 On a deep, crisp spring morning, Jeanette Isabella had decided to go for a nice zip around the island. It was always nice to stretch out her wings and go for a good long-distance flight. Plus, one never knew what other kind of winged types one would meet up here in the air.[feel free to have him crash into her, lol]

 Infernos caught his breath as he sat on the branch of a tall tree. It had been a long climb up to get this high without a rope or help. He had chosen one of the taller trees in the area, hoping for a bit of height, from where he sat, it almost felt like he was on the hill again. Feeling like he got some breath back, Infernos stood and balanced himself on the branch he was perched on. His plan for the day was to have two possible outcomes. Either he was going to learn to fly while carrying Shroud Breaker, or quickly learn to use his aegis to save himself from the ground. It was a risky learning process, but as rule 59 says ' You can not make a pecan pie, without breaking some pecans'.
Infernos stretched out his wings and made sure Shroud Breaker was attached to him firmly. With a deep breath, Infernos pushed himself off the tree and ran along the branch, then with a flap of his wings, dove into the air. Infernos kept pushing at the air with his wings, and it seemed like he was getting upwards, then his momentum declined and suddenly he started falling....
...Right into a flying purple pae'il.
" By the LigOOF!"

[rofl. how very dignified.]
"Oof!" exclaims Jeanette Isabella. By instinct she clings to the Pae who'd...fallen?...into her, beating her wings as hard as she can, trying to keep them both aloft. Her dainty, gauzy wings aren't built for two, though, and the most she can really do is slow their descent.
"Yikes," she says when they land, which is to say, when they collapse in a heap on the ground. "Where'd you come from anyway?" she asks, looking upward as if that'd give her an answer. Grimacing, she folds her wings behind her. They were going to feel it tomorrow...

Infernos lost all sense of the world on the way down. it wasn't till he was on solid ground... or at least on purple pae'il that he could get his bearings. He got to his feet, wondering how he managed to get into this situation, but while brushing himself down, Infernos took a good look at his now awkward situation. Being that he'd not seen one of her type before, Infernos silently studied with a hand running through his hair.
" I believe the answer you are after is fae. The other of The Guardians, not a true blood obviously. And you better say something, she is speaking."
Infernos broke his thought to pay attention to the pae'il with bug things dangling on her head. He realised he probably crashed into her while his attempt failed. Though he was hoping to attempt an aegis. Infernos stood upright placing one hand behind him and the other motioning to the tree nearby.
" I was attempting some training from atop this tree, and believe we connected on my way down. If you happened to be harmed, I apologise and can offer you aid... somewhat"
Infernos kept a straight face the entire time.

What a strange Pae. "Huh? Oh, no, I'm not hurt," says Jeanette Isabella with a little dismissive hand-wave. She dusts herself off a bit. "Though I could probably use a bath now." She giggles. "Training, huh?" she asks. She looks up toward the tree, shielding her eyes with her hand against the midmorning sunlight. "What kinda training?" She looks back at Infernos with her hands on her hips, a curious expression on her face.
Maybe she could train too, if he were doing something interesting or useful. Mostly interesting. Although what kind of training someone could achieve jumping out of trees....she isn't sure she wants to participate.
"I'm Jeanette Isabella, by the way," she adds, holding her hand out.

Infernos looked at the hand before him and took it in his own to shake a few times.
" Infernos, Squire of The Holy Knights"
Letting go of her hand, Infernos looked back to the tree, and up its many branches. He started squinting the further he went up due to the light.
" I was attempting to achieve flight while carrying Shroud Breaker, and if that failed, attempt an aegis to cushion the impact from falling. Seems I failed at both for now, but it will not be my last attempt. As rule number twelve says ' Give up on giving up'. "
Looking back down towards Jeanette Isabella while adjusting his visions from the light, Infernos looked her over once more.
"This is the first encounter I've had with your kind"

"Nice to meetcha!" exclaims Jeanette Isabella.
She follows him over to the tree, then hovers next to him as he climbs. Holy Knights? What in Olympus were those? she wonders, using Iordanes' favorite swear.
"You have lots of funny words," she says, giggling. "Like what's a Shroud Breaker? Or an aegis? Or a Holy Knight? And what's rule number 12? Are there rules one through eleven as well?" She pauses. "And what'd you mean, my kind? We're both Pae, aren't we?"

Jeanette Isabella was a very curious and light hearted pae'il thought Infernos as he moved towards the tree as well. He guessed his training would have an audience this time, though she seemed an accomplished flyer, she may turn out to be his trainer.
" An honour to meet you Jeanette Isabella, and to answer all your questions in order. Shroud Breaker is the weapon I carry on my back, an aegis is a magical shield made of light. A Holy Knight is a pae'il chosen and raised to be a servant of The Guardians and defend Telrunya against the ancient pae'il."
Infernos paused as he ascended up the tree behind Jeanette Isabella, she seemed to make it looks easy, but she wasn't carrying a large hammer and was also more mature than himself.
" Rule number twelve was, as stated, 'Give up on giving up'.There are currently one hundred and two rules or guidelines in becoming a Knight. And as for your final question. We are both pae'il and chosen of The Guardians, but we have our differences in species, personality , gender and age. I was refering to your species... fae"

"Oh," says Jeanette Isabella.
These answers only generated more questions for her, though. "So, lemme get this straight. You're learning to fly with the heavy hammer on your back, and if you fail at that you're learning to make a magical shield to keep you from hitting the ground?" She pauses.
"What if you fail at both?"
She supposes he might have been doing exactly that when he crashed into her, but she thought better not to bring it up. Men seldom liked their egos poked at in such a manner.
"And....one hundred and two rules? How d'you remember them all?" she asks, tilting her head. "It seems a lot of work." She sits on the branch she's assuming he's aiming for and watches him. "Too bad you can't just fly up here and leave the hammer on the ground, then summon it to you. Wouldn't that be handy?"
She wonders, though, about lots of other things he'd said. Ancient Pae? Like old people? And she certainly didn't feel like a different species from him....They both had wings, didn't they? Of course she used hers a little better than he did, but of course he's still young. And obviously he's working on it rather intensively.
She rests her chin in her hand and continues to watch him. "I'm not distracting you, am I?" she inquires.

Infernos noticed while climbing up the tree's branches the although Jeanette Isabella was curious, she seemed to catch on quickly. He wasn't too far behind her as she reached the top.
" You are correct in your understanding, that is what I am trying to accomplish. ...I would assume that If I were not able to fly, ....or react quickly and skilfully enough to cushion my fall with an aegis, ....that I would sustain many injuries. I was hoping that if that came to pass, ... might be able to mend them or that they were not severe enough to stop me trying again"
Infernos pulled himself onto the branch that Jeanette Isabella rested upon and straddled it to catch his breath. Dusting off his hands, he decided to explain to her about his weapon while he got ready for another flight.
" The rules I helped create, so I've written them down in a book. I remember them most of the time, but if I need a reminder, Shroud Breaker has an excellent memory"
Pulling the hammer from the harness on his back, Infernos placed the maul in front of him, keeping a hand on it so it would not fall.
" Shroud Breaker was a gift from The Guardians, it is a part of me, and can speak to me in my mind. It also has a very unique ability, of removing falsehoods and lies. And to answer your last question, no you are not. We are just having a conversation and if I could not do that and train at the same time, I should not be a squire."

Jeanette Isabella nods while he explains. Everything seemed to make sense, in its own strange logic. Except for...
"Your hammer can talk to you?" she asks, eyebrows up. She wonders what they talk about. She can't imagine a hammer has much of a personality. "And it can tell when someone's lying?" she continues. That seemed handy.
She leans forward and stretches out, catlike, on the branch, lying on her belly, pillowing her arms under her chin as she watches him. Her wings twitch gently as they help her balance this way. "I'm glad I'm not distracting you. You're interesting."

Interesting? Infernos had been called may things before but interesting was not one of them. He thought about it briefly and guessed to someone that knew nothing of the Holy Knights, he might peak someone's curiosity. Raising a brow at Jeanette Isabella's positioning in the tree, Infernos put Shroud Breaker back in its harness.
" Shroud Breaker does indeed do such. Both it an I share a dislike in lies, there's no honour in it."
" Since your company here seems to be staying a while. You can let her know I said it is a pleasure to meet her"
Infernos knew one day this might happen, that he might become a middle man for a conversation between Shroud Breaker and another being. He hoped that this introduction wasn't going to become a lengthy questionnaire, as he wished to continue training.
" Shroud Breaker wished to tell you it is a pleasure to meet you"
Infernos wasted no time in getting to his feet and preparing himself for another practice flight.

Jeanette Isabella blinks several times, confused. She leans up a bit. "Oh. Well, um, you can tell....it? that I said it's a pleasure to meet....it? too?" She chews on her bottom lip. "I've never met a sentient hammer before," she says with a nervous giggle. What does one say to a conscious object? Yikes.
She falls silent as she realizes Infernos is preparing to take flight again. "Good luck!" she says with a more genuine smile. "I know you'll get it this time." Apparently she hadn't fallen silent for long...

Infernos wasn't sure if it was the fact there was a small twitch of doubt that entered his mind or that he just wanted to catch Jeanette Isabella off guard. What ever it was, Infernos wasted no time in turning around and running off the branch as fast as he could. He went airborne again, flapping his wings quickly until they were almost a blur. Infernos looked down as the ground started to come towards him. He was falling again, it was slower than last time but he was not making progress. Infernos grit his teeth and pushed his body harder, his small wings burning from stress. He struggled to keep balance, but the effort had paid off, He was not descending further and was actually staying aloft. He'd done it, in some fashion, but it was just a stepping stone. He would eventually become better at flying, he just wasn't use to Shroud Breaker being with him. The strain on his wings though was getting a bit much and he knew he would eventually need to land or stop flying and fall. Infernos looked up towards Jeanette Isabella and tried to remain composed.
" Please do not panic, I will be fine"
He wanted her to not worry as he stopped flapping his wings and dropped like a rock. Infernos was calm, for even while plumeting he had faith inside. Infernos pointed a hand to the ground, closed his eyes and shouted.
" With The Light I Repel! Galadmor!"
There was a bright light that surrounded Infernos the second before he hit the ground, then a loud crash as he hit the ground and dirt and dust went flying. It took a little moment for it to settle, but once it did, Infernos stood in a small dip in the dirt, standing on top of a platform of fire, made of light.
