While Kettil willingly found a way to keep himself busy and away from the dorms while Freya told Herryk what had happened it didn't mean that it sat well with the Reaper that he pretty much took running in favor of facing the possible confrontation. Not only that the potential that he had ruined his friendship with Herryk didn't really sit well with him either.

Kettil had real excuse there was nothing tangible to really blame it on and even if there was it probably wouldn't even be brought up. He selected Herryk's name on his eyephone and sent a text message.

Text to Herryk
I'm probably the last boil you wanna talk to right now but I'll be waiting near the maul.

The Reaper didn't want to cause a public spectacle but he really didn't want to put Herryk in a defensive position by inviting him somewhere without people either. He glanced over at Endzela as he stood up, "I need to desummon you for a bit."

The Owl puffed up and glowered a bit, "If he hurts you I will tear his hair out," she hissed softly.

He smiled a bit and shrugged, "If he hurts me I deserved it for what I did. Now no more fussing," he said softly and then desummoned his familiar before he went out not telling anyone what he had planned.

Herryk had been in the midst of brushing his Nanna in a brooding sort of way when his eyePhone chimed quietly next to them. Reading the text, Herryk frowned an instant before crushing the eyePhone in his hand.

"Tch."

Settling Nona back in the pen, Herryk debated not going to the maul at all. What would he say to Kettil? He really couldn't say that he didn't want to knock out a few of Kettil's teeth. He really did. Herryk would love to do that. But... it would only serve to upset Freya, Herryk was sure of it. Then again, it might make him feel better. Try as he might, Herryk couldn't shake himself out of the funk he'd been in. Depression? In spades. Despite the conversation he'd had with Freya and their passionate time spent together thereafter, Herryk was still feeling upset.

Very upset, though he tried to do his best to hide it from Freya.

"Herryk is going to the maul," he informed his sizeable horde of poofs. "If Herryk does not return for his babies by the end of the day, it is because Herryk is in trouble." He sighed. He really hated the maul.

"Herryk also needs a new eyePhone."

It didn't take him long to get to the maul, and as he drew up to Kettil, there was a heated, furious rage that settled in his stomach. It was unhealthy, how much he wanted to strangle this boil.

Kettil was waiting outside nearby the building and as soon as he saw Herryk he didn't smile or anything of the sort but he did give a small nod in greeting, "Hey."

Awkward moment was awkward.

He wasn't sure what to say or how to launch into his apology because he knew he'd done wrong he shifted his shoulders a bit and then sighed, "Look, I know I done wrong. If you want to sock me one for what happened then do it, you have every right to."

"I ... I remember what I told you ... It's bad enough that I hurt my Lark but to hurt you in the bargain isn't exactly filling me with the warm fuzzies either," he said quietly.

If there was one thing that Herryk hated more than anything ever in his entire unlife, it was being given permission to mash someone's face into a pulp. Honestly, just hearing Kettil's voice was grating enough on Herryk's nerves, but to actually listen to the boil's words?

Only further served to piss Herryk off.

He slashed a hand through the air between them. The last time he'd met this boil and had an earnest conversation with him, he'd been lied to. Blatantly. Herryk hated being lied to, almost as much as he hated being told that it would be okay to punch Kettil in his face. And now, coming to speak with Kettil, he was just... supposed to forget everything? He couldn't even look at Freya without thinking about her kissing the reaper before him. It made him sick. It made him hurt. Being the boil he was, though, he didn't want to talk to Freya about it. The last thing he wanted to do was upset Freya.

"This is stupid, pointless." Herryk gnashed his teeth. "No matter what Herryk says to Kettil, it will only get back to Freya, and then Freya will be upset at Herryk." He clenched his hands into fists.

"Herryk can not win here. Kettil wants to talk, fine. Kettil can talk. Herryk can make no demands or threats. Herryk cannot say to Kettil, 'stay away from Freya' -- because for some reason Freya enjoys the company of this lying boil, and to threaten Kettil will only upset Freya. Herryk cannot say to Freya, 'stay away from Kettil' for fear of starting another fight."

Herryk narrowed his eyes, an ugly expression twisting his features. Everything about his stance reeked of resignation. He loved Freya too much to live without her so he was dealing with these issues in his own way. There was no way he was going to try and make Kettil feel better about what had transpired. At this point, the reaper was lucky he didn't have a big, meaty fist flying directly into his nose.

Kettil stared at Herryk as he lashed out making slashing motions at the air grumbling at him like the world's most pissed off giant and he just shifted his shoulders a little and said, "The most I'll tell Freya is that I talked to you. What is said between us stays that way, Herryk. If we part this not being able to be friends again then that is it. I'm not going to force it. I just..."

Would he stay away from Freya if Herryk asked him to? Kettil had to pause and think about that. His brow furrowed in thought though being called a liar set him a bit on edge his posture shifted as he stared up at Herryk, "What I told you were not lies. My actions were unplanned. I went to Freya to tell her what happened with Lark. For it to have been a lie I would think I'd have to plan for it for a while before it even happened."

There was a little bit of planning at the start of their first meeting but it was quickly dropped.

He stared Herryk in the eyes, "Besides, you threatened me the first time a whole bunch and that never got back to Freya. So I do not see your concern about that." Kettil couldn't promise that if Herryk DID punch him and Freya saw the Reaper afterwards that the ghoul wouldn't be able to put two-and-two together.

Herryk's hands clenched into rather large fists an instant before the boil drove his hands through his hair. Of all places to have this conversation, the maul? Really? Maybe Kettil was honestly afraid that Herryk was going to hit him.

"Herryk is not going to hit Kettil," the draugr hissed, pinching the bridge of his nose and squeezing his eyes closed. He wasn't sure where this conversation was going to go, and quite frankly he'd rather be anywhere but here. Preferably locked inside of his room. Alone.

5ever.

"Herryk... is not going to say anything to try and make Kettil feel better about what happened. Herryk is also not going to..." the draugr paused. This just felt so pointless. Everything did. A bleak shade of gray painted everything in Herryk's world right now.

"Herryk does not know what Kettil wants from him."

"Didn't say anything about hitting," he said simply with a small shrug. As far as most things were concerned this was going pretty well. At least well enough there was tension and awkwardness between them but there was no violence involved for the most part.

He shook his head, "I don't want you ... to make me feel better about what happened. If you want to hold a grudge on me forever then that's fine," Kettil said softly and tilted his head downwards a little bit. "I just...wanted you to know that it wasn't planned not even in the slightest I didn't wake up that day saying ... I am going to kiss another boil's ghoul. I wouldn't do that," his brow furrowed he looked bothered by the whole event.

Kettil glanced around a bit and frowned, "Herryk wanna come with me to a more quiet place to talk because...I just picked this place cause because it was neutral, I just didn't know where else we could meet."

The longer that Herryk stood talking to Kettil, the more he felt like this was all a horrible idea. Part of him just wanted to disappear so that he didn't have to deal with all of this. He'd contemplated just leaving Amityville after he'd last parted ways with Freya. It would be easy to do. Easy to find a job somewhere, perhaps carrying out tasks that nobody else wanted to do. Something to occupy his time, his mind.

He couldn't stop thinking about Freya kissing this boil before him. It was a sick sort of self-torture, and it was starting to eat him alive. The last thing he wanted to do right now was be around Kettil. To look at Kettil.

Right now, all Herryk wanted to do was brood in solitude as he tried to figure out where to go from this point forward. Because despite all of the reassurances that Freya had given him... Herryk was starting to seriously convince himself that there was something wrong with him.

And all he wanted to do was break down just a little, just a little, to ease the knot in his chest.

"No. Just... just talk. The sooner that Herryk can go home, the better." His voice was laced with something that sounded much like defeat.

Kettil sighed softly as Herryk told him to just talk rather than favoring a place of privacy so they could get everything out. His arms crossed over his chest as he only nodded a little as his brain just rifled through the thoughts and feelings. He had enough of this talking about Freya and what had happened. It was time to drop it and go onward from there and start rebuilding.

"You know, Herryk, you can still call on me. I know I've shown myself to be a shitty friend but you can trust me. I swear it on my blood," he said softly staring up at Herryk. "In battle, in anything you need. I consider you almost like a brother."

It is probably why this was tearing Kettil up so bad. Why he had the urge to talk to Herryk in the first place. He'd never betray his brother this way but it was hard to explain how he didn't feel in control of himself because no one seemed to ... understand. Kettil didn't like not being in control of himself.

Herryk couldn't believe the words that were just falling out of the reaper's mouth like they were supposed to mean something. Like Herryk was supposed to just ... clap Kettil on the shoulder and just say something mundane and vague about how everything was going to be fine.

He couldn't do it. No, Herryk had done what he could to fix the relationship that meant the most to him. For right now, until he was able to work through the issues he felt needed dealing with... this relationship was going to have to wait. Herryk didn't care enough to fix this right now.

Instead of saying anything he might regret later, Herryk merely shook his head in disbelief, turned on his heel, and walked away.

He'd get a new eyePhone later.

Herryk was starting to walk away, Kettil felt a sick knot in his stomach, "I don't want you to make me feel better, I don't want you to be false with me, I just wanted to talk to you and apologize to you face to face." He didn't walk after him, "instead of hiding like a complete coward. It has to count for something." One might have expected desperation in his tone but there was none.

"Did she tell you that she laughed at me? Did she tell you that she gagged and had to get away from me because I was too warm for her?" He called out to Herryk, there was no hurt tone in his voice just re-accounting of facts that might never had been shared or if they were Kettil obviously didn't know.

He stayed put, "You ruined her for other boils, Herryk." There was no mockery as one might have expected from this phrase. It was an observation - a thought. If he had still been completely smitten with Freya he probably would have said it with mockery but now things were different. So different.

"You can hate me for the rest of your unlife, you can be mad at me for a while. I don't even know why I kissed her Jack damn it but it happened and I can't take it back just to make you feel better and take away the hurt it caused any more than she can." He was probably cruising for a bruising but he didn't care at this point. Let him punch him square in the face. Just let him.

When Kettil called out to him, Herryk gave pause. He didn't hear Kettil's words about how she'd laughed, how she'd gagged, how Kettil was too warm. He didn't hear any of that. There was one thought that kept incessantly burning in his brain, one tiny little thing that prevented him from just... moving on.

What if she hadn't done any of those things?

What if Freya had given a breathless gasp the way she did when Herryk kissed her? What if she'd cried out the way she did when Herryk touched her? What if, what if, what if?

And why had she felt the need to even find out?

Clenching his teeth and gritting his teeth, Herryk just kept walking. None of it really mattered at this point. Hitting Kettil wasn't going to make him feel better. Sure, he deserved it - there was no denying that. Right now, though, all Herryk wanted was to be left alone.

Kettil had said his piece at least as far as he could say his piece.

Herryk didn't march back and punch him for his piece.

He supposed that is the best he could ask for though he wasn't sure if any of it got through and certainly he could run after the oaf and try to force him to face it but right now that wouldn't fix a damn thing beyond just pissing off Herryk and probably breaking a few areas of Kettil's face.

In the interest of preserving his good looks (and general well being) he just let Herryk go as he turned around with a small sigh and walked into the maul so he could maybe find something nice for Lark.
