"The good news is that he does not seem to be dangerous." Cosine listened to the gravel crunch under foot as they made their way through the town. They had decided to head for the temple and take their chances. There were two of them after all. And only one of -him-. Once they showed him up for the fraud he was his followers would hopefully see the light.
"The old man, Daiki. He said that he'd never used force on anyonw, though he does seem rather controling. Aparently people aren't allowed out on their own."

"Makes sense, when you think about it." Ankou had clearly been busy in his own way while Cosine had gone information-gathering - at least, that was what the impressive amount of dust on his black clothing made obvious. "The more closely they are kept, the easier he can keep an eye on them, and the less likely they are to discover something he doesn't want them to know."

Through they were about to throw one hell of a wrench in that particular plan, and he would be lying if he said that this fact did not please him. Still, he waited until they were out of earshot from the village before continuing. "So, what was your plan, again ? I just want to make sure im following. Dumb male, you know." He said, for the sole purpose of seeing her smile.

She did smile, giving him one of her wry looks at the same time. She did not know where he got this idea that he was dumb. She had always thought that he was anything but.
"Well, we pretend we want to join him." She replied, reaching out to catch his hand in hers. "Work our way in there and assess the situation. Then as you suggested, I will start trying to win people over to my side. Then perhaps try and get him on his own?"

He chuckled when she gave her that familiar look, and closed his fingers around her. Just a cute couple on a stroll, nothing to see here, move along.

At least they did fit the bill quite nicely.

"Hmm." That left him with little to do, but it was perhaps for the best. Then he could watch. Better safe than sorry, and all that, as much as Cosine seemed convinced that he was harmless. "It should be pretty easy for you to get his attention."

Cosine nodded. They were travelling further from the town now, along a path that once must have been flanked by trees and plants. it had probably been beautiful once.
"Yes, though I suppose I would feel better if you were there too though. I mean, this staff, that's yours. Maybe we could both get an audience with him?"

"Spear." He corrected without truly noticing that he had. Just because the clueless man used it like a staff did not mean it was one.

Honestly. Seesh. You'd think he'd have bothered to check what the fancy thing he was waving about actually was.

"Maybe. I figure that will depend on how... willing he'll be, once you caught his attention." Of course, he did plan to attend this little meeting... Seen or unseen was the question.

Cosine smiled at the correction ... spear, staff. Same difference. Not that she was going to voice that thought. Ankou was clearly rather sensitive about it. Spear, she would remember that she decided filing it away in her mind.

"I suppose it all depends really, on what happens. Just need to keep our pretense up. Though I am sure that won;t be easy once we get face to face with him. You have to try and keep your anger reigned in" She glanced up at him and gave his hand a light squeeze.

Well, that was the Spirit Guide for you. Horribly technical in certain points, and yet rather free-sprited and uncaring in others.

He let his eyes fall closed as he was reminded of his near-outburst, clearly the god wasn't exactly proud of it, even if he had felt perfectly warranted in the situation he had found itself in. No, it was the fact that he had nearly blown their cover than he was embarrassed of.

"I saw... Memories, when I saw Gungnir. They rushed in all at once. I..." He shook his head lightly, sending long black locks tossing as he opened his eyes again. "I know he has it now. I know what might happen, and what to steel myself against. This will not happen again."

He hoped. If it did, well... No, he preferred to think he had a better control of himself than that.

Cosine nodded in agreement. She had a rather even temper, though in truth it had never been pushed to its limit. It was enough to make her wonder what would happen when her patience reached its limit.
"I don't doubt it." she gave his hand a light squeeze and breathed in slightly as they rounded the corner and the temple came into view.

It was a large complex, a large torii gate towered above them as they walked further up the path it was made of carved stone and seemed to have escaped the ravages of gehenna. In the middle was a rather worn, almost un-readable symbol, a triangle with a crow in flight within. Cosine looked up and smiled a little. Perhaps to a mortal it would be impossible to make out, she could see it though, as clear as anything.
"Look, she said pausing to stare up at it. This is definitely the place."

Her touch was comforting, really, as was her support. Really, the whole thing was just... hard to explain. It was just strange, for him, to want something he had not even remembered the existence of so badly.

They arrived to the temple quickly enough, and Ankou also took the time to look at the surroundings. It was in a very good state, all things considered. "Yes... It reminds me of you." He said, softly, his voice kept to whisper, just in case there were people he hadn't noticed around. The architecture, the symbols... Yes, it all reminded him of her.

Cosine nodded, the triangle was an important symbol for her and these were not just triangles, they were Tetractys. A mystical symbol of a triangle arranged using ten dots, it represented the four elements and harmony. As they walked under the torii she could feel herself grow in confidence. Yes, this place was very heavily connected with her.

As the gravel path turned into flagstones they found themselves in a courtyard. the area seemed well tended, there were no weeds growing between the stones and though the paint was peeling from the buildings, they were not derelict. In the middle of the courtyard there was a wooden structure. Cosine released Ankou's hand and walked over to it. The feelings she had felt stronger there, if she closed her eyes she could hear people, the ghosts of the past, laughter. The structure had lots of small drawers, though faded she could just make out the numbers on them. Rows of numbers. On a shelf at waist height there was a hexagonal box. Cosine picked it up, something rattled inside.

"This all seems rather familiar." She said softly, shaking it. The sound triggered a memory, perhaps. The memory drove her to turn the hexagonal box upside down. She shook it carefully and a wooden stick started to slip out a hole in the bottom. Smiling, she took it and looked at the end. A number.

"You match the number to a drawer." The number was eight, she reached for drawer eight and opened it, there was nothing in there. "Then, inside here would be your fortune."

Yes, this definitively was hers. He could see it in her expressions, in the little reactions she had whenever she saw something and recognized it. So he kept himself silent as she took it all in, waited until he was talked to before he did answer.

"Fortunes ? That's very interesting." Numbers and fortune telling... He hadn't seen the connection before, through now that he thought about it, with how her powers manifested themselves... It made sense. Using numbers to predict what the goddess herself had created, maybe.

"It looks like it has gotten a lot of use..." In the past, or more recently ? Either way, both the cases and the box showed signs of wear. Gehenna's influence, or more natural use ? It was hard to tell.

Cosine nodded and turned the box over in her hands, investigating it with a smile. She felt as though she belonged here.

"Can I help you?" The voice was female and came from a pale young woman with long blonde hair braided down her back. She wore what must have been the robed that the once in habitants of the temple would have worn. Red Hakama and a white kimono top tied with a red obi.

The new, unknown voice did startle him - he tensed when the woman spoke, but relaxed soon afterward. Really, what was it with people being able to walk on him so easily ? He needed to be more attentive, really.

"Ah... Yes." Again, with the careful accenting of his voice. "We were are the village and we would... be interested to join, if your master would accept us."

Ugh. Well, he certainly had enough to go for from having Jinx, Anima, and Lenneth around, but this rankled.

The woman smiled and looked between the pair of them. They were certainly looking for new recruits.
"Pythagoras. He is our leader."

Cosine tried not to smirk and nodded with feigned interest. The woman sounded a bit spacey to her and she wondered if maybe they were into drugs or something.
"We'd like to speak to him. We heard that he is a god? Is this true?" Again, the smirk was had to stop. The whole situation was just so rediculous, it was hard not to laugh.

"Yes, yes, he is the incarnation of Number god of all. Follow me." The woman turned and started towards a large wooden building that would have been the main temple.

When her back was turned Cosine looked back ad Ankou and grinned.
'One goddess' She mouthed, clearly amused.
