Standing at the edge of the Pantheon gardens, Rio was trying very, very hard to keep himself together. It had been hard enough when his daughter had decided to serve Forest and move down the hall, but this...this was something different entirely. She was going to another world. Without him. Naturally. Why on earth should he be going along when she had a handsome druid to take her? A part of him was happy for her, excited - he knew how much she wanted to go on this adventure, not to mention how much she wanted to pursue a relationship with Elik. What better opportunity could there possibly be for that? But she was also his daughter, and the mother part of him wanted to keep her close and safe, away from any possible dangers that might lurk in the greater universe outside the Pantheon.

His wings refused to stop twitching, an outward sign of his nerves as he rechecked - again - the bags fastened to his erras-follower, Caoin. Once he'd finished, he turned to the pair, starting to wring his hands, but he quickly noticed and stopped himself. He cleared his throat. "That should be everything."

Adi, unlike her parent, wasn't the least bit worried or nervous. She was nothing but excited, and she could hardly wait to leave. Ever since Elik had suggested the trip, and then since Glyph had given her permission to go, she'd had a really hard time with the waiting, even though it took less than a week altogether. Now that it was time, though, and Rio was standing there looking slightly forlorn despite his best efforts, she started to feel a little bad about leaving him, and was quick to give him a hug. "We'll send Caoin back once we get there, okay? It'll be fine!"

The erras nodded his assent.

Rio looked like he was about to swing in worried mother mode any second now, and he wasn't sure how to handle that. On one part, it was endearing, but on the other, it reminded him entirely too much of his own mother. It couldn't be helped, he figured.

Would it stop hurting, one day ? He wasn't sure, and, really, wasn't even aware that it would hurt until he finally made it stop himself. He was silent as Lover checked the bags for what seemed to be the millionth time, clearly used to seeing such fussing.

Just because he was millenias old didn't mean that his mother had ever stopped fussing, no.

"I will take good care of her, I promise." He did finally say, low enough for the excited Adrienne not to overhear. Not that she probably was paying attention, in all of her excitement.

Comforted just a little by the hug from Adi and the reassurance that Caoin was going along, Rio managed to pull himself together a tad bit more as his daughter pulled away from the hug, suddenly distracted by a gaggle of flooxes butting in to remind her that they wanted to go, too! While the girl gathered them up one by one to hug them and say goodbye - which took awhile, since there were half a dozen! - Love turned back to Elik.

"Good," he responded in a low voice, "Because if anything happens to her, her father will kill us both." His tone was a combination of joking and serious - it wasn't meant to be a threat, because he did trust Elik. It was an honest, if slightly exaggerated, warning. Orin probably wouldn't kill them, but...

"Yeah, most likely." Also something his mother had often said. Really, Rio was such a girl on some ways... Through he knew better than to say that, of course. "I doubt there will be any problem, from what I know. Darnassus is pretty closed off the rest of the world, and I don't intend to go much further than Teldrassil." And Illisia had given no mention of horde interference, really... Hn. Well, clearly for the best.

Through he hoped Adi didn't remember what he'd said about taurens and asked to see one. Oh dear.

Rio was much too focused on being worried but not looking worried - and mostly failing - that he didn't realize just how motherly he was being. He thought he was doing a pretty godo job, which was probably a good thing, because if he'd known how miserably he was failing, he would have fretted about it even more. Either way, as much as he loathed to, they were going to have to get this over with - sooner rather than later, because he doubted he'd be able to hold up for an even longer goodbye. He was not going to cry...not until he got back to his rooms, anyway.

"Well." Once Adi had finished saying goodbye to her pets, Rio nodded. "You two be careful, and have fun. I'll see you...when you get back." That was part of what was so hard - he didn't know when he'd see her again!

The werewolf was having a particularly hard time detaching Phlox, and ultimately had to hand him off to Rio. The gray floox protested unhappily, but at least petting it gave the god something to do. "There! Ready?"

Really, poor Rio. Through Elik was trying not to bring attention to worry too much - he simply nodded and watched the floox wrestling with an amused expression.

"Well, then... Let's get going, no ?" He couldn't help but nervous himself - he wasn't sure exactly how a horse was gonna get them to another world, but... Well, he'd certainly learned how to properly expect the unexpected. He did saddle up first, so that Adrienne could hold onto him if needed, through he looked a little awkward at this whole horse-riding thing. He was so used to simply shift and either fly and run to destination...

"Be safe," Rio said with a hard swallow, practically clinging to Phlox, while the ridgeback peeped sadly at Adi. How could she leave him? It wasn't fair!

Once night elf and werewolf were aboard, Caoin dipped his head in farewell to Love, and then was off into the woods at a lope. He ran for a short while before saying to his riders "Hold on. You must not fall now, or it will be the last thing you do."

With a faint pop of sound and a distinctly nauseating feeling, the world abruptly changed from morning-lit forest to to darkness on all sides, and the erras ran on and on, until they suddenly traded darkness for somewhere much more familiar to Elik, along with yet another sickening feeling. The feather-winged erras came to a slow stop, to allow them to recover and determine where they were. Though he knew the path to get them here, he hadn't been to this place in many, many years.

This was highly uncomfortable, at least to Elik. And what the hell was this place ?! No, even without Caoin's warning, he would not have been very tempted to let go, at all. This place, this darkness, crashed down against his senses like a ten-ton weight and only made the druid cling on the errais more.

Another heart-sinking pop and they were out of that place, and into another - Elik perked his head a bit, blinking. Where were they ?

It took him a moment to remember, if only because the last time he had seen this place, it had been more or less barren, broken. Now trees had grown again, at a seemingly impossible rate, and it was only the lake far down below that gave him some sort of where they had ended up.

"There's a path that leads down this mountain to the left, then a bit in the woods... And we'll end up to a path that leads directly to Darnassus." He nodded. "Would you rather I lead you ?" He asked Caoin.

That had been scary, and even after they were out, Adi clung to Elik's back for a moment. Once she realized it was over, though, she sat up and started looking around, alert. How cool... "Where are we?"

"Tell me the paths to take, and I will take them," Caoin answered, beginning to walk as directed. Running between had tired him, and now that they were here and presumably safe, there was no need to bolt.

Yeah, Adi seemed to have liked this about as much as he had, and he saw no need to force the errais to be swift at all. The terrain was easy enough, and he doubted anything would trouble them on the way.

On the off-chance that something did, he could easily take care of it. "This is Teldrassil." He explained. "We're not so far from Darnassus, which is handy."

Really, if they'd landed in the middle of Stormwind this might have been... complicated.

"Over there." He pointed at a line of tree in the distance. "There's a path that goes left. It should be smooth enough for you to walk down." If there was fallen trees, well, he could clear them.

If they'd landed in the middle Stormwind, Adi would probably have been thrilled by all the people...although they would probably have been significantly less thrilled by the sudden arrivals from nowhere. She still had relatively little grasp on just how strange she could sometimes seem to others.

"This is Teldrassil? If I didn't already know it was a tree, I don't think I would!" That was awesome. A large part of her wanted to jump right off Caoin and go running off to explore, but...maybe later. They'd have time, right?

The erras went as directed. "The path should be no trouble. I am no stranger to rough terrain, regardless."

"I know, it doesn't look much like a tree itself, doesn't it ?" Hm. maybe he could take Adi down below, and show her. Down to the trunk, down to the roots. He could imagine the look on her face right now, and it made him smile.

"I can clear the debris for you if there's something in your way that you can't easily jump over." He offered. He certainly did not look like much, like this, but his bear form was strong enough to get rid of a lot of things...

"It really doesn't!" Though she'd been told how big it was, she'd never imagined anything quite like this. Behind him, she was incapable of being completely still, twisting to look this way and that and back again. "How far is it to Darnassus?" And more night elves and druids and awesome things.

"Thank you. I'll let you know." For now, all seemed well, and he picked his way easily enough over what little lay in the path.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 2:12 pm

"Hm..." He pondered. "Maybe about half an hour, give or take." At the pace they were going at right now, anyway. But there was no need to rush, not really - he was taking the sights as much as Adrienne was, through in a... calmer manner. Last he had been here, everything was withered, dying... And now... Now it almost seemed like if nothing had happened at all.

Almost. He could still see the signs, there and there, but greenery and nature had once again taken over where it had own lost, and the tree itself felt strong, thriving, and full of life... Which was such a sharp contrast compared to how the tree had been near death when Illisia and Glyph had come here.

It was a little hard to wrap his head around most of it.

"Oh, that's not long at all!" Which was probably a good thing, with such an excited werewolf on board. In her usual way, and fueled by her excitement, she chattered for the remainder of the trip, with questions about this thing and the other as they passed, unsurprisingly fascinated by the plants here. They were similar, in many ways, but also different.
