Mounds of sands had given way to clumps of brown plants and flat ground. Animals and their tracks were everywhere. Compared to the sand duned desert of the Savannah, this was a teeming and crowded land. Maysa much preferred the sand dunes. The rolling desert and its hidden oases. Like secrets. Or treasures. An island amongst the sea of sand that was ever changing.

Then the sand dunes had been the home of her family before the poachers. And it had been the preferred home of Jael as well. But Maysa didn't want to be in the sand dunes anymore. She didn't want to be reminded everyday of the male she'd loved. They had gone their separate ways and that was that.

Looking around, Maysa decided to wait out the rest of the day here. When the twilight got closer, she'd be able to hunt easily with so many prey around. She could have her pick. A positive for the land she now traveled. Hunting wasn't as hard or challenging. Maysa settled down in the tall grasses and watched the prey meander about, deciding which animals to hunt later. Which would serve her coat and her life better?
