PERSONALITYUser Image
To outsiders, Jack is a taciturn and supercilious girl (often mistaken as a male) that exercises brevity over wit. She'd like to think she is witty, but she admits (only to herself) that she probably isn't. Additionally, Jack lacks eloquence when the situation calls for it; she can be rather outspoken. When she was younger, her sisters and friends would encourage her to let them speak for her to minimize her social anxieties, and often, Jack's intentions were lost in what they said. Thus, Jack's experience with people outside her social circle was limited since she didn't interact with them as much as she hoped to. The same social method has been ingrained into her as a developing adolescent. She doesn't seem to mind when people act on her behalf, but she isn't shy nor meek. Jack simply believes that sometimes there isn't much to say on a topic, and other times fewer. However, she's loquacious when the subject of discussion is science fiction or general maths and sciences, so the majority of her friends are boys. She's been able to speak out for herself recently though, entering High School has toughened her inside and out.

When Jack does have something to say, she's awfully down-to-earth, contrary to her galactic interests. Her frankness often leads to her demise, and makes her out as condescending or rude. To Jack, indecisiveness a myth (and ironically, her Achilles heel); she generally takes the "
Black Box" theorem is taken into account (which Jack somehow manages to insert into almost every dinner conversation with her sisters). Jack, in a sense, is the incarnate of the Black Box herself: a girl who understands her place in society as a child--but isn't sure of what her capabilities and actions will produce. She doesn't see herself as pretty or flashy, rather, she humbles herself and adopts a male appearance. She's conscious that making friends is difficult for her, verbally. This is also one of the reasons that Jack allows others to speak for her, so that she may perhaps discover new things about herself and improve who she is, or appears to be. She's very unsure about the world and her part in it. Nonetheless, JJ is not a quitter. She will try to speak out for herself at first, and if others respond negatively, she'll think of alternative ways to compromise.

Like her interests, Jack is flighty! She doesn't like to finish a job through to the end, and instead, leaves cliffhangers. Because she is unable to adhere to any(thing) or person, Jack doesn't have a best friend to rely on. Instead, she "makes" new best friends: creatures, spacemen, and machines made from junk and scraps. Her sisters consider her to be a creative sprite, though many of her classmates find her "best friends" eerie and revolting. She has a habit of naming her creations after people she meets. She records her lifetime through these critters, displaying them in her room in chronological order to remember people she met at the corresponding age. To Jack, even if she doesn't have too many, relationships are very important--even if the person she spoke to was a cashier or a bus driver. She believes that she is mundane, but that others, no matter their occupation or social stature, are not. Therefore, she collects physical "replicas" of them, in hopes that perhaps, over time, she can learn from them, be the sentimental lessons be big or small in impact. Jack's favorite analogy is Luke Skywalker, a young farm boy who reached the potential of a Jedi Knight. She hopes that she, too, can go on a pilgrimage to become something bigger than herself. She wants to believe so strongly that the sky is not the limit and owns her own collection of video recordings of space shuttle launches and aeronautic documentaries. However, it is (ironically) Jack's own cowardice that prevents her from aspiring to follow in the path of her idols. No matter who it is she will become, or can become, she assumes she will always be Jack to everyone that knows her--nothing more, and nothing less.

Jack appears to be lost most of the time, and additionally forgetful. Her eyes seem to always be "looking" for something, but she never sees herself through to find it. Many assume it's an idiosyncrasy of hers, so she doesn't receive much help from others outside of people speaking for her because those that are familiar with her figure that she's playing a trick on them or fooling with them. On the contrary, Jack truly is lost in her own galaxy, finding it difficult for anyone to relate to what she has to say other than her teachers. Her conversations cover both sides of the spectrum, but (usually) never the middle. JJ figures that people usually either take her seriously or not at all. Jack herself is conscious that it's the conflict between her own sureness and uncertainty/forgetfulness that makes it difficult for her to cope with herself and her life decisions. Events that are out of her control or focus trigger her forgetful side whereas things that she's 100% confident that she can accomplish or has somewhat of a familiarity in (such as academics) make her feel more sure of herself. When flustered, JJ will nonetheless act casually in masking her mistakes. She knows that she has difficulties focusing on things she thinks are irrelevant (when, in many cases, they are just the opposite). This also exhibits JJ's incompetence despite her prideful exterior.

APPEARANCEUser Image
Jack has short, unkempt brown hair. She's inherited the trademark grey eyes of a Johnson and wears contact lenses
but sometimes dons her "
silly glasses". She embraces her freckles and the fact that she's tall enough to be mistaken
for a male, and doesn't attempt much to make herself appear more womanly. Her wardrobe consists of cardigans, dress
shirts, dirty jeans, and the occasional overalls. The more people she traps, the more satisfied she is. Additionally, her
fingers are usually wrapped in band-aids from her tinkering. JJ never truly learns.

HISTORY & HOME LIFEUser Image
Jacqueline grew up in a very busy household. The Johnson family is quite extensive, and their first and oldest home resided in the Alabama countryside. JJ's family was never a religious which set them apart from their neighbors. Many members of their small community blamed their lack of religious enthusiasm as the root of the Johnson daughters' flaws. However, all the neighbors were well aware that the Johnsons are strong patriots. To the Johnson family, it didn't matter whether the current party in power was Democrat or Republican as long as the America was improving in their time. They wanted to believe that their three girls were growing in the best country, and even if other countries were outdoing their own, they believed that the U.S. was still making the effort to catch up. All three Johnson daughters were named after first ladies: Abigail (the oldest of the three), Eleanor (the middle daughter), and finally, Jacqeline (the youngest of the trio). The three were raised in a politically active environment and taught the foundations of American history. Naturally, all three were proficient in the subject of history, though the rest of their niches varied. The trio attended public schools in Alabama until Jacqueline would attend Middle School. Abigail and Eleanor did well enough in their studies; both eventually graduated from college with sustainable jobs. Jacqueline never considered colleges or hinted at an occupational direction with the classes she wanted to take at school. For Jacqueline, every sport was a triumph and every club a new experience. Her mother and father were working parents, one overseas and the other at a screen in most of his days. Huey Johnson had been a long time employee of a small engineering company in Alabama, but because of its ill-timed fall (right before Jacqueline would enter high school), he would have to search for a job elsewhere. Solving Huey's misfortune involved the entire Johnson family, and it was Abigail (who had, by this time, been working overseas for an advertising company) that helped her father earn a deal in Tuefel town. When Huey began working at his new employment, he interacted with Jacqueline less. Her sisters were her true family in her development, and it was Abigail who mailed her sister tapes of outer space and aviary feats and Eleanor who sent her tutorial videos in sculpturing. Her hobbies themselves were inspired by the elder Johnsons, and this pleased Jacqueline for it proved that the three of them shared a strong bond. She enjoyed drawing analogies between the galaxies and her own, grounded world. It became more apparent to JJ that outer space was more like her than the planet Earth. Everything in space was near, but far, and infinity itself was a wonderful thing to learn about. While her sisters were always with her in all that she explored, they wouldn't be together for long.

Abigail was more inclined towards adventure overseas, and Eleanor felt that her responsibility was still in the home. Abigail blamed her middle sister's behavior on love, for Eleanor's boyfriend was one of her work colleagues and had no intention of marrying her anytime soon. Each Johnson had always been preoccupied in their own intentions, and Jacqueline knew this well. She never made an effort to involve her family in her hobbies and fun, and she knew better to believe that Eleanor stayed behind for her. In Middle School, Jacqueline befriended a few boys that shared her interest and developed odd hobbies of her own. While other children went to the library to finish homework, JJ would visit the metro. She visited the nearest station just to watch people come and go, sitting at a station seat whilst doing her homework. She enjoyed watching the different faces pass, and they became the inspirations for her artificial friends. They "grew up" with her, and they didn't "need" to be perfect. Many of them were made from junk, scrap metal, and it was because of constant her visits to the nearby dump to fetch materials that JJ preferred to dress in darker colors and jeans to mask the grit. When she wasn't at the metro station, at home, or the dump, she was at the town hobby store, seeing what else could possibly p***k her interest. What was she good at? What could she be good at? Such questions filled the youngest Johnson's mind. Her description of herself as "mundane" wasn't the same as a "Plain Jane" but as someone who hasn't found the ignition within themselves to be able to cause the world to feel something from her. It was only augmented by her fathers' constant reminiscing about past Presidents, especially Kennedy, which would bruise Jack more due to her namesake.

At school, her small-knit group of friends assured her that she was fine the way she was (like most teenagers would) and that it was truly unnecessary to question herself such things, but she still wondered nonetheless. She was glad that her friends were all boys, and how she dressed didn't influence them to think of her any other way. It seemed to make them like her more, and often they forgot that she was a female. She didn't speak like a girl much, and her interests were far from feminine. In high school, people began to wonder if she was exploring other sexualities, and JJ made it angrily clear that she was simply uninterested in committed relationships. She was, ultimately, committed to herself, and what would become of her. She thought that college was a constricting word, and she always referred to it as an "opportunity". When Abigail asked JJ if she'd like to attend an Ivy League, JJ strictly replied that "the Ivy Opportunity would be an interesting one" but she wasn't sure if her own skills were proficient enough. She attended enough clubs for a wide plethora, and participated in softball and soccer. Her father once said that JJ was more adventurous in her academic choices than her sisters, but Jack would always refute such a statement with her own: "I'm still searching." Her attitude towards the activities she chose also irritated her family. JJ would participate in something long enough to discover if she could become good at it or not, and if she couldn't, she'd drop it. At first, her counselors explained that it could very much be an ego issue and that JJ simply couldn't bear the idea of failure. It became more clear after Jack herself became present in one of these discussions that "she wasn't interested because it wasn't interesting" that she couldn't be good at something if she wasn't on good terms with it.

JJ always felt that her family was asking a broader question to her than they were helping her. "Is there life on Mars?" "Do you care about yourself?"

Of course she did. It had nothing to do with them, though.

FAMILYUser Image
User Image Huey Johnson | Age 50 | works as an engineer at Circuit Systems

A balding, lanky man with an awkward mustache and exercises brevity with passion. He cares very much for his children and enjoys using technology rather than his mouth. His conversations with his wife are always over chatting programs, and Abigail herself has stopped referring to him as "Dad" and instead "Gruff Voice" in a joking manner. He met Liza Johnson in Highschool back when the two of them still lived in Alabama. He worries about JJ despite that he doesn't say much about it. He gets angry when Eleanor and JJ eats microwave dinners and blames it upon himself.

User Image Liza Johnson | Age 46 | works as a freelance graphic designer
An easily-excited woman with a long-lasting love for fifty's haircuts. She doesn't have much time as she claims she does to communicate with her three daughters, but Abigail visits her enough to know this isn't true. She isn't much of an influence over Jacqueline's development and the latter seems to pay no heed to this.

User Image Abigail Johnson | 20 | works at an advertising company
A very eloquent girl. She thinks it's important that Jacqueline should turn out "smart", and therefore sends her many videos about the sciences which her sister seems to have an interest in. She's on good relationships with Eleanor and has helped EC Gaming in advertising before.

User Image Eleanor Johnson | 19 | works as an intern at EC Gaming
Eleanor was the first "nerd" of the family. She has a strong passion for video games, but unlike JJ, kept her feminine side apparent and noticeable. Currently preoccupied with boyfriend, but still alive among the family. It is Eleanor that bears the responsibility in taking JJ to gaming conventions, which the two of them enjoy very much.
