Rin was feeling rather achey after eating a few too many valentine cookies so she decided to grab a book on botany out of her room and head to common area to see if it was possible to sit and relax while letting her body digest. At least it seemed her neighbor was out doing his own thing so hopefully shouldn't be around to make her indigestion worse.
Good. It was quiet. She smiled at the empty area and made her way over to a big comfy love seat and curl up by the armrest with her book. Looking up every so often to seek any others who might show.
All in all, she might have also felt cooped up and needed to socialize a bit.

In the hallway of the Deus Ex Machina dorm building there sat a young man with short blonde hair that fell over his face in unruly slashes. Gale was seated exactly where he had been the time that Candace had tripped over him, but instead of drinking tea, this time he just had a bowl of ice cream, which he was slowly moving spoonfuls of into his mouth. His eyes were fixed on the papers in front of him, a pair of wire-rimmed reading glasses perched on the edge of his nose. It was quiet here, and Gale was rather comfortable.
The floor, unfortunately, was not nearly as comfortable. His legs were beginning to ache.
<< Why don't you go into your room? >>
Too boring.
<< The common room? >>
...okay, fine.
With a sigh, he heaved himself up, and, his eyes still focused on the papers, his other hand holding the bowl of ice cream, Gale made his way down the hall towards the common room. Since he was not really paying attention, he did not notice that there was someone else in the room when he arrived, not until he almost walked into the back of a couch. Only when Jinhai said << Stop. >> did Gale lift his gaze and realize that a young woman was slumped in the loveseat across from him.
"Oh," he said, stopping abruptly. "Er. Pardon me. I didn't realize anyone was here."

Rin had quietly watched him enter the room. Her face still hidden in her book but her gaze just barely peeking at him from the top edge.
It wasn't until he spoke though that she closed her book entirely to reply.
"It's okay. I'm pretty quiet." She replied while thoughtfully eyeing him up and down.
"I don't believe we've met?" Her tone turned vaguely curious and playful. She definitely would have remembered someone so small. Not that she was going to say that out loud.

Studying her with a vague sort of expression on his face, Gale tried to remember what her name was. He sort of recalled her from the pod room when there had been a good ten or so new hunters awakened - she was one of the Lambs.
"We have, actually," he said agreeably, taking another bite of his ice cream. "I was there when you awoke, but you probably don't remember me with all of the madness going on there. My name is Gale Gentry. You're...Rin, aren't you?"

"Oh." Was all she could think to say immediately as she sat her book aside. Stretching her legs out a bit more relaxed.
"That and I was having a bit of an identity crisis at the time." She confessed while eyeing him over again. Don't mention he's short, don't mention he's short, don't mention he's short. This was about all her inner monologue contained right now as she tried to force a bit of small talk unrelated to his height.
"Yes, Rin Alder. Pleasure to meet you under less... pressing circumstances." Though mid statement she happened to notice his ice cream and every part of her seemed to perk up immediately.
"What... what is that?" Coy as the question was. She knew damn well what it was and she wanted some.

Gale's brow furrowed with mild confusion. Identity crisis? he wondered, then tried to figure out if what she meant had to do with the strange, out-of-body sort of feeling one tended to have when first exiting the pod. It was like entering a new world, after all - a new, different, an altogether dangerous world, though they were still human beings and still on Earth.
"It takes a bit of getting used to, yes," replied Gale, and then took another bite of ice cream., swallowing slowly as he replied "Yes, well, unfortunately the circumstances are always going to be pressing around here. But a pleasure nonetheless."
He glanced down at his bowl, then lifted his gaze again.
"Ice cream," said Gale, in a very matter-of-fact tone of voice. "Why, did you want some from the kitchens?"
