It had taken him a moment, but he was able to sneak away from his mothers watchful eye, for what he hoped was for a few hours at least. He hated that she was like a hawk and never let them alone for five minutes. He wouldn't mind it so much much if she would let them have a little space to wander around, instead he had to resort to sneaking away, which was fine. He was able to breathe at least now. He was sure that when she noticed he was, once again, gone that she would come after him in a quick hurry. Until then, he was going to enjoy what little freedom he could the best that he could, which of course was exploring and dominating all he came across. The dark cub padded through the belly high grass and came to a halt underneath the shade of a rather large bonzi tree. His orange gaze flicked to and fro as he searched around for anyone who might be nearby. Tiny mouth opened as he let loose a yawn, his tiny white teeth clicking when he closed it once more. He twitched his ears back and flicked his tail as he thought he might have heard or saw movement in the taller grasses before him. Crouching low he tensed himself, ready to attack and then leaped forward into the tall grasses, his tiny body streching long, paws outstreached ready to tackle whatever it might be that he heard, if it was anything at all. This, of course, could be very foolish for one so young, but he cared not for the dangers that could be and are, all he knows is he heard something and was going to show whatever it was that he was ready at a moments notice.

Green Ever After Koios was right on the cubs tail, stalking and watching him like walking meat. The two had recently befriended one another and the white cub was grateful, the other cub had given him a boost of confidence he had not yet earned and that boost was all he needed for the next stage of his rather unthought out plan of action. One paw at a time, grass blades were swaying now and his tail twitched uncontrollably. Koios felt himself tense up, it almost seemed unnatural, but he willed it to keep going and sought after the looks of triumph the hunters got when they came home. He enjoyed the sense of pride they seemed to radiate upon arriving home and though he would not devour Areo, he wanted to startle him.
Once in position he lowered his front half, his eyes were glued to the still cubs back and he let loose a wicked butt wiggle of excitement, all this, just before leaping up at the defenseless black feline with a rather entertaining attempt at a roar.
"Hello Areo!" He bellowed upon collapsing in the mess of fur he created.
His mind was so focused on what was before him in the grass he had neglected to secure his rear so to speak. As he prepared for his leaping pounce, he was pounced instead and greeting with a friendly hello just before impact so it smoothed out his instinct to claw out. Needless to say, he did jump a little. There were paws and limbs and tails everywhere and he rolled with the weight of the other and somehow managed to scramble out of the bundle of fur and he stood up shaking himself. He pounced back at the male and give a friendly smile. "You shouldn't startle me like that! Though, that was pretty good." He gave the cub some encouragment, not many could get him like that and he didn't want him to feel like he had just done something wrong.
He nomed (think nom nom nom) on Koios ear and pushed all of his weight on him before pouncing off of him and into the grass. He was in a rather playful mood at the moment. Normally he was all adventure and no play, but he actually wanted to play a tad for the moment. He just realized something, he had never asked if Koios had siblings. "What brought you out this way today?"
Green Ever After The leap, the air, the landing! Koios was absolutely caught up in the excitement of what had occurred and he gave a playful snarl as the other complimented him. "I know." He said with a teasing grin and a matter of fact tone. "You ought to watch your back more though." The young white cub was studious on hunting and guardsmanship. He had not learned everything, but that was something that had been talked about that his cub mind could comprehend. It didn't help that he only heard half of it, being he was not of age to be there and had hid. His sneak ability was growing quite vastly as he grew to know the lands a bit better and to know Areo a bit better. The mischevious pair would certainly be up to no good well into their adolescent days. Then Koios was chewed from his thoughts as his ear became the target of nibbling. He laughed, which was more of a giggle, and pushed at Areo's chest. "Cmooon, let me up!" He whined. It was shortly after that that the darker cub had leaped from his chest and Koios was capable of getting up.
"Bored, absolutely bored." The cub stated this in a plain voice and let his rump hit the ground in a dramatic manner. "What about you? Any big adventures? Any tricks, traps or ruses to be pulled?" Koios looked at Areo with interest, big green eyes seeking that trickster sparkle in his partners orange orbs. He, himself, had some ideas he'd be interested in sharing, but all in due time. Besides, Areo always seemed to have something up his 'sleeve'.
He waved a paw at the youngster at his comment of him needing to watch his back. "That's why I have you!" He said with a sharp grin and a toss of his head. So Koios was bored. What could be done about that? Now the the two of them were together what could be done about resolving this conflict of boredomness. He flicked his ears and gave him a sly grin and a mischevious look. He had seen a nest of ostrich eggs not too far from here. If they were lucky the parents weren't around. "Wanna go get some ostrich eggs?" He knew how to get them open if they were able to obtain one, it was hard stuff, being that their shell was just about unbreakable. But there was a trick to it. Heavy rocks. His tail whipped back and forth as he pounced the young cub once more and pounced away a few feet. "I don't think I ever asked before, but do you have any siblings?"
Green Ever After "Fair enough." He let his tail thump the ground as he comes to accept these terms mentally, he would certainly have to be on his guard now. The silence between the pair triggered his movement again. Koios found himself standing and stretching almost unnecessarily and than dropping his rump once more. He could almost see Areo's brain creating, plotting and twisting. He waited eagerly for the ideas that would be thrown out there and was almost disappointed by the voice and what it had said. "Ostrich eggs?" He asked curiously. He had never heard or seen such a thing, it sounded strange and he assumed that an egg was an egg. What could be so special about an egg to name it so proudly.
"What do we do with these eggs?" He asked, distracted by his thoughts, he knew of small eggs and as far as he knew getting them was not all to difficult. "Yes .." He stated, it really ahdn't occurred to him that neither of them had really spoken of family, beyond their mothers. "I have some siblings, but I rather be out adventuring and seeing new things. They mostly stay close to our parents." Koios spoke smoothly, truth was, he never played iwth them ever. Even given the chance to explore with them he would dip and seek something different. Playing with them seemed to be repeatative and Koios could not enjoy that. "Soooo... the ostrich eggs?" He inquired again.
He could feel the sound of disappointment almost raidiat off of his alabaster friend. He realized then why that was. These were no mear eggs and Koios was about to find out. "They aren't like the usual eggs you're thinking of." He said proudly as he began to walk into the tall grasses leading towards a nest he had seen on his way out here. "I know that feeling." He was the more adventurous of his siblings it seemed, though he was sure if given the chance they would be up to par with him. No matter, he had Koios.
"So you've never seen an ostrich egg?" Boy was koios in for a surprise. "I know you sound unsure, but let me tell you. This isn't going to be easy." He said with a wicked grin as he disappeared into some bushes towards a sandy part of the pridelands.
Green Ever After Trust infilled the cub, though Areo left majority of his description as a mystery. Koios didn't mind this, he found himself already wrapped into the ideas of this plan even if he could not muster up an image of what the heck they would do. "Are they bigger, or smaller? What color are they? What's an ostrich like? Are they mean!?" He spewed out questions left and right, blabbering on with an interested and perked up attitude. There was certainly nothing better than to find something new and exciting, let alone finding it with a best friend.
"'Isn't going to be easy' is my middle name!" He proclaimed excitedly, and leaped up at the same time, ready and raring to get this show on the road.
He listened as a million questions poured out of his friends mouth and he smiled. "They're bigger, MUCH bigger. " They were probably about the size of one of them. They could eat the egg if they were able to get it away, but he wasn't sure if Koios liked eggs. "Do you eat eggs? I guess i should have asked that first." If not they could just play with it. They were like rocks and there was no way them messing around with it was going to do it any harm. Perhaps roll it away from the nest and hide it from its parents who would more than likely find it without too much issue. He really hadn't thought the plan completely through yet.

Koios had rested easy as Areo began to explain to him what exactly these 'egg's were. He had never tried one, but had heard about them. "They sound HUGE." He said, pulling both paws up in front of him to express the size as best possible. "I would love to try one, I've never eaten egg before." He smiled encouragingly. This would be a grand adventure! With the pair of them it always was.
"Why don't you lead the way Areo?" He asked, curious as to where these birds were. He wondered if they'd have the chance to see one. What would it look like? Were the birds big? Or were the eggs the only big thing about them? His brain began to work overtime as he awaited Areo's direction.

"You're going to love them!" How Koios had never had an egg before was unfathomable to the dark and orange cub and hopefully it would soon be remedied, as long as momma ostrich wasn't around. If that was the case then they could just count their adventure as a no go. Hopefully the coast was still clear. "This way!" He said excitedly as he darted into some of the tall grasses towards the location he last remembered the eggs being. He really hoped upon hoped that the mother wasn't back. As he came within visual of the nest he saw the towering form of the mother and he looked back towards his friend with a frown. "I guess we're out of luck today. At least you can see what i'm talking about though!" He said pointing in the direction of the nest.

The white cub took haste when following Areo, this was very exciting, super exciting! The pale cub had spent a fair bit of time with his black counterpart and knew that by now they'd have fun no matter the outcome. "I hope so!" Koios proclaimed, blaring his excitement for the world around him to hear.
"Coming." He said, keeping his voice down a bit more as they began to approach some taller grass. This would be a test of their agility and ability to hunt, he was sure of it. Perhaps when they grew up they would be hunters! The thought had never occurred to him and now that it had he began to take this a little more seriously.
The frown hit Koios near the same time as Areo, their matching faces probably made them look very small and thats how the pale cub felt. "If only we were bigger and stronger!" He explained to his companion. "Promise we'll try and get the Mother one day?" Koios had absorbed what the Mother looked like, she was massive, but he would be massive one day too. "We'll be back, Mother Ostrich, we'll be back."
Though adventure had ended quickly, it was still impressive to see such a sight and Koios did not leave with an empty mind. "We can hang out tomorrow? I have to head for dinner now." He said, not realizing how long that had taken. He waited just long enough to receive an answer from Areo before he took off towards home.

He sat down staring with sad eyes as the site of the Mother ruined whatever chances of egg knapping they had in mind. He raised a brow and a mischievous grin formed upon his dark maw. "You betcha we're going to get her one of these days. Once we're bigger and stronger of course!" He wouldn't miss an opportunity like that for the world. He had never actually seen a lion take down an ostrich before, so if they did it, it would have to be something awesome, right?
At the mention of tomorrow he glanced up to see how far the sun was in the sky and he had to get home as well. "Yes! Same place as usual!" He said nudging him on the shoulder with his own before racing off in his own direction of home. He couldn't wait to see his friend again and see what trouble..... erm, adventures they might get into next.
