 Netta licked her lips as she spotted the most delicious fruit hanging from a tree above her head. Pink eyes narrowing she thought of how to get it down and after a few minutes climbing was decided as the best way to come about getting said fruit. Nodding and moving she cautious crept along the tree trunk careful of the vines that were hanging down. Once at the top she breathed a sigh of relief and then looked down. Down. "I didn't realize how high this was...You can do this Netta! Get the fruit and get down!"
With an encouraging nod of her head she leaned forward and got the fruit in mouth. A muffled joyious sound escaped her mouth before the branch she had been leaning on snapped. A gasped escaped her mouth before she fell tangled into vines. "Oof!" She came to a jerking hault and hung like a puppet a few inches from the ground. "Wonderful.. How do I get outta this now." She moaned in embarrassment as she stared down at the fruit she had dropped.

  "Marakl! Where are we gooooing? My paws hurt? Can't we sit down and rest for a minute? Pretty, pretty, please?" A young, female wild dog's voice whined loudly through the air and a moment later two figures appeared from the undergrowth; one dark, one pale.
The lead one was a shorter, stockier canine with a large, square snout and a mane of scruffy fur along his neck. A hyena, then. He paused a moment to throw a look back, his tail wagging once to show his good natured response to the slender canine trailing behind. His tongue lolled and he chuckled in response. "I smell food, Kal. Real food!"
"Really?" The dainty wild dog, all slim and slender next to his stocky frame sniffed at the air. "I...don't smell anything."
"Your nose broken?" Marakl replied. "Come on, Kal. Keep up. Your paws won't be so tired once we've--"
And then there was the sound of a snapping branch and the pair startled simultaneously and turned their eyes back in the direction they had been heading. Just a few paces away, a feline...hung tangled in vines.
"OH!" Kalpana exlaimed loudly. "Look at that, Mal! You ever seen anything like it?"
The pair were too curious for their own good and a moment later they were hastening forwards to the tree in which the cheetah had gotten herself caught. They arrived with a lot of noise and excited yipping that fell quiet a moment later as they assessed the situation.
"What are you doing up there?" Marakl asked loudly. "You're not supposed to be up there."
Kalpana nodded. "He's right you know. Only monkeys climb trees." And that creature was certainly not a monkey. Even Kalpana knew that. "Do you want--OH--" She interrupted herself at the sight of the fruit lying on the ground and gave a squeal of delight. "Mal, Mal, Mal. Foooooood!" And she leaned forwards to pick the fruit up in her mouth. "Yoush wehhr righssh aftaaa all." She continued happily.
"See! Told yah so!" The hyena exclaimed, looking back up at the cheetah. "I told her it'd be worth the trip."

Her inner thoughts were interrupted by noise and she watched in dismay as two canines ate her food. "My precious hard-earned food!!" Netta whimpered as she watched before her eyes as her food was eaten. Frowning she wiggled fiercely to try and get out but all it did was make the vines knot worse. Letting out a sigh she sagged her body. "Ugh! I'm stuck and can't get out of this nasty mess. Also that was my food you were munching on canines...and...and..!" To her horror she felt tears sting her eyes. " Now I'm going to die of starvation cause I'm stuck in this tree!!"

Kalpana and Marakl looked up at the cheetah swinging there in the vines, their faces somewhat glazed. Kalpana' who still had a mouth full of fruit was the first one to look guilty and, flattening her ears, she spat the remnants of the food out onto the floor and gave a low whine. "I'm sorry! I thought it was anyone's food."
"Ohhhh, so that's why you're up there." Marakl added, turning to his friend. "She was getting the food."
"Seems like a lot of effort to me." Kalpana replied and then hastily continued. "Oh, oh, please don't be sad! We can help! We'll get you down. Here, watch." She reared up and set her dainty paws against the tree, trying to push her weight against it to rock the entire structure and shake the cheetah free. "IS IT WORKING?!" She yelled - though there really was no need.
Marakl gave a nervous gulp and took a step back. "I don't think so. I think you're making it worse. Um...are you falling free yet?"

Blinking she watched as the food she risked her life for was spat out on the ground causing her ears droop. "Oh!" Netta gasped as an earthquake seemed to be happening. "St-stop the world! I wh-wanna get off." Her mumbled sentence was met with a loud exclamination of inquiry that seemed to deafen for a moment. A sharp snap made Netta whirl to the sound and she only had a moment to yelp before the vines that were holding her gave way and caused her to fall ontop of the wild dog below with a painful 'oof'.
Dazed Netta tried to get off the canine, " Wh-what hit me?" She gazed blankly at the male hyena standing there watching what had happened.

Kalpana gave a startled yelp as her plan backfired and the cheetah landed on her. The weight of the other pinned her to the ground, stabbing unpleasant pain through one of her front legs. And then the feline was struggling to regain her paws and Kalpana dragged herself out of the way as Marakl answered the cat's question.
"The ground!" He announced with a wag of his tail, tongue lolling. "Hello!" The word burst from him in excitement and then he was moving forwards to snuffle his nose at her. "How did you get up that tree?"
Kalpana, groaning as she gathered her paws beneath her and tentatively set the weight back on her sprained leg, moved forwards again. "I am sorry about your food." Her eyes were apologetic. "Perhaps we can help get you something else? We wouldn't want you to starve on our account."

Netta felt her fur bristle for a moment as the hyena invated her personal bubble with all his snuffling. "I-I see. I climbed, I just used my claws and muscles to get my body up there. " Netta turned her head to watch the canine. Netta wasn't that heavy but compared to a wild dog...who knows that and she literally had been dead weight. "Are you okay? Don't worry. I suppose... I will just have to try again some where else." She eyed the two for a moment before hesitantly nodding. " Alright, thank you for the offer. I would appreciate it, and after all three is better than one I suppose."

Kalpana put a smile back on her face and gave a swift nod. "Yep, yep! I'm fine! Don't worry about it!" She sat, sweeping her tail against the floor to cloud dust into the air. "We can help! We made the problem, after all. Oh, oh, what do you think we should do, though?"
"We...don't really hunt." Marakl admitted then, his large ears lying flat. "We're scavengers, born and raised!" And that was certainly true. "Maybe we can scavenge something?"
"Or, you could give me a boost up into the tree and I could get more of those weird, squishy, fruit things?" Kalpana offered, canting her head expectantly. The taste of the fruit still lingered in her mouth and though it was odd, it certainly wasn't bad. "Either way, we won't just up and leave until you've got some food! Starving to death is not a good way to go. No, no no."
"I...don't think there's any good way to 'go'." Marakl replied. "Then it would all be over!"

Netta sneezed as the dust flew in the air, "Wonderful!" She was about to speak more when a loud grumble was heard. Putting her paw to her face while blushing Netta apologized. "Sorry its been a while and yes I think it would be best to try to climb up there again. Since the hyena has the muscles and bulk he should be at the bottom. Then me and the you wild dog. Oh I'm Netta by the way. Well let's do this! Day light is a'burnin'!"
With that said Netta moved closer to the tree and waited for the other two to follow. It looked like there was enough for the three of them. Once the fruit was picked Netta would have to high tail it back to her home before dark as she didn't like being out too late.

Kalpana and Marakl grinned as one at the sound of her stomach rumbling. It was strangely nice to know they weren't the only ones who struggled to find a bite to eat out here in unclaimed lands. Much of their time was spent moving from one carcass to the next whilst they chased rainbows across the sky.
And though the cheetah had likely heard their names through conversation, the pair introduced themselves anyway.
"I'm Kalpana! And no worries! Heights don't scare me. Quick, quick, get into position." She gave Marakl a shove who obediently moved forwards to set himself by the tree trunk.
"And I'm Marakl. Or, just Mar." And he braced himself for the fruit-picking that was to ensue.
Being in the rogue lands was hard, but being alone was harder. Together, the three of them would manage some food to keep them going for a while longer.
