Bix had been assigned for minipet feedings this week, a low effort assignment for his recovering body. Thankfully he was almost completely recovered at this point so except for a bit of yellowing around what used to be a black eye, he looked mostly normal. No one else was working the minis with him today and as usual, he was antsy for someone to talk to. He pulled out his phone, ready to shoot out a text to Gale or Before or Cass... but Mina intervened. You ssssshould get one of the new ghouls. One of the sssssexy ones.I didn't think you approved of any of the girls.Well I don't but it's hysssterical to watch you fail.Thanks. Thanks alot.He couldn't fault his partner's logic though. He was always trying to pick up girls and failing. If he was watching it happen it would probably be funny. Still, branching out of his friends group was never bad and he put his phone away and instead went through the dorms and looked for the newbs rooms. "O..Ofie.. Ofelia!" He expressed audibly, impressed with himself for finding the room. He knocked as politely as possible. Hopefully she would be home.

Ofelia had been sleeping because, well, she figured unless someone told her she needed to be doing something else then sleeping was a good enough option. The knock at the door, as well as the crowing of her name, was enough to stir her from slumber seeing as she'd never been a light sleeper. When someone lived next to a haunted barn that could potentially spew out hordes of evil, you learned to sleep with one ear and one eye out. Ofelia groaned, stretched, and slid off her bed as she shuffled over to the door. "Hang on a sec."
Hick, wait a second. Don't open the do- For some reason Rue seemed to be stopping her but Ofelia shrugged it off, her steps carrying her over to the door. She placed a hand on the knob and pulled the door inward, the hinges creaking with protest at the motion. I warned you.
Ofelia yawned and rubbed at her eyes...er, eye. Where was the fake one? Also....where were her pants? She had opened her door in just a wife-beater and her underwear, her hair out of its usual braids and buns and hanging about her shoulders. It covered half her face, the half missing the eye thankfully, and the teen blearily attempted to figure out who was in front of her. "Mmm...Bix? Izzat ya?"

"Hey OfeHURK." Bix's words were choked on and his eyes shot to the ceiling. The pale albino skin became suddenly flushed but he was trying to be mature. "Trainee.. please put some pants on. You'll be doing uhh.." His eyes continued to roll around, attempting to focus on her face and not her undies. "..minipet feeding duty with me. Don't think you've had experience with them yet.. so uhh.. Please meet me in the Life labs when you are dressed!" Bix was attempting to be the official superior officer to distract from PANTIES but it seemed like he was about to run off. If she dressed fast he'd probably stick around to walk with her, but for the moment he looked ready to flee.

Seeing as low blood pressure plus just being Ofelia meant it too the girl a second to two to figure out she wasn't wearing pants, and she slowly closed the door as she shuffled about to find something to put on. Settling for some shorts (she liked shorts) and a regular tshirt, she tied her jacket around her waist and slid her feet into their usual flip-flops before poking her head out the door. Thankfully Bix was still there (and really red despite being so pale - Ofelia had no idea what an albino was), and she sheepishly grinned at him as she closed the door behind her.
"Thanks fer waitin'. Sorry 'bout that, Ah tend ta sleep whenever Ah'm not needed." She also tended to sleep in the nude or just her underwear, so being in a shirt when she answered the door was a stroke of chance. Really. Her hair still hung about her shoulders as she properly approached Bix, and the teen moved to tie it into a knot at the base of her neck. She couldn't find her eye, not that she'd looked for it in the hurry to get dressed, so her companion would have to deal with looking at an empty socket for now.
She yawned and stretched as she waited for her superior to start walking, not knowing where she was going at all. "So, uh...what's a minipet? Some kinda creature?"

"Ah.. Bix swallowed but was regaining his cool to see her dressed. Short shorts? OH NO. LEGS. HIS WEAKNESS. "Well ahh umm.. You should start getting into a routine. It might seem easy now but once missions start coming along quickly you're gonna regret not training more." He was surely just trying to give her a push. He didn't want to sound bossy or mean. He just happened to be pretty driven. He didn't want to lead anyone really, but he did want to do well. Bix didn't stare or seem weirded out by the eye. He had always considered himself to be a visual oddity so he'd learned long ago to respect the differences of the underdog. At least he tried his best to follow that point of view. Of course he hadn't any idea about the eye from their first meeting so it was a bit of a surprise. He just kept his eyes on the hallway and lead Ofie towards the labs. "Minipets are small animals that Halloweeners keep as pets. They are kind of neat. Some are scary or creepy and others are pretty cute." Bix flashed her a smile. "Most of the girls like minis since we can't have pets here. We have to feed them and walk and play with them though... so the Lifers can study them." They had just passed through a door, a long hall ahead of them, and at the end some stairs. The life labs were not far beyond.

"Routine? well, okay - if ya say so. Fer now Ah dun really see harm in jus' sleepin' when Ah'm not needed if it's all the same ta ya. Back home Ah used ta sleep a lot on account when it got dark the voices got louder. Hardly ever got a full night's sleep witout them voices screamin'." Ofelia made a mental note of what Bix was saying to her about being prepared, and she nodded her head a few times to show that she was taking it all to heart and not just blowing it out one ear despite chattering on like she was. He was good company, mostly because he wasn't staring at her and her missing eye - also he'd waited while she got dressed and didn't leave her to find her way on her own. She liked that about him, from their little brief encounters that is.
When talk turned to minipets, Ofelia's face somewhat lit up. She liked animals, or rather she likes small things, so even things that weren't from the humanish area sounded okay to her. Creepy and scary were more often then not adorable. "Are we allowed ta hold 'em?"

Bix didn't push the issue too far. Maybe she was right. Maybe she could just sleep until she was needed. Maybe she was tough and would be fine when the next middle of the night mission popped up. Bix didn't know her at all but he knew that for himself sitting around or sleeping wasn't an option. He always liked to be doing something. "Well you're not alone." Bix gave her a smile then. "Not with the voices thing. At least we all have that in common right?" The albino hunter pushed through the doors leading to the labs. It was another long hall but every room led to some sort of science lab. Some were empty and dark, others dark with strange glowing in the emptiness. Others were just packed with white coated figures in safety gear. Bix pushed through another door to find themselves in the minipet labs. "So the pets are in these cage.. chamber type things. They can't live for extended time in our FEARless environment. We can only take them out long enough to feed them, play with them.. you know." Bix was already moving over to start opening cages.

"Eeeeeeeee." They....they were adorable. All the little pets in different shapes and sizes, some looking downright angry at her and others looking so cute she just wanted to squeeze them in her arms forever, seemed to just make her beyond happy. They were so many to chose from too, and she was going to help feed them and, without thinking, Ofelia moved and wrapped her arms around Bix in an excited and thankful hug. "Eee, thank ya fer bringin' me ta see these things! They're so cute!"
Ofelia was girly enough at heart to admit she liked small cute things and these animals certainly fit the bill. She let go of Bix to allow him to continue opening them, and she paused in front of one that looked like a small, poofy puppy. "Oh, oh, what's this one called? Do they got specific names fer their kinds, an' then pet names too? Are ya supposed ta name 'em?" Gah, so many questions! It was like all the sleeping she'd done before was gone and she was nothing if not full of energy. So much energy, in fact, she was almost bouncing in place. "Anythin' Ah can do ta help ya wit' right away? Do ya need me ta stand back or sommin'?"

"They are all different names. You can name them if you want. I don't really.. cause I don't do this very often." He laughed as he watched Ofie with the minis. "Oh that's a foxfire. Yeah everyone loves those.." A haunt foxfire found it's way to him, its tiny legs barely there as they flickered in and out with it's ghostly form. "Kinda weird but cute." He brought out some FEAR candies to feed to the pets and held out some for Ofie to take. "It is the easiest job though.. playing with pets.. AHHH I HATE THAT ONE." He threw a candy at a BunnyWunny in it's cage, tongue lolling grossly around.

"Weird an' cute are usually the best combos out there. S'hard ta find jus' cute stuffs if yer not willin' ta overlook the weird or damaged parts, right?" Ofelia lifted the foxfire up and held it close to her face, the little creature staring at her. She had to move it a bit to her right in order to see clearer but she smile none the less, nuzzling her nose against its. "Sadly though people only like stuff that's pure an' perfect an' not torn in any way." When the FEAR candy was handed to her she gave it to the small creature, setting both down to make sure it could eat properly. "Ah was never allowed a pet back home on account'a me always gettin' lost an' the coyotes eatin' local cats. Only Ah dunno if it really was coyotes, Ah figured it was sommin' else."
Maybe it was because she was a skeptic but most of the time if something went missing, it was always the creatures in the barn who took them or something else. There never seemed to be that many coyotes for all the animals in the area to just randomly disappear, and Ofelia frowned as she pulled her hand away from petting the firefox. She turned to look at the weird rabbit thing and sort of felt her shoulders hunch up, the creature really kinda gross after all. "Okay, that thing is jus' kinda gross, not cute or whatever. Gross."
Weird she could handle, but not gross. Gross things needed to get the hell away from her, and she backed a bit behind Bix. "Why wouldya even have that here? Testin' or sommin'?"

Bix smirked a little when Ofie hid from the thing. "Yeah I think the Lifers study these things. So they can learn more about FEAR." Bix tossed some food in to the more hideous pets. BunnyWunny, PuppyWuppy, TeddyWeddy... and all the Veggies which lolled grossly in their own cages. "You wanna see something really crazy?" He motioned for her to come around a corner with him. The foxfires toddled along with them, brushing against their legs, yapping, chasing their tails. "Check these out. They are like living dolls that look like the teachers at Amityville." He pointed at some glowering voodoo dolls. "Amityville is the school there, at Halloween. It's usually where we do missions. See this one?" He pointed to the 'Red doll'. "She infiltrated the hunters and even bonded with a weapon. Don't worry though... as far as I know she's dead. We were there." He pulled down his collar pretty far in the back to show her just the very top of the light scarring that covered his back. "So what do you think of it all?" The whole shabang. Minis, Deus, weapons. All of it.

"All of it? It's an adventure an' Ah'm lovin' every minute of it. People here dun seem scared of what's commin' an' we're all gettin' tagether ta fight back. This club is really acceptin' too, they took me in even though Ah got only one eye an' a few other things." Ofelia reached over and petted one of the foxfires that was at elbow level before she bent down and picked up another one. She nuzzled her nose against its, liking to do that, before she heard the mention of a school and of dolls and of people dying. "Dolls? A school, are ya flippin' kiddin' me? Those voices are real an have a school....." She trailed off and her brows raised up in surprise for a moment, then concern, as Bix showed off the scar he'd gotten. "This is...."
She probably should have asked permission but well personal space meant next to nothing to Ofelia, and the teen reached out with her free hand (the other still had the minipet) and she softly placed her fingertips against the scar were she could. "This is beautiful. It looks so strikin' on yer pretty pale skin, like a nice contrast. A victory tattoo or sommin'." She pulled her hand back just as quickly as she'd touched and returned to nosing at the foxfire. "Ah like these lil' doggies the best outta what ya've shown me, they're so cute an' affectionate. Everythin' else can jus' die in a fire over there or sommin'."

Bix wanted, so badly, to ask about her eye but he was afraid of offending her. Maybe he could slip into conversation surreptitiously? But then they began talking about the school and she touched his scars. A few goosebumps rose, just because he wasn't used to any girl touching his skin. He turned a bit pink at the compliment. "Battle scars. Chicks dig scars right?" He laughed to keep from being awkward. "You'll see their school soon enough. You'll probably be surprised like the rest of us. They act like.." he frowned and scrunched his face. "They act like they are normal or something. Like they are just normal teenagers going to high school. It's weird as hell." "Oh wait! Let me show you a few more and then we can head back. These are cute too." He passed some slime pets, threw food into them which just hit their bodies and dissolved. He passed a Gremlurk, some Unmentionables, a small pen full of sleeping Pygmy Dragons, and found the section full of Treats. "They are like carebears.. except they have wings and tails." He opened the door and a Tenderheart Treat flutter out to land on his shoulder with a pleasant cooing sound. "So umm.. ok don't be mad. How did that happen to your eye?" So much for 'slipping it into conversation'.

Ahhh....there it was. Eventually everyone asked about either her massive scar or her eye, and Ofelia wasn't too offended (read: She wasn't offended at all). She wasn't wearing her fake eye at the moment anyway so it wasn't like the clear lack of something wasn't obvious. "Mah eye? Ah got it stabbed out by a pitchfork when Ah was six. Mah brother an' Ah were tryin' ta kill the monsters that lived in the barn an' he hit me wit' a board an' Ah fell inta a wall. A pitchfork came down an' stabbed me in the face, takin' mah eye out in the process." Ofelia moved the hair that had dropped over her face out of the way with her hand, showing off a massive scar that ran from forehead to chin. It was semi-pink, a sign that it was old and past the point of properly healing, and Ofelia smiled softly. The eye socket, for itself, was empty and clean; doctors had put many an hour of effort into making sure that a fake eye would fit in properly. Ofelia hardly remembered to wear the eye most of the time. "Mah brother tried ta bury me in hay thinkin' Ah was dead. It's been many a year, but as ya can guess bein' a girl wit' a huge scar like this didn' get me many favors."
Ofelia lowered her hand back down and patted the hair once it dropped over the socket. She wasn't ashamed of her missing eye by any means of the imagination. There was a weird sort of pride she had in it, knowing she could survive normally with only one eye functioning, and she grinned back at Bix. "Ah remember bein' told Ah was ugly as hell growin' up, an' sometimes kids would hold me down an' shove stuff in mah eye socket. Had lots of infections in it durin' mah middle school years." she paused, then went on. "Er, sorry if Ah sound like a downer. Ah'm fine wit' people askin' 'bout mah eye - jus' as yer probably okay wit' people askin' bout yers? Ah'm actually jealous, yer eyes are so pretty an' yer skin is so pretty too."
