This is a private RP for Roniel Targaryen and Nisshou H featuring:
The lovely Carmine, the silent Wolf, Lorenna (who didn't want a cool title), the vicious Othelia (really? vicious?), the shifty Beryl, the speedy Slipsand and the enigmatic Xelloss.
Also with the familiars Raven, Khaa, and Sio

"It all started with a rumor. A whisper on the wind that there was something to the southeast of headquarters. A strange forest with colorful beasts and trees that scrape at the stars. It was not the unusual trees or creatures that caught my attention though. Nope. It's what they say is inside the forest. There's something out there, weird stone places that humans built and everyone knows what that means!

"Treasure! Yep, treasure. The stuff humans make is always the best. It shines more and if it's shiny it's gotta be good! That's why we're going to go to the jungle and find the human stuff and take it all! There's bound to be a lot so I'm gonna need help and that's what you're all doing here today!"

Carmine grinned at her friends gathered in the cluttered cave that served as the UnderGround's headquarters. Really they had a lot of 'stuff' already but more couldn't hurt. Carmine liked to collect things and Lorenna had told her once that humans where she had come from collected things to show that they were better than the others. Carmine liked this idea as she already had quite a large collection of objects and Carmine was definitely better than the majority of soquili. Getting more from the jungle would probably make her the best soquili out there! It was perfect!

At first Lorenna wasn't entirely sure what to make of Carmine's little story slash mission briefing. Then she remembered exactly who she was dealing with: Carmine. Their so-called fearless leader had a penchant for dramatics. Lorenna wasn't sure the girl could stand to be out of the center of attention for more than a few seconds. She idly wondered, as Carmine continued her rambling, whether the mare's head would simply implode if she wasn't given some form of attention for a long enough period of time.

She let out a quiet, bemused laugh at the mental image her brain supplied before tuning back in. Carmine was finally wrapping it up.

"This is all good and well, Carmine." She said stepping out of her place between a small pile of furs and another of woven baskets. "But why are you telling us all of this again?" She fixed the pink maned mare with a bored look. Everyone in the UnderGround had already heard her plan at least once, Lorenna had heard it seven times, and even a few unwanted visitors had caught wind of it. True, this was the first time she had told the whole story in one go for all of them, but that did not change the facts. Everyone knew what was going on even if Lorenna didn't want them to know.

"It was my understanding that we were meeting to go over the route briefly before departing." It would be wonderful if one of these days they would meet and actually accomplish what the meeting was for in a timely manner. Not that the story of how Khaa overheard some cerynei twit babbling over what she found in the south wasn't fascinating but there was no point in hearing it repeatedly.

The more times that Slipsand heard the story the more excited she got about it. Her tail wagged behind her energetically and she clambered on top of a pile of objects so she was more on height with Carmine. "Are there going to be lots of dangerous animals there? I heard a story once about a giant cat with spots that could eat soquili. Do you think we might run into one of them?" Instead of being frightened at the idea, Slipsand looked like she was highly anticipating such a meeting.

"And are we really bringing Xelloss with?" Slipsand blinked over at the kalona then back at Carmine. She had been around Othie for long enough without harm to have gotten desensitized to kalonas. She thought of Xelloss like any other soquili. He was obnoxious, but also could bring by great fun sometimes. She looked forward to having him around for the trip. He might screw things up for them a little but everything would be a lot more interesting with him around.

In her mind's eye Slipsand could already see the piles of treasure they would find. Mountains of gold... ancient relics... the sky was the limit for an adventure like this!

"Veeeeeery interesting! No matter how many times we hear about it, it only gets more intriguing!" He said it all in a cheerful enough tone, but the sarcasm wasn't terribly subtle. Xelloss genuinely wanted to get going on this trip but he was getting bored of hearing the advertisements for it. He had a few motives for wanting to tag along, some more innocent than others. He was partially motivated by curiosity. He was a fairly adventurous soquili and had never been to a human temple before. Also, he had spent a good amount of time in the jungle in his early years. Many of the ancient mazoku lords made their lairs there, including his master, Lord Beastmaster.

He had no reason to believe that Beastmaster or any of the others were out and about but was just nostalgic enough to feel like checking. His last motivation was the darkest one. He had recently been involved in an assault on a herd and had managed to kill one of the mares within it. On the off chance that there were vengeful relatives out there looking for him, he wanted to be far out of town for a while.

"Should we talk about shares yet?" he asked. "Not that I'm not fond of you all, but I'd rather not toss my things into a communal pot."

Othelia finally took interest in the conversation at Slipsand's energetic mention of giant cats. "Soquili eating cats?" The very idea of being prey was laughable to her. She wouldn't be eaten by a cat. "If there are any..." She said stepping closer to Carmine and Slipsand. "Then they will be the ones to worry." She flicked her tail and smiled a bit arrogantly before glancing over to Xelloss, the only other kalona she knew. Nothing had been set in stone about Xelloss joining their group temporarily but he seemed like he wanted to go. And really, if Xelloss wanted to go who exactly was going to stop him? Othelia was not the least bit worried about him coming along. It would be a nice change for her to have a fellow predator along. The birds did not count, they were scavengers feasting off the work of others.

Lorenna bristled visibly at the notion of Xelloss tagging along. That was the last thing they needed. That kalona was trouble and nothing but it. He showed up when he wasn't needed and left when he might actually be of some use. He was dangerous, even more so than Othelia, because there was absolutely no telling what he was thinking. At least if Othelia was going to hurt something that thing knew what she was up to. Besides that he actually had functioning wings and none of them were trained for aerial combat. If Carmine took wing it was to get away quickly not to fight.

Unfortunately, from the sounds of it, he was already planning on coming along and getting a share. She wouldn't have it. The question had been posed to Carmine but she wasn't about to let it slide by without voicing her opinion or rather her ruling.

"We absolutely will not." She said firmly marching over to Xelloss giving him an angry look. "There's no point discussing shares because you are absolutely not coming!" And that was that. Or it would have been if anyone had a lick of sense in this organization if that word could even be used to describe the UnderGround.

Slipsand's enthusiasm was exactly what Carmine had been hoping for. "Oh yeah, sure, lots of scary critters!" She didn't really want to meet one herself but if that's what got Slipsand going then she'd keep her mouth shut. "Right Othie, you can kill anything!" She said glad that she was coming with them. Man eating cats sounded like those shape shifting monsters that attacked and she never wanted to run into one of those. Her mind drifted away as she thought over those creatures. It was odd that they would scare her when kalona didn't scare her.

Her mind returned when she heard Lorenna practically shouting at a certain kalona visitor. What was this about shares? She'd been ignoring Xelloss's sarcasm in favor of Slipsand's genuine excitement. She must have missed a question. It didn't seem that Lorenna had the selective ears that Carmine had though.

"Huh?" She blinked coming back to attention. "Sure Xelloss can come if he wants to." Carmine said matter-of-factly. "But what's this about shares?" She didn't like that word. That meant she got less.

"Wait, we have to do shares?" Beryl peered out from behind the pile of broken human weaponry she had been inspecting. She frowned and flicked her tail disapprovingly. "I'm keeping anything I take." She wasn't about to go knee deep into danger and work her wings off for someone else's benefit. Normally she might be willing to do something like that, but an adventure was a special occasion! She thought that it was only fair that they have special rules for a special trip.

A sly look came over her. If they were going to demand that she gave up all that she took then she'd just have to find a way to hide it from them. She really had no idea how she was going to manage to keep anything hidden when they were on the road and she had no pockets, but she resolved to brainstorm ways. Maybe she could layer things under Sio's wooly coat...

"Xelloss is definitely coming, then!" Slipsand proclaimed. She felt fully qualified to make this statement because she couldn't imagine why anyone would pass up a trip into excitement if offered. That would be like turning down an offer of a free apple, just silly! She grinned at Xelloss and happily ignored the unenthused look on Lorenna's face.

"There's going to be lots of water on the way, right?" She suddenly knit her brow with worry. "What if we get stranded and I can't find any? I'll dry out!" She'd once gone several days without being in water but had been nearly incoherent and had been barely able to stagger around at the end of it.

Lorenna gave Xelloss a distinctive 'I blame you' look. It was entirely likely that someone would have brought up the topic of who gets what at some point or another but she'd been expecting to breech the subject later into the trip when everyone was too tired to argue over it. She exchanged looks with Carmine and it was clear enough that their leader was expecting her to solve things.

That meant that Carmine expected her to figure out how to get Carmine as much as possible without upsetting anyone else. Wonderful. It didn't take her long to come up with a solution but she figured they might go for it. If they didn't there was always the usual 'I need to think things over' answer she usually dealt out.

"Everyone gets two bags, except you." She gave Xelloss a pointed look. If he was tagging along she wasn't going to make things easy on him to rip them off. "You only get one bag." She cleared her throat and redirected her attention back to the actually members. "These bags fit easily around the neck or can be carried in the mouth if needed. Now, one bag is your bag and one bag is the UnderGround's bag. For anything that you put in your bag you must also put something of relative value in the UnderGround's bag. You get to choose which bag is yours, what you take and how much you take. Does that sound fair to everyone?"

She looked about the group trying to read their faces and hoping no one complained over the deal. It was a better one they normally got at the very least. They just had to use sense to only take as much as they could carry.

Wolf glanced at Raven. Her share would also end up being his share as he was her bird, that didn't bother her, she didn't really have a use for the shiny things he loved. She also understood exactly what this meant. If she wanted to fill her bag she'd have to fill the other too. That would get heavy fast. Beryl had a distinct advantage with a buffalo to haul the load.

Oh well.

She nodded her head to signal to Lorenna that she was for the deal before turning to Slipsand. "Raven was one of the scouts." She said. "There's water along the way."

Raven cackled from his perch on Wolf's shoulder and nodded in agreement. "Yessum. Lots and lotsa water for the half fish!" He fixed her with a particularly amused and slightly malicious look. "Even if they're just big puddles!" He clicked his beak delightedly before cackling and flapping off to perch on a wicker basket by Khaa to avoid getting knocked off his shoulder by Wolf. She didn't always take his cruel jokes well. Always so to the point.

"He's lying." Wolf said without sounding particularly convincing.

Carmine looked hurt at the idea of losing half of all their findings but that was nothing compared to the upset look on her face as Wolf gave away how she'd found their path early. "Wolf! That was for later..." She mumbled before sulking. That was a story she hadn't actually shared yet. She'd been wanting to tell it to everyone once they were settled.

"I'm perfectly fine with this!" said Xelloss cheerfully. He didn't have any worries at all about not getting his desired loot out of this journey. He highly doubted anyone would have the slightest idea of what the things he was after were. He could probably even pass them off as junk and no one would be the wiser. He wasn't interested in things so mundane as gold or gems. If he couldn't sneak things past a bunch of goofy mares, he didn't deserve to call himself the "mysteious priest."

But when was the last time I called myself that?
he wondered.

"I guess that works," grumbled Beryl. If she had her way, she would take as much as she and Sio could carry. She might not have that much bulk to her but the buffalo was another matter. Beryl suspected that Sio could even carry her around if she could convince her to. She liked to hitch rides while in her smallest size but never had tried it in her normal one.

"I wonder what sort of things will be there." She tried to imagine what treasures might be lurking in such a wild place. Her mind leaped immediately to visions of carved statues of ancient serpentine deities... jeweled necklaces with rubies bigger than her eye... piles of human skulls. She wasn't too keen on bits of dead humans, but the rest sent her heart fluttering.
