It was about time things started getting done. The decision was made long ago, after all, and in some ways the empress wanted to get things over with. She was quite sure everything would all work out! If it didn’t she could handle it, of course.

The problem was that, in her case, marriage was inevitably a big deal. Not so much personally, but for the pride. Since that meant that the pride would be getting a new Emperor, and that wasn’t exactly something you just glossed over it. Ting Lan supposed she didn’t honestly mind being in the spotlight much, that would be just silly, but it was still… er, different.

Anyways. She sought out her husband-to-be that morning, because they should probably have a little chat about how this was all going down. As she usually did when she met him, she left Jian behind. She arrived at the den the Prideland prince was staying at until they were actually married, even though she couldn’t be sure he would actually be there.

“Miandui?” She called lightly from the outside.

Hanjari had been pretty obedient with what was expected of him - to be honest, until they were married, he felt that he shouldn't push his boundaries too much. She could theoretically just send him back to the Pridelands if he offended her so deeply. He just...hoped that he hadn't, or that he never would.

She was awfully pretty, and smart. A deadly combo!

"Yes, my lady," he said with a smirk on his face, emerging after a moment to brush off his coat. "Good morning, Ting Lan."

Ah, good! there he was, no need to go looking for him. He did like to go on walks sometimes, and usually she found him quickly enough. But it was still handy if he was just already where she first looked for him. "Good morning." She said, offering him a smile because he was a pridelander and was apparently used to people being warm and friendly.

"How are you?" It was a very basic nicety she might always ask, but she also didn't want to dwell on it too long. Chit chat could be very annoying at times! Also, she might as well just tell him why she was here. "I came here for us to talk about our wedding."

"I'm well, I hope you are the same," he said with a nod. He hadn't quite expected her to come and want to talk about the wedding. That meant....that she wanted to have it soon. It was going to be a huge event, and while he was used to being towards the head of the Pridelands, these lands were so much more formal, it made him worry.

"That sounds like a good topic of discussion," he said with a loose smile, and shook his head. "Working out the kinks? I'll be honest, I've never had to do something so...formal before. I'll be following your lead for a lot of it, though I know we will be equal once the ceremony is over."

"I am, thank you." She nodded, and with that little formality over, was quite happy to just dive into the other, more important things. Because Ari could be a little restless sometimes, she decided it would be best to do this during a nice little walk. "Good! Come, we can walk while we discuss."

She frowned slightly, pondering what he said for a few moments. Though by now she was used to the idea that her future husband was simply different from the lions in the pride, she could see why he might be nervous about that. So Ting Lan decided to do what she figured any good wife would do, and attempted to reassure him. "You don't have to worry about that too much, I should hope. A little different might not be so bad." She shrugged, maybe the pride would like having a less formal ruler, if they were ever intimidated by her.

"Besides, if I had wanted someone just like everyone else in the pride, I could have just married one of the dukes in the east." Not that she wanted Miandui to be totally relaxed and informal all the time, because appearances were a good thing to keep. But it was a little silly to expect a lion from such a different background to just assimilate like that.

Besides, cultural enrichment and all. "And if you'd like, I can help you with things you want to say to the pride."

Miandui was starting to get used to Ting Lan's pleasure in taking walks whenever she wanted to discuss something. He wondered if it was something to keep her moving, as being physically fit was always a good sense of power and agility. It wouldn't do a ruler well to be lacking stamina.

"Alright," he simply answered, trusting her to her word. She hadn't ever lied to him before, there was no reason for her to start now. He would try to be himself, while also giving brief respect to those that needed it, namely the Lords and Ladies of the other houses.

"I'm not certain what to say, other than something along the lines of appreciating their loyalty to the Central House. Everyone has been kind so far, but I feel that the veil will fall once I am sealed in the seat next to you." Strife was impossible to ignore.

She nodded slightly. "Yes, that is possible." Some things in these lands could be quite silly, if you looked at them a certain way. The empress felt she had less troubles with her lords and ladies than perhaps her parents, particularly her father, had. Perhaps it was a male thing, which made Miandui a perfect target for messes.

But she was here, and she could handle it, certainly! "But we can work through things like that." If anything even happened, she wasn't totally convinced.

"So tell me, have there ever been large celebrations in the pridelands?" The last Ari could remember in Tianxia was her own crowning, and even then her parents had mostly dealt with it themselves. This was the first time she would actually manage such a large event! "Perhaps there's something you'd like to incorporate." A homage to his homelands, or something like that.

"Yes, we will work through whatever situations come before us." He couldn't let himself forget that. He was really starting to adjust to these lands. He wasn't quite ready to call it home, but he was getting close. It was....comfortable.

The question about his homeland did make him a little sick. "Yes, but I haven't been in any very large ones. The two large ones are when a new royal takes the throne, but my father is still King. And when they have their litter...which I was soo tiny to remember much of," he said with a chuckle. "There are some times smaller ones, for when an adolescent goes on their first official hunt."

He thought a bit longer, since he wasn't certain of the traditions for large ceremonies out here. "We could let all the creatures in Tianxia know for certain that you have picked a mate, with a big, hearty roar," he said with a laugh."

It seemed like as far as large celebrations went, the pridelands were like Tianxia. The might be other celebrations from house to house, but not often something that would call over the entire pride.

She laughed lightly at his suggestion of a roar. "Sounds perfect. It would resonate throughout the lands!" It would be very neat and impressive if they had a lion capable of such a roar.

"So far what I've got is we spread the word, and everyone will meet..." She paused, they'd have to find a nice place for the pride to gather, somewhere they could hear well, and not be cramped. "We'll figure out where some other time. Probably have a few hunters get some food beforehand. I could say a few words, and you could say some others, and..." What else was there? "I suppose that's it, really. Oh, and your magnificent roar."

It sounded a little boring and simple, in the end.

Boring and simple was his cup of tea. In comparison to the politics and hierarchy, Pridelands was a lot more boring than Tianxia. He missed it a bit, but he was certain that he would never step foot on those lands again. It was too dangerous to travel that far, and it was more important to keep himself and Ting Lan safe. More important that fulfilling silly little fantasies that may be in his head.

"Yes, this sounds like it will be quiet the event. I look forward to it." He would get that first real exposure to everyone, and it would be a good way to see just how Ting Lan handled the pride on her own for a split moment, and then forever after that together with him.
