En Gedi Metaplot II
Meta Phases:
1 ... “Hate’s Curse”
Open to rogues and contest characters only! Nelly has seen that the En Gedi is left without its guardian god, Li Wei, but the blessing around the lands remains behind, preventing him from setting foot within the territory. However, there are many rogues in the area, all burdened with a seed of contention, that he can use in his stead. These rogues begin feeling unusually resentful of the pride that had only just recently taken control of the Blue Nile Falls area. They feel themselves drawn to the same meeting place and discuss what’s to be done about these invaders…

2 … “A shadow of a threat”
One of the pride’s scouts has noticed an unusually large group of rogues gathering at the border of the pride. When the group begins moving in, the scout raises a call of alarm. The warriors are forced to respond to defend their pride against this incoming threat. This rp is open to En Gedi members only and will begin with the call to arms and end with waiting for the rogues at the border.

3 … “Clash”
The rogues and the pride members meet head to head on the border. Here words can be exchanged but now that the warriors have set foot outside of their lands, the rogues have the upper-hand with their god’s curse clinging to their hearts. A conflict breaks out. During this battle, the goddess of messengers oversees the chaos and flees to warn Li of the threat.

4 … “The Stand”
Li returns swiftly but remains weak from granting his blessing to a distant pride. Winded, exhausted, and impulsive, the god tries to stand himself between the warring sides of the conflict. This is the chance the rogues have been waiting for! Li is hardly a fighter and just the smell of blood is enough to weaken him. The rogues use this to their advantage and cast the godling aside and make their assault on the pride’s king, Rotem. The rogues easily over-power the tiny god of peace and leave his broken body in the dust and turn their angry gaze on the now rattled En Gedi pride. However…something starts to come over them. Even broken and battered, Li’s presence is a calming one and begins to conflict with the rage seething within the rogues. (We may or may not have Nelly participating in this part of the meta. This is where things will start to go a little more freestyle. We’ll update this section if Shinos’ personal life can calm enough for her to participate!)

RP 1:
OOC Info:
◘ This is mostly for the new contest characters! Any hopeful rogues that wish to join are more than welcome to participate. This can count as your joining role play if you want to get your characters certed early. Just remember- towards the end of the metaplot there will be a new rank available- the Guardian. This rank is open for both males and females. Males will essentially work with the warriors and females will work with the hunters, but the title of Guardian is an especially honorable one and will grant the family line a lot of respect among the pride. If you want to wait until your character becomes a guardian to be certed that’s fine, but this rank is only available through this metaplot and only if your character is roleplayed in obtaining the rank!

◘ There is no posting order and there is no set format. The first roleplay is set shortly after Nelly’s curse has been placed over the rogues in the area. Ideally, this interaction will involve all the contest characters and joining rogues banning together and naming a leader or leaders among them to begin their invasion. There will be an in-pride RP responding to the incoming threat shortly after.

◘ This rp will be open for one week! This means that on Friday, February 17th this thread will come to a close so we can move onto the next part of the meta. If the rp doesn’t wrap up nicely I will be writing a ‘summery’ that will lead us into the next phase. If a summery cannot be written the meta may be extended a bit but I don’t want this to be a terribly lengthy affair!

◘ Please note that the pride is blessed with Peace’s Prosperity. This prevents any gods that hold a domain that could harm the pride (plague, famine, etc.) from entering. You can play a god in this situation, and you can play an evil domain but they’ll have to keep their distance from the territory.

◘ The plot format is very loose! If you have an idea you’d like to toss in please PM the mule and we’ll be glad to discuss it.

Zoura ignored the persistent groaning and pinching of her gut as she trudged on. Up above the sky rumbled with the threat of yet another storm. The birds had fallen silent and sat huddled in the trees that patched the valley and much of the game had clustered into tight, protective herds or had moved on with the very real threat of flooding from the swollen river. She had failed three times that day to catch any game, twice the day before, and had managed only to trap a meerkat in its den the day before that. Her party of three had been largely unsuccessful and now walked in miserable, hungry silence.

She was a lioness just a few years past her prime but no less capable on the hunt. At least normally. The rains had made the ground uneven, spongy, and difficult to trudge through. Running was made all the more difficult when the ground sucked her paws down into mucky holes and had her sliding on patches of mud and wet grass. Zabra was inexperienced as a hunter and was often left to flush the prey while she and Chizoba attempted to bring one of the beasts down.
Zabra Walked in between the two older lionesses, her ears rolled back and her eyes narrowed. She could feel the storm in the air, smell it on the wind, and taste the moisture with every breath. It had rained off and on but this storm felt…different somehow.

“We should try to find some shelter…”, she offered quietly.

Chizoba hackled and raised her head as the clouds above flashed with a quick, blue light. The fur along her back and neck rose up and sent a chill down her shoulders. “I don’t know if that would be wise… the sky-fire is attracted to anything that stands above the ground.”

Zoura drew in a deep breath and opened her mouth to answer only to grunt and flinch back. Both females behind her hissed and swore as something pricked at them. The lands had a strange, unworldly weight to them. Their exhaustion seemed to deepen, their hunger seemed to gnaw at their empty stomachs further, and all their frustrations seemed to come to a boil. The failed hunts, the long walk, the incoming storm, and the very real threat of sky-fire all seemed to magnify themselves just moments after they had crossed a shallow stream.

“Stop your whining…”, Zoura grunted, her maw creasing as she pushed forward.

Lucky for the two, they managed to push themselves through everything. Their bellies held a good few hares they had managed to get before the skies had gotten too terrible. However the rain was starting to show signs of lasting awhile, and they needed to get out of it. If there was one thing that irritated Adhira it was the rain.

"We have to get inside.." She said, her ears flicked back as she kept her head low to keep droplets of water from her eyes. Her brother rolled his eyes, not really walking any differently because of the rain. Water didn't bother him too much.. That, and his sister didn't like it much. If he was good at swimming and all that other stuff, he was already a step ahead. The thought brought a grin to his maw and he chuckled.

"What is so funny?" She asked, throwing her head back to stare daggers into his soul. She wasn't in the best of moods right now, and he wasn't making it any better.

"You are. What is so bad about the rain? Are you melting? I don't think you are. You may smell a tad but you aren't melting." He teased, and his eyes narrowed as he grinned.

She growled, her hackles rising and she felt that burning desire rising into her throat to swat him right in his smug face. However she kept herself from doing that with a roll of her eyes.

"If you think you smell any better, Adhiva, then you are stupid." She answered, and turned to keep walking.

xxxxxThunder boomed in the sky overhead, threatening to bring its full wrath down on anyone who dared to stand directly below it. The on and off rain had been nothing but a nuisance. The ground was impossible to trudge through and it was almost impossible to go uphill when gravity pushed you back down, but there Kafziel was, trying to push his way up a slippery hill in the middle of a downpour. He knew it was kind of pointless to keep trying, but he was not going to give up. Kaz was a lion who knew what he wanted and would go a million miles out of his way to achieve it. It took him a while, but surely, the lion made it. His dark form was soaked, but it hardly made him look any smaller. His massive figure was one that was always prominent. His deep blue eyes could see everything from his positioning on the hill. Everything being a pair of two identical lions and a trio of lionesses.

xxxxxKaz could hardly keep the grin off his face. He hated being alone. But there was company! His powerful hind legs shoved him into a slow run toward both groups of lions. He could have gone faster, of course. But he hardly wanted to seem too eager. For all they knew, he could have been an attacker. Realizing this, he slowed himself even more into a trot. Directly toward the two identical lions. He often blended in best with smaller groups, but he loved being around as many lions as possible. "Hello!" he shouted after them. He slowed to a walk, shoulders swinging as he made his way. Recently, he had been filled with a certain hatred. And from what he had heard the femme saying, she seemed to be much the same.

She had noticed the change in her temper. She couldn't tolerate much anymore, without simply wanting to hit something. She wasn't angry so much as easily annoyed. It had become something of a fault. But she pushed the thought from her mind, as Adhiva stood on her tail. She growled, turning on her heels and sending a claw flying his way.

Adhiva barely had time to dodge the swing, but somehow he managed to. He hadn't expected her to jump at him that way. But then again both of them had been so easy to anger, almost like a hornets nest. He frowned, pushing himself just out of reach.

"Geez, take everything so seriously, why don't you.." He glared. She kept the look of annoyance on her face, the growl still present in the baring of teeth.

"Just don't push it, Adhiva. Not today." She warned. Her green orbs widened when she saw the male running towards her. She wasn't familiar with him, and so she looked more surprised and dropped most of her angry tone.

"Hello." Adhira responded, though Adhiva turned and frowned at him.

Zabra raised her head and rolled her ears forward. There was another sound on the wind... It whispered under the rolling thunder above and opened an invitation away from the storm. Not that the other two would be entirely happy with another mouth, or...two? Three?

"Hey...", the young lioness piped in, ceasing a sharp retort from Chizoba. Pointing a paw forward she frowned. "I hear others talking."

Zoura raised her head and flattened her ears. Others. Others could mean a pride was nearby and they'd happened upon the border of a pride without knowing it or there were other rogues lost in the storm. At the moment, the safety of a group was sounding better than having to shiver another rainy night away with only the three of them.

"We proceed carefully." She announced, glancing back to the two younger females. Both Chizoba and Zabra nodded their understanding and followed along behind Zoura.

Chizoba flinched as her gut rolled again and her mind reeled. Something wasn't right about these lands... more and more she began to realize the things she'd worked so hard to ignore over the last few days. Little silly things were starting to irritate her, sounds and smells, tones of her companions' voices and their overall situation. The notion of interacting with perfect strangers didn't sit too well with her either.

They crested a small hill and over-looked a trio of other lions. One female and two males.

"You don't think it's a pride do you?"

"No...", Zoura shook her head firmly. "I don't think so..."

xxxxxKafziel cocked his head at the pair that he had approached. They had to be twins. They were far too similar to be related in any other way! He was about to ask, but the female spoke to him. Something he hadn't exactly been expecting. It caught him by surprise, which was probably quite evident from the look upon his face. The male looked at his companion with a frown, as though it had been a bad idea to speak to him. And because of that, Kaz felt more compelled to befriend them. He was about to introduce himself, but it was then that the three lionesses caught sight of them. He waved his tail in greeting, letting them know that he was more than happy to have them come over. The more company, the better. Loudly enough so that everyone could hear, he introduced himself.

xxxxx"My name is Kafziel, but you may call me Kaz." The brute bowed his head and smiled, hoping not to seem too thrilled about the situation. "Do any of you belong to the pride here?" As he said those words, he cringed. The pride was not among his most favored things. In fact, they were occupying one of the most beautiful places in Africa. He felt himself growing angry - beyond irritated by the lions who seemed to do not good. It was unlike him to be so cruel, but he did not even notice that change. He shook his head, the fluff of mane growing into a messy fluff around his body. This meeting seemed more like fate than anything else. And it was all too strange.

Why'd she'd felt the need to travel here, so close to Hasan's accident, Irit had no idea, but Irit was. And now there were other lions about. More hunters. Less meat for her daughters. Less room for them. Less and less of what belonged to them. But Irit felt that it was worse to have that pride around. They ate more and more. They took up more and more space. Space that she and Hasan had found. Had claimed. It belonged to her daughters. It was the pride that she'd seen days ago settling in that was the threat. Not these lions.

Irit had hidden her daughters near by in a hallow close by. She had too. If she hadn't kept her daughters close to her this day, Irit didn't think she'd be able to keep from edging ever closer to Hasan. Her sweet Hasan. His ghost stood behind her somewhere guarding their daughters. The only guardian they've had from the moment she'd taken up Hasan's reigns. His role. Since his death. His accident. The end of her life.

She joined the group of lions, keeping her distance as much as possible. But still letting them know she was a part of the group. For whatever reason they had been drawn here. And away from that damned pride, the encroachers. She HATED them. Hated them for her daughters, for their ease of life in their territory. That pride needed to go.

"I am Irit. None here is from that pride. Gluttonous and greedy pride." Irit confirmed, her muzzle forming a silent snarl as she thought about them eating the meat that should be in her beloved daughter's stomachs.

She had been willing to give the dark colored male a chance, until he asked if they belonged to the pride here. Her face took a look of distaste, and she frowned. Did she look like she belonged in the pride that had her truly wanting to rip it into shreds? She wasn't even really sure -why- she didn't like it. She assumed it had something to do with competing for the lands. But if that were the case, why was she not feeling like she wanted to rip these lions apart?

"No. Thankfully Adhiva and I belong to no pride. We belong to ourselves. You'd best not ask that again." She warned. She was sure he wouldn't, but if she didn't say anything and then he did, she would be at fault.

Adhiva frowned again, but this time it was because his eyes were landing on quite a few newcomers. It had him nervous, but thankfully he wasn't against meeting others. Though if they thought they were better than him they'd best think again. Only one even close was Adhira, and even then, she wasn't as great as he was.

"What is with this group meeting? It's like we were all drawn here. Its creepy and it pisses me off." Adhiva said, his voice low as if he was trying not to be too loud.
Adhira rolled her eyes again, obviously something she was fairly good at.
"I swear you sound stupider each time you open your mouth. Perhaps its a good idea to keep your thoughts to yourself, hmm?" She asked, though her voice was a bit full of venom.

Her firey emerald gaze looked back at the blue eyed stranger and she let her eyes cool a bit.
"I am Adhira. This is Adhiva." She motioned with her paw tot he burly twin.

Kayitz walked quickly behind her mother, struggling to match her pace through the thick mud. Her previously creamy paws were covered in globs of deep, brown mud. It sucked her in on every step, making it tougher and tougher for the tiny cub to keep up with her family. Glancing up, Kayitz managed to catch a glimpse of her mother's expression. Irit seemed full of angst and anger. Rolling her eyes slightly, Kayitz caught herself and huffed. She wasn't supposed to be taken by the gloomy mood her mother had been in. That wasn't like her! Instead, she took to purposefully tripping over her own "clumsy" paws and landing in the mud, falling behind but giggling like mad all the same. Her deep pink eyes flashed about, hoping for a reaction from one of her sisters. They were all each in their own state of terribleness, and Kayitz was hoping to relieve some of their tension with her antics.

After all, it wasn't fair that this storm was making everyone so cranky. All the adults around her were furry balls of tension and to Kayitz, it just didn't see right. So she wanted to do everything she could to ease the minds of at least her siblings, just so she felt a little better. The tension apparent in the adults was rubbing off on her and obviously her siblings, and there was no way she would stand by idly while everyone's mood dipped considerably. She had to entertain! It was her birth duty, after all.

Ahava's stomach dipped uncontrollably as her mother spoke out about the pride. Her eyes flurried towards her sister Kayitz as she skittered to her. "Ma told us not to be out here!" She said and then saw their mother's snarl. Greedy pride. Ahava had heard her mother snarl.

Her heart pained. Had they gone mad? Why would they think of any kind of pride-issue at a time like this! She could be hunting for anyone's sake. Worry pitched her heart heavily. Almost frantic, she moved quickly to Kayitz' side when she had pitched over her paws in a 'clumsy' matter.

"What'sthematter?Areyouok!?ohmygoodness!" Ahava said in a flurry and her heart pumped heavily. Hoping at a time like this her sister wasn't hurt!

Everything was happening fast, others were talking! Oh god, really. Had mother included OTHERS in this mess? She was beginning to over think her mother's position, Irit had finally lost her mind it had seemed.

Kayitz rolled her eyes. "Ahava, calm down! I'm fine!" She burrowed her muzzle in the mud and flicked some up at her worrisome sister, immediately regretting it once some seeped into her mouth. The mud completely covered her paws, maw, and stomach now, coating her fur in deep, gross filth. Despite all of this, she laughed, grinning wildly at her sister. Kayitz couldn't, for the life of her, figure out what was going on with everyone. Ahava was biting her nails over every little thing that happened, stressing over even the tiniest of things. One false sound and she started fretting, and for what reason? Nothing was wrong, other than the yucky weather and the emptiness in their tummies. Smile softening, Kayitz splashed at the ground with her paw. "You've nothing to be worried about, Ahava! Mommy'll find us food soon, I'm sure of it! And the mud isn't all that bad - It's actually kind of fun!" Her eyes slid over to her sister, hoping she was reassuring her in some way as she felt more mud splash in droplets upon her face. Glancing up, she was glad to see that rain would soon wash away the thick goop that was beginning to harden on her jaw. If there was anything Ahava had to worry about, it was the uncomfortable feeling of dried mud in the fur! Absolutely nothing was worse, Kayitz thought, than that gross crusty feeling of rock hard dirt clinging to your fur.

Zoura led her small band forward, cautious and tense. It seemed other rogues from the surrounding area had been drawn to this place. It was like a poison lingered in the air. Dangerous, painful, but somehow intoxicating. It was impossible to ignore, impossible to resist. The other females behind her tensed up but followed along in silence, their eyes narrowed in suspicion and their ears perked to listen.

Gluttons? Greedy lions? The lioness tipped her head and regarded the little cubs clustered at the lioness’ feet. She took a moment to glance towards the males gathered around. None of them looked even remotely close to the little ones. Perhaps the father was about somewhere?

Chizoba, even the impulsive one, lifted her head as one of the twins muttered something to their sibling. Rather than jump right in with introductions she piped in, her cautious eyes sweeping over to the siblings. “…I feel the same thing.”

She glanced back to her companions, both Zoura and Zabra looked at her, stunned that she’d spoken up.

Swallowing anxiety, she glanced to the others. “…it feels like…we were brought here.”

Zabra’s maw twisted into a wince but she nodded her agreement. Something just felt…heavy. Different, strange, almost unworldly. “…are you…all from this area? We’re just a trio of vagabonds.”

Irit kept her distance from the strangers. They may not be from the pride and so felt no adimostiety towards them, but she still didn't like other's company. She couldn't truely focus in on Hasan with others around. She had to stay alert for her girls. They were the only things left to her, the only ones that mattered in the entire world. And they didn't threaten the girls' existence.

Irit looked at each of the strangers' faces and eyes and tried to hold the names that had been given already, but they were lost. They were not her beloved mate or her darling daughters and so, she could not keep the names in her memories. But she would keep their eyes and faces for as long as she was willing to live. Which could be for awhile. Even though Hasan seemed to be impatient at times. More so since the pride came closer.

Hasan's impatience intensified her own. Especially while dealing with others that were not apart of Hasan.

"My mate and I settled here a while back. Long before my cubs were born. I have no memory of the pride's existence in this area until after Hasan died." Irit revealed quietly. When she wasn't focused on the pride, the anger and hate she felt towards them faded and the grief of Hasan's death quieted her voice.

Grief always stole her strength, so Irit didn't want to say more. Couldn't without feeling the burden of living press down upon her so much more. She sat on her haunches.

For whatever reason, Irit was compelled to be with this group. And to actually all but welcome them into what was once her and Hasan's home.

Whatever it took to get that pride to leave.

Chizoba's maw twisted into a thoughtful grimmace as she glanced back towards the valley. it was a lush place full of soft grass, clean water, and it likely held a bounty of prey when the sky was more settled. Of course it likely suffered from seasonal flooding as well- which made living here a little difficult. "That's not too strange... prides sometimes migrate when their resources are tapped."

"And that taps into the resources of the locals." Zoura pointed out sharply. "It's not right that they can just move in here and bully their neighbors out of a territory..."

"It's not really our business-" Chizoba piped in, only to earn a scolding snarl from the elder lioness.

"We've not eaten in days..." Zabra pointed out.
