As the sun beat down on her dark fur, Fisidi snarled in frustration. It was a particularly unforgiving day in the desert, with the sun high in the sky and not a drop of water to be found. For the Firekin, this was a typical day, certainly nothing to get worked up about. It was something else that was bothering the black Firekin.
"I can't believe this!" She spat, despite the fact that no one was around to hear her discontent. Word had reached her that there had been an attack on the Firekin, yet here she was, pacing up and down the same stretch of sand. If she could help them, of course she would. Sadly though, she was a Huria, and so had been forced to leave the Pride once she was old enough to take care of herself.
Although Fisidi had been informed of her fate from an early age, she felt that a great injustice had been done to her. She had worked extremely hard growing up in an effort to get the rules change and prove herself worthy enough to stay. Despite that, she was still kicked out with her green sister Yuna, who she was unfortunately separated from not long after.
Since then, the black and blue lioness had remained alone, stalking the desert in the hopes that one day she would be allowed to return. In her heart, she was still a Firekin, and the colour of her fur didn't change that one bit. Not far from where the Firekin female was pacing, a pair of turquoise eyes watched her intently. They belonged to Chinjo, a Stormborn Reaver who had travelled extremely far away from home as part of his training. As she moved from left to right in obvious frustration, the orange and navy male couldn't help but marvel at the size of her. He came from a warrior pride of sorts himself, and he had never seen a female as big and muscular as that. She was almost as big as him, and he was above the average size for a Myrsky Syntynyt male.
Not wishing to give away his position, or startle her for that matter, Chinjo moved quietly and carefully around the rock that he had chosen to spy on her from behind. As soon as he had arrived in this desert, he started to hear tell of a great Pride called the Motoujamii-Simo, or 'Firekin'. Although he rarely trusted the words of lowly creatures such as vultures and snakes, all of them seemed to have very similar information in regards to the Firekin, so perhaps there was some truth to what they were saying.
Based on that information, Chinjo was quite sure that he had found one in this female. Although, her colours were very unusual, as Firekin were supposedly all red, black and white. Frowning deeply, he lowered his body as he considered all that he had learnt, before making his next move.

She really hoped she was still in time!
She had heard that one of her huria sisters was still lingering just beyond the boarder of the firekin's territory, and had dropped what she was doing to rush across the pride's land and across the boarder. Her long, loping stride was a little less energetic these days, the water shortage the pride had been suffering for the last few months had taken its toll on the soldier and her once vibrant coat was dull and coarse.
With the pride's future uncertain, Kuza was desperate to see her sister one last time before Fisidi left forever, and hopefully, found a land where water flowed deep and pure and the lions lived strong, proud lives. She had never truly been that close to some of her siblings, considering there had been 13 of them, but now as an adult she regretted not at least speaking to her two sisters before they had left for the land beyond the firekin's boarders.
Finally she spotted the dark shape tat was her sister and increased her speed, racing across the sand with the sure-footed grace only a firekin could manage. Dropping down to a jog and then a walk as she grew close she halted a few paces from her sister, ears pricked and expression almost nervous. "Fisidi?

Fisidi didn't actually notice the approaching female until she was quite close, which was strange for her as she was usually very alert and aware of all her surroundings. When she did finally spot the approaching red figure, her hot pink eyes narrowed as she attempted to make out who it was.
That bright red pelt, those black paws, and those wonderful burning orange and yellow markings. It was one of her sisters, although it had been such a long time, she had to think for a moment about who all those features belonged to.
When the female reached her and spoke her name, Fisidi's expression softened ever so slightly. "Oh, it's you Kuza." She said, in a rather matter of fact tone of voice. Despite being Hurias, she and her green sister had been raised just as well as their siblings. They had actually been taught more, as they would only have themselves to rely upon once they were cast out.
As she considered this, her frown returned. "I heard about the attack on one of our outposts. Is everyone alright?" Her frown deepened. Why did she still use the word 'our'? Why did she still consider herself a Firekin when the Pride's actions showed that they didn't? It was all just so frustrating.Chinjo actually spotted the approaching red figure before the black and blue female did. This new female was just as well built as the first one, but she matched the colour theme that he had been told about. So it seemed that both of them were Firekin, meaning he would have to stay well hidden for the time being. He was sure he could defeat one of them, but he wasn't sure that he could beat two. Not if they attacked him together anyway.
Although Chinjo was the type to attack first in order to get the upper paw, he was no fool. For now, he thought it best to just stay hidden and listen to what was being said. At the mention of the attack, he raised a brow. Perhaps the Firekin were not as powerful as their reputation would have others believe, if someone had attacked them. Still, he was sure he would learn more as the conversation proceeded.

A warm if slightly sad-tinged smile curled the red lioness' lips at her sister's words, but she couldn't help pacing forwards and rubbing her cheek against her sibling's shoulder. It was too little, too late she knew, but she loved her family even if she hadn't been the best daughter or sister in the pride... and she wanted Fisidi to know she was at least loved before she left for good.
Mention of the attack made her lower her ears. "One of the pride was killed, they think it was the Nergui that did it. But we aren't moving against them yet, the Legate is leading a small party of warriors to claim a near by water source in the Ithambo'hlabathi. I'm not sure how that's gone... but the plan is to strengthen the pride before we go to war." She sighed softly. "This drought has been hard... I almost think you will be better off away from the pride Fisidi... some of the firekin have left of their own accord, to lessen the strain on what water there is left." She gave her sister worried eyes, hoping she would be alright out beyond the pride's borders.
Had she known a rogue male was close by, she wouldn't have said anything at all, but it was unheard of for a rogue to linger this close tot he pride unless they were challenging to join.

Fisidi did very little to return the show of affection that her sister had offered her. Of course she didn't blame her siblings for what happened, but at the same time, she couldn't help but feel envious of their Firekin coats. Why did she have to be the unlucky one? And why was all her hard work and effort in order to change the Pride's mind about her not good enough?
These were questions that she asked herself almost constantly, but for now they would have to wait. It's not as if Kuza would have the answers anyway. "Someone was killed?" The attack must've been much more serious than she had been informed. Her eyes fell to the ground. Whoever was responsible would surely pay. Not that she would be around to see it. "As long as you and the rest of the family are safe, that's all that matters." She said finally, her gaze returning to Kuza.
At the mention of the drought, the black lioness raised a brow. "The desert is all I have ever known Kuza. If things are so 'hard', why are you still here?" A low growl radiated in her throat. "Do you think I'm not strong enough? Is that why you think I should leave?"So the two females were related? He never would've guessed it, considering how different they were in colour. The black and blue female named Fisidi mentioned their family, and since they looked of a similiar age, he assumed that they must be sisters. Perhaps the black female's unusual coat was the reason that he had found her here in the border, rather than within Firekin territory. Judging by the things she said and the way in which she said them, she clearly wasn't happy with her lot in life.
Chinjo smirked. As soon as he had heard the red female's response, he would reveal himself. It was a risk of course, but despite the fact that he hadn't been listening for very long, he felt as though he knew enough to make the one named Fisidi an offer.

Kuza understood her sister's restraint, and knew she would be every bit as angry at the pride had it been she born huria. She certainly didn't blame Fisidi for her bitterness and only wished there had been a way to keep her int he pride, but Kuza was a lowly Soldier and had no clue how such a thing might be done.
Nodding she answered. "The family is safe, it was Nur’yu, son of Khin'del who passed away." She hadn't know the deceased personally, but everyone knew of him.. considering what had happened. Tilting her head at her sister's cutting words she shook it. "You know that is not what I meant. But you are my sister. If the drought doesn't get us, there is a war with the Nergui coming. To know two of my sisters are at least safe from them, it is a relief." She smiled softly, though it was sad. "It is you who are the strong one, Fisidi, I am not leaving because I can not. I am too scared to do so, for how would I survive?" Indeed, her gaze held respect for her sister who was going to go out into the unknown and make it hers. For Kuza was certain her sister would find a new home and live as a firekin should. Strong, independent, ferocious.

"Hm." A simple sigh of acknowledge was all she could give upon hearing the name of the one who had died. She couldn't recall either of those names, but then, she was mostly kept away from the rest of the Pride. She was sad for the Pride as a whole, as opposed to one individual. Still, as she had already said, it was her family that matter above all else. Hopefully they would remain safe during this war that seemed to be looming over the horizon.
As Kuza went on, Fisidi was actually a little taken aback by her honesty. Firekin were not known for being weak, but that didn't mean that they didn't sometimes feel scared or unsure of themselves. She had never really allowed herself to consider that frame of mind, as for a Huria, life was destined to be difficult from birth. That was why they were trained and prepared for the future. It never really occured to her that the Firekin who weren'ty 'unlucky' enough to be Hurias may actually feel ill prepared when faced with the thought of leaving the desert.
Without giving it a moment's though, the black and blue Firekin moved to nuzzle her sister, although it wasn't long before she pulled herself away again. "I...never really thought of it that way." She said finally, a somewhat saddened expression now gracing her face, softening her stony glare. Fisidi didn't really know what else to say after that.As much as Chinjo would've liked to have remained hidden in order to gather more information, he felt as though the sisters were having a bit of an emotional breakthrough. The last thing he needed was for two emotionally charged female Firekin to attack him before hearing him out. Now was the time to act.
"Greetings." As he moved from his position behind the large rock, he was careful not to step too far away from it. He might need to launch himself from it if things didn't go according to plan. "I couldn't help but overhear your current situation." His turquoise eyes were fixed on Fisidi. "If you would be willing to hear me out, I could offer you a place in a Pride that shares quite a few similarites to the Firekin." His eyes then turned to Kuza. "Both of you, if you would like."

Kuza watched as thoughts and emotions chased themselves across her sibling's features before she suddenly moved forwards and pressed dark fur to Kuza's own red pelt. The touch, brief though it was, healed something in Kuza she hadn't realised was broken. Even though her sister would be living apart from her.. she felt that now.. they could at least part on good terms and maybe one day, if they were lucky, they would find each other again, somewhere. Allowing a small, emotional smile to twitch across her muzzle she knew no words could express all she felt, but she also knew they didn't need to. Her sister understood as only siblings can and Kuza was content with that. And anyway, it was not the Firekin way to make ones own emotions obvious in speech, better they be acknowledged silently.
Nodding she smiled at her sister, the more familiar, cocky grin of a true firekin. But suddenly the wind shifted just as a deep, strange voice called out. With a defensive snarl she sun round and planted herself right beside her sister, head down and lips wrinkled back to show off her rather impressive, glistening white fangs. her ears pressed back against her head, not so much because a stranger had come to the boarder, for that hapened often enough when they challenged to join the pride, but because he had heard a conversation that had been intensely private, and as hard as it had been to speak so with her sister, the thought that some random male had listened in on them made her coat prickle.
"Who are you. Why are you here." Her growl was hard and demanding, but while she was obviously defensive and more than ready to fight, there was no wildness to her, she was in full and total control despite the emotional talk with her sister.

Although Fisidi didn't know it, she felt completely the same way as Kuza did on the inside. Although she had always felt hurt by her exile from the Pride, she was completely unaware of how deep that hurt ran. She also didn't think that it was something that could ever be truely healed. Although she would always feel anger and sorrow in regards to what had happened, at the same time, she would now feel something a little more positive whenever she thought about it. And she had Kuza to thank for that. Not that she would ever put all that into words.
Returning her sister's cocky grin, she was about to bid her farewell when a strange, deep voice reached her ears. Just as swiftly as her sister had reacted, Fisidi herself lowered her body in preperation, just incase she needed to pounce. Growling and snapping her jaws viciously, she glared at the intruding male. "There is no Pride quite like the Firekin, so there is nothing you could possibly offer me."Chinjo had expected a reaction such as this, yet it didn't make it any less amusing to him. Fight first, ask questions later was a trait that a lot of Myrsky Syntynyt shared. Much too powerful and worthy to be made Thralls, these females would both make for perfect Reavers. "I'm afraid I have to disagree." He replied cooly, in answer to the one named Fisidi.
He then turned to the one named Kuza, before lifting a paw and placing it against his chest whilst bowing his head. "My name is Chinjo, and I hail from the Myrsky Syntynyt Pride, otherwise known as the Stormborn." He grinned. "We are Children of the Gods, which makes us strong, and more than capable of taking anything we please. We are both respected and feared by all those who know of us." As he spoke, a small glint touched her turquoise eyes. "Doesn't that sound familiar to you?" Although he was talking to both females, he was looking mainly at the black one as he spoke. As much as she wished to be a Firekin, she was nothing more than a Rogue, and so he was positive that he could recruit her.

Yellow eyes narrowed as the stranger addressed them, talking as if he knew anything about the firekin. Prickling at his assumptions and the assessing look he gave both her and her sister, she allowed the growl that had been rumbling in her chest to increase in volume, a low, angry, warning sound.
"Don't boast of things you have yet to accomplish." She snapped angrily, insulted by his off handed remark that he could single-handedly take anything the firekins possessed, and from the way he was looking at her, that included herself. Feeling her claws flex in the deep sand, shoulder muscles bunching, she narrowed her gaze at him, far from impressed by his claim. "You would have no chance against us." She hissed, knowing that even though her sister had been born hurai, the dark-furred female was still Firekin and Kuza trusted her at her side if a fight were to break out.
Lips lifted over bared fangs, Kuza was not lost to her temper, but was watching him closely, suspicion written in every line of her body. Yet even as she tensed, waiting for an attack, the conversation she had just shared with her sister echoed through her thoughts. Fisidi couldn't stay out here, in the sun-blasted desert with precious little water and few prey animals. As Kuza had confessed, she herself had considered leaving in order that their pride would survive, but had not the strength to face the unknown beyond the pridelands.
For her sister's sake only, she forced down the urge to chase this cocky, irritating stranger from her desert and flicked a glance at Fisidi.

Fisidi blinked as she felt her muscles relaxing ever so slightly. Could any rogue male really be so wreckless as to approach not one but two Firekin females in such a way? Surely not, which meant that there may have been some truth in what he was saying. Still, she didn't like his attitude, and she didn't trust him.
Despite all that, she found herself intrigued, albeit slightly. "I suppose." The black female replied in a somewhat less aggressive tone of voice. The male named Chinjo hadn't said much, but it was obvious that he was offering her an alternative to the Firekin. Maybe that would be better than wandering the desert?
She turned to Kuza, looking towards her sister for an opinion, although her expression hard to read. "There's...nothing here for me Kuza. Not anymore." Of course, she didn't mean that literally. She had her family, but what use was that if she could hardly ever see them? She may as well not be there at all.Chinjo remained calm as the red sister continued to hiss and snap at him. "I don't boast. I simply state facts. Do you really think that I would risk approaching you without good cause?" He smirked. "You give me too little credit." He was pushing it, he knew, but with good reason. The black and blue sister had not spoken at that point. He was sure now that he had her.
When the one named Fisidi did speak up, Chinjo's eyes flashed darkly. There was nothing for her here? Well, that settled it. "I could offer you a place amongst the Stormborn. The chance to rise through the ranks, to become a Captain with an army underneath her paws. Can the Firekin offer you that?"
With that, the orange male turned and started walking away. Another risky but calculated move. "I'll give you a chance to say your goodbyes." So confident was he at this point that she would join him that he started heading off in the direction.

Meeting her sister's glance she allowed that tiny flicker of a smile to curl across her muzzle again. She knew what her sister had said, and also what she hadn't. They had formed a bond, these past few fleeting minutes, that should have been there from the start. But Kuza was realistic, she would miss her sister terribly, but the law of the hurai was almost unbreakable. Fisidi could not stay here, lingering on the boarder, it was not the life Kuza would wish for her at all.
Ignoring the irritating male as he turned and left, she shifted to face her sister, but waited until the intruder was long out of ear shot before speaking. "As much as I hate that particular male..." She lifted her lips at the very thought of the cocky, presumptuous, over bearing male. "... the pride he speaks of does sound like a worthwhile place. Even if only to visit.... " She was not about to tell her sister what to do... but she wanted Fisidi to know that she thought the idea had merit at the very least. It was just a shame such a lion as that male had to be the one to tell them.... Even Kuza was curious about this 'stormborn' land... though if it had been her about to go out into the unknown beyond her birth pride, she sure as hell wouldn't do it at that male's side... It would be easy enough to follow at a distance, their sense of smell was excellent and the firekin boasted some of the best trackers in living memory!

When her sister turned to face her, Fisidi hesitated in her next action. She soon gave in though, and moved to nuzzle her sister firmly into her cheek. There was no weakness involved in showing affection to one's own family. "Tell the others that I'll be alright." She smirked. "And if this arrogant male can make it all the way out here, I'm sure I'll be able to come back and visit sometime."
The black and blue female then took a step back. Was now really the best time to be leaving the desert? With the recent outpost attack, and war looming on the horizon? Yes, it was. After all, what could she do to help them if they weren't willing to let her back in? "Farewell Kuza." With that, she quickly turned on her heels and quickly moved to join the male. That goodbye had been more painful than she could've imagined, so now she really didn't want to linger.Chinjo grinned widely, his chest almost puffing out with pride. He had acquired a Firekin. Not as a thrall, which is something many would probably dream of, but as an ally. One who he was sure could become a Reaver like him, and then after that, who knew? It was a strange thing to consider, as he was planning on becoming a Captain someday himself. Fisidi could end up being his rival, but he didn't care. No Reaver had ever returned from their viking with such a prize.
When she moved to join him at his side, he bowed his head graciously. "Fisisi, I can tell that you and I are going to be good friends. Come, we have a long way to go, but I have much to tell you." With that, the pair started walking, side by side, until they disappeared on the horizon.(( Finished! ))
