Sailor Lenka was cold. She didn’t mind the snow, no, in fact she liked the snow…but when it was late at night, and she only had her fuku with her silly little pair of stockings to keep her warm, she wasn’t too happy to be waist deep in frozen water.
The child’s teeth were chattering now, and she really hadn’t meant to get in this deep in snow…it had just happened. She had completely misjudged the amount of snow that was piled under the monkey bars where she would train, and ended up inside of the snow pile after her gloves had slipped on the icy metal bars.
This wasn’t a job for senshi gloves, no, she needed those super cool grippy gloves to hold onto the bars better. But…that could wait. Right now…all she needed, and all she wanted was to get home and get under a blanket. Then go under four more blankets and cuddle with her pigs. They always kept her warm…
As the chibi senshi struggled out of the snow, she wondered if the clothes that she was wearing before she henshined up would be dry…maybe she could get her mom to make her some hot chocolate if she said she had had a bad dream…yeah. That was the new plan. Lenka gave a little giggle, then gave one more lurch, falling down into a smaller pile of snow.
Great. Now she was even more cold.

Camelot was not too keen on the cold, but at least when he was powered up he could bear it without much trouble. He was, after all, covered in armor and weighed down pretty well. It was warm enough, especially once he started walking and fighting.
Fighting was a great way to warm the blood.
He was walking and saw a familiar girl in the park, shivering in the cold. Though she seemed to be smiling and happy, and he wondered why she was out when it was so cold. He moved toward her, approaching slowly and with a smile in case she didn't remember him.
"It's a little cold to be playing in the park, don't you think?" he asked, smiling in a kind way at her. He stooped once he was close, so he was nearer to her level, helping her up out of the snow thinking she had meant to be there. Her cheeks were flushed with color, and he wondered if she had been running or something, not realizing she had been a lot colder and then a lot warmer just a few moments ago. He had noticed the power signature vanish, but of course did not put it together that this was the source of all his current confusion.
"what are you doing out here all alone?"

She was too cold to feel anything physical, let alone another power signature. Though, when she heard a voice, and felt someone pick her up, she was very surprised to look up and see Camelot. Oh! Ambrosia would be so jealous!
Lenka laughed then hugged the older man. “Qui-Gon! We were looking for you, Ambrosia and I, we wanted to thank you for saving us and stuff and Ambrosia wanted to show you that she was a hero too just like you told her she could be…”
The child drew in a breath, shivering slightly. “I was out here training myself, I’m a leader now, Qui-Gon! I have a team, and I have to be the very, very best for them!” She really hoped that he would be proud of her, she had really done her best to become stronger and stronger, and even though some people…didn’t seem to care, she knew she was a big help by doing so. She beamed up at the man and gave another laugh. This was the coolest night ever! And not just because of the temperature.

Camelot looked very surprised.
It was upsetting, in a way, just because he did not like these kids being in the war, but he also understood that it wasn't anyone's fault. It wasn't the cats that chose to awaken them. It wasn't the kids or other senshi. As Camelot had come to accept it, it was just a power sleeping inside them, and whether they awakened when they were kids or when they were his age, it was who they were.
Still, he wished it could have waited a few years for the kids.
He shook his head and laughed as she called him Qui-Gon, remembering their previous encounters. He didn't have his lightsaber with him.
"That's good!" He said, laughing. He didn't like the idea of her training out on her own though. In the snow. "But you shouldn't be out here where you can catch a cold. You won't be good to your.. ah..." he searched for the word, "padawans if you get sick, will you?"

The child sniffled, wiping at her nose. He was right about that. She still had the little bit of sniffles from her most recent cold, and being out here training never helped much. “I know…I just…” She gave a little smile. “I just want to be really strong so I don’t let my team down…I…I haven’t even seen Pomona for a while, and Ambrosia and I normally patrol together…but I like to train by myself because then I know I’m doing what will make me stronger…not that making my team stronger isn’t good too!”
She gave a laugh, then smiled. “I’m getting a lot better at fighting youmas too…I don’t hesitate anymore..even if they are pigs! I know they’re monsters, and I take care of them!” She thought he would be proud at this, he had to be. He was so worried that day that they had to fight the pig, and she had run into one other pig youma, and with only a little hesitation, she had dusted it.
“Oh! Qui-Gon! Did you notice?” She spun around, showing off her super fuku to him. “I’m stronger now. So it’s harder for the bad guys to shove me over!”

Camelot smiled.
"Part of being strong is being smart, and making sure you take care of yourself. So you're always able to take care of them. Does that make sense? So training and being strong is fine, but only if you don't go looking for trouble you can't handle. Or put yourself in the cold, where you'll get sick."
If he had a coat, he would have wrapped her in it. As it was, he couldn't offer her that. So he just stayed close and looked around. He should probably get her some place warm so she could dry off a bit.
Snow was not very nice once it melted.
He chuckled.
"Well, that's good! I wouldn't want anyone else upsetting you like I did. I'm glad you understand that they're monsters." Though he still would rather she didn't have to fight anything, considering how young she was. But fate was something he couldn't fight against. They all had their roles.
"I did notice! Congratulations! That makes you a Super now, right?" He'd heard the word before. Super and Eternal. "But you still might need help, and if you ever do you can always find me."

“I was already sick once this year, it was awful.” She gave a little pout. “I couldn’t even train my padawan…I felt so useless. But…you’re right, I was almost done training for tonight anyway…maybe…” She seemed thoughtful. “Maybe I should wait until it gets a little warmer before I train more, right? So I don’t bet sick again. I…do need to take care of myself! Gee, Camelot. You’re so super smart.”
She grinned, then sneezed, giving another pout.
When he mentioned her being super, Lenka nodded proudly. “I am! I am and I love it! I feel so special, and strong, and just…I can do so much more to help people now…I like it. I really like being a hero, Camelot. I want to be the best hero that I can be…and I want to make everyone proud of me!”
At least that was a goal that was far more easy to obtain…well, at least over her goal of being a Jedi.

Camelot chuckled.
At least some kids listened to him. His own was decidedly against doing anything Tony told him to do, and maybe that was like the Knight of Earth found he liked other children, particularly younger ones, so much. It made him even more aware that he had missed his son's childhood, and might have made a difference in his life, but he couldn't think it was too late.
Even if Nate was very set in his stubborn, rude ways.
In any case, Camelot found he was much better at letting out his paternal instincts with the senshi and knights that were all so much younger than him. He couldn't help but play parent, and care about all of them. Worry about all of them. It meant a lot of fretting, but it was worth it, in the end, if he could help them even just a little.
"You are special," he said, smiling softly and kneeling near her. "But being a hero isn't just about people being proud of you. You have to be proud of yourself, just like you have to take care of yourself. Helping people is important and good, and I know I'm very proud of you for doing it and for getting stronger. But I don't want to see you hurt. Just make sure you have your friends around, and you call for help when you need it, okay?"

Lenka smiled up at him, nodding. “I have lots of friends, and I’ll be sure to keep them around, I don’t want to get hurt, in fact…I hate getting hurt! You have to call for help when you need it too, Qui-Gon, okay? It’s not good to go around alone…even if you are as strong as you are.” She yawned and gave one more shiver.
“I don’t think anyone should really go patrolling alone…’specially with those awful bad guys running around. Did you know that they always push me over? It’s not fair. But…” She grinned happily. “When I got to be super, I pushed one of THEM over. He’s awful, he really is. His name is Remarque…and he’s a Dark…mirror Senshi. He’s a bad Senshi, Camelot. That’s just…horrible.”
She seemed sad for a moment, but then shrugged. “I guess it doesn’t matter too much, since I’m super and he isn’t. I can push him over whenever I want to.”

Camelot smiled and nodded his head.
"I will be careful. Who pushes you down?" He looked a little angry at that. If it wasn't bad enough that these young kids had to fight at all, it was worse knowing there were bad guys out there that went and fought them. But of course they would: chibi senshi were still senshi. And Chaos was not likely to discriminate.
It was a corrupting force.
He listened as she explained about the dark senshi that hurt her. It sounded like bullying to him. It just reminded him how young the fighters in this war really were, and it made his chest ache. "I know it is, but we'll save them somehow. Just don't pick on him too much: you don't want to make enemies hate you even more. You fight when you have to, when you need to protect yourself and others. But being a bully won't help you win. Does that make sense?"
It was a tough line for an adult to walk, let alone a kid. Knowing where to draw the line between hurting each other, what was necessary and what was excessive. That even blurred for Camelot, for all his efforts. He smiled at her softly.
"Now, I think you should get home."

Lenka nodded, giving a yawn and a small shiver. “Yeah, I think you’re right. I’ll find you again sometime, Camelot! And, and I know Ambrosia really wants to hang out with you sometime soon! We like to talk about you! You’re just the coolest!”
She laughed, then waved at the Squire, before running off into the night. Yeah. Maybe he was right, maybe she shouldn’t keep fighting with Remarque…but he was just so mean…Next time she saw him, though. Next time, she would try to be nicer. That was a promise to herself!
She would be a hero, not another bully.
