Wolf stretched, his blue eyes shining brightly from his black and white form, life was rough, being an unpaired alpha wasn't easy.... his dominace was constantly challenged because of it but no had bested him yet. With a lazy bounce he brought himself to his all fours, his ears twitching with intent as he checked for any foreign sounds.

Wolf hadn't been alpha for long, their previous alpha having passed away shortly after his mate had been killed.... it was tragic, but the pack needed him to be strong, to lead them. There were ever changing scents upon the wind that he did not like... something was coming, but Wolf had no idea what it was. Yet! He would find out.

Venturing outside of his den he wondered which way he would wander today.

Wolf found himself strangely bored, that was probably why had was now running, enjoying the freedom of the breeze ruffling through his fur, the feel of his paws landing on the ground with a genttle patter. He made no attempt to mask his presence, all the birds and animals had already fled sencing the predator in him lurking... even if he wasn't out hunting.

He didn't have a clue were he was going, just that he felt an undenable urge to run. That was until a scent filled his nose. Rose! Impossible. He stopped instantly, his eyes wide... she was... dead. The pain at his lost kin rang out as he howled to the sky, a prayer for her soul.

Wolf had reacted the moment he had heard the heavy footfalls coming towards him, it was only because of the familar safe scent that he didn't snarl, growl and prepare to attack instantly. A blurr of reddy brown and white rushed towards him, only just swirling before it struck. He blinked, momentarily surprised as he turned to look at the last wolf he would ever had expected to see.... Rose. And from the look on her face she was pissed!

Of course his confusion only lasted a moment before he growled a little in his throat as walked towards her. Ignoring any protests she may give he circled her, eyes scanning her form as he looked for injuries. The scent of her roared into his nose, she was here, now! Real. And from the looks of things she was unharmed. Unable to resist he moved in an nipped her ear, just hard enough to be a warning! He didn't like that he hadn't known she was alive, it was the alpha's job to know everything, how else would he be able to protect them! He glared at her for a moment but his anger melted away with the relief that she was actually alive. "You scared me." He said it honestly, and filled with a strange feeling that he didn't recognise.

He rolled his eyes, but actually couldn't resist the smile that lifted his lips. He could tell that she had no idea what he was talking about, the surprise in her eyes when he had punished her was clear, "you wish." He said, before his eyes looked at her again. He really had thought her dead. His modd sombered as he asked her what he really wanted to know, "Where have you been? We thought you had...." He growled again, unable to bring forth the words of his fear. Afraid that by saying them he would doom them all.

He knew as alpha he needed to be strong. Needed to ensure that everyone around him felt safe and protected and believe that they could trust him to do the right thing for them. He also knew that it was his duty to give his pack enough room to grow and roam, but with the current unknown threat he didn't like that... not one bit.

Wolf wasn't completely satsified with her answer, like with all them there were too many holes... he supposed the only positive was that the death count had been reduced by one. But he was sure this was just the beginning. "That was foolish." He said, the dominace evident in his voice. He didn't like the idea that she had followed the beast that had done this! Still, he was glad she was safe. "Don't do it again." There was less conviction in that statment than earlier. He sighed, what would the pack do? If these killings and attacks continued they were going to be in a lot of trouble very quickly!

Wolf spun around, his tail swaying from side to side. He knew she was right, and he was planning to find out what the beast was! To find a way to protect them! It just wasn't that easy; Wolf wasn't afraid to die, he had been the first on the scene after the last attacks, had seen the deversation, but he had had a choice.... protect what remained and then hunt, or hunt and possibly lose everything! It was about priorities, but he knew not everyone felt the same as he did.

Lurking back to her he glowered at her, he had always liked Rose, and she was probably the only pack mate who he would let talk to him like this; "Of course I do! But have you thought about what would happen to the cubs we already have? About the females and the omega's should the beast find them? My priority was to keep them safe. To keep everyone safe. Once I was satisfied with that I was... I am...." His voice was flooded with his conviction, "...going to hunt down the son of a b***h that did this!"

Wolf didn't like that idea, not just because she was pack... but because.... he couldn't stand the thought of losing her, it had nearly broken him once... that howl had demonstrated that, but it wasn't until after he had lost her that he realised it. "No." He said the word before he had realised he even meant to.

Then realising how selfish he was being he turned away from her, he needed to think. They needed the information she offered.... but he didn't want to risk another pack mate, not after the deverstation that had already fell upon them... and even if she claimed it would help that he had believed her to dead he knew otherwise, now that he knew her to be alive he wouldn't forget that it was him sending her to her possible death. Maybe he should let her... of all the pack Rose was probably nearly as dominate as he was, though she showed it in a different way, she had intelligence behind her eyes... and had made it this far on her own!

He turned on her again, lurking closer and closer to her until he was practically nose to nose with her, he didn't expect her to flinch... after all she always seemed to accept his dominace by choice rather than the wolf within her feeling smaller than him. "How will you keep yourself safe?" He wanted facts before he considered it properly.
