Excel Saga related updates

-After over one month of waiting the Excel Saga DVD box set that I ordered finally came in (I'll be getting it this afternoon)!

-I am currently working on an idea for an Across mecha (A-1 Fairfax) which I will post when I complete it.

-After mush thought, I have finally figured out a basic plot that might work for my Excel Saga fan-fiction.

An ACROSS Mecha.... kinda like the one that Kabapu used, except better funded and with stronger joints?

Nothing like the one Kabapu used. The Fairfax resembles the RGM-89 Jegan from the Gundam series and yes, it is far more durable.

I have designs for three ACROSS mecha so far (all names subject to change):
A-1 Washington
A-2 Fairfax
A-3 Clinton

the Fairfax is the successor to the Washington and the Clinton is a heavy combat mecha resembling the Gundam Heavyarms.

In other news: the DVD box set was a rip-off, so I'm taking it back today.
Four problems:
-It's a pirated/bootleg version
-Annoying 1 episode per chapter format
-Even when the ADV Notes are disabled you still hear the 'pop' sound
-It freezes up on some episodes

I've actually noticed that, on certain english/jap voice settings (in the unbox version, I bought each separately), you still hear the pop even if the vid-notes are disabled. If you set it to 3/4 english or 4/4 japanese (using the "audio" button on the remote, you'll hear the pops. Also, you can adjust the subtitles, there are 5: 1/5 english all the time; 2/5 english when needed; 3/5 off with vid-notes; 4/5 english all with vid-notes; 5/5 english when needed with vid-notes. I guess you could also add 0/5 off, no vid-notes.

As for your mechas, I think they should be separate models, not succesors to each other. The A-1 should be the standard light model, equipped with basic weapons, the A-2 a heavier model with something more advanced but less speed, and the A-3 should be a heavy fighter-type unit with few weapons and more emphasis on hand-to-hand combat. But that's just my opinion. If you make this ever into an RP i'll pilot the A-2. biggrin

Well- I have the 3 diskle Excel Saga set and its perfect...
I got mine from some random dealer on Amazon.com, and since the price was so low,I'm beginning to think it's a pirated version-- it looks convincing... sweatdrop

I have the same one. At first I thought it was a bootleg, but after a bit of research I found, I'm pretty sure it's not:

A: ADVFilms logo. Neither blurred nor removed once. This is a big identifier. Bootleggers always want to make the DVDs look like their own, not the company they steal from.

B: No malfunctions. Every last bit works perfectly. In both English and Japanese. I think there might have been an anchoring problem in a few episodes of the second disk (whenever I tried to skip the opening theme, it skipped a few minutes of the episode), but that's it.

C: Audio and visuals were completely clear and good to go, an extremely rare sight in bootlegs.

D: The subtitles and audios worked identically to the way JJ Kooms described 'em, if that counts for anything.

Regardless of this, I sent out an email to ADVfilms. I'll post here if I find out anything.

...then again, why pirate it and then spend all the time making it look convincing? I don't know anything about pirating except my brother hangs out with losers who tape movies at the theater and give them to friends. They look really crappy.

New model numbers (had to revise them a bit) and new mecha

ACROSS' mecha

Notes:
-The only real difference between the A-1, A-2 and A-3 is their looks.
-All three have light-weight, medium and heavy-wight variants.

A-1 Washington: looks like a small RGM-89 (about 30' tall)
A-1B Washington II: lighter and more durable than the A-1

A-2 Fairfax: less blocky in design than the A-1... and it has HAIR (don't ask why, it just does)!

A-3 Clinton: looks like a cross between an EZ8 and Heavyarms Custom

Knights of Solaria (mercenary group) mecha

Note:
-I haven't really designed any of these yet.
-The only real difference between the four are their looks.
-All four have light-weight, medium and heavy-wight variants.

S-1 Commadore: the mechs used by the Black Battallion
S-2 Arkahm: the mechs used by the White Battallion
S-3 Highlander: the mechs used by the Blue Battallion
S-4 Illani: the mechs used by the Red Battallion

They have the whole season boxset at Best Buy.

It stinks at best buy, when you want to buy just the individuals (Like I did) you can't, since all they sell are boxes. That is a good thing, though, since you can get an entire series in one place.

I got my Imperfect box at best buy for 21.75 with shipping and handling. It took about a month to get to my house, but I got a good price, and I have had no problems or complaints.
