Eytucan was observing the cubs playing down below him. He was quiet, so they didn't know he was there. He figured it was better that way; as they usually got a bit frightened of him in their early days. He was observing the young daughter of Jube's, Ftxoaza. She was so very pale in fur and soft spoken; but adventurous and clumsy. He found that very funny, as her father was Toruk. He was last shadow. A strong warrior. He shifted so he could see them below, hiding in the dark.

Ftxoa was busy playing with the boy that was younger than her. His name was Awapo'Txur. He was funny cause he was brown; which was a color that stood out really bad in her home. She had him laying on the ground and she was 'performing the ceremonial burial rites she had been told about recently by her mother. "We send you Awapo to the spirits." She waved her paws over his form.

Awapo'txur lay there, thinking to himself why he was the dead one. That wasn't fair. He looked up at Ftxoa from behind his blue mane tuft and wriggled a bit. "Ftxoa..." He said her name quietly, not wanting to interrupt but really wondering why he was the one that was dead. "Ftxoa?" He wiggled a bit more, his white gloved paws flexing and his yellow eyes staring up at her. "Ftxoa why am I dead? I'm younger than you are... you'll die before I will..." He pointed out.

Eytucan laughed to himself, watching the two playing amongst one another. It was rather symbolic really, being as that they would probably be working side by side someday, as the little boy would be an acolyte and the girl would probably follow in her mother's footsteps. The little girl was pretty forward sometimes, but her quiet voice was hard to hear; yet here she was being loud and in charge and the boy was quiet. Much like his father in a way, Eytucan supposed. In fact, the boys father was a bit quieter than most. He was pietr's nephew, and the consort of the pride was quiet an awful lot too.

Eytucan looked down to the future Acolyte and smiled. This child was going t be the first of the pride to take that rank, and a very special rank it was. Not only was he spending more time with Eywa and the priestesses and priests than anyone else, he would not be allowed outside the home tree and other area's. It was too dangerous, to have a cub who would not blend in so perfectly well.

Ftxoa sort of ignored the boys mumblings and grabbed a pawful of dirt and held it to her muzzle and spoke to it, so quiet that even Eytucan could not hear. She opened a pale eye and then blew the dirt over the boys body. "Dirt to dirt, but your soul goes to the soul tree." She began to stomp around Awapo's form, sending little clouds of dust up from the rather warm season they were having. "Your soul will go with Eywa and your body will stay here. It will be put in a hole-" "But I don't want to be put in a hole" "-and we will eat a feast to remember you-" "I really don't wanna go in a hole." "-and we will sing for you."

Awapo frowned and sort of rolled over, when he realized his playmate was ignoring him. He swatted at her, though missed terribly. "Ftxoa!" He frowned and stuck his tongue out at her, sitting up and shaking off the dirt. "I don't want to be dead anymore."
"But you are the dead one... you can't be alive!" Ftxoa complained, trying to push him back down onto the ground but didn't do so well and toppled to the ground with her little legs flailing. "You have to be dead Awapo... pleeease!"

Eytucan chuckled to himself, watching them play. He hadn't had to bury anyone in a long long time, so hopefully he wouldn't have to ever watch this be done in real life. He chuckled, knowing some of the actual ceremony; as he had been present for a few in his life... he knew that that young lady was playing. Poor Awapo seemed to not be having fun anymore and was complaining, which was unusual but cute. Cubs were cute. He sighed and wondered if he and his mate would be ready for cubs again...

Perhaps...

Awapo made a face at Ftxoa and shrugged her off, making her fall sideways and onto the ground. He chuckled, glad that she was getting what she deserved, pretending he was dead was lame. He got up and walked over to a fallen log and began to attempt to climb it. "You are supposed to be dead Awapo!" She got up quickly and chased after him, her paws at his heels. She swatted at his tail and made any attempt to interrupt him and make him play with her. "Come oooooon."

He ignored her, kicking his paws irritatedly at her. "I don't want to play that game. I wanna climb." He said simply, trying his best to keep climbing without her snagging his feet and making him fall. "You can play the dead lion if you want to play that so bad."

"Pleeeeeeease Awapo... pleaase just for a liiiiiiiittle bit moooooore." She grabbed hold of a back leg and tugged on it, little watery tears starting to form on her cheeks, her pale eyes half lidded in her sorrow for not getting her way. "Please?! PLEASE PLEASE!"

He couldn't ignore her any longer and slipped, falling back onto his rump. He spun around to rebuke her, but lost his anger when he saw her tears. He sighed, standing up and giving her a soft shove, before walking back over to his 'ceremonial burial spot' and flopping down, with a soft dusting of soil. "Fine... I'm dead."

Ftxoa sprang up from her misery and ran over to him, sitting down and retaking a very professional and serious posture, making gestures over his body and mumbling quietly. She was sated to be playing her game again. "Here lies Awapo."

"Here I lie."

Eytucan watched the scene unfold and thought to himself the games he used to play with his brothers and sisters. He smiled, standing up on the branch and walking away quietly, to go talk to his mate about what he had witnessed the cubs playing. It was rather sweet and innocent play, but it made him nervous in a way... the whole death thing.
