Ronin sighed and looked around... why had his brother asked him to come here? He had no idea. They had healed their relationship, mostly at least, and right now he just wanted to to be with his delicate mate... not with his moody brother.

He looked around, hoping that his twin would appear already.... though part of him was also pleaing that he didn't turn up with Ichi! He didn't want to see her right now, although he had forgiven Kisho for 'taking her' from him, he could quite bare the sight of her.... not because she had offended him, or because he was still in love with her... but because it hurt. It hurt just thinking about her and what happened, let alone being confronted with it face to face. Soon he would make an effort and go see her... but for now, he would just heal his mind.

He looked to the sky, the sun was starting to go down and still his brother wasn't here. He could have sworn he said dusk.... it was dusk now... or had he mixed up time's again? It wouldn't surprise him considering how distracted he was. He moved his tail on the ground just as he felt something cold on his nose. He winked and crossed his eyes to see a small white thing melting on his nose.

Something moved to his left and his head snapped to see..... his brother. At long last. "Kisho... nice of you to finally show up."

Kisho had been running for what felt like days, Ichi had asked for some fruit and he tried all day to find it. Then just as he had finally brought it back to Ichi he found his eyes looking to the sky wondering what he had forgotten. At first he had brought up nothing but blanks.... then he remembered; He was meant to meet his brother!

So, he started running again. His lungs protesting from the excess exercise. His hooves slamming into the ground over and over again, his heart pounding in his chest and roaring in his ears. Kisho was tired, and had started to slow down just before he got there. Slowing his pace he found himself panting as he finally reached the location he was meant to meet his brother. Sure enough his brother was already there... looking prime, proper and perfect... as always. Sometimes Kisho just wanted to tug on that mass of hair that he delicately set up on his head. He woudl be damned if he ever wore his own hair like that... despite what the family tradition was he wanted nothing to do with that style. It was bad enough that he had to see it on his sibling every time they met up.

Trying to catch his breath he slummed to the ground and just focused on breathing for a moment. In... Out... In.... Out. His chest started to feel a little better and he felt like his lungs had actually kicked back into working order again. A sigh escaped him as he looked up at his younger brother. "Ronin." He smiled, his rogue-like grin that spoke volumes towards his personality. "Sorry I am late... had a situation."

Ronin raised an eye at Kisho's behaviour, and completely forgot about the wait. All that mattered was if Kisho was ok or not. He lowered himself to the ground bside his brother and looked him in the eyes, a soft smile upon his face. "Is everything ok? You look...." Terrible was the word on the tip of his tongue but he couldn't quite bring himself to say it, instead he said, "...tired." Trying to be polite as always.

Again he was hit with something wet, white and cold. His eyes snapped to the sky for a moment to see the grey clouds that seemed thick and heavy with something he would rather not see at the moment.... snow. Joy! He would end up trapped here. His flutter wings less than useless in the snow, and depending how quick it fell would depend how quick he could walk home.. and then there was Kisho, who seemed unable to breath on his own let alone walk home. Which meant Ronin would stay with him. He wanted to curse! Why couldn't he have just had a day or two alone with his mate before all this added drama?

With a sigh of surrended he returned his attention to the task at hoof.... his brother, Kisho.

Kisho continued to pant even as he looked up with a soft sadness towards his twin. Ronin was far too good to him... he had forgiven him despite all the terrible things he had done! He was sure if the tables had been reversed Kisho would still be mad at Ronin, would probably have never forgave his twin... new mate or not. And this new mate of Ronins, well she was a curiousity to Kisho, especially since Ronin seemed to hord her away so greedily. He hoped one day they could all meet... but until that day he would settle for what he had. His brother back.

Just as Ronin's eyes looked to the sky he felt something cold and wet upon his rump. His eyes snapped upwards also. "Snow!" he breathed out a curse, "If I had know... I wouldn't have.... oh, Gods.... I am so sorry Ronin!" He was a selfish being sure, but he wouldn't have dragged Ronin out in the snow had he known. Neither of them had ever liked the stuff, even as foals they had detested it even as everyone else seemed to love it. Their mother teases saying it was their twin link that assured they both hated it. Another sign that they were meant to be together, for they could understand each other better than anyone else. Of course that had change when their parents had died... each wanted something different.

Dragging himself back to his four hooves he said; "Come on... let's go find some shelter before we turn into snowman.... or worst... icicles." Cold was not Kisho's favourite weather.

Ronin glared at his brother, this constant apology he seemed to have have on repeat was really starting to drive him crazy! And it was unlike his brother that it actually had Ronin worried. "Stop it!" He growled, folding his flutter wings into his sides, "I learnt a long time ago Kisho that you DON'T know everything...." He sighed turning his head away, before whispering his next words; "No matter how much I had wanted you to." Slightly less worked up now he caught his brothers gaze once more. "You didn't know it would snow, so stop beating yourself up about it! I already told you I forgave you... for.... well... eh... you know!" Ok, so the whole Ichi situation still stung like a bee sting on steroids! But he really did forgive his brother, being pushed away by his selfishness had actually lead Ronin to discover something truely amazing, something that was his and his alone. Of course, even knowing that did make it any easier to let Kisho meet her! Too soon, memories too fresh... but this time he simply couldn't stand the possibility that his brother may just be God's gift to all woman, including his!

Looking up, he watched as the snow started to fall heavier, the flakes still small and fine. Man! He really did hate this stuff. "But yeah.... let's do the logical thing and go find some shelter....Lets get out of the snow." It wouldn't be long until there was a fine coating of the horrid cold melty white stuff upon his pelt, hair and wings..... he shivered at the mere thought.

"Ideas?" He asked, his focus once again on the world he lived in rather than the snow filled skies he already despised. Ronin hoped his brother hadn't lost his edge when it came to helping them both escape and hide.

Kisho grunted and ground his teeth together, what could he say to that? He really was an arse, and by constantly apologising for all the little things he was doing he never thought of how he could upset his brother. Selfish arsehole! He growled the thought words at himself. He wanted to say 'sorry', the responce automatic now but he bit back the responce.... GAH! He had never been one to apologise before! Why now? Why did he suddenly feel bad about everything he had done?

Kisho wasn't lying to himself, he knew he had been an arse.... he had left his brother against their parents wishes in search for a life of his own, and although he was a little more beaten than his brother he wouldn't have changed his exploring for the world. Then when he returned he drove his brother out with his need to show who was dominate... Pathetic! Really.

Deciding he needed to say something he simply grumbled; "Fine.... I'll try." He hadn't missed his brothers whispers words, they simply tugged at a part of him he wasn't willing to listen to right now. "Lets get out of the snow." He said, a soft chuckle at how his words echoed his brothers.

Kisho knew which way to go, he had seen several places that would accomidate him and Ronin in their smaller forms in the West, and knew of a cave able to hold their larger forms in the East. The trees were closer so that made his decision easier. "This way." He said, starting to walk off.... there was a time when he would have just continued, certain that his brother would simply follow, yet this time he hesitated, paused to wait for his brother to join him before he continued.

Things really had changed.... but had they been for the best as far as Kisho was concerned?

Ronin nodded to his brother, quite happy to follow him. It had been a while since they had been together just like this... Kisho leading the way, while Ronin was cautious and apprehesive. He liked to think that that particular side of him was gone, but he was sure it surfaced every now and then.

He raised his eyebrow at the fact that Kisho had waited for him, that was unusual.... but then again his brother had been acting strange for a while now. He huffed and tried to ignore it as he caught up. Maybe if he just started ignoring some of Kisho's behavour he would soon get over it and return his old self.... Ronin actually prefered the idea of seeing arrogant, self assured and confident Kisho over the near sniffling creature before him.

"Where we headed?" Ronin may be completely happy to follow and trust his brother, but he was no longer the young colt that followed blindly... no... he wanted... needed.... information now. Perhaps he had truely grown.

Kisho couldn't believed how relieved he was that Ronin joined him. He actually felt himself release a breath he hadn't realised he had been holding. Somehow, with Ronin beside him he almost, almost felt like they were kids again... just another day... just another adventure. They had been inseperable... right up until their parents had died. They had shared everything, Kisho had defended Ronin and Ronin had taught Kisho things. The perfect match. The yin and yang of the world. He could still remember how his mother would smile down at them as say daft things like they were the Moon and Sun, of two halves of a flower.... different but only able to exsist with the other.

He frowned. Now was not the time to be remembering their mother. Huffing a little he turned to face Ronin. "A tree... I saw one as I ran here, we will have to shrink but the old Oak has more than enough room hidden in his old hallow trunk to keep us both safe and hidden.... at least for a while." If the snow continued to fall for days and days they would soon discover two huge problems.... No food. No drink. Kisho only hoped that that wouldn't be the case.

Ronin felt the cold wind go straight through his body, causing him to shiver and dither, he was at least thankful that his brother had a plan... once again proving that his confidence in the guy was well placed, after all his brother had never let him down when it really mattered, if you ignored the fact that he had stole Ichi from him simply because he could. Still, the more Ronin thought about it, the more he realised that he had never really had Ichi, he liked watching her from afar, liked talking to her, but never did he actually try to claim her. Unlike his own mate... he had taken control there.

"Was it empty?" He asked, though it was more to keep his mind from freezing up, to keep himself engaged and distracted from the bitterness that was the snow around them. It stuck to his fur, mane and wings. Yeah, he really hated the stuff. "Is it far?" That question in particular seemed really important, after all he didn't want to have to walk for too long in this weather.

Kisho laughed at his brother, "I think so. It looked pretty abandoned to me." Which he hoped would at least be a good omen and not a bad one. Of course, most of the hollows and tree hidey holes were empty, something that boded well for the flutters since they could hide from predators and prying eyes in such things.

He took a deep breath and looked around to catch his barings, he didn't want to lead them astray, especially as the world covered with white turning it to one colour that was sure to disorientate him if they didn't pick up the pace. "Not far," He commented, almost distracted. "Let's pick up the pace though, I don't want to be out in this longer than we have to." With that he picked up the pace, secure in the knowlegde that his brother would follow.

It didn't take too long to find the tree in question. "This is it." He said, though he was sure Ronin had figured that out given he had stopped to stare at the thing.

Ronin followed his brother without question, hooves slamming into the ground so that he could keep up with his faster brother. Unlike Kisho, Ronin wasn't very good at this kind of physical exertion, he was getting better but that didn't really help him now. He was thankful when they eventually stopped. He was huffing and panting while his brother seemed uneffected by it all.

"Abandoned you say..." He said huffing as he looked up at the hole in question, "....I would have to agree." He closed his eyes for a moment and focused simply one trying to breath.

After a moment he looked up to see his brother looking at him with concern, something that irritated Ronin beyond belief. He didn't want his brothers pity or sympathy, didn't want to be seen as less or weaker than him either. That was probably why he stuck out his chest with determination and spoke quickly before shrinking. "Let's now hang around here all day then!" Whooosh Shrink, when he had been a foal it had taken a lot of concentration and effort to shrink, but with practise it had become far easier and second nature. He wasn't quite as small as most flutters, but in full form he wasn't as large as most unicorns either. Instead a mix of the two. He flew around his brothers head once before making his way to hole in the tree. There was no lining of grass or feathers, but it was would do to keep them protected from the winds and snow that continued to blow and fall.

Kisho had looked over at his brother in concern, had he pushed them that hard? It was rare to see his brother look so weak, after all their competative nature with each other usually meant that they were too stubborn to show the other when they were struggling. Something that once again rang true when Ronin seemed to realise what he had done and puffed out his chest like a bird trying to assert its dominance. For a moment all could do was blink in surprise at his brothers words and action, even as the guy flew around his head before venturing to the tree.

It took a moment longer for Kisho to act. He was constantly being knocked off guard by his brother... had it always been that way? Blinking he shook his head and shrunk also before flying to join his brother. He didn't want to leave the guy alone, or leave it too long that his wings were too wet and cold to fly at all.

In the tree he looked around, it would serve a purpose if nothing else. He walked towards his brother and sat down next to him before tugging on his hair to do the same. "Come keep me warm." He presented his request with arrogance on purpose, wanting to encourage his brother to take pity on him rather than see it as Kisho taking pity on him. In truth, Kisho wanted to make sure his brother was safe and warm, especially so that his little mate wouldn't want to kill Kisho should Ronin ever decide he was truthworthy enough to be around her... Kisho hoped that one day that would be the case. After all, he really did want to be part of his twin brothers life.
