"Again."
Luc responded immediately, lunging at Zeus with fangs bared and flames bright as the Pikachu's cheeks crackled dangerously with electricity. Claire had come to one of the training rooms to train her pokemon - or some of them, anyway. Cassia sat near the agent's shoes, while all of Aulus's pokemon had been released nearby to do whatever they liked. As much as she figured he would like them to train, she had no idea how he liked to train them or what he did to do so, and she didn't want to overstep any boundaries.
Inigo'd had a similar idea, although he didn't have nearly as many pokemon. One in particular was new, however, and sat perched on his shoulder - little Charlotte, a pink and white Spinarak he'd rescued from an unusually persistent Fearow the other day. He opened the door to one of the training rooms and stepped inside, but stopped short when he saw the other person. "Oh, uh, sorry," he said with a sheepish, lop-sided grin as he reached a hand up to rub the back of his neck. "I didn't know anyone was in here.."

Tortie asserted to the assembled group,
Char rumbled,
Tortie showed her fangs, She didn't like Discord in the least, mainly because he had absolutely no respect for her authority as leader of their pack.
snipped Red, who also had absolutely no respect for her authority.
Char sighed heavily and shook his head. The grass type was so very irresponsible. Luckily however he was not stupid, and quite aware of how flammable he was; he was easy enough to keep him in line if you could just pin him down.
<...Eh?> Paul blinked and glanced away from the door, trying to tune back into the conversation and cringing as Red gave him an especially sharp look.
Three sets of eyes swivelled around to look where Paul was now looking again. Tortie laughed somewhat nastily.

Zeus stopped where he stood to look at the door, ignoring the other Pokemon -- which was a big mistake. A mistake he realized the instant Luc tackled him with a triumphant growl and pinned him down. The Pikachu was extremely unamused.
Bonnie and Clyde looked on from behind either of Inigo's legs, the former giving them all suspicious looks while the latter seemed eager to be friendly. Charlotte shrank back on her trainer's shoulder when she saw the two birds in the room, so only her bright red eyes and her horn were visible. "Eee...?" Inigo reached a hand up to gently touch her head.
"It's alright," the agent said after a brief moment and a small sigh. "You can stay if you'd like."

Red commented with a clack of her beak,
Char sighed. Sometimes his compatriots just weren't very civilized at all. Paul was so often the whipping boy of their group despite his attempts to shield the bug, and despite the master's great fondness for him. In his absence it was actually a little better than usual, a banding together of sorts... not that Discord was joining in with that, he had joined them only a couple of weeks before the mission to the museum and was far from settled. Aptly named, very aptly indeed.
Tortie snapped, annoyed by the calm authority the fire type exerted and just on edge in general of late. me to deal with. Do you need a reminder of that?> If she didn't keep a firm hold of them, lead them until Aulus was back, they would fall into chaos.
This time Char did not sigh, because he didn't want to provoke the Absol. Closer, and yet more volatile. He understood her tempers though; she had been with the master since the moment she hatched. She must want him back desperatly.
Tortie snapped, does cower. He must grow stronger. He must learn to battle properly.>
While the larger pokemon discussed him like an inferior cut of meat Paul crept forward out of the shadow of Char's body; he was fairly sure neither of the big terrible birds would eat him... fairly certain. It was the first time in quite a while that he’d seen one of his own kind, too long really.

When the large scary bird called her a snack, Charlotte crept further down to hide on Inigo's back with a nervous "eee..." which caused the trainer to frown, but even though he craned his neck in both directions, he couldn't see the little Spinarak anymore. He simply shrugged and put his hands in his pockets before focusing on the agent again.
The red and white spider hadn't seen Paul hiding near Char, so when he was suddenly speaking so close by, it startled the little bug. she chittered nervously. If she got down from the safety of her trainer, would she be eaten..? No, not here, not with her trainer to protect her. But.. Ooh, there were two birds this time rather than just one... No, no, she would be alright. Just.. As long as she kept telling herself that. Right? Right. the small spider said earnestly as she crept down from her vertical perch to hide behind Inigo's right shoe, so she would be on Paul's level. Ohh, she hadn't seen another Spinarak yet, so she was excited. Nervous because of birds, but also excited. And nervous.
Odette twisted her head a bit to eye the pair of food bugs, but Claire put a hand on the Pidgeot's shoulder to stay her and preemptively curb any ideas the bird might have otherwise thought of.
Zeus frowned and scratched an itch on his ear with a hind paw. he said to Aulus's larger Pokemon. Like Blue, and up until recently, Luc, but at least he had-- do that!> He spoke sharply to the little bundle of creamy yellow fur and energy that had tackled him, but the tiny Pichu just giggled and swatted at his ear. Ugh, kids...

Paul replied with slightly nervous earnestness, He missed his trainer. He got to sit on his shoulder when he was on the computer or watching the television or when he or went for a run or something. Aulus had always been nice to him, and had saved him from being stepped on. He wished he could have saved him from being taken away, but he had been too afraid... at least he had managed to get everyone's pokeballs; that was something wasn't it? Tortie didn't seem to think so, the Absol seemed not to like him very much a lot of the time.
Tortie snorted and nod of agreement. Ha! The dark type gave a rumbling laugh as Zeus was accosted. It was pretty amusing seeing Zeus of all pokemon getting bothered by - and tolerating - a small child; she quite liked Zeus on the whole, she'd certainly prefer to be on a team with him than Red or that bloody smug snake, or Paul for that matter. Char was alright though she supposed; at least he was competant, and wasn't arrogant like Red or lawless like Discord.

Zeus aimed a particularly rueful look at Cassia, then humphed at Tortie's words before he replied in gruff tones, course there's hope for her.> As if anyone under his direct tutelage didn't have hope -- especially one of his own kind.
Charlotte replied as she nervously rubbed one leg with another. she said happily, hinting that she was very glad to be owned now rather than unhappy like some wilds usually were. The little spider seemed to brighten at this.

Tortie gave a toothy grin, It really was pretty funny to see him being something approaching paternal to the little one, even if he wouldn't admit it.
Oh.
Sadness.
Paul wilted as he looked over at Claire. If he got back. So far as he had been able to gather Aulus and the other stolen humans had been taken away by an enemy, and a powerful one at that, one that had reason to hate them. He would get back though wouldn't he? He had to because... because he missed him. He didn't want a new trainer.

Zeus eyed the dark-type but simply nodded in response before following Cassiopeia as she wandered off to inspect things.
Charlotte wilted as well. She didn't mean to make him sad... Humans went on funny things called 'vay-kay-shuns' if she'd heard right, so maybe he was doing one of those... From what she understood, it was when a human went away from their home for a while to do other things somewhere. It was an interesting concept, but one she never wanted to apply. Her home was the forest, but after the scary bird attack and her new human rescuing her, her home was wherever he went. Charlotte took a few moments to look at the girl human before she turned back to Paul, looks like a nice human.. Is she nice?> Oh, she hoped the human was nice. It was so good when humans were nice.

Conversation with Zeus over for now Tortie got up and stretched. The less she had to hear about the pink one's stupid questions and their own little coward's fumbling responses the better. Vacation? Really? Ugh.
Red clacked her beak and puffed up her. There was no chance she would be shown up when Lady Odette was nearby!
Char sighed wearily and followed after the bickering pair.
Paul watched the trio move away to the other side of the training area, now even more embarrassed and depressed than he had been before. Why had Tortie had to go and say something like that? All he needed to know about them, he felt, was that they were scary and had taken his trainer away. With embarrassment threatening to become terminal, Paul attempted to get his mandibles in order to keep talking. Aulus liked her a lot a lot; he talked about her to them sometimes, about how he was worried he wouldn't get things right. Tortie didn't like to hear him talking about that; he was pretty sure the Absol was jealous.

Charlotte watched the Absol as she spoke and ordered the other two around. It looked like she was the leader of them... Or was trying to be, at any rate, because neither of the others seemed all too keen to do what she said. Poor thing.
She turned her attention back to Paul, looking completely as if she hadn't understood the meaning of Tortie's words. Perhaps she hadn't. What he said, however, had quite an effect on her. she said, tone quieting as she seemed to shrink, several legs that weren't seeing much use reflexively curling up under her a bit as if some scary bird might come flying by to spirit her away at any moment. She only knew the ones she'd seen in the forest - trainers, it seemed like - and now the Rockets, who she'd heard about in passing while sitting on her new human's shoulder and from his other pokemon. While the Rockets didn't seem like the nicest people, hers was very nice, so it was good to know some of them were nice and others weren't. It was like any other kind of human, really, because there were good and bad trainers as well.
Inigo shifted and moved one foot a few inches during conversation, and Charlotte scuttled back behind its shadow before continuing.

The world was a sad and scary place. It had been less sad and scary since Aulus had found him, but now his trainer was gone and... life was still less scary, but it was much sadder. Paul shrank in on himself and made a sad chittery noise. This was the best place in the world, and its people were the best people.
Paul said after a moment, trying to sound hopeful. Claire would never give up. She'd make sure Aulus got home safe, and Hayes too who sometimes fed him bits of popcorn and was always so calm and nice to Aulus. They'd come back okay. They had to.

she agreed wholeheartedly, making similarly sad chittery noises, The name sounded odd, to be honest, nothing she'd ever heard of... Or at least, nothing her new human spoke of. If they stole Rockets though, that made them scary, sort of like large birds. Or any birds, in fact.
Oh, he was talking again. she said in what she hoped was a reassuring tone.

Paul replied, not sounding overly hopeful. He knew they would try, but he also knew the Galactics were powerful and seemed to hate his trainer a great deal. He couldn’t imagine why anyone would hate his trainer; he was so nice!
Paul added after a moment. Huge and scary, or mean.

Charlotte paused to look up at Inigo, who seemed to be chatting with the other human girl. The girl looked rather impatient, but her human didn't seem to notice. she said as she focused back on Paul again. More sad chittery noises.
