Atlas City If any place epitomizes the typical, Northern Continent city, this is it. The main draw of Atlas City was its branch of the Sorcerer’s Guild, which is currently without a proper Guildmaster. Sorcerers still flock to the city, though, since many of the Guild’s teachers still live there.

Current Location: Random Tavern, Atlas City Current Date: Morning, Spring 1
☽»⋯⋯⋰⋱⋰❇⋱⋰⋱⋯⋯※⋯⋯⋰⋱⋰❇⋱⋰⋱⋯⋯«☾ Even before the early birds began their songs, one woman had already begun her day. Not because she liked the peace and quiet of the time when everyone else was asleep, although that was certainly a bonus. No, she was up and about because she had work to do and lots of it. Her master had tasked her with an important assignment, and she wasn't going to fail. But finding the kind of person she needed would be a challenge. Saul Yi wasn't the kind of woman who could simply walk up to someone and ask for them to brave uncertain peril as she played the helpless maiden. She could do it, but disposing of them afterwards would be a problem. I can't have anyone learn of my master's plans before we succeed. That would be... inconvenient. No, better to play the scholar in need of assistance; no one would look twice at a scholar looking for what she needed. Striding into a little tavern along one of the main thoroughfares, she sat down at a centrally located table. Tucking a lock of silvery-black hair behind her ear, Saul looked at the still sleepy-eyed owner. "Some tea and toast, if you would," she said in a confident voice, putting a few coins down in front of her. Although she was looking for foolish adventurers, she didn't want to stand out too much. As if being there first thing in the morning wasn't odd enough.

"So...tired...need,sleep...food..." Limping along the road on a large branch, the young swordsman had been wandering the roads for days, looking for a place to stay and some food to eat. Curse those bandits...they forced me to take another route to reach civilization... It was true, his actions did force him to change his direction of travel some time ago. And without a place to get proper rest and food,Conan was about ready to drop on the road. But he had to continue! He had to reach Atlas City! "I...I can do it...I can make it!" Taking a few more steps forward,Conan could see the city wall...and then the dirt road under his feet. Giving in to his lack of strenght,Conan finally collapsed onto the road. Damn it... And then he gave into passing out from hunger. Not a great way to start the morning.

And she just rolled over and fell back asleep... for about three minutes before a woodpecker decided that her tree would be the perfect place to find its morning meal. "I'm up!" the foxy girl declared loudly as she picked up the nearest twig and hurled it in the direction of the bird. It gave a sharp chirp in defiance but left as soon as the twig passed over its head. Yeah, you fly off. Teach you to wake me up... dang it.By that point, Kela was wide awake, and she knew she wasn't getting back to sleep. "Oh well," she yawned as she crawled out of her temporary shelter. A hollow tree wasn't much of a shelter, but it was infinitely cheaper than an inn. "Might as well get busy. Alli oop!" The foxy girl stretched all four limbs as far as they could go - and her tail - before pulling on her gloves and scarf and securing her bag to her belt. It was limp and light, but Kela aimed to change that by the end of the day. The road wasn't always the best place to start, but that's where she found herself as she munched on some stale bread she "liberated" from a merchant the previous day. And that's when she saw him: a young man lying facedown in the dirt not too far from the city gates. Odd place for a nap. Are humans trying out the ground now? Oh well... not my place to judge.Kela skipped up to the human man and looked him over. He looked like he was in good shape. Still didn't explain his location for a nap. "Hey, wake up." She began poking him in the side with one dull claw. "Hey, wake up. You're a sitting duck. Wake up!"And sometime during the course of yelling at the unconscious human, Kela's hand found its way to his purse and had deftly liberated it from his belt. Hm... what's this? Don't care. In the bag it goes.

The man paid him quite handsomely for defending him against a small group of bandits. It was a piece of cake really, but he wasn't going to tell the old man no when there was money involved. Bastion might not have gone back to his rich, leisurely lifestyle, but that didn't mean the man didn't like money. Needless to say, that night, Bastion booked a room in a nice inn and went out that night to have his fill of booze and pretty ladies.
The next morning, Bastion woke up in his room, alone, and with all of his clothes scattered around the room. The red-haired man raised an eyebrow and peered around the room with his light brown eyes. He couldn't seem to remember anything, but from the looks of things he had one wild night. Getting up, the red head realized very quickly that he had had far too much to drink last night, because the room was spinning in all kinds of directions. Maybe he should take it a little slow. Slowly, Bastion went around the room and gathered up his scattered clothing and got dressed. He washed his face in the bathroom and went pee before he gathered up his wallet and shoved it into his pants pocket. It was time for some grub and he knew just the place.
Bastion went back to the tavern (at least he hoped it was the same one) that he had been to the night before. He strolled on in and took himself a seat at a table somewhere in the room, he wanted a seat in the back but ended up with a seat near the front. He was a little directionally challenged right now so it was okay. "I'll have... some water annnnnnnd..." Bastion hadn't really thought about what it was he had wanted here, so he was trying to think about it. The owner didn't seem like he was very awake to deal with this right now. There weren't many others in here yet, though. "... eggs, toast, and some sausage! Yeah, that's what I want right now," and he grinned at the owner.
After that was all ordered, Bastion took a look around, trying to see if he recognized anyone from the night before. But why anyone from last night would be up this early was a mystery, but he looked anyway. And that's when he saw a woman with blackish-silver hair. Hello, what do we have here? he thought to himself as he tried to figure out if she could possibly be here with anyone or if she was traveling alone. If she was traveling alone, he was going to try his best to see if he could be her bodyguard against the mean, scary bandits. ↵Location: some tavern SANOSUKE Mood: still a little drunk SANOSUKE Conversing with: not entirely sure SANOSUKE SANOSUKE SANOSUKE

☽»⋯⋯⋰⋱⋰❇⋱⋰⋱⋯⋯※⋯⋯⋰⋱⋰❇⋱⋰⋱⋯⋯«☾ Despite some grumbling, the owner delivered Saul's tea and toast within a decent amount of time. Both required heat - and lots of it - so some delay between ordering and delivery was expected. And both were piping hot when set on the table before her. "Thank you, sir," she said gently. "Keep the change. Think of it as a tip for being so quick so early." A small smile passed over his lips after she said that, and he took the coins back behind the bar. Oh, she could've cared less how the owner felt. The sorceress was there with a mission, one that she would carry out. She was just cultivating an opinion, one that would be useful if anyone asked about her. Sweet... but not too generous. Yes, that should get the job done. Perhaps a bit of time will be added, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Saul smiled inwardly at the rhyme she made in her head; she didn't even know she could do that. As she sat observing the morning traffic - or lack thereof - a red haired man walked into the tavern. He seemed a bit... disoriented, and Saul couldn't help but watch as he found himself a chair. It's a miracle he can even walk, she thought, listening in on his order with passive interest. He doesn't look like the town drunkard. A warrior, perhaps, just come back from a night of carousing? I shall see...With that thought in her head, Saul picked up her tea, which was still steaming a bit, and took a sip, looking at the man out of the corner of her eye.

The dirt just felt so comfortable and welcoming...like a big feathered bed. Any and all defenses and instincts against this sort of thing were ignored as he drifted into sleep. So...comfortable... Somewhere in his sleeping brain,Conan started to dream. For some reason though,he started to dream about an annoying little bird poking him with its beak in his ribs and squawking at him to wake up. Hmm...go away...stupid bird...The bird started to get louder, and bigger in his dreams. It turned into a monsterous thing then which started its attempt to eat him. Go away stupid giant bird!!! Taking control of the dream then,Conan drew his sword. Die demon bird!!! While lunging into battle,Conan lunged himself upwards and back into the land of the living. With a hand on his sword and eyes blinking themselves back into consciousness, the swordsman looked around. "...what happened?"Looking around,Conan saw that it wasn't a demon bird that was squawking at him but a young fox girl. And she had his coin purse! "Hey,give that back, you little thief!" Trying to get back up onto his feet and hand on his sword,Conan was prepared to fight for what was his...except for the part where he toppled over in hunger and exhaustion. "Ow..." Not the best way to intimidate a thief...

The fox girl easily jumped out of the way of the poor man as he tried - and failed - to challenge her to... a duel? Did he actually expect her to give the purse back? It was in her hand now; as far as she was concerned, the bag and its contents were already hers. Giving a broad smile, Kela said, "No can do, mister. This here goes in the bag."With that, she shoved the coin purse into her bag of stuff. There wasn't much in there yet, just a bit of dried meat as snacks, so it plopped in with a satisfying thunk... or whatever sound came from heavy cloth hitting bottom of cloth bag. It didn't matter to her; she loved it. And she turned around and was about to walk away when she heard the man topple over. Hm... guess I know how he got in the middle of the road now. Kela, ever the helper, quickly bounced onto his back. Leaning down on his shoulders, she tilted her head. "Hey... I'm lea-ving. What? Knightly guy like you can't just... walk over and spear me to the wall? Huh? Huh?" She poked the side of his chest and, much to her surprise but no one else's probably, felt bone instead of lumps of muscle or fat. That just wasn't right. "Hey. Hey! You're skinny. Why? Do you even eat?"Kela wasn't a very helpful thing... sitting on his back and poking him. But it just seemed so right to her.

Getting robbed by a little fox girl and not being able to do anything about it. Conan was fighting to get back up onto his feet but he didn't have enough strenght to even push his upper body up. So he was forced to watch this girl simply pocket his remaining coins and almost go off on her merry little way. "Stop that now! That doesn't belong to you!" Honestly, where were this girl's parents to stop this behavior?! Struggling to get back up onto his feet,Conan was pushing himself up again when the fox girl hopped onto his back. "Agh! Hey-get off!" NOW he was properly humiliated. I can only hope that no one ever sees this... "I'm not a knight! And get off me!" With one mighty stove,he was able to flip his body so the girl would fall off and he would roll onto his back. It left him tired but at least she was off him now. "If you need to know,I haven't been able to eat for the last few days! Bandits like you have kept me off of the main roads so I haven't been able to eat or get a proper rest! And I'll thank you not to keep poking at me like that!"Sitting up was proving to be useless,no matter how much Conan tried. It was quickly becoming obvious that he was becoming a little discouraged by this new development. Man...I'm going to die out on the road with only a fox girl thief to bear witness to it...what a way to go...

I just have sticky fingers - Oop!" The fox girl squeaked as the man rolled over, throwing her to the side. Kela rolled over, too, curling up into a ball until she stopped rolling a few feet away. She shook her tail to get all the dirt out of it, sending a spray of brown specks flying in all directions. Dirt didn't bother her one bit, but it was so fun to shake it everywhere. "Well? I'm off now. And I'm definitely, positively, absolutely not a bandit! For one, bandits don't wear skirts." She was avoiding the fact that he had to forcibly remove her from his back. And then the reveal: he was tired and hungry. Well! Why didn't he just say so? Kela opened her bag, tossing the man's coin purse to the side, and pulled out a bit of jerky. Scurrying up to him, the fox girl put the jerky right up against his mouth. "Eeeeeat. Kela demands it!"

His stomach stopped growling yesterday so he was sure that his stomach was eating itself now. There appeared to be no amount of fighting spirit that could have saved the swordsman now,no matter how much he was trying to use it to save himself. Oh cruel fate...to die like this so young in life! WHY!? But it looked like he wasn't fated to die today...or during the next few days that would have taken him to actually starve to death if he hadn't collapsed where he was now. Just as he was getting comfortable and ready to rest where he laid, eyes starting to close...Conan felt something start to poke near his mouth. Opening his eyes up again,he saw the fox girl...and she was trying to feed him jerky! ...there is a God after all! Staring at the jerky for a moment,he opened up his mouth, sank his teeth into it and starting to eat. So good! Moaning and humming happily, the swordsman laid back and ate the jerky like it was greatest thing in the world! ...until he realized that it was really salty and started to cough. Feeling strong enough to sit up,Conan felt around for his canteen and drank until he was okay again. "Th-Thank you...Kela?" Conan said as he looked towards the fox. "Yes,thank you Kela. I think I'll be strong enough to get to Atlas City now...but I'll need my coin purse back." He started to crawl for his coin purse then.

With speed only a hyperactive child could muster, the fox girl sprang up and began bouncing around. "It lives. It lives!" She just kept giggling even when he began to cough; Kela was used to the dryness, so she thought it was hilarious. Heh heh heh... he's so silly. Silly human. As he drank, Kela stopped bouncing; it was just a bit too tiring for her since she hadn't had a decent meal herself. Instead, she flopped onto her side and right into a hand-stand. It had been one of her favorite things to do back in her hometown, but it was a skill that really held no practical purpose other than to look silly. And there had been that one incident that had prompted her to start wearing shorts under her skirt, which was a good thing at that moment because her skirt inevitably fell down. "Yup! Kela. Kela McDermitt. And you're Knight Guy. Heh heh heh... 'Night' Guy.'"Looking "down" at the sky, the fox girl pretended to catch passing crows with her feet. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't keep hold of them. Tricky birds. I'll get you one day. Mark my words. Kela rolled back down to the ground and into a sitting position. The coin purse had been forgotten in the drama of bringing a human back from the dead. "'Get to Atlas City?'" Kela's ears flicked up and down as she looked back and forth between the man and the city walls. "You mean the city right there? The city that's a quick walk from here? Yeah! I bet you are!"

He was feeling like he was close to death and choking on the saltiness of the jerky and she was doing...cartwheels? Jumping around like a hyper child chasing a piglet? Conan couldn't quite figure it out as he collected his coin purse and sat up for a moment. Maybe all foxes are like this...or maybe it's just her. He didn't dare move until she was done acting all...crazy and whatnot. "Truly strange." Soon Kela was on her hands, skirt down to show her shorts underneath and she was flexing the claws on her feet skyward. Yeah, she was weird. Conan couldn't help but watch though. It was just so unusual...and her tail was fun to watch. He never met a lot of people like her before. "I'm not a knight! I want to be but...never mind about that. My name is Conan Swiftly. And yes, that's the city that I wanted to get to. I can't believe I didn't make it before with how close it is..." Next time he would have to pack more food and provisions to avoid a situation like this again. Next time he may not be so lucky and be rescued by such an...interesting individual. Picking himself up on shaky legs and going for his walking branch again,Conan was ready to pick up on his journey, find an inn and get the rest that he desperately wanted. "I thank you for your...help,Kela,but I need to get moving. I still need to find a place to rest inside the city...and with the amount of coins that I'm still fortunate enough to have." He would have to keep a tight grip on his coins from now on. "Again, thank you for the help. I'll be on my way now. Keep out of trouble." It felt sort of pointless to say that but Conan had to say it anyway. He started down the road at a slow pace, but with a little more speed than when he was going early this morning.

Her ears flicked in his direction. "What's strange?" No one had ever called her strange; it was just normal for a kid to act like that. And Kela was almost always hyper enough to act like she was high on sugar, so the thought that she might be unusual had never crossed her mind. But he gave her his name. "Conan? Swiftly? Nice ta meetcha, Breezy." It was such an odd surname that the fox girl just had to make fun of it. Although, how "Swiftly" translated in "Breezy" was something only Kela could really know. But seriously, who was called "Swiftly" if they collapsed a short jog from the city? Silly name for a silly human... maybe it does make sense, she thought as he gathered his coin purse. The fox girl no longer cared about the coins; she had enough in her stash already. I should probably pick some of those up next time I hit the stash. Merchants seem to like when I throw them at them. She didn't seem to quite grasp that merchants only liked it because she was technically paying them for whatever she had just stolen. Like she would care if she knew. As soon as Conan got up, Kela jumped to her feet, too. It had been a long time since anyone had actually talked to her with words that didn't include "I'll get you for this," and she was going to enjoy it. "I need to move, too. Staying in the road's a good way to get you tail run flat by a passing cart. It happened to my uncle once. Poor Uncle Stubby..." Well, that was enough reminiscing. Quickly - one might even say 'swiftly' - Kela ran to join Conan. "So! Where ya going? Whatcha doing? Can I come? Please. Please!" She tugged on his cloak and slightly leaned against the back of his legs, her tail swishing excited around. Hopefully, she wouldn't push him over like that. Where I'm going: City streets, Atlas City

The half drunk red haired man turned back to his table and leaned back in his chair, arms stretched towards the floor at his sides. A grin slowly spread across his lips, he could feel eyes upon him, maybe not fully but the red head could feel them. He liked attention, he only hoped they were from the beauty he had just been eyeing. If only he knew the truth. Bastion was starting to feel a little more sober now, the more he sat there and allowed himself to actually wake up. The grogginess was fading, and his eyes were a bit clearer. Taking a peek into his wallet, he frowned a little. He wouldn't be able to keep going on like this, else he would burn through the rest of his money. He needed a job, soon.
Sometime later, the owner brought out his food and his water. Bastion gulped down the first glass before the man could even walk away, "Hey, can I get another of these? That water wasn't half bad," he said with a grin. The owner took the glass and walked away to refill it, leaving Bastion to his food. The red head stabbed a sausage and stared at it for a moment before consuming it and half of the contents of his plate. When the next glass of water was brought out he gulped half of it and sat back in his chair, happy. He let out a pleased sigh and picked a piece of meat from his teeth, "Life is good."
With a full belly, Bastion was less drunk and more sober now and his attention would return to the woman with the dark hair. There was just something about her that he couldn't quite place. So, instead of just sitting here, he decided it was high time he talked to her. So, Bastion got up and crossed the distance between their tables and sat in the chair right across from her. He placed a charming, smile on his face before asking her, "So, do you usually get up this early? Or were you just in the mood to beat the morning crowed?" Bastion could see she would be a hard one to win over, but he wasn't about to pass up a challenge like this one. ↵Location: some tavern SANOSUKE Mood: still not completely sober, but getting there SANOSUKE Conversing with: pretty lady SANOSUKE SANOSUKE SANOSUKE
