There were things that the desert princess needed to tend to.
At least, that was what she believed firmly. She was the last of her people, and though the Iridians could effectively be considered extinct, there were some customs that she did not want to see die out. There was one in particular that had been poking at the back of her mind since she had visited the Grand Hall.
She had managed to somehow drift to the Port City after returning to the world of Iris. Her wings were tucked up along the back of her shoulders, almost like a feathery cloak. Once more, she looked to the dirty surroundings in what could have been considered her parents' palace, sighing heavily.
"...I know what I need to find at least..." she uttered mid-sigh. Rather than remain in place, she moved forward, her gown dragging slightly against the dust-covered ground. Like her first visit, her gown seemed to carve out her path along the floor, brushing away the dust with each step she took. The girl seemed to drift towards one of the openings along the wall forming a sort of doorway for the next room.
As if testing her memories, she uttered out "...this was a guest room..." There was less chance of her accidentally coming across the remains of someone who passed than if she had investigated one of the more frequently used rooms. Passing through the doorway, she glanced about the room.
It was a rather simple set up, though it looked as if some things had been knocked over at some point during the thousand years of waiting. There was a mat on the ground with very faint padding that was meant for a "bed." There was a table that was basically just a large slab of stone. There were a few trinkets that had been set on the table for decoration. They were mainly strange bottles, but there were also a few items for hygiene. A large bowl which had been meant for washing and a roughly woven cloth that had rotted mostly through now.
After the casual look over, her voice livened up the deathly quiet room "...come now... there's got to be one here somewhere..."
Rather than leave everything be, the girl got down on her knees and began to try to move the few items in the room around to potentially locate something hidden from her view. Starting with the slab of stone, she pushed at it slightly to move it away from the wall. Her gold eyes tried to see behind the space, and to her disappointment she found nothing but dust. She picked up a few of the bottles from the table, bringing them close to herself and looking them over carefully.
"...no... these are not what I am looking for..." she said critically before moving towards the mat.
With her hand, she patted along the mat, as if trying to feel all the way through the scant thing. She went through approximately 3/4 of the length of the mat before she noticed something.
"...hello..." She carefully let her fingers drift to the edges of the mat before lifting it up and folding it over to expose the area beneath it. There was a thin sort of dish that looked as if it was meant for taste-testing food as one prepared it made out of an ivory colored substance. Well, it was more than ivory in color. Iris knew the truth. It was ivory from another allied asteroid. With the very tips of her fingers, she lifted up the object, then set it in the palm of her other hand.
"...I do not know who this belongs to... but I need to borrow this indefinitely... I... I hope you understand..."
Cradling the small dish in her fingers, she smiled before standing herself back up to her feet. Just like how she had seemed to drift into the Grand Hall, she once more drifted off again, back to Earth with this newly gained treasure.
It was a risk bringing something like this to Earth, but there were some risks that she'd be willing to take. Just like in the past, she'd guard this secret custom like any true blood Iridian would.
