her from her parents. They must have quite the family, he thought. A pang of jealousy tugged at Isiyah; even though he considered the Soquili that resided in the same teepee as him to be his family members, he didn't technically have a family. He had been torn away from his mother at a young age and he was positive that he had never met the one who sired him. "Do you see them often?" He inquired pleasantly, keeping the conversation polite.

He smiled, a jovially laugh leaving him at the mare's point. "Yes," he admitted, "I suppose if my saddle were actually colorless then it would be invisible." The thought was most amusing to the stallion. "Even so," he continued, though he never finished, not really sure of what his argument was anymore, or if he even had one at all. "It fits me, doesn't it?" He asked her, a smirk tugging at his lips and swishing his tail. "I don't suspect that yellow would look all that sophisticated on me. I much prefer black and gray, thank you."
