Article Headline: Desecrated graveyard leaves many questioning
* D class difficulty level (you can run this mission solo or with a group/team)
*Article contents: Owners are confused and outraged, as well as locals, as to why their neighbourhood graveyard would be desecrated in such a manner. The deceased bodies are missing, and investigators still have to locate any remains.
MECHANICS

* MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 3B. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Each player must roll at least three times with rped reactions. Once they have "collected enough information", they can return back and submit a report in this thread.
1- 20: The graveyard is a very large lot, other than the very obvious empty lots, nothing else seems to catch your eye.
21 - 40: You notice that a lot of the empty lots still have grave markers on them. All of them are missing a deceased date... that's unusual, isn't it?
41 - 60: A strange sort of black plant - roots - seem to be sprouting out from the "desecrated" lots, it visibly withers and disappears upon contact with any light source.
61 - 80: Even the coffins, you notice, are missing. There is indeed no signs of the bodies, or pieces of it anywhere, but you notice someone standing in the distance, wearing a black petticoat and an umbrella - even though its not raining - you look back at them again but they're gone.
81- 100: Something clatters under your feet, strange in texture. You dig it up - a broken old fashioned pocket watch is buried underneath.

* 2 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Dakota rubbed his neck as he got the mission assignment in before sighing. He wasn't one for graveyards....ever. In fact, the last time he had been near one was the Indian reserve where they had paid respects to his grandma and grandpa, two wiseman's of his tribe who had passed in the fire that had brought them into the world he did now.

He blinked at the options of taking a team before flipping open his phone. He could only thing of one hunter at the moment he wanted to go with him.

One of the sun hunters. The sun brotherhooooooooood. Jordan.

He never really got to thank that guy after helping him...so much.

Jordan
Hey Jordan! Dakota here wondering if you'd like to take a trip to pay respects to the dead...aka mission time?

And then he waited...

One could never be quite sure if a text was something interesting or something terrifying about to happen. This was really no exception. Still, Jordan had wanted to check on Dakota anyway, and he felt he could really use a trip to the outside world about now.

Text to Dakota: Sure. What part of the world, so I can be prepared?

Dakota jumped at the quickness of the text back before flipping the phone open again. Smiling, he sent a quick reply.

Jordan
Report says: Dragomirești, Romania. Population is under 3000. Looks like Graveyard's being dug up? Vamps or Undead? Fill you more at the lighthouse?

He grabbed his hunter coat before heading to the lighthouse. The portals of all portals.

"Yo, need one to Romania please?" Funny, It'd be his first mission in another country.

Jordan nodded to himself. Romania would be cold at this time of year; he'd better grab full gloves along with the rest of his usual kit.

Grabbing my stuff, be there in ten.

When he arrived, he was carrying a light pack slung over one shoulder. He smiled at Dakota, a little sheepishly. "Hey. Doing all right?"
PostPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 1:58 pm

Dakota shuffled in his coat, the sleeves he had usually rolled up were all the way down. His black gloves strapped on, knee pads and elbow pads. The funny bone is connected to the...Wrist bone...

Dakota grinned as he patted Chama. Poor Phoenix didn't like the cold....as of late though, he was beginning to think she didn't like anything at all.

Was all she said meekly before a huge sigh. WHAT.

Your a weapon Chama.

He blinked at her before shrugging. Whatever man.

"Sup Jordan..." He waved before looking sheepishly down. "I'm alright, not any far off then I was before." He flexed before nodding to the portal. "ready to go check out the undead?" He tucked his hands in his pocket before rolling on heels. "In the small town of hicksville. Report said this town use to be the home of Vladmir, the original impaler and first Vampire....If you believe it..."

"More inclined to believe it these days," Jordan said. "Ready when you are." He inclined his head towards the portal. Dakota's assignment, so the younger man got the privilege of leading the way.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 23, 2012 10:17 am

"Right?" Dakota breathed in before heading into the portal. A quick flash and displacement of body left Dakota dropping into a thick fold of snow, at least three feet high, hitting just below his waist.

"Ack, report said it was a snowy region, I didn't expect to be drowning in it." Dakota brushed as much as the frozen water off before waiting for Jordan to pop through before dragging out the map he printed.

"Looks like the portal dropped us off a mile or so from the town...." He grimaced before shaking. Not cold Not cold. "We head west for about 30mins or so and we'll be there. Man the human realm...." He sighed, "I feel like its been forever...."

The snowdrift was unexpected. Jordan floundered for a moment, grumbling, before he could extract himself, somewhat ungracefully. "I hate snow," he muttered, then leaned over for a look at the map. "I guess we'd better get moving, then." He pulled a compass out of a pocket of his bag and checked their heading against the map, then started west.

"Feels so isolated on the island," he agreed. "It's almost easy to forget that the rest of the world is out there. Good to get out once in a while. Have you gotten to be in on an off-hours outing yet?" He grinned. "Pretending to be a normal person again is weird."
PostPosted: Thu Feb 23, 2012 8:05 pm

Dakota grinned at the grumbles from Jordan before nodding. "Have to agree on that Jordan, I'm not much one for the cold anyways......" He patted Chama before looking at Jordan, "Your weapon is fire based right? Chama is, maybe has to do something with our preferences in weather?" He shrugged before pulling a pair of goggles up and over his head.

It wasn't sunny and yet, the snow was blinding as all hell. Shivering out the cold, he double checked the map before looking back to Jordan.

"it can be I guess...." He blinked behind his goggles before nodding, "I think its still a little surrell to me...I guess. I mean all my life we moved from one place to another, I never really got to develop a deep rooted connection with anyone..." He pulled up to Jordan before continuing, "And last time I was out was Christmas, but it was brief and I had to get gifts for everyone...." He sighed before looking around again and then...

"Wait this is where normal people go?" He laughed. "Not my first vacation spot...maybe like....Hawaii or something...Or Colorado."

"Yep, Ferros was an iron dragon," Jordan agreed. "He gets pissy whenever we're somewhere cold or wet. Took me a while to convince him that showers were a good thing." He grinned. "I was a California kid. Snow? That's that stuff that happens up in the mountains and you can visit it to ski on."

"Getting the chance to just walk around and not have a job to do was a nice break. Not used to crowds any more, though," he said. He laughed at Dakota's comment. "Hawaii is overrated. The volcanoes are awesome, but the humidity is killer and the size of the bugs - well, let's just say I'm not convinced they were actually natural human-world insects."
PostPosted: Mon Mar 05, 2012 10:07 pm

"Nice! Chama tells me she's a phoenix but you know...she's also a woman..." He laughed then sobered cause Chama was shrilling in his head, "I mean that as a joke...." He rubbed his head as Chama continued her angry rant. "Haha! Chama is like that still. She doesn't escort me in the shower though cause..." he paused before frowning, "She's like my mom or something....older sister. I don't want her in there while I am naked."

"California eh? Beach boy or anything like that?" He nodded and then laughed, "Lucky you man, lived in Minnesota. Some area's we get some serious snow and by serious I mean, try sleeping in the little Teepee's we made for cultural purposes while 3 feet of snow dumped around it. Long winters man...Long winters."

He smiled as the town finally came into view...or what looked like the town. It was oddly dark and depressing compared to the blinding white snow but...wasn't Romania suppose to be pretty?

"Seriously? I like heat plus the sun...we don't get much of it on Dues anymore and I kinda of miss it." He shook at the mention of bugs before sighing. "Always a catch to something to good to be true."

"So this is the town. The report says..." He pulled it out before looking it over, "That their church's graveyard has graves dug up, bodies missing and a lot of outraged foreign folk. You speak Romanian at all?" He looked up hopeful.

Jordan laughed as Dakota got an earful from his weapon for the insult; nothing less than he would've expected from any of them. He shrugged one shoulder at the next statement. "They use our senses anyway," he said. "So there's really no way around her seeing you naked. Unless you make a point of never looking down."

A thoughtful expression crossed his face. "Ferros - he's my partner. I don't really have any other word for it," he mused. "He's like ... part of me now. I could feel him being not-there before I went down to the Cove to find him."

"Yeah, California," he confirmed. "Central Coast, about three hours south of San Francisco. A few decent beaches near home. And before you ask, yes, I can surf. Just not real well. I fell off the board more than I stayed on."

"I like heat and sun, but humidity bugs me. Oh, hey, that's it, huh?" He raised an eyebrow at Dakota. "Sorry. All I speak besides English is just enough Spanish to be able to tell when some cholo is saying rude things about me. We'll have to hope nobody bothers us about looking around." Then he paused. "Anyway, I don't think foreign really applies when it's us in their country."
PostPosted: Fri Mar 09, 2012 9:02 pm

Dakota blinked before a slight flush rose on his cheeks. Chama had never mentioned that she was that far in her connection with him. "Are...are you sure? I know she see's things...and hear's things and stuff, but does she do that on her own or use my body?" He hugged himself...now he kinda of felt.......used. Like he liked the idea of having her to talk to, to share thoughts with but...to use his senses? What was stopping her from using his body all together?

She chimed happily,

"Duly noted boss and I will be sure to never look below my waistband in fear that Chama will be peeking." His face blanked as Chama giggled and made small sounds that she had seen everything.

"Nice, Always wondered how surfing went, heard its not easy though. Must've been tight though, out in the deep blue, surrounded by water and sun." Dakota lifted his arms up and over his head, resting on the crook of his neck. "we use to have a couple mountains ranges in Minnesota famous for their waterfalls. Use to love jumping off them." He grinned, "Wasn't till I broke by leg and arm landing in the shallow pool of said waterfalls that I decided anything water dangerous related wasn't for me."

"Yeah humidity bites." Dakota agreed as they stepped into the small town. Oddly enough, there wasn't a lot of people milling around. In fact...it was so quiet, Dakota could only think that the place became a ghost town. He removed his goggles, letting them hand around his neck before frowning. "I don't like quiet man, Let's check the graves and high tail it out of here." Worst come to worst, their mission would just be some simple graverobber. "True, let's get our foreign asses to the church, check the graves and get out." He blinked as he noticed the more elaborate of the buildings, a tall stone church with colored glass panes in the form of what looked like a picture of Mary and her son Jesus in his hands. Religiously, Dakota liked to think of himself as a christian but...growing up in native american reserve left a lot to be said for more...witch doctor practices and such. He offered a small prayer of forgiveness as he headed through the doors. "Yo, anyone home in here?" Yes good idea Dakota, draw attention to yourself.

"Far as I can tell, they can see and feel whatever we see and feel." Jordan tilted an eyebrow at Dakota, one corner of his mouth turning up in a faint smirk. "You should probably figure out some kind of agreement with her, or dating will get real awkward."

"I miss blue sky and cold water sometimes," he said, and sighed. "The island's home now, but the beaches aren't quite up to standard. And I don't think I'd try surfing or swimming out too far. I've been on underwater observation duty, I know what's in the water."

"Dakota." He followed the younger man into the church. "I doubt there's anyone who speaks English nearby. Let's try to avoid getting anyone suspicious about what a couple of Americans are doing here." There was another door in the side wall, at the other end of the church and in the general direction of the graveyard that lay outside. That was probably the way out. Jordan headed for the door, quickly and quietly.

He felt like an intruder, walking before the altar; he hadn't taken Communion since before the funeral, he recalled, wasn't even sure he believed any more. Still, there was a kind of reflexive awe that crept through him in the church's stillness. If nothing else, he could respect the sacred space because it was still a holy place for the people who lived here.
