A nice, steaming hot shower had done Jett wonders; the steam had calmed his sniffles for nearly twenty minutes after he got out. They returned—more vengeful than before. Jett suspected Millicent’s cold might have been responsible for worsening his own, though he knew that it was unlikely spending two hours with the girl was going to make him any sicker so soon.

He stopped at two stores before heading to Raven’s. The first, a supermarket, where he picked up a few fruits and a lush bouquet of flowers, and the second, a carry out restaurant where he procured some precooked comfort foods.

When he arrived, he blew his nose, tossed the tissue in a bag in his car, applied a copious amount of hand sanitizer before pocketing the bottle, and then meticulously carried everything to the front door and let himself in. Navigating was easy enough; he had been here plenty of times before. In one hand, he held the homemade cards and bouquet, and in the other he had carefully looped his arms through the plastic bags and was carrying the few boxes from carryout. He knocked on the doorframe of Raven’s room with his elbow before sucking in a breath—preparing for the worst—and entered his girlfriend’s room.

Raven was absolutely miserable, laying in bed, covered in a pile of tissues nearly an inch deep. She was absolutely miserable. Though, that may have been an understatement. She sneezed then gave a groan, hand going to rest on her forehead. She had a god-awful splitting headache. She hadn’t left her bed for anything other than using the rest room or…well. That was about it.

She gave a deep cough and shook her head, snuggling deeper under the blankets. Why had she gotten this damn cold. She didn’t even do anything to warrant it. She had been taking care of herself, she had always made sure. She was one of those girls who never got sick!

Well, that had come to an end. Maybe this was ten years of colds all piling up on one another and causing her to be the most miserable creature in the world. It figured.

When Jett walked into her room, she looked at him sleepily. “Oh…Hey there. Come to cheer me up, puppet boy?”

"Cheer you up? I guess you could call it that. You look awful," Jett informed, as if the girl needed to be reminded of such. He invited himself further into her room, carefully balancing everything in his arms. Carefully, he eased himself onto her bed, tentative on sitting too close to her and yet not wanting to make this awful. "Picked you up some stuff while I was out. Fruits, food and flowers. Don't eat the flowers," he warned, extending the bouquet to the bed-ridden blonde as he carefully reorganized the bags near to him. With as much as Raven seemed to be staying in bed, the last thing he wanted to do was spill food all over it.

He did not come here to do laundry. Maybe some flirting, maybe some considerate pampering, garner some good boyfriend points…but not laundry.

"So how you doing?" he prompted, knowing she was far sicker than he was--and he already felt like s**t, so he didn't want to imagine what she was going through right now.

Raven gave a little smile at all of the things that Jett seemed to have brought. All for her. All for her in all of her sickness. Well. At least if they ever got married, that whole ‘in sickness and in health’ part would be covered. She reached for the flowers and smelled them, then drew away from them, face scrunching up and a huge sneeze erupting from the blonde.

Oh, this was just about the worst cold she had ever had. Ever. And it didn’t seem to be getting any better at all. It wasn’t even pretending to be getting better. She just felt downright miserable.

“I’m sorry, Jett. I’m a mess right now.” She wiped at her nose with a tissue then flopped back onto her pillows. For as much as she wanted to see her boyfriend, she wasn’t sure she’d last very long into this visit. Not if she was already so tired…and a little dizzy, to be honest.

“Did you bring me any medicine by chance…or maybe some soup? I think I'd be doing a lot better if you pulled some of that out of one of your bags.”

“Actually, yes,” Jett huffed at the girl, sticking out his tongue. He fished through one of the bags and pulled out a Styrofoam cup with a plastic top and a still wrapped spork. “If you sit up, I’ll give it to you,” he bribed, though was already holding it out for her. He set everything else down and with his free hand was fishing through another bag, grinning successfully when he pulled out several different boxes of basic over the counter medicine. He presented her with these as well, explaining, “I had no idea how plague-ridden you’d be, so I let some guy con me into buying next to everything.”

He gave her a good look over, seeming thoughtful. “…You look pretty bad, Rave.” He wasn’t necessarily teasing at that point in time, and there might have been the briefest hint of concern in his voice. “Do you have a fever?”

Shifting positions, he moved closer to Raven, carelessly depositing the medicine on her stomach and moving so he could press the back of his now empty hand to her forehead. He was still a bit chilly, so her forehead already seemed unnaturally warm to him when he made contact with her flesh.

When Raven saw the soup, and the medicine and everything else, it really was all she could do not to burst into sickness driven tears. He was so nice to her right now…and that medicine. It all looked so wonderful and delicious and perfect and ugh.

This damn cold had totally turned her into some wacky drug addict.

“Well, I feel like I have a fever…and I think I’ve been having one pretty steady for the last few days so…yeah.” His hand felt like an ice cube on her forehead and she let out a happy little sigh. Maybe she would see if her mom or dad or something would bring up an ice pack for her. That might make the fever go away faster…but it would make her colder than she already was too…so maybe that wasn’t a good idea.

“Thank you so much for bringing all of this medicine. If I wasn’t so sick, I would totally kiss you to show you how much I’m…happy.”

Oh god. Had the fever started to fry her brain? She was beginning to forget how to talk in normal sentences. “I’m so ******** tired of being sick.”

Jett couldn’t help but grin at Raven’s words, though she already seemed to have it rough enough; he didn’t want to piss her off by making fun of how she was speaking. “I think it’s reward enough if you don’t kiss me until you get better. Don’t know what I’m coming down with, but if it gets any worse, I’m blaming it on you. You and Millie. Oh—speaking of Millie. She was over earlier.”

He removed his hand from hers and went for the cards, picking them up before they got crushed. He gave the cards one last look over and then extended them to Raven. “We made these for you. You know. Get well cards. Hers is the one on top,” he explained, despite the fact that it was very obvious who had made what. Slipping the cards into her hand, he focused on opening the Styrofoam cup of soup so she didn’t have to worry about making a mess with it. Plus, it smelled pretty damn good, he wanted to taste it before handing it over.

“Yeah, yeah…” She coughed then rubbed at her eyes for a long moment before finally looking at the cards. The one was covered in glitter, and she chuckled, before entering a fit of coughing that shook the whole bed. “Oh…Oh Millie. She is adorable isn’t she…Tel her thank you for me, won’t you?”

She looked at Jett’s card and smiled, then gave another yawn. “Well. If you get sick, it’s your own fault for visiting me. Not that I’m complaining about you visiting me, but…I don’t want you to get sick. So…Yeah.”

She put the cards on her bedside table, knocking a few tissues onto the floor first so there would be room, then just stared at them happily for a good minute, before turning back to Jett. “Are you going to feed me my soup? I think that is what a good boyfriend would do for their poor, sick, dying girlfriend. Not that I’m dying, mind you. But. You know.”

“Feed you?” Jett asked, amused expression on his face. He had opened the soup and was poking the spork through the plastic wrapper. “Sweetheart, I suppose I could manage that for you. As long as you promise to take some medicine and go to sleep, afterwards. Oh, but--try not to look so helpless, I might just have to take a picture to blackmail you with later.”

He adjusted positions and fluffed a few of the pillows Raven wasn’t using so he could make himself comfortable. Sitting next to her, he propped them up against the headboard and then leaned against them. Dipping the spork into the cup of steaming soup, he stirred it for a second, scooped up a few noodles, and then took a bite. Savoring the flavor for a few seconds, he nodded and then scooped up another small bite for Raven. He wore a grin on his face, amused with her plight, and yet was careful not to spill any of the soup on her. “Open wide, darling. Do I need to make choo-choo noises for you, too?”

Raven just chuckled at this, not having the energy to give a proper angry retort. No, now she just wanted to eat the soup, take the medicine and go to sleep. “Yes, Jett. I promise I’ll nap for the rest of the day. Honest.”

She snuggled close to him and pouted for a moment when he took the first bite of the soup, but then just opened her mouth, giving a happy sigh at how good the soup tasted. It was the first thing she had really been able to taste in days. “Oh…That is delicious. Thank you so much, Jett. You’re a lifesaver…”

She yawned then and shook her head. “I just want to get better now. I’m really…sick of this. If you’ll pardon the pun…” Raven let out a little sigh and just smiled at him a moment later. “I’m lucky to have you. I think. Thank you.”

“You are lucky,” Jett agreed. “You’re the first girl I’ve dated in a while. And I wasn’t planning on dating again until I’d built up an empire. Or until mom started badgering me it being all right if I was gay again,” he grumbled, rolling his eyes. He spooned another spork-full of noodles, let it cool and then held it to Raven’s mouth as he continued, “The last girl I dated left me with a bit of a sore spot, so I hadn’t intended to date any girl under twenty. Too immature and indecisive. Doesn’t know what she wants.”

He did not announce if Raven was included in this category or not, but the fact that he was here, spooning soup into her mouth when he was sick, himself—that he had spent significant money and time on her already just to make sure she was doing okay—had to mean that she was something to him.

Raven listened and ate the scoop of the soup, thinking. Jett had another girlfriend before? Maybe that was before she really knew him or something…but…Maybe she remembered him with some girl…or she might just be imagining that. Still. She must have really hurt him, that ‘other girl’…if he hadn’t planned on dating anyone under twenty. She was only just eighteen…but…but they had been through an awful lot together in the past few months…and were partners in the DMC…and looked fantastic together.

There was no reason for either of them to ever really have doubts about one another anyway. She swallowed her mouthful of soup, then sighed, grinning sleepily at him. “Don’t worry, Jett. I promise…the only sore spots you’ll get from me will be from the next time we go out to train together. I won’t hold back just because you’re my boyfriend.”

Maybe now wasn’t the time to really be making jokes, but…in truth, she wasn’t sure what else to say. Her mind was too foggy to say anything sentimental or anything wise…so jokes were just a good thing to fall back on. At least for the moment.

Her ploy worked; Jett laughed and shook his head as he spooned another mouthful out of the cup for her. “Yeah, you wish. You’ll be lucky if you get a blow in on me. But, you’re welcome to try. I might have to take it easy on you the next time we go out and train, it doesn’t look like you’ll be in any state to fight anyone for a while. So don’t go out and do anything without me, I don’t want you to get your a** handed to you by some senshi and make me come over and pamper you then, too. You don’t know how much time went into making that card,” he griped, though still seemed to be in good spirits as he continued to feed her the soup.

Raven looked more than out of it, though while he was here he would at least make sure she got something healthy in her stomach and took some medicine. He was sick, but not enough that he was bedridden, and it was somewhat lonely to have a girlfriend who couldn’t even roll out of bed to hang out with you. Naturally she would be more miserable than he was at this situation, but he was certainly a little disappointed. He’d grown rather fond of the girl, even if it was most often displayed through physical attention.

…And there was no way he was going to lock lips with her right now, so that definitely put a damper on their relationship.

Raven nodded. “Well, maybe I’ll just have to get my a** handed to me so you’ll come pamper me again someday…I confess…I like this a lot.” She ate until the soup cup was empty, then took some of the medicine that Jett had brought her. It didn’t take long for her to grow very, very drowsy from some of the pills. She gave a great yawn then snuggled deeper into her pillows. “I’m going to pretty much pass out now…but…you can stay if you want to be a total creep and watch me sleep and everything. I wouldn’t mind if it was you doing it.”

The blonde gave Jett one last smile, then let her eyes close. Yeah. So he was a p***k sometimes…but he was her p***k. And he went so far out of his way, risking sickness to bring her things to make her feel better…there was nobody better. He was just…awesome.

When she got better, she’d stop flirting with everyone. Maybe. Then they could be the most perfect couple ever. And get married someday. Yeah. Well. Either that, or she’d forget most of this when she got better. Whatever worked!

“Night, Jett…”

Jett just shook his head. "Nah, you sleep, dork. I don't want to deal with your snoring. I'm gonna put the leftover food in the fridge. And there's a s**t ton of fruits, all right? Get your a** out of bed and eat some of them, it'll keep you from getting any worse. There's more soup," he picked up the bags still full of food and lifted them a bit so she could see, hooking them over one arm as he crawled out of her bed.

When he was out, he turned, pulled up the blanket to tuck her in, and gave her a little kiss on her forehead. "Feel better, sleep well. Give me a call to tell me how you're doing later," he said, though left it at that. He made his way across her room and shut off the light, closing the door behind him.

He felt comfortable enough in Raven's house to invite himself into her fridge, though perhaps wouldn't have been so bold if either of her parents appeared to be there at the time. Nestling the goods in plain sight where he stood up, brushed his hands on his pants, and promptly headed home to sanitize himself.
