"Isolean! " He called at the top of his lungs into the dark forest. Where was that filly he worried looking this way and that unfortunately his eyesight was poor in the darkness where as hers was seemingly exceptional.
He heard her moveing about just out of his line of sight even laughing every so often. However there were other light hoof beats out there in the darkness as well that did not sound stealthy. Quite confident in fact.
"Isolean Daddy doesn't want to play anymore!" he called trying to sound stern but not quite managing it. He knew she was to young and too sheltered (that last part was his own fault of course) to know what dangers played with her in these hours after sunset.

((told you I would start it lol! And now we have a month to finish it. :s points to sig))

((RPEd as a foal here))

Isolean ran about with a large abundance of pent up energy in the darkness chasing darting fireflies through the cool evening breeze.
Her ebony black hair was a tangled mess with twigs and lord only knew what it else. Her creamy white coat was coated with dust a little smudges of tree sap. Her father admittedly tried his best to keep her neat and lady like but there's some things that just need to come from a mare for a young filly to understand. However as it was the The only mare that  isolean would listen to was her grandmother Thesh-ah a warrior and shcoalor who cared little for the state of her body beyond health and even less so about being a lady or "pretty".

User ImageVes'tacha sighed. She really wasn't enjoying her gravid state. It made travel much more cumbersome. Her stomach was always upset, she had been looking for a mint bush for days. Chewing willow bark had helped some with the pain, but she would be glad to be done with this pregnancy.

When she had agreed to travel with Lucian for a spell, she hadn't expected this result. Ves'tacha had to admit to herself that she had become somewhat waspish as everything swelled. Walking all day on swollen ankles over sore hooves did not make her pleasant company.

She knew Lucian cared a lot for family and that he wouldn't abandon their foals. But when he got the excuse to go looking for mint bushes, he took it. Since he wasn't pregnant, he would be able to catch up with Ves'tacha after they had both had a chance to calm down.

Ves'tacha was so miserable, she simply plodded along the trail. Once or twice she had thought she heard something but it was dark and she was tired and just wanted a place to rest. A little sleep and the world would right itself and she could be pleasant again.

The Roma lifestyle, the wandering way, had always been a blessing for Ves'tacha. She would be mightily grateful when it was again. Her ears perk up as she hears a voice calling. There defiantly was someone out there, and unless she missed her guess, it was someone who needed help, not someone looking to eat her.

Then again, those looking to eat her often tried to look like someone looking for help. Ves'tacha stilled and peered through the darkness of the night, trying to discern what lay before her. It wasn't until then she realized just how dark it had gotten.

Ves'tacha didn't dare move from the trail. But the way ahead might be a trap waiting to be sprung. She often was confident in her ability to talk her way out of danger and run fast enough to escape if that failed. But Ves'tacha didn't want to risk the lives of her unborn foals on her silver tongue and she knew she wasn't even up for a trot at the moment.

Frozen with indecision, she stood on the trail, her fear magnified by her need for sleep.

With the faint rays of Moonlight glinting through the canopy of tree branches above he stumbled along through the woods.
"Isolean! Isolean darling we need to head back to the teepee." he called then just as his feet hit the soft dirt if a well trodden path. A wonderful change of pace from tripping over exposed roots and clods of moss.
Hearing breathing and sensing someone nearby he went silent slowing his kirn steps to silence his foot falls as he made his way up the path eventually he saw a shadowed form.
"who's there?" he called confidently. His scales undoubtedly making him more visible in the darkness. "I'm just looking for my daughter." he added.

"You have not yet found her." The voice that answers is rich and feminine but distant. "Moonlight is not an ideal time for games of hide and seek." But as Ves'tacha examines the stallion by the faint moonlight, she relaxes somewhat.

She had met Soquili who exhibited no sign of deviant behavior from outward appearance and yet were hunters. But this stallion did not seem likely to be such a one. His concentration on his lost offspring. If he asked, Ves'tacha would feel obligated to help. She truly wished he wouldn't ask.

He was taken aback by a female by herself alone so late at night for a moment only silence greeted her comments. The voice was . . . liken to warm honey fresh out of the comb unto his senses. Thick, sweet and warm with a certain natural comfort and rarity. The only females he had seen in months were his teepee mates, his mother and his daughter.
Clearing his throat he pulled himself together.
"No. no I have not." He sighed " "However I'm afraid moonlight is all she has in life to play by. She is allergic to the sun you see. On the upside her eyes are adjusted accordingly. I wager she better off than we are. Hence why She wont let me find her I'm guessing. Like most females she enjoys making a fool of stallions."  he laughed politely then bowed deeply taking a knee.
"I am Recovery son of BrakenHide and Thesh-ah at your service." he still could not see her clearly though a little light glinted off something blue.

"I can see where that would cause you problems. Is not her mother of similar nature that she might find her lost filly? It seems you are ill equipped to such a task, noble Recovery." He hadn't asked her aid. And yet, he was on the path before her and Ves'tacha didn't wish to pass him in her gravid state, knowing that if she had read him wrong, she could easily be taken by the stallion.

And a stallion with a daughter who could see only at night made her much more cautious. Those who could not stand the sunlight often had twisted natures.

Getting his hooves once more beneath him he nodded.
"I'm afraid I can't say anything about her mother or her father. . . Well at least not anything positive. You see she's not mine, I found her basket during one of my nightly patrol rounds this last fall sitting all in an open field with a bat tethered to it. It was the strangest thing . . .The bat familiar flew off once i clipped the tether before I could question it but all signs I found in the area it seemed like she was abandoned without a struggle. I waited for quite sometime.much longer than anyone should leave a basket unattended I'm Sure" he sighed and looked about "no one came so I eventually took her."
He paused and stepped a little closer to get a better look at her. She was . . .beautiful a lady of the first degree if he had ever seen one. If he hadn't been smiling before he certainly was now.
"I'm sorry I didn't catch your name miss-" pausing to allow her to finish.

With a smile, "I didn't throw it. Names hold power and should not be given freely. Though such information as you have shared would be of value in trade. So I shall share with you that I am called Ves'tacha."

She was tired and her words fell much more heavily than was her wont. She sighed silently to herself as she realized just how much she was suffering from pain and exhaustion. If she had been in top form she could have been much more coy with the answer.

Shaking her head, Ves'tacha again addressed the stallion, "Your pardon, generous Recovery. I fear I have too long been traveling. My mind is fogged with sleep."

Tired? Why to him she sported a glow even through the darkness. He examined her a little more closely. Her ankles were swollen (yet still quite attractive) and - his eyes got a little wider at her swollen mid section. A little light went off in his head she was with foal. What a fool he was.
"my applogies madam. I hadnet-well what I mean to say is- ahhh."
He paused stepping off the path to get out of her way. "is there anything you need? Do you need a place to stay? I know these parts rather well."

Ves'tacha blinked at the sudden turn in his manner. She must have sounded the boar. She tried to recall what she had said that would cause this reaction, but failed to understand it.

Shaking her head, "I . . ." Ves'tacha paused before turning him down. Maybe he was a threat, but at this point, she needed a place to rest. She could only hope he wouldn't hurt her. "If you could direct me towards a safe resting place, I would be grateful. Though you have a daughter to find, I would not take you from such a task."

Just then before he father could say another word she lept out of a bush onto the trail wiggling excitedly her tiny vampire fangs freely showing as at this point in her youth she still had difficulties hiding them. She looked at the mare and smiled broadly. The little filly was a mess twigs and and mud all over however she did smell quite strongly of mint.
"I'm Isolean! Your gorgous!" isolean whos viahion was not impaired in the least shouted "Are you my New mom?!?" her wide blue eyes glinting with childish hope.
"Isolean mind your manners and no she's not." recovery said blushing brightly then using his for leg to pull her back away from miss ves.
"ahhh crab apples." Isolean huffed

Ves'tacha smiles slightly, "Greetings Isolean. I appreciate the complement. I am yet to be anyone's mother, though it will not be long that I may yet say that. Do you think you could help your father lead me somewhere safe to sleep? I . . . forgive me asking but, you smell of mint. There wouldn't happen to be a bush near would there?"

Sorry for how short it is - but it's after 1 am here - I'd wait but I don't think I'll have another chance to reply until Wed.

Isolean puffed up rather proudly like most foals she took jobs very happily. Just glad to be involved with grown up matters especially those concerning her father.
"Could I? Of course I can besides I doubt dad could find his way back right now he's as blind as auntie Reii out here!" She replied excitedly wiggling about.
Recovery looked away for a moment ashamed as he couldn't really argue with her. He was rather lost.
"mint? Sure there's a bunch like loads that grow next to the stream near where we live. it's on the way I can pick you a whole bushel full If you want!"
I wonder of I'll ever look that pretty Isolean thought examining the elaborate hair and beads of the beautiful mare that stood before her.
Even if I can't I suppose it won't hurt to try she mused.

Ves'tacha lets out a long sigh, "That would be lovely! My stomach has been upset for quite some time and mint is one of the few things that soothes it."

"But you should be nicer to your father. He tries very hard. He was worried about you. He knows he doesn't see very well out here, but he came out anyway because he loves you and wants you to be safe."

Ves'tacha sighs, "I'm not much better at seeing than your father in the dark and I would appreciate a guide to a place to rest. Perhaps I can trade for such service by helping you get those twigs out of your mane and tail. I know how difficult it can be to do on your own."

As tired as she was, Ves'tacha had a strong sense of value and of not taking something for nothing. If this filly really could find her some mint, it would be more than worth a little time helping her de-tangle. Besides, Ves'tacha knew she wasn't going to get some sleep until she had a chance for her stomach to settle and her ankles to reduce some of the swelling.
