It was a waiting game. Niyati hated that particular sort of game, but she figured they pay out would be well enough that waiting for the young lion to find her was worth it. He was an attractive young male, there was no doubt about that. Their previous run-in had been... amusing enough to keep her interest. Perhaps waiting would make the inevitable run-in far more enjoyable. Niyati had no doubt that he would come. There had been interest in his eyes, interest that was displayed with clumsy flirting. Was it a little pig-headed of her to have no doubt that he would come? Probably.
Did she care? No. It was simply the truth. He would come, because she knew she was far too irresistable to ignore. If nothing else, he would come based solely on pure curiosity. He still did not know her name, and in fact knew little of the pink lioness. That was the way Niyati almost wanted it to stay. If he was lucky, she'd give him her name. If he was unlucky, he'd forever know her as Snatcher, but that did not mean she was excluding other things. Niyati had put too much effort into this to walk away empty handed.
The pink lioness was curled atop a rather large rock, away from the safety of Chandran's pridal lands. She wasn't too far away from the border, but far enough to press at Chandran's sense of security. She did not want him so anxious that he would not come so far to find her, but she needed to properly gauge his interest and daring. Being cute was no excuse for being cowardly, and Niyati usually found that so... disheartening. She was used to confident rogue male lions who knew how to get what they want, not these sheltered pridal types. Niyati couldn't decide which she liked better, and maybe Chandran would help her with the decision.

It had not taken Chandran long to decide he would leave during the night to find his pink princess. A few pals had even offered him some words of advice... among disbelieving guffaws of laughter. He didn't care, the less that believed the better! If they got curious and went looking themselves it would just mean a rival, would it not? He'd even spent some of the day paying compliments to a few girls his age, and as he'd thought they'd seemed pleased that he'd spoken to them. Maybe older females were just different? That had to be it.
But when the sun began to sink he couldn't think of what he was supposed to say to the sparkly female who'd so quickly captured his heart. That and... well she'd spoken of giving him instruction, which... every time he thought of it his stomach seemed to drop and his heart tried to lodge itself into his throat. He had an idea of what she meant, but then felt embarrassed and wondered if it was just because he was young that his mind came to this conclusion. As he moved closer to the border of his lands he repeatedly thought to himself that he wasn't going to meet her because of what he thought her words meant, it was because he really did want to get to know her.
It didn't take him long to realize she wasn't going to be within boarders, especially when he'd caught her scent. It was intoxicating, exotic. He bit down on his lip and threw one glance over his shoulder before slipping into the rogue lands. By now the sun was completely gone from the world, and the dark touched every space of the land. The moon seemed to be peaking only a little at the lands below, and the shadows it created were eerie. He wasn't afraid, of course... but it wasn't wise to leave pride boundaries at night. The scent became stronger the further her travelled, and thankfully that was not far.
"...S..snatcher?" He called out softly, immediately feeling silly. He cleared his throat. "Miss?" There, that sounded less ridiculous. She must have been around here somewhere!

The color of her pelt naturally indicated that she was not the most nocturnal animal. Hunting at night always proved to be a challenge when her prey could spot the bright pink of her coat. There was still, however, a small edge over daytime. A lot of animals saw more poorly in the dark, and even though she was brightly colored, she could make a kill. But, she preferred the daytime still. It was easier for her to see the richness of another's pelt, the subtle shifts in expression on another lion's face. Fortunately, it was not terribly late. She could still recall the moment the sun touched the earth.
Chandran was easy for her to spot from her small vantage point. The night sky-colored portions of his pelt were difficult to see, but they blotted against the white, making an unmistakable pattern. Ah, finally. Niyati would have waited a little bit longer, if only because she was confident that he would come for her. It was time to make a move, and Chandran would soon find himself without the safety net of his pridal lands. Niyati was a true rogue, and well, she didn't particularly feel like being accidentally bothered by a pride lion.
Besides, it was fun to mess with the younger male a little bit.
She jumped down from her rock, walking up behind him silently. Instead of stopping to greet him, she instead made a pass, her tail swishing against his cheek as she walked by. After moving a few steps ahead of him, she looked back over her shoulder, fixing on him an airy expression. "It's Niyati." Another pause. "Are you coming?" she was walking away again, further from his homelands.

He shivered as her tail suddenly brushed up against his cheek, and the expression on his face was a mixture of curiosity and bewilderment, mostly because after she passed she mentioned what he could only assume was her name! "Niyati..." He breathed out, to himself. A slow smile crept onto his maw as he snapped out of his daze and moved after her, the fact that they were not in his lands had completely left his mind.
"Your name suites you." He said pleasantly, carefully. He wasn't sure if he should tell her how pretty he thought it was, or if she was just going to be put off again. "Does it mean anything?" His voice held a tone that was both excited and nervous, his head filled with idea after idea as he wondered why he'd chosen to come find her so late at night. He probably should have just waited until the morning! "My name means shinning moonlight." He chuckled slightly at that. "Predictable, huh? Have a few stars on your pelt and everyone thinks you should be associated with the night sky or something." Or maybe it'd had something to do with his white pelt, which made him seem different from the rest of his siblings. He'd never asked, as he always felt awkward asking his parents about what he considered to be his strange looks.

"If it means anything, I wasn't told, nor do I really care. I think the sounds go nicely together. It rolls off the tongue a little bit, no?" She slowed her pace just enough for Chandran to catch up to her. There was a naive eagerness in his eyes that made her think that he was a little in over his head. He had no idea what to expect out of her, and she had all the expectations in the world. Niyati wasn't the sort of lioness who usually liked to help a lion transition from boyhood to manhood, but Chandran was going to be the exception. There was a part of his naivety that was... charming. She'd enjoy seeing how he coped with the situation later.
"Your name is corny," she answered with a soft laugh. "I would never name any cub of mine that way. I'd pick things that sound nice, so they don't feel... expectations to live up to their name." Of course, she did not intend to have cubs herself for a while. Her siblings had contributed enough to the population that Niyati got the pleasure of simply enjoying herself. One day she could be convinced that the idea was good enough. But, right now the idea of having pretty daughters was somewhat unsettling. They'd probably end up as competition, and Niyati hated the idea of having competition.
Overall, she was amused. He was following her without hesitation, and so she continued to guide them for a little while. By the time she had stopped, the moon was waning higher into the sky. Niyati sat down, her back against an old, dead tree. "I was wondering how far you would go," she mused aloud. "It seems you'll go pretty far, if we were to take things literally."

It was too bad for him that he'd already fallen head over tail for the female, even if it was only because she was stunning. He'd hardly noticed the flaws in her personality, and probably would not notice them. "Yes, rolls off the tongue!" He agreed eagerly, wishing he had called her name pretty. "Well, even if you don't know the meeting it still is a very lovely name."
He was conflicted between her words and her laugh, her laugh was just as pretty as her name. "I... don't think that my name doesn't sound nice." He replied slowly, carefully. Just because of a meaning she thought his name was corny? Sure, he thought it was a little silly, the meaning behind it... but it still sounded nice, right? Not as nice as hers, of course.
"Though luckily I have no expectations due to my name." He stated in a joking manner, grinning at her. When she stopped he hardly looked around, he just watched her with a soft, slightly nervous smile on his maw. He blinked at her words, his smile faltering. He glanced around, blinking. Ah... they had moved pretty far from the boarders... it made his fur start to stand on end. But he wasn't sure that was actually what she'd meant with her words... was she hinting at... well... the reason why he thought they were both out here in the first place? He cleared his throat, trying not to look too embarrassed. He moved a few steps toward her, unsure. "I would." He stated, though he wasn't sure if he meant he'd go far through the lands just to spend time with her or... or... or what he thought she was implying.

It was endearing, really, how much she had the young lion wrapped around her claws already. There was a small thrill in it that Niyati could not deny. He was pretty, but he was also way in over his head. She really was doing this world a favor by taking the plunge and initiating him into adult life. Her siblings would probably tease her for pursuing someone so young, but what could she say? She liked pretty lions, and he was certainly pretty. Chan was charming, in that naive sort of way that was impossible to ignore. He just needed to stop talking so much - it almost ruined the mood. Maybe he'd grow out of that stage, but Niyati would likely long be gone by then.
"It sounds nice, but hearing that meaning, oh, just sort of ruins the feel," she answered with an easy smile. Really, she was only teasing him so much because she knew he was long past the point of rejecting her. She'd string him along for as long as possible, to further how own enjoyment at his small expense. Of course, he would be compensated by other means, so she didn't think she was being cruel at all.
An easy smile graced her features yet again, and she was immensely pleased with herself for so effortlessly roping this young lion in. He was far less annoying now than he was when he was nothing more than a cub. She should feel like a cradle snatcher, but the term flitted throughout her head with little weight, and whispered out an ear. "Don't be so hesitant. I wouldn't have guided you out of your lands if I didn't want you to come closer. We wouldn't want anyone to spy on us, hmmm?" she purred, coaxing him closer with every word out her pink maw.

His mother might beat him tothe point of death if she'd even caught a whiff of what Chan was out here, about to do, right then. And his siblings? Well he wasn't sure how they'd take it. Arusi wouldn't really get it, of course. His brothers? Well... ah! Why was he even thinking about his family right then? They didn't matter! Right now he should only be thinking of the beautiful creature standing before him, beckoning him closer. A shiver ran down his spine, no doubt due to equal parts anxiety because he was so young and didn't really have a clue what he was doing and just nerves and slight giddiness from even having this sort of opportunity.
But why would anyone spy on them? And what would getting closer do to prevent said spying? He did not ask, he realized most of what he said usually ended up spilling out of his mouth in a stupid and juvenile manner. At least, that was how she made it seem. He took a few steps forward, jaw parted and look rather dumbfounded. He cleared his throat and his maw shut with a tiny little click.
Right, he needed to stop being so nervous. She had chose him, after all. "No, we wouldn't want that.." But despite his thoughts being positive his voice was left rather breathy, exhilarated and clearly still nervous. As he moved even closer to the female he couldn't help but feel inklings of panic clawing at his legs, his throat, his heart. She did want him out here for what he suspected... but what if this was all some cruel joke? Really if she was teasing him and he did make the first move it would be something he was unable to live down, wouldn't it? But the same could be said if she was absolutely serious and he made no move toward her, staying as the scared and naive male that he very much was!
It seemed to him that he had a lot to lose either way, but he knew which of these things he'd like to lose less. So he closed the smaller gap he'd put between them, almost clumsily rubbing his head against her neck in an affectionate manner. "I want you." He breathed out the words, his panic had risen so much so that he thought he might throw up.

She could practically feel his own panic, and while she usually would have been a little turned off by his naivety she was in this for the long haul, so to speak. Again she could only find his nerves endearingly annoying and endearingly cute. Any other lion would have definitely taken advantage of the situation by now. Chandran, evidently, needed to be guided to avoid a panic attack. She'd almost feel guilty if he freaked out so much that he couldn't do anything at all. Almost. The threat of feeling guilty was enough to push Niyati back on the right track.
While his steps had been tentative, nerves holding him back, Niyati now approached him with all of the confidence a rogue lioness needed to survive. She reached out, playfully pressing her paw against his muzzle. "There's no reason for you to tie your tail over this. C'mon, it's going to be fun." With an easy smile, she pulled her paw back instead to playfully flick his nose with the back of her paw. "You're going to hold yourself back, and where, may I ask, is the fun in that?"
Her intentions were clear, as were his, but she knew that his youth was holding him back. She knew he would hesitate, but for how long was out of her comprehension. He'd get over it, and then Niyati could finally get what she wanted.

If only he'd had a little more experience, or perhaps was older... but clearly in his mind being older meant having more experience. He could not wrap his head around the fact that this older, beautiful lioness wanted him. It was... unreal.
Her words had a calming effect though, for the most part. He was still excited and nervous but he felt easier about going into this all so blindly. When she reached her paw to his maw he felt like a thousand little sparks tickled over the spot, and could only wonder what it would feel like shortly. Fun, he had to keep reminding himself. Not embarrassing or ridiculous or nerve-wracking enough to cause him to throw up.
He snuffed as she suddenly flicked his nose, frowned and then suddenly laughed. It seemed just the slight tease from her had finally broken whatever enchantment he'd wrapped himself up in. She was right, of course, in the fact that it wouldn't be any fun if he was to act like a scared little cub the whole time. It had taken her long enough to make him realize this, and he was not going to continue to wait and build those nerves back up. "That... would not be any fun at all..." He agreed, his voice finally seeming a little more bold.
Where had all the confidence gone that he'd felt upon first seeing her? He needed to find it, grasp onto it, and hold it tightly in his paws. He rubbed up against her side, his maw close to her ear. "So I'll stop holding myself back then." He purred out softly, but even then it was almost as though he was asking her permission, even when no question was posed. Poor Chan, one day he would find his confidence, come to realize that the glittery goddess before him was not the only beautiful creature in the land. Or perhaps he wouldn't, only time would tell. -end-
