Well... this was an unfortunate turn of events.... That's what the lioness thought to herself as she found herself tangled in the vines of the jungle that no longer looked fine to paw through. She, once again, had reminded herself why she preferred the grasslands and plains over these dense death traps.

"Well... things could be worse, I suppose..." she grumbled to the open air, glancing this way and that, trying to suss out exactly which direction would be easiest to bite and claw and push her way through. It was times like these she was thankful that she was a lioness rather than a male lion, as her fur was short and she had no long mane to snag.

....Unfortunately her tail hairs had gotten caught more than a few times on prickly leaves and vines, and despite her thick hide and fur, she had gotten more than a few scrapes and scratches as she ambled her way - terribly slowly - through the underbrush and tangles of thick foliage.

"....I'm slowly starting to hate jungles..." she hissed, at this point, just wondering which way was out. "I never want to live in a jungle.. at least I've figured out that much.."

Drakma stumbled through the underbrush, still grumbling to himself about his latest run in with a leopardess. She had been a feisty one, and rather annoying if he said so. Which - he did - and with quite a bit of ease. Thinking back on her dark coated fur gleaming in the moonlight, he spat his hatred out onto the ground. A low rumble rose in his throat, and escaped in one loud roar. He was alone right? Roaring wasn't going to hurt anyone, at least not anyone he gave a darn about.

Shaking himself free of his frustrations he set his eye sight to the path ahead of him, noticing something dark up ahead. He wasn't quite sure of exactly what it was but investigation was definitely on the menu. As he picked up his pace, his eyes began to adjust and he realized it was a lioness. And a mad one at that.

Slowing his pace, and not trying to draw attention to himself right away, he inspected her from behind noting all of the places she seemed to be entangled and letting out a silent laugh to himself.

"Well I don't think that's very nice. It's not like it's the jungles fault you're all tangled up...." He boasted with a smirk across his face. Still behind her, he sat quietly on his haunches and waited for the female to respond.

Kai whipped her head around as fast as he could when she heard the sound of a roar, wondering where it had come from. It sounded like a lion, and he wasn't in the mood to deal with any advances. She hadn't smelled anyone, so - literally - entangled that she was with the vines and undergrowth. This was a bad situation to be in if someone came upon her that meant her harm... and the roar, and then not long after, a voice, had come from behind her, without a doubt.

She had struggled as she heard the male lion approach, but still to no avail, she was too entangled. Damn these vines, damn this jungle, damn the whole world!! She growled in her frustration, blue eyes trained on what she could see of the male behind her. Kai twisted defensively to try and face the other, but she barely made half a turn, the foliage ensnaring her doing too well a job of keeping her mostly bound.

This situation had potentially gone from bad to the worst possible... "I'd have to disagree..." she hissed out, not at all in a mood to be teased.

Taken aback at her comment, Drakma was unaware of the confusion plastered all over his face. "Oh? Are you trying to tell me that the jungle intentionally drug you from somewhere else and entangled you here? He tilted his head in sincere confusion. Why on Earth would she disagree that it wasn't the jungles fault she was entangled? "If that truly is the case, I suppose my next question would be, what on Earth did you do to receive such a nuisance of a punishment?" He grimaced as he took a closer look at her entanglement. He had noticed just how tangled she was, but hadn't taken notice to her wounds. He despised cuts and abrasions, almost as much as he did leopardesses. Stung like hell they did!

Sitting in silence he waited long and hard for the female to respond. Curious as to whether she would take his remarks seriously - or for the sarcasm they truly were. There really was no way to tell, lionesses tended to be unpredictable. Finally clearing his throat he responded with a more serious tone. "In all seriousness though, how on Earth did you end up in this .... mess?" He asked disgust all over his face. "The jungle isn't all that hard to traverse...."

She hesitated to answer him. This lion was amused at her situation, and that did nothing to ease her own anger. How dare he! It was if she could sense the laughter just under the surface waiting to bubble out of the male. Her hackles raised in irritation, though she couldn't have attacked if she wanted to, given her situation.

"It is when running. And at night." she huffed defensively, scowling and growling at the same instant. "But I suppose it's easy to act superior when you're not in the same situation.." Her words were accompanied by a growl.

It was noon already in the jungle but it still appeared as dark as twilight due to the density of the growth above and around them. She had been stuck since the night before, and she was both tired and hungry, with nothing to show for her efforts to free herself but a scratched up and bloodied coat. She took pride in her sleek single toned pelt, and felt somewhat ashamed that she had been found in such a state, unable to help herself.

"These vines are thicker and tougher than they appear..." She trailed off with a hiss that wanted to turn into a whine, but the sound was cut off as she bit into a thick vine, trying to free a back leg.

"Hah superior? I don't think you know the meaning of the word. If I were superior than you, i'd simply laugh at your misfortune and turn to be on my way. Now if such were the case, can you explain to me why I still remain?" He watched with blank eyes as the female struggled with her entrapment. He could easily help her, and gladly would, but her attitude had to change. He was absolutely not going to have any part in helping someone who would return his kindness with hate.

"Yes, those vines are quite tough...." He trailed off, leaning over to watch as the lioness tugged and gnawed at the vines. His nose shriveled in disgust as he caught wind of the stale metallic scent of blood. Yes, his statement remained true, he could simply leave. With little to issue given the lioness' attitude. But something about her misfortune urged him to stay, hoping that she would indeed change her attitude.

"I wouldn't advise you to do much more tugging and pulling. From the looks of these vines, you've been tugging for quite some time. The vines are tightly bound, and the more you pull, the tighter it gets..." Looking up at the lioness, he warned her silently with his eyes, that he wasn't trying to be distasteful and stood to bend closer to her hind legs for a closer look.

The vines were covered in dry blood, and new blood trickling the more she moved. He felt slightly woozy, but not enough to back away. "Exactly how long have you been stuck like this?" He mumbled, following the vines as they twisted from her legs to the ground and trees around them. There had to be a central knot somewhere, that if loosened would allow her to go free. For now, if he just kept her talking, perhaps the pain she was obviously in wouldn't trouble her as much.

Kai stared back at the male as he spoke, trying to think of a reply, willing herself to say something that wouldn't come out through clenched teeth, or as a growl. She needed help, she needed his help as he was likely the only living thing she had seen in hours, and was likely to see for days, considering the location.

She hated this. She hated her weakness, the shame at having someone come upon her in this state, the fact that she ended up this way to begin with. It was hard to fight back the tears that she felt rise to her eyes. How exactly had she ended up this way again? It seemed like an eternity that she'd been stuck.

The wounded lioness sniffed, trying to hold back tears and revulsion both at the subjugated state she had been forced into by her own recklessness. She had to ask for help, she needed to. But it was so hard.. and she didn't know how....

"Hours... I'm not sure exactly how long... I've been stuck since at least high moon last night, and it must be midday by now." She swallowed thickly. She was so thirsty she was almost to the point of wanting to lick off her own blood to regain some needed hydration.

Drakma was completely irritated by her lack of social skills. Here she was completely trapped, unable to help herself, and she didn't even have the audacity to speak up about it! Rolling his eyes, he looked her in the eyes, intent on letting her know he was not happy. "You might want to be still, or this will hurt worse than it already will..." He then nodded his head in her direction and went back to searching for that knot.

It didn't take long before he found one, it was small but still capable of being a problem. Bracing his paw to one end, he leaned in and took hold of the thorny vine with the other. As he chewed, he could feel the vines digging into her skin, and he cringed. He didn't intend to hurt her, but it was unavoidable. "Juft a ritter vit more.." He gritted through his teeth, taking one final bite and then relaxing.

"There. You're free." He paused a moment before raising his head back to meet hers. "Asking for help doesn't hurt you know." He growled, turning his back on her, and preparing to storm off. "You might want to be careful with those thorns. You may be free, but you're still bound pretty deep.

Good luck!"
He yelled, throwing back his mane and preparing for whatever the lioness might shout back at him.

Despite the intensity in the stare down that she received, she didn't bow her head or submit. Kailyana was just not that sort of lioness, even when cornered or trapped. "I'm sure it will hurt anyway..." She mumbled and braced herself for the pain she knew was sure to come as the lion lowered his head to the vines binding her.

Kai winced as the lion suddenly bit into the bonds the vines had made themselves into and began to chew, intent on freeing her. Honestly she hadn't expected his help so quickly, or without her asking. It was just so hard to work up the courage to do so, for whatever reason. Asking for assistance was simply something she was still terrible at accomplishing. Frankly, she was relieved, despite the abrupt pain from the thorns cutting into her flesh. Unwillingly, a whimper of pain escaped her, just as the vines were cut by the other lion's teeth.

As he backed away, she breathed a sigh of relief even as her hide throbbed in various places from the wounds that had been inflicted upon her by her own lack of caution. She shifted, careful of the vines and thorns still around her, looking carefully for the best way out, and lept free of the mess that had held her fixed for hours, looking after the lion who had freed her. She didn't even know his name...

"Thank you..." Though she wasn't sure she said it loud enough for him to hear, still she felt she needed to say it, and even wanted to, although it was difficult to force the words past her lips. This lion walking away might have saved her life.

He was irritated, BEYOND irritated at the lioness' audacity! He had saved her life, and he damn well knew it, but she hadn't even been able to muster the courage to request his help. Who would actually do something like that? Allow themselves to die, rather than be saved all due to a small matter of pride?

Well obviously he had just met someone who was willing to do that, but that wasn't the point. She should never have been so proud, arrogance was such a stupid emotion.

Ruffling his mane in frustration a low growl formed in his throat, ending in yet another loud, rumbling roar. The roar left his body shivering with excitement, and he simply continued his journey. Never once hearing the nearly silent thank you the lioness had given him.

In his heart of hearts, he would just have to believe that she had been grateful.
