((IN THIS THREAD: backlogged solos for Tag))
"Christmas Eve"
“Daddy, no!” Liam screamed, clutching onto the seam of his pants. He hugged his leg, his messy cheek dirtying the fabric. In the back of his mind, Tag noted that he would have to take in the pants to the cleaners, but he was too happy with the moment to give other things much thought. “Daddy, don’t go!”
Tag looked up from his son’s sad eyes – the same color as his own – to catch the eyes of Chelsea. She sighed as Tag’s eyes pleaded until she gave in.
“Daddy can stay for a little while longer,” Chelsea said, squatting to lower to their son’s level. “But then he has to go to work.”
“But mommy, pleeeeeaase,” Liam said, clutching onto Tag’s leg even tighter.
“It is Christmas Eve after all,” Tag pleaded, and then again softly, “Please.”
Chelsea picked up their son. “Mommy and daddy will talk, why don’t you go play with your toys.”
“No,” Liam refused. “I don’t like your toys. I want daddy.”
“Here,” Tag said, sliding his iPhone out from the inner pocket of his suit jacket. He unlocked it and opened a game app that he had bought for his son. Liam accepted the device with a grin, playing with it with a fair amount skill.
Chelsea placed Liam down on the couch as she pulled Tag aside.
“An iPhone, really? You let our son play with an iPhone?” she questioned.
“Relax, Chells. He loves the damn thing, I bought a few apps for him to play with,” Tag shrugged. “You know that Liam is only to go throw a fit once I leave.”
“So what’s the plan then? You never leave?” Chelsea rolled her eyes.
“Well it has been a while since you and I have tried that,” he grinned, placing his hand on her arm. She pulled away quick.
“And it doesn’t work,” Chelsea insisted. “You can stay for dinner and until Liam goes to bed. I suppose its better that you are here with us than alone by yourself.”
“I doubt that I would be alone, I always find a way to get myself a little Christmas joy.”
“Don’t be gross,” she groaned. “Are you alright, though? I know the holidays can be rough, especially everything you’ve been through with your mother.”
“I made it through Thanksgiving, I can make it through Christmas,” he insisted. He still didn’t like to speak much about his mother’s murder. Especially considering the role he played in it. He was the target, and she was the collateral. “I’m fine.”
“I’m glad,” Chelsea smiled and embraced him. From the couch, two-year-old Liam watched with a smile on his face at the sight of his mother and father together.
“What did you get Liam for Christmas, by the way?” she asked at the end of their hug.
“Oh, right, I left it back at my place, I'll go grab it in a minute. Its uh,” he paused. s**t. She wasn’t going to like his answer. “Its an iPad.”
Yup.
She didn't like his answer.

"Resolutions"
“No man, no, I’m good.” Tag’s insistence was slurred as he fell onto d**k as they staggered out of the club. It was New Year’s Eve, and the crowd at the club was as outrageous as the cover charge, but neither were a worry for Tag.
“I’ll drive you home,” d**k insisted again. It probably wouldn’t be the best idea. Tag and d**k had drank nearly the same amount, but both of them were way too pride to ever admit they couldn’t drive. In fact, the two of them were alike in many ways, and they saw each other as sort of brothers in how much their personalities resembled each other.
d**k was Tag’s only true male friend, the reasoning a combination of their similar personalities and their different tastes in sexual partners. Tag loved women, and d**k, well, d**k loved d**k (a naming coincidence that lived up to its destiny as a pick up line).
“No, you’re drunk,” Tag insisted back. A firework went off in the air, its boom and flash causing both Tag and d**k to leap into the air and nearly fall to the floor.
“What the ******** was that?” d**k nearly grabbed Tag for support.
“Terrorists,” Tag muttered aloud. His friend looked up to the sky, watching the colored flames soar.
“Nah, they’re just fireworks.” The two laughed, only then realizing that all their Jaegerbombing may not have been the best idea. They hailed for a cab and fell in, headed off to Tag’s place to recuperate. Inside the quiet cab, away from the loud noisy club, they finally had time to think. And for Tag, his mind only went on to one thing.
“I wonder what Chelsea’s doing tonight,” he thought ******** her,” d**k retorted. He was never a fan of Chelsea. Sure, their kid together was cute, but mostly he just slobbered and shat everywhere.
“No man, I think I love her,” Tag said mindlessly.
“Aw, come on don’t say that,” d**k groaned. “You’re Tag ******** Swagger. You don’t love.”
“That’s not true, that’s not true,” he repeated. “I dunno. I love the time that I spend together with Liam. And if that means settling down and marrying Chelsea, then maybe that’s what I have to do.”
“You’re not making sense,” d**k saw through the illogic. “You love your kid, so what? You don’t need to get married. You’re not the type.”
“What if I was?”
“You’re not.”
“What if I become the type?”
“People don’t change Tag,” d**k was getting frustrated with all of this buzz-killing serious talk. He had left behind a perfectly fine man at the bar for a friend to what, talk about their feelings?
“No, people change all the time,” Tag argued back. “Hell, its New Years ******** Eve. That can be my uh, what you call it?”
“Resolution?”
“Yeah, my resolution. This year, 2012: Tag Swagger will settle down.”
“And then the world will ******** you.”
There’s a funny thing about New Years Resolutions. Many may be made, but most become nothing more than forgotten drunken declarations.
