 What a strange week it had been. He was in a new...world, as it were. Everyone he knew, everyone he ever loved, was gone. There was a slim chance they would end up here, but it wasn't something that one should count on. And so, he was alone again, in a strange world.
Not totally alone, his beloved Guenwhyvar was with him, which made his solitude bearable, and it seemed the panther could stay in this world longer before needing to return home.
He sighed softly, and adjusted his cloak, which the egg was carefully bundled in.
And now he's a guardian? Strange world indeed. What was he going to do? Was he really up to the task?
Zaknafien would be disappointed if he did not try. And so he would try his best, apply all of his skills, and give this child his all.

 Dark Matter was not at at ease at all, she had just given up one of her eggs and she still had another that needed to go to a new home, she understood it was better this was and that she did believe this guy would take care of it but still, this was her own flesh and blood and so it was understandable she would never feel right with just handing it over which is why she now had to go threaten the very life out of this male who took her egg and was playing guardian to it. Was it wrong to do this? Yes but did she care? No, not at all, she was going to make sure that this male knew that she was going to skin him alive before slowly breaking every single bone in his body before ripping off all limbs very slowly before finally killing him, if he hadn't died by then, if he ever so much as made the child cry, as far as this male was concerned, all he did was HELP raise it, she and drake STILL held the reigns and that meant that they STILL called the shots so any decisions that needed to be made better be passed by them, or at least one of them, first, she wasn't going to have that male call the shots on everything, some things she didn't mind, but most things it was up to her and/or Drake.

The dark elf had no idea what he was in for. But then again that seemed to be the running theme as of late. He let out a sigh and gently set the egg down, carefully turning it over and over to check for fractures or any signs of a break. He still wasn't sure what these eggs could go through, and frequently checked up on it, fearing a crack or damage. Upon finding nothing Drizzt sighed in relief, and sat down beside it. Feeling a need for another companion he summoned Guenwhyvar, and the panther arrived and looked around, finding no danger present the panther flopped down and began grooming. The winged egg flapped a few times and hopped over to the panther and nestled in the side of the cat.
Drizzt chuckled "it looks like you've made a friend Guenwhyvar." he said with an amused grin. The panther just gave the egg a lick and resumed grooming.

Dark Matter stopped as she thought she heard someone, looking around her eyes stopped on the male that took possession of her egg and started making her way over to him "we need to talk" she said in a rather serious tone, ignoring the fact that a small greeting would probably be nice but meh, this male has her egg and she didn't do small talk, two reasons as to why she said what she did and then her eyes fell to the egg by a WILD CAT!? No, nonononono, this is NOT going to happen "what is that egg doing by a wild cat!? I don't care if the egg seems to have made friends with it, till it is born, it stays with YOU at ALL times. No watching it from two feet away, no watching it from a mile away, you keep that egg with you at ALL times, when the child hatches and gets a little understanding of what is going on then sure, INTRODUCE the child to the cat and thats it but before then, no, I don't want that egg ANYWHERE by that cat! I don't care either if he is the worlds friendliest cat, that egg stays by YOU unless, of course, you care for me to take it back..." she glared at him, eyes glowing brighter due to her being upset.

Drizzt moved in front of the egg and Guen at the sudden arrival of the female, not realizing at first it was the mother. At the hostility in the air the egg wiggled between Drizzt's paws and the dark elf gently put a paw around it, watching the female cautiously. Guen leapt up defensively, but Drizzt dismissed the panther despite its protests. Once the mist cleared Drizzt relaxed and nodded at the female, realizing the connection.
"I understand your concern, and I deeply apologize, I beg you would understand that I would never put your child in harm." he said gently.
He realized parents here were a far cry different from the ones he knew from the underworld. And he also knew, he had to tread very carefully with this one.
"I assure you, it will never happen again, and I really do wish to look after the young one..." his lavender eyes were gentle and sincere, his paw still curled around the egg as it wiggled softly.

Dark matter listened to him before backing off a little and nuzzled the egg a little, pain crossing her face for a few seconds before she shook her head, it still hurt her to know someone else was going to be helping her raise two of her darling children "it better not" she said glaring at the male "because if I see that fleabag next to that egg before it is born once again I swear I will not only take it off you but I will make sure you are left with an ever lasting reminder as to how you ended up with no egg." Dark Matter said as she sat on the ground and looked at him, she was going to have to play nice now and...blah, talk to him like a civilized kitsu, she was SO not going to enjoy this but hey, this IS her child he is minding, the least she could do if play nice for five minutes even if she did just want to threaten him and leave, but no she would lay down some ground rules and make sure he understands his place before she left.

The dark elf nodded "I understand, and I assure you it won't happen again" he said offering a reassuring smile. He watched the egg with the mother, and felt pain as well.
What would it be like to have a loving protective mother?
Guess he will never know. His mother sacrificed his father, and then sent his siblings after him in hopes he would end up as a sacrifice as well.
He shook off the memory and focused on the now. This was a new future, a new beginning.
Drizzt smiled again, this time it was heartfelt, it was carefree.
"how many siblings are there?" he asked lightly, curious about how big families were here. He was still curious about everything, and still so new.

Deciding to leave the matter at his word she looked up from her egg at the male "there are four total, we, Drake and I, are taking care of two, you have one and one more shall be given to another to help raise, it wasn't something I wanted to do but I sort of dumped this on Drake and he is being a good sport about helping me raise the children even if it is reluctantly as it was another mans eggs and four I thought might of been a little too much for him given he didn't want children in the first place so as much as I hated it I had to come to the realisation that it was only fair to give two up if only to keep the peace with the nightmare. It was fair on him first and foremost but two kids jumping around him and everything will be enough for him to lash out as it is so it was better they were given to two kitsu's who will help raise them" she said, deciding to leave the part out where the two with her will probably end up terrors, not that she cared, there needed to be more torturers in this place but still, she had to keep the Nightmare happy also which was important to her as well.

Drizzt tilted his head as she explained the situation.
Apparently upbringings here weren't as strict as with the Matrons in the Underworld. That's a relief.
"four can be quite a handful....well...I think. I must admit I am new to this, but I have a pretty good idea of what not to do..." at another memory of his upbringing, he shuddered.
He glanced down at the egg, that wiggles happily around its mother, before seeming to tucker itself out, and roll against her leg with a quiver. He chuckled lightly. "I won't be able to teach the little one to fly, but I've met some who could help with that. And that's only if I couldn't reach you, or the other kids kept you quite busy. Of course you would be the first choice" he said as he watched the female. His hope was to take some of the stress off of her, not add to it. But he also feared he would say the wrong thing.
Gods this was like coming to the surface all over again...he didnt know which way was up.
At least this time they spoke the same language. That was a plus.

"I have only ever had one before, an adopted child, she is...not really sure now, it has been a while since I have last seen or heard from her but yes, four can be a handful" she said, said quietly thinking that maybe giving two up would be a good thing...until she silently reprimand herself for thinking such idiotic thoughts "and hopefully you do because if that chid sheds just one tear when she or he is around you I swear..." she said glaring at him "you will be sorry" she said as her eyes glowed evily at him a little before settling down. "And don't worry about flying, I will be around, I care to have that joy thank you, I have three others besides this one to teach" she said as she looked down at the egg, placing her paws around it and pulled it gently into her chest, keeping it warm "so just come find me or I will find you and I will teach the little one, I don't want someone else taking that important role away from me" she said as she nuzzled the egg a little.

The dark elf bowed his head "as you wish, I would never imagine denying you that"
At that moment, a thought came to him "do you have any names you would prefer? And, is there a way to tell the gender at this point?" he inclined his head to the egg, unsure if he just wasn't missing an important clue.
"I beg you will forgive my ignorance, I must admit I am relatively new to this world, and all it's subtleties..." he gave a soft, almost painful chuckle.

"Thank you" DM said to him before shaking her head "and I don't, then again any name you give it will be fine, I am not too fussy as long as it is a decent name and nothing too silly or stupid, I don't really want my child to be ridiculed" she said, knowing that it would have to learn to stand up for itself anyway but still, a name shouldn't be something it would have to defend himself for "as for the gender, no idea, just have to wait till it is hatched" she said as she waved him last statement off. "Don't worry about it, I am also sort of, I have been here a little longer then you but still I have been around my play thing...er...Drake ever since I got here that I haven't really familiarized myself much with how things work here, I know the basics but thats really about it" she confessed, thinking maybe she should spend less time around Drake, he was fun and all but still.

Drizzt gave an audible sigh of relief, at being given some freedom with the name "nothing ridiculous...if it is a boy, either after my father; Zaknafein, or after a human Ranger who was very dear to me; Montolio...I fear if it as female, all I can think of is Meilikki, the name of my goddess..." he gave a little frown, he really did have to establish a home base, before the egg hatched. He would do that after, he decided, make a nice safe place for the egg to grow up.
He focused back on the now. He really had to stop drifting off like that.
"aside from yourself and he egg, I've only met two others...this world..." he paused and looked around, before turning back to her "is so different from the one I left...do you mind if I ask where you were from?"

"The names are good, a little strange I must admit but considering my name is no better I really can't speak but I do like them" she said...truthfully at that "as for where I am from I came to this world from a world from Japan, a place called Shibuya, not really THAT much different to this world except for a few minor exceptions but back then I wasn't an animal, I was basically called a 'pin' and was more or less an inanimate object and really only became animated when someone used my power as a weapon to fight with."Dark Matter sighed and shook her head "I don't know, its a little hard to really explain especially when you stop and think that a small little pin that was nothing but a weapon of destruction could turn into me, I don't really know how it happened but it did and the same goes with Drake, he is another of my kind who came here" she said as she looked up from the egg, her eyes having fallen one it once more and looked at him "but enough about me, what about you?" She asked, deciding that she could at least be civil and ask about his home world also since he asked about hers.

Drizzt nodded as she explained her home world to him. "it's not all that strange...Guenwhyvar, the ah.." he cleared his throat "feline who was here earlier, is summoned from a statue. Being summoned from a pin is not all that different." he said with another nod, and a tilt of his head at her question.
"my world? I originated from the Underdark, and the land of the dark elves. I never really belonged though. My people were far too...treacherous for my heart. I left Menzoberanzaan and survived in the Underdark wilds for a few decades...living alone in those conditions for that long...wasn't really living at all" he winced, luckily so far there has been no need for the Hunter. "I made my way to the surface, and lived in a sort of exile there as well. But I was free. And after a while, a very log while mind you, people began to see me for my heart and deeds, and not my heritage..."
He wondered if he would have the same problem here, so far he doubted it.
"as for how I ended up here...I have no idea" Drizzt said with a light shrug.
