((Picking up from where Fae, Yasu and I left off in the Cetalu thread . . . I'm just gonna repost the last post from there . . .))

"Yay!" With a hop, bounce, and another flap of her wings, Nehanda began to skip her way across the land bridge. It was a pretty day, she had Foenix and some really good friends with her, and there were new friends to meet on the other side!

"Nehanda, hold up!" Foenix's voice was a trifle sharp, and she amended her tone with a smile. "Hun, we don't know how stable this is, remember? I want you to be careful, and please don't run ahead this time. Will you promise me that? If you can't, we're heading straight home right now." She didn't much like playing the disciplinarian, but it was necessary.

Nehanda immediately slowed down at her guardian's words. she stood and calmly waited for the rest of the group to catch up with her, then apologized. "Sorry, Feenix. I promise I won't run ahead. I'll stay right here with Peblo and Osu and Fae and Yasu and Pie!" The long list left her slightly out of breath, so she gulped in some air with a big grin.

Foenix shook her head in amusement. turning to Fae and Yasu, she asked, "Do you think this might have been cause by the 'quakes? I met a few from Ar'Idil when we were over there for the summer festival, but I haven't seen any of them since. It will be fun to see how the Aerandir have grown."

Pueblo held onto her guardian's hand; she'd never been this far from home before and it made her nervous. Although just as well excited. Marching through the sand, she picked up a few colorful stones and shells that caught her eye here and there. They would make for a fine painting or collage later. Her tail flicked back and forth, creating a little sand-dust cloud behind her.

Fae pursed her lips. The ground was turning into softer sand now. Reaching down, she took her sandals off and burried her toes into the warm sand. She smiled; it felt good between her toes. Trudging along, she soon found her sandals being convescated by Pueblo. "I dunno if they'll fit the same way for you," she chuckled.

Wiggling her digits, Pueblo tried to immitate the way her guardian wore these odd foot-protectors. Getting the thong between two of her large toes, she grinned and tried them out. Giving a few giant steps, she looked foolish walking around stiff-legged. "Now I'm just like a hyooman!" she mused. "Ech, how do you walk in dees things??!" she grunted, her feet beginning to cramp.

(( Think you missed a paragraph there, Foenix ^^; ))

Ieyasu took a few steps over to Osu. "Osu, I want you to stay close, just in case. So don't go running off ahead, alright? You can run in a little while." He'd have to keep a close eye on the energetic kid, as Osu often made a habit of running ahead of him.

Osu looked slightly disappointed. Grown-ups were always so slow! But, well, he guessed he could slow down for a little bit. He was with his friends afterall, and they were being asked to stay close too.

"Ok!" Osu hopped from one foot to the other, but stayed on the same spot. As he spotted Pueblo trying to walk in the sandals, he giggled. "They look funny!" As the group began to head out onto the sandbar, Osu followed, interspersing the odd bounce or spin with his footsteps. Normal walking was boring, afterall!"

At Foenix's question, Ieyasu looked thoughtful. "Could have been.. I'm not a huge expert on earthquakes or anything though. I can't think of much else that could have caused it though."

((So I did! Thanks for paying attention.))

Nehanda wandered along with her friends, stopping every now and then to tug up a strand of grass or weed that didn't look familiar to her. Since this stretch of land was almost marshy, it contained different plants then those she usually saw around the beaches of Cetalu.

She giggled at Pueblo when the wolf girl flopped around in Fae's sandels. "You're too furry to be hooman!" She answered. "Foenix is always shaving off the fur on her legs and stuff. I dun see why she doesn't want hair on her!" She ran a hand up her arm, feeling the short, almost stiff equine hairs there.

Foenix colored and leaned down closer to the girl. "Nehanda, that's not really something you need to talk about . . ." At the child's questioning look, she sighed and shrugged. "Never mind. Anyway, I don't think it'll take us more then fifteen or twenty minutes to get to the other side. It took less time by boat, after all."

(( May I join in? ))

Doris had taken Tayte outdoors for the first time since his emerging. Tayte was thrilled. At first, the prouder side of him had allowed him to sun himself a bit, displaying his gorgeous wings, while Doris peacefully knitted him a blanket for the little bed she had made him before the hearth.

Then Tayte had decided to explore. He got up, stretching in a feline way, and then set off.

"Tayte?" Doris gasped, when she looked up from her stitching to find him gone. "TAYTE?" She jumped to her feet, ignoring the pain in her bad knee, and dashed off the porch.

She was just about to go hysteric with worry when she heard a tale-tell chuckle from a nearby shrub.

"Oh, Tayte, you naughty little gryphon!" she cried fondly, as the gryphon leapt from the bushes and slitehred his way further down the path. "So you'd like to explore Setone, would you?" she asked, setting off after him. "Well, I think I'll join you. I've wanted to meet the other Islanders, anyway. Lead on, you naughty Tayte."

Tayte chuckled in his Ermine-like way and did as told, looking about him in tiny gryphon awe.

Fae snickered under her breath at Nehanda's innocents. At least Pueblo wasn't as out-right. She flipped around the idea of the earthquake creating this giant sandbar in her mind quietly. Still, they continued on walking, her feet un-bothered of the sand and debree. Finally realising it, she had lost track of time.

"Whut's that bouncing white thing?" Pueblo pointed out randomly. Her eyes were squinted, concentrating hard ahead of her. They were obviously closer to Ar'Idil than before. It was her natural wolf-owl eye sight fine tuning outlines beyond the extent of the human's eyes.

Osu stopped to stare questioningly at Nehanda for a moment. "Why'd she do dat..?" Tilting his head a little, he thought for a moment. "Yassu has fur too, but not so much as me!" Giggling, he flicked his bushy tail around to the front of him so that he could catch hold of it. "He's funny tho. Sometimes, when he's sleepin' an' stuff, he has a tail like me. But he makes it go 'way. I dunno how. I asked an' he said it was a sekrit an' he'd maybey tell me some day."

And then, a brainwave struck the little spellweaver. "Hey! Maybey it falls off, like you said Feenix said!" He didn't have much time to ponder this further before Pueblo spoke, pointing ahead. Curious to find out what she was talking about, Osu took a few quick paces over to Pueblo before following her gaze.

"What is it?"

Ieyasu raised a hand up to his face, trying to suppress a smile at Nehanda's words. You had to love the things that kids said sometimes. It was his turn, however, when Osu began to talk. Ieyasu wasn't particularly embarassed at what the kid was talking about, but it was easier to not bring the subject up.

"Osu.." The kitsune raised an eyebrow at the young Aerandir. Before he could say anything more, he glanced over towards the other island momentarily. He thought he had heard something, but he wasn't sure. Maybe it had just been his imagination. In any case, it didn't look like the sand bar had far to go.

"Yeah, I think you're right. Foenix. It doesn't look far from here."

Nehanda tilted her head at Osu, then craned her head back to study Yasu. "If his tail falls off, how does he stick it back on? I bet that uses lots and lots of tape. Or glue, eben!" She wanted to go look for Yasu's tail, but . . . that'd be rude. Really rude. Right?

Luckily, Pueblo's question distracted her from that line of thought, and she peered ahead. True enough, there was something white a furry up in front of them. It had wings!

"I think it's a gwiffin!" Nehanda looked back at Foenix. "Can't I go see? Please? I'll be careful!"

Foenix looked toward their destination. "That's a griffin, all right, but it's not one that I recognize." She could certainly understand Nehanda's eagerness to find out! Nothing could possibly go wrong on the last twenty feet before Ar'Idil, right? She looked to her right and left. "If it's okay with Yasu and Fae, I think all three of you could go on ahead of us and see."

Nehanda skipped back to the adults. "Please? and Peblo could bring Pie. We'll be really careful with him!"

Tayte chuckled and giggled, slithering along the path, investigating this and that, thrilled with this new and strange but exciting world. He paused to nibble at the leaf of a colorful flower that had attracted him, giving the plump elderly lady that was his guardian a moment to catch up to him. She stopped beside him, panting ever so slightly, and rubbed Tayte's head. He clucked his beak approvingly, rubbing upward against Doris's hand in a feline-like way, his impressive blue wings fanning out.

Fae titled her head to the side and glanced down to the Aerandir children. "I agree with Foenix; we're nearly there," she said then looked over to Ieyasu.

The image of fox tails falling off from Osu's strange guardian replayed in her mind. She wrinkled her nose before bending her head backwards in order to see her guardian. "Dun't worry, I'll protect 'im real good," Pueblo promised. Straightening up and turning around, she held her arms out to recieve Zanzibar.

Hugging the jar tightly to her chest, she looked back to where she saw the white and blue gryphon. It had stopped! And there was a funny looking human beside it now. Or was that another gryphon? Pueblo shook her head in confusion- there was a lot happening on this side!

Tayte cocked his head, listening. He thought he'd heard something...

There it was again! He clucked questioningly at Doris, who misunderstood his question. She asked him if he wanted to head back. It took a moment for the young gryphon to process this. He squirmed, chittering indignantly when Doris bent to pick him up.

"Oh, alright, alright," cried Doris, getting a mouthful of fur and feathers. She loosened her grip, and watched bemusedly as the fickle gryphon actually flew from her grasp. Tayte landed, a little startled, on the ground a few feet away.

Having been embarrased, he took a moment to preen himself, making sure that his magnificent wings were in perfect order, before giving an ermine chuckle and dashing off toward the noise.

Doris shook her head, clucking her tongue against the roof her mouth, and set off after her rascally gryphon, still smiling bemusedly.

Osu giggled, the thought of Yassu sticking tails on himself with sticky tape coming to mind. "I dunno! I've nevver seen him put dem on." He'd need to check that the next time he found Yassu's tails. As the other two girls pointed out the gryphon, Osu turned to look ahead. He stared for a moment, squinting his eyes. It did look like another gryphon!

"Can we go? Please, please, please?" Osu dashed back to Yassu, his crimson eyes pleading. It would be so awesome if they could meet new people in this new place!

Ieyasu glanced ahead for a moment. They were pretty close, and there werecertainly some figures up ahead. He nodded his head, grinning at Osu. "Alright. Just be careful and watch your step, ok?"

"Yaaay!!" Bouncing up into the air and doing a rapid pirouette on landing, Osu dashed over to Nehanda and Pueblo. "Let's go!" He headed off down the sandbank happily, eager to see the new gryphons and human. It was fairly obvious to anyone watching that the hyperactive little spellweaver had other things on his mind rather than watching his step.
