Super Sailor Remarque had not been having the worst of evenings, though neither was it the best. With the cold he’d been suffering with for a few days now, he’d been feeling more and more under the weather. Fortunately he wasn’t as bad off as Raven, though by no means did that mean he was pleased with his condition. At the rate he was taking over the counter medicine and drinking orange juice, it was a wonder he hadn’t made himself any sicker.

He didn’t know if it was just a mental thing, though powering up always made him feel like he had a better chance of fighting off whatever it was that was constantly sapping his energy. But of course—powering up meant he had to go collect energy, and collecting energy meant that he had to go outside and actually work

And he couldn’t deny that he liked the rush he got when gathering energy, so regardless of the effect being out in the cold so late was having on his health, he simply couldn’t resist. Tonight had been fruitless as of yet; though it wasn’t quite as cold as a month ago, it was still scarce to locate a prime candidate for gathering energy and he found himself struggling along to find just about anyone that he could sap a little energy from.

After a few recent encounters closer to the city limits, he found himself strolling closer to the park he had originally started gathering energy in, and wandering only into mostly unpopulated areas nearby.

Sailor Iris firmly believed that the park was her territory as a civilian. It was pretty much like her backyard, since she lived so close to it. However, it wasn't just her territory when powered up. No, she had met way too many senshi there by chance, and even some Negaverse jerks.

The plans were simple for this evening. Meet up with Sailor Victoria in the park and then go patrolling together. Of course, Vic (as he seemed to prefer being called) had yet to show, leaving the eternal senshi a bit agitated and somewhat pacing in a small line, back and forth.

And that's where she sensed something odd. It definitely wasn't a senshi (or at least the sort of senshi she associated with senshi, being white moon), but it definitely wasn't quite the Negaverse. It was a decent sized power, if anything, probably equivalent to the Super Senshi if she were to guess. Before leaving to investigate, the tomboy sent Vic a quick text message: Somethings nearby. Hurry ur a** up. Im checking it out.

With that she banished her phone into subspace before wandering towards the source of this strange energy. Her white boots eventually led her to a blonde dude. His outfit was bizarre in her opinion, but then again, considering what she herself was wearing, she wasn't going to comment about it for now. It was odd though, certain aspects of it reminded her of a senshi, but overall the colors were too dark to be a true senshi (in her opinion).

Being the ever so subtle creature she was, the feather adorned blonde asked in a reasonable tone "...so... what th'f*ck are ya s'posed t'be?"

Holy s**t, where the hell did she—?

Remarque turned, a bit quicker than he’d intended, to look at the brightly colored girl in front of him. He hadn’t the faintest idea how he’d missed her aura, particularly because the energy signature she was radiating was greater than his—and on any given occasion that put him in a state of annoyance. Remarque did not like others being stronger than him, and often found himself quite cantankerous when face to face with anyone possessing superior power.

Not that he had any intention of acknowledging that the girl in front of him was any bit stronger than him. Fighting Chaonis had been one thing, but this? This was a girl. Albeit, she didn’t exactly talk like one.

“Excuse me?” he prompted, sounding a bit testy. It wasn’t that he assumed she knew who he was, but rather that his mind took a few seconds to translate her words. “I could ask you the same thing. Supposed to be is one thing. Am is another. And, I am Sailor Remarque, Dark Mirror Senshi of Puppetry. Who the hell are you?”

Iris shifted in place, moving both arms so they were crossed against her chest as she gave this guy a look up and down as he spoke of what his title was. Her brow quirked up slightly, since something sounded off in the title.

"...Dark Mirror Senshi...?" she questioned in a dull tone, as if she was testing the title out for herself on her own tongue. Nope, it still felt weird. Not being the sort to keep quiet about her own thoughts, she rather easily stated "...No clue what th'f*ck that is..." She shrugged indifferently before adding her own opinion rather bluntly.

"...jus' sounds like somethin' that gives th'senshi a bad name."

Of course, there were some sort of manners hiding in the tall girl (though the way she was speaking at the moment seemed like she was quite lacking in them), and she had noticed his question of her own identity. "Sailor Iris... Senshi of Rainbows..." Her rank was obvious and didn't need to be included.

“Oh? I don’t really think you need anyone’s help in give yourselves a bad name, you seem to do that just fine on your own,” Remarque mused, scanning over the girl’s face. He didn’t pinpoint any sort of accent, but couldn’t—for the life of him—seem to figure out why she would be speaking so slurred unless either she had a speech disorder or she just thought articulating her words was some painful chore.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t understand her, just that it took a slight second longer to translate her shorthand way of speaking into full sentences. The vulgarity of her preferred dialogue left him curious as to what to make of her; she was swearing like a sailor and he wasn’t quite prepared to cast judgment on her. Remarque had learned, from past experiences, that those with the foulest mouths were usually all show, though was quick to remind himself that you didn’t get to that level of power by bluffing alone.

Given the way of the world, however, Remarque assumed there was more than just dumb luck backing the girl up. The rational side of him (the currently severely impaired rational side of him) told him it would have been best to mind his own business and just wander off before he wound up in another situation similar to the whole Chaonis incident he’d had a while back. But. Walking away would have been just so unlike him.

Instead, Remarque placed his hands on his hips and took up a leisurely pose. If he was in any way concerned about the consequences of being a smart a**, he was very good at hiding it. For now.

She had already text messaged Vic before involving this situation. She had done her due diligence to her team and their rules. So now she was free to sort to this situation as she saw fit. After all, Vic should have been coming along soon enough.

Remarque's choice in commentary struck a nerve quite easily. It had been an annoyance to her for a couple years now to see how the media portrayed the senshi as the bad guys. Last she checked, it was the Negaverse that unleashed the youma. And it was the Negaverse that had been the cause of so many unexplained comas in this city. Last she checked, senshi didn't go ripping starseeds out of the chests of the innocent people in the city.

Both of her brows fell low and a large frown stretched its way onto her lips. "I am so f*ckin' sick of any ol' a*****e callin' th'senshi the problem in this city. It's the Negaverse and the fakers like yer sorry a** that are th'problem!" With that, the girl tightened up a fist before rushing the Dark Mirror Senshi. Where some in their anger might have aimed to punch the smirk off of the opponent's face, the eternal senshi went for the gut of the matter, swinging full force towards the soft spot right under the rib cage.

“Sorry? I’m not sorry,” he quipped, sidestepping her attack with very slight difficulty. Iris was using a move he favored immensely and on some subconscious level he was pleased to see her taking aim where he would have.

He’d have been far more pleased if she wasn’t trying to hit him but, hell. He’d had it coming. “And I never said you were a problem. It’s probably things like that—attacking me without provocation?—that give you a bad name. You did that all on your own.”

Remarque was eyeing the girl somewhat cautiously; she seemed every bit as ready to attack as Chaonis and just because he’d been able to avoid her fist the first time, there was far less distance between them now.

The girl didn't even pause in her pursuit after he had stepped aside from her first punch. The big whiff of air only seemed to drive her further. Sure, she missed the first hit, but without even a pause to notice such, she spun slightly as she stepped to the side, then popped out her opposite elbow out before aiming to back it into him as hard as she could. It was definitely her lack of hesitation between strikes that seemed to hint she had plenty of experience in the brawl.

Her only response to the taunts (at least she viewed them as such) was a simple "Yer full'a sh*t! That's what ya are!" He could try to logic it all he wanted, but as far as the bull-headed eternal was concerned, he not only crossed the line, but he was definitely a part of the problems in Destiny City.

Remarque would have been wise to have kept an eye on that elbow. Neglecting it was a mistake that was going to leave him bruised in the morning.

“Holy hell, are you ******** psycho or something?” he screeched, desiring to rub the freshly injured area to gauge how much damage she’d done. He didn’t want to give her the pleasure of acknowledging that—hot damn that had hurt!

There was a part of him, however vague it might have been, that chastised him in his mother’s voice. He was reminded not to hit girls, and to play fairly.

…But this girl hit like a guy and had jumped at him faster than he could blink.

Remarque was quite confident that Iris did not fit into the category his mother was speaking of.

Her elbow had dug deeply into his flesh, and while he had been convinced that a few quick words would ebb the girl’s anger and get her to back off, he had been sorely mistaken to assume it would have been that easy. Attacking her had not initially been his game plan, though with her already landing a blow and showing no signs of relenting, he really didn’t see himself as having much other option. While still recoiling from her blow, he curled his hand into a fist and swung it as best he could towards the pit of her stomach.

She had definitely come across guys who had more dignity than this guy before. He sounded like some sort of parrot with how he screeched. It was enough to give her a slight bit of a throbbing pain to pulse in her head.

Despite how satisfying it was to feel her elbow digging into this guy's gut, she yanked it forward and spun back around to face him. She barely got the chance to see the hand swinging in her direction, but out of the corner of her eye, she managed to see it and narrowly hop back enough for it to just graze her stomach slightly.

"...someone knows how t'scrap..." she commented as part of a grin seemed to form on her face. Not every guy knew how to fist-fight, let alone fist-fight effectively. Even with one swing on her opponent's part was able to tell her more than enough about their fighting experience.

In a less-than-feminine-manner, the girl spat to the side before digging her heels into the ground and swinging forward for a wide hook.

Spitting? Oh, how classy.

Remarque had little time to judge Iris for her actions before he had to worry about another fist coming at him. This girl had way too much energy; his body was whining to head home and take a nap after only this.

Boxing had been a part of his life for years, but Remarque had been in more than a few late night brawls where things had gotten dirty. Fighting clean was, after all, not always an option. His experience in the ring had taught him to fold his arm and lift it to create a barrier between her fist and his head, though such an action took away his greatest weapon—his left hand.

Remarque was not right handed, and with his entire left arm propped up like a shield on his shoulder, he instinctively reverted to a style that would have had him thrown out of the ring. He hooked his right arm around the back of Iris’ neck, in the process grabbing a fistful of hair, as if to hold her there, and jerked his knee towards her stomach.

He was aware, in this instance, that he had let himself exceptionally open to attack but—damn it—it didn’t take just anybody to get him to back down, and he was more than willing to take a few blows if it meant he got some in, too.

Iris was not invincible. In fact, the use of the boy's legs definitely was a smart choice. The eternal senshi was definitely a fist fighter, not so much a kicker by any means. Kicks were more Parthenope's specialty.

Of course, Remarque tangling his fingers into her hair was enough to cause her to wince slightly, but it also further made that throbbing in her head progress. The tomboy wasn't the sort to get headaches usually, and when she did, she just tried to ignore it, as was the plan now.

The well aimed knee managed to force quite a bit of air out of her in a heavy gasp. However, what sort of fighter would she be if she went down so easily? She knew opportunity when she saw it, and as the two stood there, connected in such a manner, the girl managed to get two words out from her lips.

"...got ya..."

Before he could get his leg down from his prior movement, she ducked down slightly and pushed her own body up against him, closing any gap between them and essentially squishing the one leg against himself. Her arms reached around his lower waist until she was able to knit her own fingers within her opposite pair. She had a tight hold of him now, which might not have seemed all that important at the moment, since it seemed as if she was stuck.

That was, until she stood up again, lifting her opponent up and aimed to heave him over her shoulder, as if preparing to body slam him in a near wrestler style.

Remarque had, ultimately, been prepared for what he had considered to be the worst—a punch to the gut, a kick to the crotch. He had not been prepared to be heaved over some scrawny girl’s shoulder like some sack of potatoes.

Had he in any way expected the action, he might have considered some method to try and block her—or retaliate, but the sheer surprise he faced was that a girl had just heaved him up over her shoulders. Had there been anyone around to witness this display, he might have felt humiliated and—surely that slight blush to his cheeks was more than just blood coagulating from being upside down.

In this position, there wasn’t really much he could do. What might have lasted only a second felt so much longer as his mind wrapped around the scenario. What could he do to escape? To get back on his feet? To minimize damage?

The questions danced around in his head as he was suspended upside down over the girl’s shoulder—and there was a very uncomfortable realization that there was neither any way for him to escape this position nor to get down without his face, in some way, meeting the pavement. Which he suspected was going to be occurring sometime soon given that the ground seemed to be looming ever closer.

Remarque expected pain from this but what was, in fact, the most unfortunate thing about the entire situation was that—despite having a prime view of Iris’ backside—he couldn’t even enjoy it.

The only thing that royally stank about her whole decision in tactics was the fact that the boy had managed to grab a hold of her hair prior to her movements. He was up and over, but it really wasn't until she started to allow her body to fall back, soon enough to smash the boy's body to the ground and her own body on top of him that she could feel several individual strands of hair getting ripped out of the back of her neck. She let out a small grunt, but the amount of pain she felt was probably going to be a but a pin p***k compared to what Remarque was going to soon be feeling.

A concrete and senshi-slam-wich was about to be on the menu.

Remarque had long since forgotten about the hair gripped in his hand—the moment his shoulder brushed against the paved ground beneath them, he realized how badly this was going to hurt. The initial landing was enough to knock his breath from him, though Iris’ landing atop of him?

It was practically overkill. While already recoiling and trying to re-inflate his lungs after the collision, Iris’ weight atop of him was enough to make Remarque lurch forward in pain. His vision blacked—not enough for him to pass out, but enough to let him know that his body did not like what he was currently putting it through.

He wanted to hiss some foul obscenity at the girl, to insult or harass her, but all that game out was a gruesome wheeze as he flopped back against the pavement, trying to blink away the darkness that had obscured his vision and catch his breath. It wasn’t that words eluded him, simply that he had neither the breath nor effort to speak them after Iris’ display.
