Just like town, Meadowview hadn't changed a bit. But then there were no surprises there - very rarely did school budgets stretch to anything more than a few new textbooks or test tubes. She walked down the familiar corridors, unable to stop a smile twitching her lips. As much as she'd hated her last few weeks at the school, and as much as she'd conplained about it the rest of the time, she had missed this place. Her friends, the gossiping, the musty smell when you went to pull out a heat-proof mat from the ancient wooden cupboards. They said that school days were the best days of your life.

Selena had been surprised to receive the email from her old class tutor. She'd only been back in DC a week or so, but apparently news spread. She was even more surprised that they'd held onto her old ballet shoes for so long. Upon arriving in Arizona and realizing she'd left them she'd quickly been bought another pair and thought nothing more of it. But receiving the email had instilled in her a sudden longing to reclaim them again. There were memories attached to them, and she wanted them back.

Glancing to the right - that had been her locker - she smiled. It probably would have been a better idea to watch where she was going, though.

Anming had just come from her locker at the same time Selena passed through the hall, incidentally. It had been a relatively normal day, for once in what seemed like such a weird month so far- she'd even been complimented during Home Ec for how her cookies turned out- which was... nice, to say the very least. If that trend could continue, maybe she could pretend that, well, things were normal again!

Now if only she could stop with this trend of meeting people in the clumsiest ways possible, though it hardly seemed like that was likely at the moment, as Anming (belatedly) realized she was about to collide with someone else.

"Aiyah- watch out!" she warned, though it was really far too late for that.

There was a shout, and the blonde just about managed to turn her head so she could see the face of the girl she was at this moment walking into. Caught by surprise, Selena stumbled backwards, just about managing to prevent herself from crashing down onto the floor. She could really do without any broken limbs, thank you - not that this was anyone's fault but her own.

Once she had regained her balance and ensured she could stand up straight, Selena turned her steely-blue eyes to the brunette she'd crashed into. The younger girl's hair was a really pretty shade of brown, and for a moment Selena regretted her decision to go blonde. Only for a moment, though - she loved her blonde hair. "Ohmyword, I'm so sorry!" She rushed forwards to steady the girl, cheeks flushed a bright pink in embarrassment, "I really need to look where I'm going. Are you alright?"

She cast a gaze around the immediate area, checking if the student might have dropped anything than she could fetch.

"No, it's alright, you don't need to apologize," Anming said, always feeling a bit guilty herself when people did that. After all, at least half of the time Anming was pretty sure half of the blame fell on her as well, really, or at least some portion of it. "I'm alright, but thank you for your concern."

Polite as always, even after being ran into by someone. If it was one thing about Anming, it was that it was hard for her to be rude to someone, let alone disrespectful. As Selena looked around for Anming's things, so too did Anming, looking for her book on butterflies that she had checked out from the library.

She most certainly did need to apologise - if she'd been watching where she'd been going then this embarrassing incident wouldn't have happened. Fetching a few items from the floor and turning back to the dark-haired girl, Selena inspected the hard-covered book she'd just picked up. It was tattered, with a library sticker on the front, partially obscuring a rather beautiful picture of a large blue butterfly.

"You like animals?" Selena didn't have a particular passion for them, but she challenged anyone to not coo and fuss over a cute little puppy. "Or just butterflies?" She felt somewhat obliged to start a conversation after rudely interrupting the girl, although for all she knew the other party might be in a huge hurry.

"I like small animals, mostly," Anming admitted, "but I really like butterflies most of all."

Maybe that was why she was the senshi of butterflies. Or maybe it was why she liked butterflies. ... Either way! She liked butterflies a lot, and Anming couldn't help but almost ramble about them.

"They're really pretty, and I always like watching them- have you ever been to the butterfly garden at the Smithsonian? I went last year, and I hope I can go again. It was really nice, getting to see so many butterflies up close."

Selena had to agree - whilst large animals could often be majestic and beautiful, they were so much more trouble than the smaller species. And she'd take a little kitten over a massive dog anyday. Butterflies were exceptionally small though, and so delicate. It seemed silly to make something so beautiful so fragile - it meant you didn't have long to appreciate the beauty before it was then gone.

The butterfly garden? "I had the chance to go on a school trip when I was little, but I couldn't make it." She remembered being gutted, watching how excited everyone else was about going while she was forced to attend the funeral of a great-great aunt thrice removed or something or other. "I'd love to go someday."

Looking at what the girl was already carrying, and what she was about to load on top of that, Selena flashed a smile, "Do you want some help carrying all of this to your locker?"

"That's too bad; I hope you can go someday," Anming told Selena, definitely hoping the other girl could. Anming herself hoped to go again someday, if she could save up enough to go on her own- she was old enough to, after all.

At the offer of help, Anming... almost declined, not wanting to trouble Selena too terribly, but in the end, if she was offering... it wouldn't hurt, would it?

"That would be appreciated, if it's not too much trouble for you."

Trouble? Selena smiled warmly, shaking her head. "No trouble at all!" She took a few moments respositioning everything she was carrying so as to make it an easier load, she then looked to Anming expectantly, following when indicated.

"I don't actually go to school here," the blonde continued, though she quickly realized how strange she sounded. "Not anymore, anyway. I was a student here...two years ago?" She still needed to go fetch her ballet shoes off of the headmaster...she'd go after this.

"Thank you," Anming said, and proceeded to lead the way to where her locker was, listening as Selena talked. So she had been a student here two years ago...? She must have graduated, then, or transferred schools- Anming knew it wasn't her place to ask, and so she didn't. Reaching her destination, Anming took her books back from the other girl, placing them inside her locker once she got it open.

"Thank you again for your help," she said, not wanting to keep Selena from doing whatever it was she had come here for any longer. "I need to get going now, but it was nice to speak to you."

And with that, Anming closed her locker, and headed off to her next class.
