Sun Hunter SHADOW RUN General Information The Shadow Run is both the simplest and most dangerous training course that can be run without a golem. A flurry of continuous attacks is what the Sun Division holds in highest respect, and the course reflects that. The course itself is a simple tunnel, reached via portal. Within the tunnel await hundreds of weak, hungry shadowlings. Nothing to worry about on their own, but capable of overwhelming a Hunter through sheer numbers at the first moment of weakness. At the other end of the tunnel is another portal, leading back to the course observation booth.
If you fail: your character is KO'd, but there's always a senior hunter in the observation booth with enhanced bandages at the ready. They should reach you in time. Really. Trained and trusty professionals on-hand 24/7.
If you win: peen points and bragging rights to those who take out the greatest number of shadowlings and go the most turns without needing to attempt a recovery maneuver.
Mechanics You must get through 5 waves of attacks to make it through the tunnel. Simply roll for attack as you would in battle. If you miss, your character falters in their attacking and is overwhelmed by shadowlings. After 3 successful hits, you may use your weapon's charge attack.
Bonus Mechanics This bonus is consumable. The bonus in this course is in the form of "recoveries" ~ these are would-be missed attacks that are quickly recovered and turned into a successful hit. Basically, they can miss once and roll again for an extra try. If you keep consecutively missing, though, and run out of recoveries, it's lights out. These do not equal an automatic pass for a round, you still have to land a successful hit to proceed.

"I heard that this is a popular weapon feeding ground," She replied all too happily as she tightened the knot made with the sleeves of her coat, smirking as Kintama went completely silent; he was probably convinced, "You know... Since it's filled with shadowlings, and those are packed with fear." Standing in front of the portal, she couldn't help but feel a little nervous; most people did this thing with a partner, right? She was doing this alone...
A soft sigh left her lips as she refocused her thoughts and stepped into the portal, her hands wrapped tightly around the chains of her weapon; show no fear, right? If not, this training course would be over before it even begins.

"Stop sulking."
"Yes you are," She laughed as she stepped out of the portal. Immediately, her eyes worked to adjust to the darkness; the shadowlings that gathered around the path were so numerous that she could not see the end of the tunnel where the portal leading back to the observation booth was; however, part of her was also excited at the prospect of doing this on her own, "Ready?"
That was all she needed to hear as she swung Kintama down on the nearest group of shadowlings, forcing them back as her weapon growled for more in her head.Status Wave: 1 Attack Dmg: 3 Total Shadowlings taken out: 3 Recoveries left: 0

"s**t!" She gritted her teeth, swinging Kintama over her head before bringing it down on the group of shadowlings in front of her; they were relentless, trying to drag her down at every possible opening. Ahead, there was still only darkness and several pairs of hungry eyes staring at her.
Waiting for her to make a single mistake.Status Wave: 2 Attack Dmg: 3 Total Shadowlings taken out: 6 Recoveries left: 0

She didn't like the tone that Kintama was using against her; it sounded like a teacher scolding a student, and she was sure that she had done nothing to deserve that. Concentrate? She was concentrating! Her mind hadn't wandered, and she was focused on the task at hand; a few more steps... A few more steps and the portal would be right within her reach.
Maybe she had lied a little; she was distracted. The dark tunnel, those eyes staring at her; they reminded her a little too much of her parents. Always expecting the best from her; sometimes, she couldn't help but feel that they were just waiting for her to mess up so that they could pick her up and tell her 'I told you so'.

As she brought her weapon down on the shadowlings gathered in front of her, she spotted a blue light through the darkness; the portal signaling the end of the tunnel.
The weapon pulsed in her hand, and she could both feel and hear Kintama just begging her for release even as she brought the heavy balls down on the shadowlings that surrounded them, making her way slowly to the end of the training course. Sounding just a little exasperated, she hissed, more to herself than to her weapon, "Not yet."Status Wave: 4 Attack Dmg: 2 Total Shadowlings taken out: 9 Recoveries left: 0

"Alright!" She skidded to a stop right before the portal, where the shadowlings were launching a desperate attack in order to force her back, blocking her way. There was something... Different about her weapon; in the past, whenever Kintama was charged up like this, he would demand to be thrown. This time, however, he wanted her to continue holding him as the skull-and-crossbone on the balls started to glow brighter.
swing.> Although the instructions made no sense to her, what she did next felt so natural that she wondered why she had never done it before; her weapon felt lighter than usual as she pulled the chains taut between her hands and swung the balls on either side around, hitting several shadowlings and knocking them back as she proceeded forward. Yeah, she felt like some kind of a bad a** helicopter. By the time she stepped through the portal, Kintama was back to his normal self, the glow having dimmed back to normal. Desummoning him into his necklace form, she couldn't help grabbing the pendent between her thumb and forefinger, playing with it; he taught her something new today, didn't he? She remained silent as she gave the hunters minding the observation room a grin and a mock salute before walking away, peeling her gloves off and flexing her fingers; using Kintama nobody hurt her hand the way it used to, when she first started out.
