The gem was exquisite, beautifully 'cut' (as if it had ever been, as if blades would not turn away in deathly fear from its surface), every angle sharp and perfect. Phaedra played the wine-red jewel over her fingers, admiring the way the light hit the facets. Not as lovely as her own former prison, of course, but fair enough in its way.
Fair, and needing a home. "Who are you, I wonder?" she asked the gem, thoughtfully. "I do hope you're interesting. I suppose there's only one way to find out..." Phaedra grinned and folded her fingers around the jewel, sliding it into a pocket before standing up and stretching.
Time to take the poor thing for a walk.

Ifan sat in the open hall of the Pantheon, perched on the stone steps, enjoying the view of the gardens. There, in the Pantheon it was almost as though nothing had ever been destroyed, there were flowers, trees, even animals and insects. Gods mixed with mortals almost as though they were equals. As far as he was concerned it was paradise and he wanted to be part of it.
He had fixed the car up, and the oil seemed to be good enough for the engine. In the morning, as the sun rose he would set off for home, get his siblings and bring them back to this place. He was confident they could make a home there, even more confident that he could set up a successful business. Having explored the markets and the primitive goods he was sure he would be able to target gaps in the market.

Phaedra hummed softly to herself as she walked, snatches of tunes that she and Nebula had sung in Achai, so long ago. The thought made her smile, eyes closing halfway with fond nostalgia. That had been glorious... so glorious.
Well. There was a time for destroying, and one for building. She wondered which variety the jewel in her pocket was-
A bit of noise caught her attention, and she turned. Ah... It was the boy, the one she'd met on the road. Was it strange to find him here? Or was it fated? Her smile changed into something a bit more predatory. Just a touch. She would have been right not to create an attachment to him were he to be godfood...
... of course, if the potentially reborn deity was boring or annoying, she might choose to take offense anyway. Just for fun. "Ifan," she called out, leaning against one pillar, arms crossed and resting against her hips. "Fancy meeting you here~"

Ifan had been lost in his thoughts and did not hear the goddess come up beside him. At his name he turned, a smile forming on his lips as he saw Phaedra. He had been thinking about trying to find her. He knew that she probably wouldn't care that he was leaving, but she had helped him and he wanted to thank her. "Phaedra." He stood out of respect and dusted off his trousers. "I was thinking about you earlier."

"Many do," she said, with an amused chuckle. "Why? What tender thoughts crossed your mind?" Her tail curled lightly around one of her own ankles for a moment. "Have you found all you sought?"
One hand, idly, strayed into the gem's pocket; one finger stroked down a clean, straight edge.

Ifan laughed a little at the mocking in her tone. Tender thoughts, as if he might be sentimental. "I was thinking that I should probably stop by and thank you again. I have found all I was looking for and I am planning to head home in the morning." he slipped his hands into his own pockets and glanced out at the gardens. "I've decided to be selfish. I'm not going to tell everyone about this place. Just my family. I think we could start our own business empire here. The market is good, but primitive."

"Ah... a man after my own heart, truly," Phaedra replied, pleased. She could feel the core of determination and greed in him, though he might cover it up with lesser words. "Strike while the iron is hot, indeed - and what wares will you purvey?"
((BTW just let me know if you like.. if the gem reacts, or whatever you want! You can RP reactions or feelings or whatever for the gem since she is yours and all obviously! XD))

(( He. XD ... and cool, I was wondering if I should. biggrin )
Many gods described it as a slumber. Laying dormant within a lump of mineral. Slumber, sleep they suggested dreams, awareness of some kind. The inhabitant of the gem in Phaedra's pocket had been aware of nothing before the moment that a finger caressed its smooth surface.
Awareness came slowly, it could not hear words as such, it had no ears, but feelings. Desire from Greed as she preyed. Desire of a different kind from the mortal. His desire was not for the sake of it. It was pragmatic. A desire not just to provide but to excel. The essence frozen in the gem liked that, he liked it a lot.
"Well, my sisters are skilled with textiles. Weaving and such. Me, I can build machines. I've noticed a lack of progress here, people are living in the dark ages again and they do not need to. Do not want to." He shrugged his shoulders.

"Ah, an innovator. Good, good. From such things springs new life, new growth. New complications and amusements. I look forward to witnessing such things-"
She felt it, then, the spark against her skin. A feeling of awareness. "Why, hello," she murmured, plucking the gem out of her pocket and holding it up, letting the sunlight play through its facets. She peered through it at Ifan, framing him in the gem's center. "Have you ever seen one of these, clever boy?"

"Yes, of course. It's a ruby, or a garnet perhaps?" he studied the stone, moving a little closer to it. "A valuable one too looking at the size of it.. It was the kind of thing he would associate with Greed. Jewels and gold.

She could tell him what it truly was... but it would be more interesting not to. "Catch," she called out, and tossed it at him.

Ifan had not expected her to do that. He jumped to attention and reached out to catch the jewel effotlessly in his hand.
Time was precious, it was money and efficiency. No sooner had jewel met flesh, the god within decided enough was enough.
Ifan cried out and clenched his hand as he felt an intense pain in his palm. It was so strong he felt it all the way up his arm. It had not seemed sharp in her hand, yet now it seemed as though it was cutting into his flesh. Burrowing as if it were alive. Shaking he held his hand up, his eyes falling on the red gem now stuck in the middle of his hand. "What?" A trickle of blood ran down his arm to his elbow. With his other hand he tried to pick the object out. It would not budge and only cause more intense pain.
"I really wouldn't do that if I were you."
The voice seemed to be within him. Not a thought though, something stronger. Ifan turned his green eyes up to Greed. "What the hell is this?"

Oh, that was interesting. "My, how impatient," she said aloud, her tone thoughtful. "Why don't you ask it what - or rather who - the hell it is? I'm not entirely sure, myself, and I'm terribly curious."

Ifan clutched his hand and stared at her for a moment. Ask it? It was an it? He held his hand up and stared at the thing now embedded in it, and feeling rather stupid opened his mouth to speak. "Who are you." He said to it, as if the stone itself might grow a mouth and speak to him.
The voice did not come direct from the stone however, it came from within him. "I am Isambard, Deus ex machina, God of Industry."
"Um, it, he? says he's called Isambard and is a god of Industry?" Ifan lowered his hand, this had to be some kind of sick joke. "How can it be a god? It's a stone?"
The voice within him gave a low chuckle. Clearly amused by the young man's predicament.

Phaedra blinked, then started laughing. "Oh, well chosen, well chosen indeed... and well met, Isambard," she said, after a moment. "Indeed, indeed he is God and Stone both." She lifted up one clawed finger and held it for a moment, then very deliberately brought that claw up to her gemmed eye and tapped at the surface. The jewel rang within its socket - while it was now fully a part of her body, and she could see through it just as well as she could through her organic eye, it was still unmistakably a stone. Once one's attention had been called to it, at least.
"From such came we all, other then the Twin Crown Himself. Those who are called by the gods may find themselves drawn into service. As you have been. And, given what I know of you, Ifan, it is an enviable match - you already worshiped him, though you did not know it." She grinned at him.
