Clerise was out on the fields, waiting for good sir Robert, stretching in anticipation. In reality, the redhead probably should have been a little afraid-- Robert did have an impressive stature, and was quite obviously more of a veteran than she was. But christ, all she could feel was the spark of adrenaline, tingling at the tips of her fingers and at the back of her neck. {[ You're a right fool. ]}"Shut up, Captain," she crooned, spinning him around on one arm, metal clanging noisily against metal as he hit her gauntlets. She moved with him, clumsy as always, dropping him a few times as she warmed up. Clerise had already spent a bit of time stretching-- she was more than just a little limber. That part she had down. The fighting? Yeaah. Not so much. Not so much at all. [[ hp// 40 damage done// n/a charges// 0/3, 7d4 ]]

When Robert reached the field, he had already summoned Jezebel, and had her resting comfortably against his shoulder, the large weapon bouncing freely with his lumbering gait. He had taken his time, because it meant he'd get to watch her stretch. Nobody needed to know that he'd been leering a bit, it meant nothing. When he got there, however, he stuck Jezebel into the ground, and leaned against her.
"Okay, kid. Let's make this quick. I've got s**t to blow up."
He gave her a brutish, but characteristically charming grin. "Nice gams, by the way. You work out?"

Clerise cocked her head at Robert, who seemed to be a little less irate than before. "Far be it from me to prevent you from failing," she teased, smirking, swinging Captain around with her left arm. "What --" the redhead looked baffled, cocking her head. "What does that even mean. But yeah, I do. Being an acrobat requires a lot more work than you'd think," she acquiesced, eying Robert's weapon. Double ended blade of some variety, she would need to be angling Balthazar very carefully so she wouldn't get gored. Oh christ, she wished she was better at this...fighting...thing. Maybeeee she was in over her head. {[ It is a little late to consider that now, you useless hussy. ]}"Quiet," she shushed Balthazar, turning her head with a frown. Robert looked a little disappointed that she didn't know what gams were. "Uh, it means I think you've got a rocking bod. Jesus, woman, you're human, right? Not one of those monsters we're supposed to be killin'?"
He sighed, and his body stretched, just once, before he plucked Jezebel out of the ground and started sliding her against his arm, into her preferred hold. Then he heard Clerise muttering to her weapon - he knew this because no one called Robert a know it all - and made a face.
"You do know you can talk to them in your head, right? So you don't look crazy, 'n s**t? Or maybe you are crazy." He winked. "The crazy ones are always the most fun.
His swing came down suddenly, as the weapon slid down his arm, around his body, in a fluid arc, and his fingers wrapped around the hilt in the middle to grab hold while he curved Jezebel at Clerise's side.

"Oh," she blinked, then grinned wildly at the compliment. It was always nice to be appreciated. "You're no stick yourself, boy, geeze." She looked him up and down, wondering what he'd been before coming here, "I'm a human! I was just raised by the goddamned circus. That's my ********' excuse and I'm stickin' to it." She stuck her tongue out at him. "Also, yeah I know, but it's awfully loud in here." She tapped her head with two fingers and a shrug. "Hard to hear myself think, thanks to the both of us." {[ Mostly thanks to YOU, sheila. Don't pin your outrageous mind on me. ]}Clerise's grin just widened as she spun Balthazar on one arm-- only to be clean knocked off her goddamned feet, skidding back on the grass. "Look at all the stars," the redheaded muttered, cracking her neck. Holy s**t that stung like a ********. "They're pretty." Wobbling to her feet, Clerise struck out at Robert weakly, still rather disoriented. "You are definitely as strong as you look, fffuuuckin hell, dude." She was still wobbling a bit. Christ. Robert didn't need anyone to tell him he was fierce. He already knew. When she went down hard, though, he had a moment's suffering of anxiety before his reasoning watered it down to casual dismay. "Sorry, kid" he mumbled. "Believe it or not I don't usually do that well in a fight. I used to think otherwise but since I've come here.." He shrugged, and his body crouched before lifting in the air, dropping another devastating blow.
"Whaddya know.." he mumbled. "Maybe you inspire me."

"Glad to be your muse," Clerise said in a daze, blinking her way back into clarity. She ducked low, arm out and high, spinning Captain on it and letting him build up some speed, dashing forwards and swinging him low at Robert's knees, striking out with the ring blade as fast as she could, keeping her movements snappy, sliding backwards and dancing on her heels.
{[ You're too abrupt. Fluidity is a necessity in wielding me, sheila. ]}
"Oh my god, I cannot even dance, Balthazar, we have been over this," she hissed to herself, bouncing on her heels as she tried to stay out of Robert's reach. A bit hard, given how long his ******** arms were. Jesus. It was like an orangutang army up in here.

Robert saw the weapon coming for him, and the first thing that went through his mind before he could react was she's using it wrong.
That thought caused him to pause, and in his moment of reflection the weapon knocked him off his feet, sending him scrawling to the floor.
He buried the back of his head into the ground and laughed up at the sky at his stupidity, before he began the slow process of getting back up to his feet. "Good shot, but damn, girl. I thought you said you were in the circus. What were you, a lion tamer? You don't smack someone with a round weapon."
Are you giving her pointers on how to fight you, you baffoon? Jezebel scoffed - the first thing she'd said to him all day.
Keep your trap shut, Jazzy. She's in my division, I'd rather not see her die.

"Quite honestly, Robert, I was a ******** acrobat," she replied, pacing in a circle around the other hunter, her steps light. "He keeps telling me to move...smoother but," she shrugged, letting loose a sigh.
"Well, I'm no dancer, that's for ******** sure."
She ran forward again-- but instead of stopping short of Robert, Clerise dashed past him, chewing on her lip in concentration as she dropped to one knee, spinning Balthazar above her head, hoping to catch him a little around his back, but his reflexes were fast enough to not get more than a mild nick.
"Damn. How do you think I should be going about this?" Clerise asked, sounding unsure. She'd definitely lost one match already-- versus an intermediate hunter or not, it was still a swift beating-- "Because I defffiinnitely don't know what the ******** I'm doing, really."

Great. Yet another person asking him for advice - but this time, he should have known it was coming. He did just criticize her form, after all.
He winced as the weapon hit, but shook his head and put Jezebel back on his shoulder.
"Check it. If you're an acrobat, just use your flexibility." He hated that he was about to show off his own flexibility just now, but he never really thought these things through. He held Jezebel up over his head, and rose up to his toes. All the way to his toes - ballet style. It was highly uncomfortable in the shoes he wore, but he did it anyway. One leg rose up, and up, pointed at the toe, until it touched the weapon he held in his hands. He stared up at it for a moment, concentrating..
Everything happened in a blur. Robert's leg came back down with the weapon, and his entire body followed in a fluid movement that had him side-twirling. Jezebel was twirled so fast she looked like she, too, was a circular weapon for a split second - and when the twirl was over, he stopped just short of slamming all of the force of inertia direction into Clerise's body. He was a breath away, with the blades at her neck, and his face close enough to feel the breath rushing out of him.
"If I'd just hit you, with all the force of the weapon plus me plus the movement, you'd be in a lot of pain right now."
And then he did hit her, with surprisingly little force, pushing her back with the weapon.

Interesting. She cocked her head like a dog, watching Robert flex-- christ, he was also pretty damned flexible. He almost put her to goddamned shame-- Clerise reminded herself to do her stretches three times a day, because she'd be damned if she lost all her flexibility now-- Slowly, Robert rose to his tippy toes, bringing his foot up to touch his weapon-- and when it came crashing down, she was spun around like a wildly spinning wind up toy, and JESUS that was coming right towards her-- And then he stopped short, the metal (or FEAR, WHATEVER) pressed to her neck, his breath mingling with hers. She stumbled back, keeping her balance easily-- it was obvious Robert had let her have that one, which was annoying in its own right. So she did as Robert advised-- and used her natural talents. Facing away from Robert, she leaned backwards, pointing one foot in the air as a counter balance, spinning Balthazar on her wrist, like so. It was her charged attack, and with it came flying sparks in every colour in every which way. Bam. "Like that?" She sounded winded as hell. The weapon spun and sparked and slammed into him over and over, until finally he fell back on his a** and grunted at the impact. Still, he didn't look very impressed.
"No, stupid. Nothing like that. You just used your charge attack, that's different. Of course you're gonna rail me with your charge - you didn't use ANY of the things I just told you to. You're supposed to make physics work for you. Like, not just letting your weapon do all the work."
He got back up, held Jezebel up in front of him, pointing the tip at her. "Like, I'll show you easier, maybe. If I just hit you with the weapon right now, it would hurt. Sure. But if I add to it the force of movement, like.."
He turned around like a discus thrower, and swung Jezebel around with the force of his spin, smacking her in the side.

"Ugh, whatever," she muttered, pursing her lips together, waving a gauntlet clad hand.
"You assume that just because I haven't done it against you I don't know what you're talking about--" She huffed, biting down on her words, because he probably had a point. She DIDN'T know what she was doing, and HAD asked for help; the least she could do was take it in stride. If it turned out there were better ways, then she could adapt later. Robert moved like a lion, sleek and wild and constrained all at once.
"I THINK I see what you mean," she murmured thoughtfully, resisting the urge to tap her foot as she prepared for the incoming swing. Clerise managed to deflect SOME of it, using Balthazar to catch Robert's weapon as it came in, Tilting Balthazar to -throw it off its main course, deflecting the blow to her hips, rather than the sensitive middle where delicate things, like, kidneys were. And more importantly, where her liver was.
She wasn't entirely used to having to throw her body-weight in this way, and stumbled as she attempted the discus throw -- with little avail.
But she FELT the difference, in throwing herself around like that. Fascinating.
{[ Oh NOW you get it, you redheaded hussy. ]}

Even with the way she suddenly started to use her body to strengthen her blows, Robert started to realize that he was doing something he really didn't want to do. First, it had started with Madison. Even Candace had tried. And then, Ofie.. who very nearly took off his head for it.
Why did he always end up trying to teach people something, when in the end, he should have just worried about himself, and ONLY himself? He didn't know this girl. There was no reason to be trying to fix her posture, even as his hands ached to reach out and straighten her leg, or force her to arch her back. There was no reason for this stupidity, and he should have known better.
He should have ******** known better than to care.
"Yeah. That's good. You'll have it in no time." His voice was hoarse from her hit, but he still managed to come up on her from a crouch, swinging his Jezebel around his own neck in a move that had nothing to do with his own body - just the fluidity of motion. He liked moving her like this, even if it meant hitting weaker.
Your Jezebel, hmm? The weapon murmured, having caught his internal monologue curiously. Robert rolled away from Clerise after the batleth hit, and a smirk touched his lips, but he said nothing.

Clerise yelped like a surprised Pomeranian as Robert corrected her posture, forcing her body to be more grace than brute strength. But muscle memory was a beautiful thing: and even though it would take a second and a third and a fourth time--she would get this, eventually.
There was no reason she couldn't improve. At least her feet were on the ground with this.
Clerise was distracted by how smoothly the other hunter moved his weapon, distracted by the clean lines that it drew in the air, and decided to see if she could do something similar.
She tried a spin and tried to force Balthazar upwards with her bodyweight--
and promptly slipped and fell on her a**.
"You really make everything look way ******** easier, you know, s**t."
