" Now take this basket and get out of the city for the day, no more training for today, that is an order"
Infernos was still thinking about what Knight Lord Andrei had told him as he made his way out of the gates of Telrunya City. Of course he followed Knight Lord Andrei's command with out hesitation, but in his mind he questioned the reasoning. Perhaps the instructor thought Infernos might run into trouble outside and wished to hone more of his skills? Perhaps there was a surprise test waiting for him outside the walls set up by the instructors? Infernos' mind became riddled with possibilities.
"Infernos.."
Infernos' train of thought became disrupted by the weapon he carried on his back. Although it was only a picnic, Infernos would not go anywhere with out Shroud Breaker.
. o O ( Is something the matter?)
" If you trust that The Guardians chose your instructors wisely, then you do not need to question their motives, only follow their instructions."
. o O (You are right once again. I do not need to know why.)
Infernos did his best to put his curious mind at rest. For what ever reason Knight Lord Andrei had sent him on this task, he would not waste time trying to figure out its purpose. He would instead know that his instructor's reasons were for his benefit. Infernos let out a sigh and continued walking the path, away from the city and his home.

Infernos had walked for quite some time, shuffling his feet as he took in the outside world. He'd not seen much of all of the island, or its other inhabitants while secluded with in the walls of Telrunya City. His thoughts turned to an idea, perhaps there was a hill nearby, or a place of height to give him a clearer view of his surroundings, and a good place to stop and eat. Infernos took a look around and found a hill, not too far from the path, that sat above the tree lines. This would be a perfect place to finish his "mission". He detoured off the path he was walking and headed into the forest. Infernos couldn't remember the last time he'd seen a forest up close, he was mostly always in the city, idle wanderings were not his thing. Navigating through the trees, the ground started to slope further in. It would be a bit of an effort to get to the top, but he was no stranger to wear and tear.

Infernos caught his breath at the top of the hill. It wasn't as easy as he thought it would have been. The ground was loose and his feet slipped easily, and with nothing to hold onto, he had to crawl at times. Infernos took in one more deep breath to control it and stood upright to look at his surroundings. It wasn't like seeing the island from the city walls, but he still admired the view from where he stood. Infernos even turned to look towards his home in the distance, tugging his desire to return. Giving a stretch and dusting the dirt from his knees. Infernos found a patch of grass and looked at the basket he'd carried with him on his journey.
The basket was covered with a red blanket that was neatly folded. Infernos assumed that was to sit on, so it was unfolded and placed on the ground. Taking a seat on his newly laid blanket, Infernos placed the basket in front of himself and looked at the contents. First he noticed there were two glass bottle with stoppers, wrapped in napkins. Infernos guessed as to stop them banging against each other the entire way. Being as he had walked a long time and the sun was right over his head, Infernos decided to try it out. Popping the stopper, he took a large swig of the liquid inside and smacked his lips together. It was refreshing, pleasant and had a citrus taste. Infernos could not tell what it was, but he was glad for it, if it didn't show on his face. Reaching into the basket, he continued to remove the contents. Two apples, a box with a variety of sandwiches, some grapes and a smaller box with a ribbon tied around it. Infernos grew curious of the box, so after taking a large bite of one of the apples, he peeled the ribbon away and lifted the lid. Inside was a freshly made pecan pie with whipped cream, Infernos almost smiled. Pecan pie was his favourite treat, it was one of his first memories, getting a delicious plate of pie as a child. Deciding to wait until he'd had some sandwiches, Infernos munched on the apple and placed the box back in the basket.
Infernos started getting rather full on his sixth cut of sandwich. He thought he shouldn't eat any more if he still wanted to try some pie. He had to wonder why he had gotten so much food, this was more a meal for two than it was for just himself. It was there that he had a sudden realisation and froze for a moment. Two drinks, two apples, more sandwiches than he could eat alone, and a whole pecan pie? Infernos cursed himself and shook his head. He was not meant to go on this picnic alone. Maybe that is what his mentor was trying to teach him, that he should learn to socialise, or that he was alienating himself. A wave of guilt washed over Infernos, he had failed the mission he'd been given.

Infernos buried his face in his hands, mentally kicking himself for screwing up the task he was given. He guessed he should have asked questions or looked in the basket first before he left the city. He was almost about to enjoy the time off as well, now all he wanted to do was get home and apologise.
" You know Infernos, as much as you say you will be there for your fellow squires, you are still distant from a lot of them. You tend to miss meals with them, training with them. If at all, you only learn from your instructors with them. From what I've seen of others while you are near them or sleeping, to believe that you would be by their side if ever they need you, they need to trust you. To trust you, they need to know you. This is possibly what Knight Lord Andrei wanted you to learn for yourself, as well as taking a break. Maybe he meant you should take some time to know your kinsmen? I know failure for you feels like spitting in The Guardians face, but you've now learned from it, and can better yourself because of it."
Infernos looked up and nodded. He felt blessed that he had Shroud Breaker with him, it seemed to know the right words to say when ever his spirits were lessened.
. o O ( You are right again as always friend. I should engage with the other squires some more. I guess though, on the bright side, I do have a pecan pie to myself )
Infernos almost gave a smirk, trying to make good of the situation. He considered though, how full he was, and as much as he enjoyed pecan pie, he came upon an idea. Infernos thought perhaps if he took the pie back home, and offered some to the squires, it might bring a chance to socialise. Settling on the matter, he began to pack up the picnic, folding up the blanket to place on top and looked around to find his way home. Telrunya City was some time away, but it shouldn't take him long to return.
Infernos started making his way down the side of the hill. taking it slowly and a bit at a time as not to lose his footing. As he drew closer to the trees, Infernos hoped to use their roots to help him down. Grabbing one long, thin one, Infernos took a step down, stepping upon a loose clump of dirt. The dirt crumbled and Infernos fell, the root he was holding ripping easily out of the ground and slipping out of his hand.
" Infernos!"
He tumbled down the hill, the world a blur as the scenery rapidly spun as his body rolled down. Pain struck his body with every bounce on the ground and slam off a tree. It grew worse when he heard the snap of bone in his leg, actually causing him to cry out. The cry was shortened when air flew out of his lungs as he slammed to a halt into a tree. Infernos felt the world growing black and fuzzy, and all he could think of, was being thankful that the pain would be stopping sooner rather than later as his eyes closed and he slumped over.
" Infernos! No! "

Infernos was crying, tears rolled down his puffy cheeks stained with soot. He was scared, terrified, there was fire everywhere and he had no idea where his parents were. The flames danced around his room, drawing closer towards him, licking at the air. His eyes hurt from the crying and the thick smoke that was blotting out his vision. Why weren't his parents coming to take him? why would they leave their child here? Infernos tried to call out for them but all he could do was cough as the smoke choked him. It was hard to keep his eyes open, they were getting heavier by the second. Infernos heard the noise of his door opening, he quickly cried out for help, hoping his parents were coming. But all he saw was a tall dark figure, moving into the room and straight towards him. Infernos cried louder, monsters were coming! His cries turned to coughing as the air was washed over with smoke, coating the room till there was not much left to see. Not much, but a pair of eyes staring down at him and a dark hand reaching out to grab him.
" Infernos!!"
...Infernos woke up.
