Princess Eva was beginning to get worried over her boil. Ever since she had jumped down from his arms to sit across from him to get a better look at him (and incidentally sat next to that atrociously smelling boil) he had been constantly...agitated. That was the best word for it. He was not sleeping very well at night, tossing and turning and sometimes giving up to get up and practice, as evidenced by his red-rimmed eyes. He was picking at his food, failing with his meditations, and in general seemed anxious and restless.
There was only so much training that one boil should do in such a short span, and so finally, fed up with watching him, she made it clear that she wanted to go outside. It was time for her to take a walk, and she planned on taking a leisurely one. Just get her boil outside to get some fresh air and force him to slow down.
And that was precisely what they were doing. Taking a nice, leisurely talk. At least, until her Shu-sense began tingling. In reality she probably smelled the other minipet, or even saw her, but having Shu-sense seemed much more exciting. With an excited "Yip!" she charged ahead, forcing Yin to break into a surprised and stumbling run until he got his feet underneath him. "Princess Eva?" He could call all he wanted, she was not going to stop until she saw her friend.

It was a lovely day, and a walk was exactly what Xiu and her minis needed after a pleasant lunch together. Unsurprisingly, being the feline that he was, Arashi had not been at all interested in the prospect of a walk, but Shu and Jian had agreed to accompany her. Part of the baku wondered if they had only agreed because they wanted to keep an eye out for her and protect her--as her uncle had told them to do--but in the end, she decided that it didn't really matter. She was happy to have the pair for company during this pleasant, peaceful walk.
Or at least, it had been peaceful until one of the two--Shu--suddenly seemed to sense something. Her ears were pricked and her nose was lifted upwards as she sniffed the air, eyes bright and alert. Xiu and Jian both stopped in their tracks, the former clearly confused, while the latter mimicked Shu's actions by lifting his nose and sniffing the air. Almost immediately after, he wrinkled his nose in distaste as a "oh" expression crossed his face.
"Shu? Shu, what's wro--" Xiu squeaked in surprise as, without any warning, her Dream Blossom suddenly went darting off. After a moment of hesitation, the baku chased after her, Jian right on her heels. "Shu, stop! Where are you going? Shu--Yin Cang?"
Her eyes widened in surprise to find her friend out here, and she slowed her pace once she was a few meters away. Smiling, she made her way towards him at a more leisurely pace. "Good afternoon, Yin Cang!" Xiu greeted pleasantly. From this distance, she had yet to see his red-rimmed eyes.
Shu, on the other hand, nearly stumbled to a halt right in front of her friend. Eyes bright, she laid her ears back and greeted her friendly with a happy squeak. Jian's greeting, as he trotted up behind Shu, was less pleasant. He just stared.

What would have been nice to know was what had possessed Princess Eva to make her run. It was not like the rabo to take off like that, especially as today she had seemed to want to meander and sniff everything. But her reasoning soon became clear as another pet bounded toward Princess Eva, a pet that he recognized. After a moment it clicked and he looked up to see Miss Xiu-Ying as she called out to him. He lifted up a hand in acknowledgement, and as the distance closed he offered his own greeting. "And a good afternoon to you as well Miss Xiu-Ying."He looked down at Princess Eva, not used to seeing her play with other minipets. Well, not with Shu. The rabo was flipping her tails excitedly as she yipped back at Shu. It was easy for her to ignore Jian and she crouched down, laying her forelegs flat to the ground as she wriggled for just a moment...and then pounced. It was a completely playful action, and really she gave Shu enough warning if she really wanted to get out of the way. And the result was that Yin could not help but smile, a truly genuine expression that he had used far too little the past few days at he had been mentally too preoccupied to simply enjoy something. "I suppose that this explains why Princess Eva was so anxious to run."

The baku's tail wagged happily behind her as she approached her friend, but her gaze was drawn towards their minis as Yin spoke. A wide grin spread over her face at his words, and she gave a small bob of her head in agreement. "Shu too! I was so surprised when she suddenly darted off." Her smile turned a bit wry as she tore her gaze away from the trio of minis to look back at the boil. "Shu and Princess Eva really hit it off when you left her with me. I'm glad to see that they've become friends."
The Dream Blossom didn't bother dodging her friend's playful pounce, emitting an excited little squeak as she wrestled with the Rabo. Jian, on the other hand, did not look pleased, moving forward and reaching out with a paw in an attempt to separate the two.
Xiu probably would have commented on this if not for the fact that her eyes were focused on Yin's, her expression immediately changing to one of concern. Leaning forward slightly, she lifted a hand pointed to her own eyes. "Yin Cang...have you not been sleeping well?" Insomnia? Or was something else bothering him?

That was good, and while it had seemed as though Princess Eva had enjoyed herself she had also been happy when he had picked her up, so it was hard to tell. But now? Seeing her here with Shu and playing around convinced him that yes, he had made the right decision. Even if he never wanted to leave her again. He did not want to lose her after all, just as he did not want to lose someone else.
Miss Xiu-Ying was leaning forward, almost crossing into the personal space that he did not necessarily like females in. Especially when he was stressed out and exhausted. Miss Xiu-Ying was not often one that made him uncomfortable, but seeing as his entire world had been turned upside down? He may have taken a step back. "Not for the past couple of days," he admitted reluctantly, unwilling to lie. "Have you been sleeping well?" It was a rather lame and half-hearted attempt to get the focus back on the demoness, but his brain was not fully functioning on the limited amount of sleep he had been getting.
Meanwhile, in their own little world, two balls of fluff appeared to be "attacking" one another. And someone was trying to spoil her fun. Princess Eva could feel a paw prodding her and reluctantly backed away from Shu. Before sending her a mischievous grin that was. She turned and pounced at Jian, deciding that the boil really just needed to loosen up.

Xiu was clearly concerned, if the frown and the drawn brows were any indication. Noting that he had stepped back, she immediately drew backwards to give him some space. "I...yes, I've been fine. How come you haven't been sleeping well?" She distractedly answered his question before turning the focus right back to him. "If you've been having insomnia or nightmares, I could help you with those."
The former would just require a batch of that herbal tea she had made for her friends before, and the latter...well. The latter would be a little more complicated if Yin wasn't the type who was comfortable with letting someone poke about in their dreams. If Xiu could figure out a way to eat nightmares without having to see them first, she would, but...
And while their owners were being all serious business over there, the minis--or Shu, at least--were having a blast. Jian, on the other hand, let out a very angry and indignant noise as Princess Eva suddenly pounced on him, and this was followed by another growl when Shu joined her. The Nightmare Flower thrashed beneath them in an attempt to break free, and though he easily could have bitten them...
...Well, he wasn't going to bite them.

With Xiu's owner done with tests for the week, Yin's player finally responds!
"There has been...a lot to think about," he admitted somewhat reluctantly, not sure that he should really talk to the ghoul about what was going on. "Because of this I cannot sleep. I do not know that you would be able to help with this sort of insomnia." But on the other hand..."What would be your suggestion for such a situation? To help someone to sleep? Do you know much about sleep?" He rather desperately needed the rest, and if she had any idea of how to help him then he should probably take it. But he was slightly concerned, what if the demoness had trouble sleeping, was that why she knew so much?
With Shu helping her they had pinned Jian, and Princess Eva could not help but let out a happy little yip of excitement, tails flicking every which way. Feeling quite satisfied she finally stopped, hopping over to the side and then stretching. "I guess he still cannot beat us Shu." She told her friend, a rather foxy grin on her face. "Ghouls are better after all~" Especially when ghouls double-teamed a boil, but that was irrelevant.

Ah, so something was troubling his mind, and that was why he hadn't been getting any sleep lately. Xiu frowned at this, her expression thoughtfully as she crossed her arms over her chest. Could she help with this? "Well...I can make you a brew of tea that will make you sleepy. That may help, troubled thoughts or not." Considering how often she made the tea, she already had a small batch prepared at home. Perhaps she could go and fetch it for him?
His question startled her, though her surprised expression was followed with a light laugh. "Well...yes, to some extent. I am a baku, after all." Xiu's lion tail gave a little swish as she spoke, as if to emphasize this fact.
Jian was more than a little relieved when the two ghouls finally decided to get off of him. Growling, he pushed himself to his feet and shook himself off, clearly displeased. Shu, on the other hand, seemed to be beaming at Princess Eva as she gave a little bob of her head. "I'm not sure anyone could beat us! We make a good team."

Tea? Just the idea of tea sounded comforting, nevertheless tea that would actually help him to sleep. And he would trust it to work coming from Miss Xiu-Ying. "I would not wish to impose upon you though," he informed her, though the exhaustion that he felt argued that yes, yes he really did want to impose upon her. Anything for something to help him sleep through the night just once, to give him a clear head so he could think about things later.
But the answer to his other question intrigued him, as she told him what she was as if that really explained everything. "A 'baku'?" he questioned, not really having the faintest clue as to what that meant. "I beg your pardon but I am not sure what that means."
Jian was pouting, (at least in Princess Eva's mind) which just made the entire "fight" even better. Shu had the right idea, this was fun. "We are unstoppable," she declared with a small bark of laughter. "Perhaps we should become heroes and defend the weak. Or," she said with a mischievously sly look, "at least Jian."

Xiu was quick to hold up her hands, shaking her head furiously. "No, no! You wouldn't be imposing on me at all! I want to make sure that you're sleeping well." Smiling sympathetically, she lowered one of her hands while using the other to motion towards the direction of the demon dorms. "Did you drop by to pick it up now? Or I can bring it over later today." In all honestly, she was fine with whichever option that was more convenient for poor Yin.
The ghoul was, however, rather surprised at his question. Ah, had she never...? Oops! Looking a little sheepish, Xiu rubbed the back of her head. "I, ah...yes! A baku! I'm a type of demon that eats dreams." There was a pause, and then she continued on the clarify, "Nightmares, usually, but when it comes to scaring humans, I eat the good dreams."
Hopefully that wouldn't...weird him out too much.
Shu puffed up slightly, beaming happily at the declaration. Yes, they made a wonderful team! A wonderful, brave, and heroic team! "Oh! Are we going to be using our skill to protect Jian?" Shu looked pleased.
Jian did not.

Though Xiu was denying it it still sounded as if he would be imposing on her. "Then if you do not mind I shall accompany you now? That way you do not have to try to find me later." The less work that he gave the ghoul the better. Then he realized something and added "unless you are busy right now of course! I could always wait for you near the demon dormitory..."
Someone who...ate dreams? That actually sounded fairly interesting. "Is that why sometimes one cannot remember what they had a dream about?" he questioned curiously. "It was a baku looking after them?" Though really, he had had some nightmares before, so perhaps one had to know a baku to get rid of those. And at least his were more spaced out than when he had first arrived. Nightmares of being back in the clan were something that he could do without.
"Just imagine. A bold corridivus gets it into his head that he can carry off a whole minipet and swoops in to carry Jian off. Well he would have to call for us to save him. Maybe we should have hero names? Or at least a team name!" She glanced at Jian, noting how much he was enjoying this. "Or maybe, if he promises to be good, he can be our sidekick!" Oh what a tale she was spinning for her friend.

"Now would be fine! And oh, no--it's okay, Yin Cang! I'm not busy at all right now." After all, she had really just been out on a walk with Shu and Jian, and a walk was a walk regardless of what direction they went. Besides, the sooner that the boil got the tea, the sooner (she hoped) that he would get a good night's sleep.
She made a gesture towards the demon dorms before taking a few steps in that direction. "Ah, well, yes and no. Sometimes it is the work of a baku, and sometimes the dreamer just simply can't recall their dream." It was strange, Xiu had to admit, and she herself did not fully understand the reason for it. "Though, ah. If you find need of my assistance, please let me know? I do warn you though: I see the dream before I eat it." Jack knows that the ghoul had learned her fair share of secrets from accidentally (and not-so-accidentally for a while) diving into students' dreams.
Before Shu could even answer her friend, Jian spoke up first. To Yin, Xiu, and any other students, it just sounded like a sharp bark followed by grumbling. To the two female minis, however, it was an obviously displeased, "How ironic--I think that you two are the ones who would need saving, not me."

Yin fell into step beside and just about half of a pace behind the baku, taking a few step with her and then turning to call for Princess Eva. "Do you mind accompanying us Princess Eva? I believe we are all headed back now."
Well, it all seemed slightly odd. But it was not worrisome until she informed him that she saw the dream. No nightmare would be worth forcing someone else to live through it, even if they just thought that it was ridiculous. Nor did he have any desire to share those dreams. "I believe that any nightmares I may have are manageable, but I shall keep the offer in mind. Thank you very much Miss Xiu-Ying."
Princess Eva looked more amused than anything. Then her boil called for her, requesting that she accompany him. "We have to go protect them!" She said excitedly, bounding forward. Then she slowed and turned. "Maybe Jian needs to go first so we can make sure he does not get lost."

Xiu paused briefly to shoot an affectionate smile over her shoulder at Princess Eva when the Rabo was addressed--she really was quite fond of the mini after her brief stay in Xiu's room--before she turned back towards their destination. Her gaze flickered towards Yin as he assured her that he was alright, lips curving upwards in a faint smile.
"If you're certain. I guess the tea is the best thing that I can do for you, then." And hopefully it worked! It was rather distressing seeing her friend so tired. As if she thought that passing the tea into Yin's hand faster would mean that he would get better faster, the baku's pace picked up ever so slightly.
Behind them, Jian was not pleased by Princess Eva's consideration. He wasn't a cub, so he didn't need anyone--nevermind these two ghouls--treating him like one! Both Princess Eva and Shu received a grumpy glare before he bound on ahead, slowing only when he made it to Xiu's side. Shu didn't seem at all concerned about his silent treatment though, turning to her friend and cheerfully chirping, "Don't worry about him, he does that lot!" And then she started towards their owners, making sure that her friend was alongside her during the whole run.
Eventually, they would reach the demon dorms. Xiu paused at the stairs, turning to look at Yin. "Would you like to come in, or shall I run upstairs and just grab the tea for you?"

The tea really did sound nice, unlike the thought of speeding up. For once he was finding it difficult to match her pace, as the energy seemed to be drained out of him as exhausted as he was. He was starting to lag behind her and he continued to push himself after her, focusing merely on focusing on her back as she got to be slightly ahead of him and then just began slipping slightly farther and farther away.
Princess Eva stayed by his side after she ran next to Shu to catch up, happy to stay next to her boil. Oddly enough he seemed to be lagging behind, which was rather peculiar for him. She looked up as he tried to fight a yawn and failed, covering his mouth, slightly worried about him.
He was physically tired by the time that they reached the demon dormitory, and it felt so very odd to realize that he simply dreaded walking all the way to her dorm room. Up those stairs just to get a simple bit of tea. Looking slightly distressed he could not force his gaze up to meet her eyes. "I must apologize Miss Xiu-Ying, but would you mind going alone? Princess Eva may wish to go with you however."
