Ayumu wasn't exactly one to lay in bed all day but despite this she had spent most of her morning pent up in her den, planning her next move. She had made the decision not long ago to begin the path that would hopefully one day soon lead her to her goal of motherhood. Though admittedly she knew very little of how to actually begin. Ayumu was still uncertain if she would venture out into the rogue lands and find a willing male, which she knew from rumors that it probably wouldn't take very long at all to find some male who would be willing to give her what she wanted. Whether he knew it or not. Smiling a bit to herself as she made her way out of the dens area of the cliff and down the cliff face.
The idea of having small cubs trailing after her, filling their heads with tales and teaching them all the things in life they would need to know in order to survive. Well. It was hard to compare it to anything else. Then again, she knew that it would always be roses and sunshine. There would probably be times where she wondered what the heck she should do in such a situation, but her sisters would be there. And if not, well. She would figure it out on her own. Never though had it crossed her mind that she would find a male willing within the pride that wasn't already claimed to give her what she desired.
Finally when she reached the ground near the cliffs she sat down and looked around. What was she going to do next? How would she accomplish her goal? These thoughts and many more began to circle her head as she closed her eyes and thought.

Mkhai often thought of himself more as a father than one of the strapping males that fought amongst themselves. He knew well enough that were he to be challenged, especially by one of his sons, he would concede and return to the roguelands. The thought wasn't one that made him happy, but he knew it to be true. There wasn't much room in the pride for an aging male, no matter how much conviction he held to protect his own. But it hadn't happened yet. Many of his sons had chosen to leave the pride rather than fight for their position, and now his only daughter had chosen to go off on some half brained endeavor for fame. It made his head hurt just to think about it. He wasn't sure how well Tulia was handling it, he hadn't spoken to her in some time, but he knew it would be worse if she thought the way he did, that Samia would not be returning. It wasn't that he believed the girl wanted to hurt them, but he knew the roguelands well enough to know that a girl like her would easily succumb to some temptation or another. It was with all this clouding up his mind that he nearly stumbled over Ayumu at her resting place. Stopping a few yards from her he bowed his head respectfully, "I'm sorry to intrude, should I turn back?"

Lost in her own thoughts, Ayumu hadn't actually noticed the male approaching her until he spoke. Opening her eyes and blinking a couple times to let them adjust to the sunlight she turned her head and smiled. "No, it's alright. I wouldn't mind some company." Ayumu replied with a friendly voice as her tail patted the ground near her. "If you would like?" She asked, trying to imply that the decision was left up to him and what he wanted to do. As she waited for a response she took the chance to quickly look him over. She found his darker appearance to be quite the contrast to her own coat. As her eyes traced the small designs of color that lined his coat her smile only grew, her head filling with tales of what each line meant and why they were colored that way. Quickly though she snapped herself out of her daydreams. "What brings you out today?" Ayumu added, still in a friendly tone.

"Cub troubles," he said with a laugh as he settled down near her, "Well she's not a cub anymore, still a pain in my behind." He shook his head and forced a smile, "And you? You don't look the type to get down on life." Even though he wasn't looking to get entangled with another female he couldn't help but appreciate the markings on her. They were unique, certainly, not something he'd seen before. And she was local, that much he knew from his observations while the cubs were running about.

A light hearted laugh spilled from her lips as she looked at the dark male. "I've come to notice that children, no matter their age seemed to have their moments of trouble." She said with a nod. "Though, that's just and observation." Ayumu had to think about his next response for a moment before she gave her answer. "Well, if I am being honest. Then I would tell you I was contemplating the idea of hopefully soon finding a male willing to give me cubs of my own." She smiled once more. "But deciding how to go about that seems to be the most difficult notion." Ayumu sighed and flicked her tail to her opposite side and wrapped it around her front paw. "My name is Ayumu. What is your name?" She asked curiously.

"Mkhai," he returned, "I've got five of my own, one girl." He shook his head, thinking to himself that the girl had caused him more trouble than all the boys combined but that that wasn't a particularly good thought to voice in a matriarchal pride, at least not with a female he barely knew. Instead he just smiled, this time much more relaxed, "How many ways are there then?" It was meant as a joke but after he said it it sounded hollow. Females had their pick of the pride males, he knew, but he wasn't sure how many of the others she'd already discussed the subject with. In truth, he was curious.

"Mkhai, you are a very nice male and I'm sure one day your children will realize that the trouble they are causing you now will only come back on them twice as hard when they have cubs of their own." She admitted with a small shrug, still friendly. It was probably best for her to keep that opinion to herself, but she figured it might make the male feel a bit better to know that they will one day realize the wisdom behind his words. Although most other females in the pride probably wouldn't give him that. Then again she had joined up with her small troupe of lions, which had contained one male. So she was still getting used to the idea that males were not exactly on par with the females. "Well." She laughed slightly as she thought of how to best answer his next question. "Going out into the rogue lands sounds easy enough but I've come to realize the more I think about it the less easy it sounds." Ayumu sighed. "So through all of my planning I feel that I won't be fully prepared for what awaits me there. And what kind of male I may encounter. Though, I don't believe it will be hard to find a male to give me cubs. Whether he knows he is or not. Of course, the rumors could be wrong." A small frown finally made it's way to her maw as she looked back at Mkhai. "I'm rambling and ranting a bit aren't I?"

"No, not at all," he assured her while he shifted and looked back toward the dens. If he'd known what Samia was really getting herself into he might have taken offense to her words, but unfortunately he hadn't seen the girl since she'd left almost a week before. He paused, thinking about all of the things that had transpired in his youth in the rogue lands They could be a dangerous place, especially for an unaccompanied female. "Have you spent much time out there before?" he asked, considering that he might offer to accompany her. He was still a bit dense.

Ayumu lightly shook her head. "The time I spent out there alone was very brief. I found a friend, who found a group of females with one male as the leader and... We made our way here shortly after that." Ayumu nodded. "Before that I lived in my parents den and... More or less I was the sun and moon to them." She added with a sheepish look. "Have you lived in the rogue lands? Or were you born here?" She asked curiously, a fire igniting in her eyes.

"I was born here," he laughed, "A long time ago, but I spent a lot of my youth in the rogue lands. It can be dangerous out there, I know that well. It's good that you found a good stable group." He paused, pulling himself straight as her rolled his shoulders and let out a huff, "I can only hope Samia is that lucky, but that's a mess to be dealt with later. Have you enjoyed your time here then, since you're still here?"

"Oh." She said with a smile. "I suppose that might be a good place to learn skills to bring back to the pride." Ayumu nodded, though she was probably far off on the mark on why exactly this male would be out in the rouge lands in the prime of his youth. Not that he was particularly old now, just not as young as he probably was then. "Don't worry. I'm sure she is out there living it up." Ayumu told him with confidence even if she was entirely sure of how the lioness was doing in a land filled with wayward males. Then again, if that was the case she was certain she wanted to go there and fulfill her dream or quest.
"I love this pride. It's really a wonderful place." Ayumu grinned like a cub. "Hopefully soon I will be able to add to it's numbers." She said with a wistful sigh. This plan needed to work. Dulcea ((We could probably end it at your post if you want.))

"An honest aspiration," he told her with a deep laugh, "Our strength grows with our numbers, and the younger generation doesn't seem so inspired." Not that they wouldn't grow into the lifestyle in time, but with the population so small many of them seemed restless to move out into the roguelands and explore. Some would come back in time, he knew, but they couldn't rely just on returns. They'd need to keep their own at home as well. His own litter had hardly helped the situation any, only one female among them and she was more daft than anyone else he'd ever met. "I wish you the best in that endeavor, I think you'd make a fine mother, you've got a good head on your shoulders."

"My hope is that my litter will have a better thought process." She giggled. "Hopefully they see that this pride needs them just as much as any other." Ayumu looked up at the sky for a moment then back down at Mkhai. "Thank you. I only hope that you are right." She admitted. "Maybe one day you'll get another chance to be a father. I bet you'd make an even better one now that you have some more experience." Ayumu beamed him a smile one last time before she turned herself away. "I'll see you when I return." Ayumu said behind her as she walked. Now the adventure began.
