The first thing that catches your eye is that the walls, floors, and ceiling are all made out of golden brown planks of wood that have been polished. It's very different from the other rooms, very earthy and home warming. The windows to her room are located near her bed and by her desk. Heavy green fabric curtains cover them to block out the light when she does not want the windows open. The next thing that gets your attention is that there is a fire pit in the middle of the room. Yes, a real fire pit, but the fire catches your attention and you point out that there is no smoke. The fire is a special, it's a magic fire. The fire only stays in the fire pit. It does not require wood for fuel. It gives the room a warm glow. Clare does cook meals over the fire and she has the necessary tools by the fire pit for her cooking needs. She's not shy about sharing a meal with friends. Don't be afraid to ask. There are benches around the fire pit for people to sit. The room stays at a nice comfortable temperature all year round.
You turn your head and notice some torches on the wall with the same magic fire. Her bed is in the darkest part of the room, but the wooden frame gives off a dull shine. The wooden frame is built similar to Viking-like style, the head posts are carved to look like a dragon's head and neck. The mattress resting on the wooden frame is balanced between soft and firm, but a little more to the soft side. There's a wooden chest that rests at the foot of her bed. The surface of it is carved with different pictures and designs. Clare stores things that are important to her in here. She keeps it locked and hides the key. There's a small wooden table with carved edges that sits near her bed. A pitcher of water and a few glass cups rest on the top. There is a fur rug that lies next to the bed and the fur is soft and a gray color with dark gray spots.
There's a bookshelf on part of the back wall and bends on the left corner to continue down about half way on the left wall. It's filled with books of different stories and wooden carvings. There are even some leather bound sketch books resting on the shelf. She has wooden carvings of different animals from her world, and one catches your attention when you look closely. You look closer at it, it's a wood carving of a black dragon. Its wings are stretched out to reveal the markings on the inside of the wings. Her forearms are her two beautiful wings and she has two hind legs with sharp claws. There are two horns that curl on her head and spines gather on her head, neck, part of her back, and tail. Her eyes are jewels and the wood is stained black except the markings on the inside of her wings and the tips of her spines. You wonder if this dragon exists, or if it's just a statue Clare carved up with the other strange looking animals.
There are hanging pictures on the wall in wooden frames. The picture frames are a darker wood color. The pictures show her friends from back home and some landscapes she drew. The pictures are hand drawn and are all in the same color, sanguine. Three pictures catch your eye, one is of that same dragon as the wood carving and there is a name under the picture that reads Iris, the other two are of two people...they look different to you. One is shorter with a thick beard and eye brows. His hair is long and pulled back in a braid. His clothes are different from what people here ware. He's a stocky build. He gives off a serious attitude. The name under the picture reads Relguard. The other picture of a person is next. He is a tall and slender man. His ears are pointed at the top. His hair goes down to the middle of his back. His hair is dark and has a few braids in it decorated with ribbon and small leaves and flowers. His clothes are dark colored, but you can't tell what the color is as the picture is one color. His clothing is strange to you too. His skin seems tan or golden. You're not sure. His he seems to give off a positive attitude with some confidence. The name under his picture reads Tollvar. There are plenty of other pictures of people that are unknown to you.
The last thing you notice is a small writing desk that sits between the window on the left wall and the bookshelf. A feather writing pen, the feather comes from a bird native to her world, and an ink jar sit next to a stack of parchment sheets. There is also another leather bound sketch book resting next to the parchment. A wooden stool rests under the small writing desk.
Clare can be found here when she is not on a mission or out in the other areas of Land of Departure. This is her second home away from home. She feels comfortable sharing her room with others and cooking with them and sharing stories with them. Don't be afraid to ask what she is having for dinner. You never know. You may end up falling in love with the local recipes from her world.
