It didn't seem like so long had passed since the cast list went up but it was true. Tonight was opening night. The buzz in the auditorium sounded like a hive of bees as people took their seats and chatted lightly, waiting for the show to begin. Kyndall took a peek into the dimmed house and noted that a sizable crowd had gathered. Seems there were more patrons of the arts in Destiny City than she'd anticipated.

Hanging from the ceiling was a video camera to capture the performance in, she hoped, an unobtrusive way. Microphones would be secreted in costumes to give better sound. The DVDs would be on sale at the ball immediately following the show to benefit her charity of choice. That was what drove Kyn, her passion, the arts. She'd benefit it however she could to give others the chance to be as passionate as she was.

She moved back behind the curtain and into the side drama room where her actors were busy arriving and getting ready. She beamed with pride. She had confidence in this group. Sure, some of them made her a bit nervous on her behalf but her job was done. Now all that was left was to watch the children take their steps and do what they practiced.

"Hey guys! Listen up!" she called, hoping they'd gather and sort of half way pay attention. "It's a good crowd out there but don't pay attention to them. You're doing this for me and the crew and you're doing this for yourself. I know you'll all be GREAT! Break a leg!"

She looked at Johnny and smiled. "Well, not literally." But it was tradition.

CAST:

Die Roll 1 – 1d10 May reroll once and hour with accompanying post. ((pep talk to self. Listening to someone else be nervous, etc)) Must reroll at least twice on first day

1-2 Player is petrified and must act as such during their interactions. You have a case of the what ifs and everything is going wrong!

3-4 Not entirely nervous but not all that confident, either. You often fluctuate between the two.

5-6 Beyond psyched. Everything you do is overzealous and amped. “I can take on the world! Bring it!”

7-8 Cool as a cucumber. You’re ready…you know you are.

9-10 Angry – take this however you like. Angry at the others for acting the way they are. Angry at yourself for not practicing harder, etc. You can be angry for pretty much anything you like pertaining to the play.

Crew:

You guys are the gurus. You don't need to roll for now but do post.

Don't pay attention to the crowd!? That line made Bell, who was already wearing her 'serious business' vibe like a garish obtrusive veil, made her want to reach out and strangle someone.

The audience was very important to an actor's performance! At the best of times they provided the actors with energy and reassurance! At the worst of times...well, hopefully the crowd as civilized. But still! Bell couldn't believe what she was hearing. But then again, that had happened a lot at the previous rehearsals as well. She had always done her best, however, to voice her disagreements as politely as possible, which was really, really, hard at times.

Oh well. If things went badly, it wasn't for lack of trying. Bell had put forward every effort to help fellow cast members that would accept it, had given advice even when it probably wasn't even wanted. At the very least, she'd rock her part, small and short as it was. That gave her plenty of time to help the others behind stage....

Something wasn't right.

Lancelot, or rather, Kess, furrowed a brow as she peeked out from behind the curtain, glancing over the large crowd. Everything should have been right. She'd pregamed with Daphne earlier in the afternoon, before separating to get ready, she knew her part front and back, and she looked handsome as ******** in her costume, hair combed for once, and makeup subtly making her already boyish features more masculine.

She wasn't the type to be nervous, but she felt uncomfortable.

Kyndall spoke to all of them, and she found the speech not at all inspiring, instead glancing around for the familiar faces of her cast members, trying to see if something about them was throwing her off.

The blonde went over her routine, preparing for the role, one last time, and it hit her...

"Oh, no..."

[ Fritz is the set designer ]

"Quick quick - get that - no, the other one - no, the oth - yes, that one, it goes on top of the pedestal - the second one, not the first - Bill, do you have the - yes, thank you - "

One of the better things about being a set designer was that he wouldn't have to go out and actually face the audience, Fritz decided - at least not bodily. However, the set he and the rest of the artistically minded crew had spent weeks building, painting, scratching, fixing, posing, and perfecting was about to be on display for everyone to see, regardless of whether or not they were good or not.

Fritz really hoped they were good. Or, at least, he hoped the audience thought they were good, considering all of the effort everyone had put into it. With paint smeared across his face, hands, and the apron he had thrown haphazardly over his clothes to prevent just that, Fritz was running around somewhat like a chicken with its head cut off. He supposed he should have been more collected, especially considering he had most certainly been in more life threatening situations than having his artwork on display for the world to see (like his entire second life, for that matter), but it did not stop him from being a little nervous all the same.

Especially since he couldn't find the paint to touch up one of the backdrops for the second act that had gotten smeared.

"Bloody - oh, Guen, darling, there you are."

The girl in question was a sixteen year old from Crystal Academy that had been working with Fritz to help with the set. He did not know her all that well, but she had been rather helpful during the entire rehearsal process, and now he bounced up to her, grabbing her wrist.

"I need your help, dearest, come with me - "

Then he proceeded to drag her off in search of the right paint.

[ Maggie is working with sound and lighting ]

Twenty feet above the stage and set on the wall completely opposite it, Magiore Carpenter sat in the balcony control booth, leaning forward, a headset clamped over his ears and a look of great concentration on his face. In front of him stretched the soundboard; to his left, the large expanse of switches and buttons for the lighting. His hair tied back into a loose ponytail, dressed in all black, he was scrutinizing the lightboard as he tried to figure out why it was too bright on one side of the auditorium.

"Damn switches," he muttered, with some irritation. It was fortunate that he knew what he was doing, at the very least, and both boards were easy for him to operate, but the lighting was not operating as it should have been and it was making him grumpy.

Finally, however, Magiore located what the issue was and carefully, slowly lowered the brightness on the left side. Then he leaned back in his swivel chair, pinching the bridge of his nose between two fingers.

The play hasn't even started yet and I'm already stressed.

While some others might be freaking out Alexandre was ready, he knew he was. He'd been working his a** off reading the script over and over, and over again. He'd worked with Johnathan and spent extra time after rehearsal's. Perhaps it was in order to make up for the lack of experience, in fact it was, but all the extra work had calmed his nerves so he was able to wander around back stage watching everything.

Oddly enough it almost felt like he wasn't in his body fully, yet he knew he was. It was just the calm which had settled over him, he'd been playing classical music on the way here earlier in the evening to keep his nerves from rising and over taking him. Now it seemed to have remained, thankfully.

Moving around, avoiding those who were hurrying about, backstage Alexandre found his attention drawn to the set pieces. He'd been watching as they were painted, wishing he could have gotten involved in that as opposed to being on stage performing. Painting was something he was good at, even if he did only work in water colors. He knew he could work with other paints, if he wanted or needed to. Instead he was in his costume, which wasn't all that bad, looking at the set pieces with a smile touching his features.

"Kyndall got a talented painting group." He hadn't really been able to pay attention to the painting while working on rehearsal's, too busy trying to get his lines down to pay attention to the painting going on. Maybe next time Kyndall put on a play he'd jump and offer to paint sets, as to avoid this and in order to gain an excuse to paint. His free time to paint was limited at present, making it a need would allow him more time to indulge.

[Guen is an errand girl for the set designer/whoever needs it]

Guen was chewing her nails and glancing around a little nervously. She wasn't very good at acting OR art, but she had really needed some extra theater credit and the play had seemed like the perfect opportunity. Besides, she took orders well, a valuable skill in it's own right. But now she was worried- had they gotten everything done? Had they missed anything crucial? She hoped especially that everything had been put together properly - it would NOT do to have everything fall over on the players. She frowned a little. Oh well. If it DID happen, at least she hadn't been in charge of that part of the gruntwork...

Yes, it wasn't so much as Guen was hoping it would go well, as she was hoping it wouldn't be a disaster.

And then she was off, her musing interrupted as Fritz toted her off for - something. "Oh goodness, did something break? Is everything alright?" By the end of that sentence her voice had risen to a somewhat frantic squeak.

[ Sir Gawain ]

Costuming and remembering his lines had been Björn’s primary concerns of this
whole ordeal. He didn’t feel very knightly. The costume was a good go, what was her name, Laney? Yes, Laney...she’d worked very hard. They’d never spoken much during the fittings. Everyone else had been so simple. They seemed so good at this acting and remembering their lines. It was a blessing that some of his friends were in the play - Johnny and Talia both were real boosts to his confidence. When they hadn’t been at official practices, he’d been going over his lines and practicing the script with his roommate.

Every. Night.

At the least Gawain wasn’t really figured much into the play until later. He toyed with a few of the armor straps of his costume, making sure they were properly tightened for the third time in an hour. He knew his lines. He knew them by heart. He knew all the director’s stage directions and where he was supposed to be. This was going to okay. It was all going to go off wonderfully. Everyone had been working too hard for it to go otherwise.

Micah had this. Beyond had this, Micah was this. She lived, breathed, and existed for this. This moment, this play, this time. She she turned in her costume, silve sword gleaming on her hip and fake beard tickling her neck, she knew this to be true. She could feel her heart pounding against her chest in this semi nervous flutter of anticipation. And what more could be expected of her? Practice was one thing. In rehersals if she messed up it was one thing. She was familiar with most of the people present, if only through teh contact provided by the play. Now however, it was totally different. If she messed up...

No. Micah would not mess up. She fixed her face with a look of grim determination, betrayed only by the flicker ofa grin that threatened to burst into a fully blown beam of joy.

Oh god, it was here. Not an hour ago she'd kissed her family good bye as they parted ways; Micah for the dressing rooms and her family for thier seats. They were out there, waiting for her to stride on stage like they knew she would, and be the Micah they knew. And Micah couldn't wait.

"What, so can we go now? Can we start now?" She almost bounced on the balls of her feet as she questioned, dancing to the wings and trying to take a peek out at the audience.

Johnathan is the resident moron/Galahad]

"HnnnnnNNFNNFNFNfffffffffffffffffffffffffff." was sputtered, but no one really knew what it translated to.

Johnathan Miller bust through the door leading backstage, his hoodie half on his body and half furling in the wind. His hair was a mess and part of his script was stuck to his face, leading him to trip over the nearest cable and fall flat on his face. He didn't mean to be late - it just so happened that he missed his bus ride over here and just decided to book it as fast as could instead. Once he was flat on solid ground, the boy huffed. He was seething at himself for missing the bus and even more seething at the bus driver who saw him, saw him and kept going anyway.

He wanted to cry!

Turning over, the boy then wondered what he was supposed to do then. Did they have to have costu---OHGODCOSTUMES! "WHADDU I DO. Alex! Aleeeex! Alex WHADDU I DOOOOOO!" came a squeak from the boy on the floor. His anger apparently came out in flailing and seizures of immaturity confined to a space on the floor backstage.

(( Johnny: Can I break a hip instead? blaugh ....can I break someone else's hip? ))

Micah's wonder and glee was interrupted by the boy who had burst backstage and began to throw a fit. Being in the wings, Micah couldn't actually see what was happening, but, curious little thing that she was, she flitted over the the prostrate boy and crouched down to meet him, grinning happily despite his apperent anger. She should probably tone that down, she thought seriosuly, forcing her smile into a concerned frown.

She gently lowered a hand to Johnny's shoulder and gave him a gentle grin.

"Alright now, Suzy, pack up the drama and calm your a** down. Panic is only going tomake things worse, and there's no reason to upset the rest of us." Her grin turned into a sideways smirk as she straightened her back, but remained crouching next to him.

This. Was. Awesome. She, Daphne Proudmoore, was about to exonerate through drama a woman who was grossly misunderstood to have the worst of motives towards the idealized kingdom of Camelot. The play would start with her innocent seduction (what an oxymoron that concept was) of the young Arthur, bearing his child in secret and raising him to be a king. Perhaps not the king that Camelot wanted but the one it desperately needed!

Yeah she totally was making Batman parallels. So what?

Not even Johnny's panic attack could shake her. She was The Unshakable. Wasn't there a woman somewhere called The Unsinkable? Straightening the black wig over her cap of blue hair, the teen grinned at her reflection in the small compact mirror kept in her pocket for between-scene checkups. Yep. Unsinkable.

It may or may not have had something to do with the fact that Kess' idea of a pep talk involved not a whole ton of talking, and was full of ridiculously interesting compliments when it was. It was a bit awkward though to see Kess done up in full armor, yet Zac's robes fit him perfectly. Daphne was at least forced to admit that the gown she was stuffed into for her role was suitably dramatic; she was pretty fond of black when it was all said and done, and this thing was black and beautiful.

"We are so going to rock this."

Irritation, anger, not an uncommon emotion for him per say, he was just normally better about keeping it out of his face and his eyes. He rubbed his temple as he flubbed his recollection of the line he’d been looking over and gritted his teeth. He thought that one girl was sulking and it just added to the irritation.

He took a deep breath and tried hard to rationalize it. Not enough sleep, hadn’t really planned to get this roll, he’d been fine until everyone started chattering. Daphne looked almost exasperatingly exuberant.

He glanced at Kess and started to speak before realizing he’d say something horrid about…well, everything. At least he didn’t look like the only one who was irritated. Calm he had to be calm. Maybe he could pretend to be getting into character. Merlin was clearly a grumpy old man and all that.
