Sky was happy that it was starting to warm up and there would be no more snows. She did not like the cold. She was enjoying the crisp air of early spring and the sun as it warmed her back while she grazed on the grasses around her. She turned her head to her little frog who was sitting on her rump. "Beady don't you think it is a fine day? I'm excited for the coming of spring. Look the first flowers are already here," She turned and sniffed a small pink flower that lay close to the ground.

After grazing a little more she started heading towards a large stream nearby. "Oh I think we both could use some water. You are looking a little dry."

Sapphrion stared down at a small flower, downstream of the blue usdia mare heading to the stream. Kuno had been making fun of him again and had angered Sapph. Kuno was always this way, but this time he had made reference to how small Sapph was, like the flower in front of him, and then stomp on it. Sapph had been so angry that he had chased a laughing Kuno away. But then Sapph had walked back to the flower, wondering if he could help it.

It was after seeing there was no hope for the small flower that he had sat down. Gazing at the flower and contemplating what it truly means to be small. Small was of course a relative term, but it just so happened he was relatively smaller than everyone else.

Once again he sighed, wishing he could grow and be able to defend himself against all the others who picked on him.

"Here we go, this is a nice stream for some water," she said to the little frog on her shoulder. She often spoke to her frog, even though she knew Beady didn't understand her. He was still her only friend.

Sky lifted her leg up as a gesture for the frog to climb down. The little frog slowly crawled from her back and across her leg. She was just starting to lower the frog down to the ground when she heard hooves running towards her.

She kept Beady on her hoof and turned her head to look towards the sound.

Kuno was running, hoping to scare Sapph. He felt Sapph was being a baby and wanted to cheer him up. He only teased him so that Sapph would direct his anger on him instead of any body else. Really, he was probably the closest thing to a brother Sapph would ever have.

Kuno didnt notice the blue usdia mare in front of him and accidently ran into her. Though some how he did some kind of flip over her and she didnt get hurt as much as if he had rolled with her.

He sat up, dizzy from his spill "Whaaa?" Trying to blink away the blur he had gotten from knocking his head on the ground.

Sapph had heard the running too, and was just in time to see his familiar run into a small mare. He was so shocked that he stood up to fast, his feet not getting a proper stance and falling back down. "KUNO! YOU IDIOT!!!!" Finally he had enough ground under his feet to run up to the mare "Miss, are you okay?" His gruff voice a little winded from his slight fall and all the 'excitement'.

Sky saw the brown buffalo coming at her but did not have enough time to get out of the way. He ran into her and she stumbled and fell as she tried to balance Beady on her hoof. As she fell Beady leaped off her hoof right into the stream and she watched as the stream swept him away. She started to tear up thinking she had just lost her best friend. Oblivious to the buffalo who had ran into her and the other that was yelling at him. All she could think about was her friend.

The question from the stallion startled her out of her dazed state. She looked up at him still on the ground with tear filled eyes. "Okay?" She said in a sad and confused tone, how could she be okay. "I just lost my best friend in the stream...No I'm not ok," She said in almost calm tone of disbelief.

She stared back to the spot she last saw Beady but he was nowhere in sight now. Tears started to flood her eyes again.

Sapph blinked at the mare, not sure what to make of her tears. There was a part of him, screaming deep inside that he wanted to stop her tears. But he disliked the thought of being around others. Others always poked fun at him, called him short, and told him he was worth nothing.

He looked to the river and back at her. She had tears in her eyes, and sapph figured that usually meant two things. One, soquili usually cursed their loudest with tears in their eyes. And two, some soquili really only could do one thing at once and was too sad to do any thing but cry. And this mare seemed to be the second category.

"Cane you tell me what your friend looked like? I didn't see any one around when I watched you fall. I can go search for them but I need to know what they look like. Quickly!" The last word he had raised his voice, hoping to get the urgency of the situation through to her. They didn't have time for gaspy conversations and mumbles between tears. He needed a description now if there was any chance of saving the friend.

Kuno tried standing, still a little weak. He had hit his head harder then he thought and was still trying to get his land legs back after gaining wings to fly through the sky. Or at least that is what he felt like when he had tumbled over the sturdy mare.

Sky looked back at the stallion. He was going to help. They could save Beady. The tears stopped and she got to her feet. "You will help? Oh thanks. Beady is a small red and blue frog. I'm sure the current as already carried him far." She said in a hopeful voice.

The stallion had definitely got her thinking in a new way and about urgency. She didn't wait, she new there was still hope and they could find Beady.

She took of running down stream hoping the stallion would follow. He said he would help, but she knew they had to be quick and she was done talking and crying. It was time for action.

She looked all around the stream for a little hint of red as she ran.

One of Sapph's eyebrows lifted in confusion. A frog? Thats what this mare was weaping over? He would have scoffed, but it would have been rude of him. That and the mare had already started to run down the bank.

He thought for a second. He really didn't have any reason to dislike frogs. They had never made fun of him for being small. He glared at the buffalo still trying to stand. Yes, if this frog was important to her, he would help.

He dashed after her, trying to catch up and pass her, hoping to see some sign of color other then the crystal clear of water and the muddy brown of river bed. Maybe if the frog was splashing it would be easier to see.

Kuno finally got his bearings back after failing to stand. He looked to see where his friend had gone and saw the two usdias running down the stream. That was odd, was Sapph trying to catch her? No, he just passed her. He would have caught her if he was trying. As Kuno watched, he noticed they kept watch of the river. were they trying to find a piece of fallen jewelry? There was only one way to find out he supposed. He took off running, slower then their run but loering the distance between them all the time.

Sky was still running down scanning the stream for Beady when she heard the stallion running behind and found him soon passing her. She was glad he was helping and he seemed to be faster than she was so she was sure he would be able to catch up to Beady however fast the stream carried him. She started to feel more hopeful as she felt she wasn't alone in this matter

She started scanning the river more closely hoping that if the stallion missed Beady with how fast he was going maybe she would be able to see her little frog in the river. She made sure to scan the river as much as possible and with this she started slowing down a little.

She soon heard the hooves of the Buffalo catching up to her and for a second she panicked thinking the familiar might run into her again. She veered to the side hoping to get out of the way of the large creature.

Sapph's eyes started to hurt from looking so hard at the water. He blinked away the pain and saw a little red blob in the water. The mare had said her friend was red and blue. could this have been it? He quickly ran to a tree close by and picked up some bark that had fallen to the ground. It wasn't any bigger then the human hands he had seen in his life, but he hoped a frog could fit safely on it.

He raced back to the river and splashed into the water. His short legs working against the stream as he tried to travel in a diagonal line to the red he had seen. He blinked as his eyes saw what he thought had been a frog. It was a bracelet with a red stone with blue stones on either side. It had not sunk from being tangled around a branch. He gave a quick gruff roar in frustration. Forgetting the bark he held, he dropped it in the water and picked up the branch and threw it on the river bank. It wouldn't trip him up again. As his bark floated away he quickly forgot about the branch and bracelet to retrieve the bark he had almost let float away.

Kuno jaunted up to the side of Sky, winking at her as she avoided him. She wouldn't run into her again. not when he was paying attention at least. "So, lil Missy. Is there a reason for this stroll down the river bank?" Kuno was much gentler with beings that weren't sapph. Of course, Kuno knew what Sapph needed sometimes was a kick in the pants. He smiled gently at her as he waited for her response.

Sky was a little taken aback when the buffalo started talking to her in such a casual manner. She looked up at Kuno with hurt in her eyes. Sky started to get a little more upset. This familiar didn't know what he did. "Yoouu Knnockedd mmmy fffriend in the water and now he's gone!" She said starting to cry again. She didn't want to talk to him so she started running as fast as she could to get away from him.

It was then that Sky saw the stallion jump into the water. He ran as fast as she could to catch up to him. Her tears stopped and her heart started pounding. He found him she thought excitedly.

When she got to the part of the stream where the stallion was he seemed frustrated and tossed something to the bank close to where she stood. She looked down at it. It was a pretty bracelet with red and blue but it was not Beady. Her heart sank and she wanted to just give up. She thought to herself that she would never see her friend again. Slowly the tears started to come again but this time they silently ran down her face.

She tried to push them down and be strong and slowly she walked a long the river bank after the stallion.
