Minny was far from excited. Excited was a small dot to her from where she stood. She was practically elated. Elated, yes that was a good word. Her mother had given her permission to go see Millie, and after a quick phone call over to the other girl's house, Minny was putting on her pink rain boots and orange puffy jacket to pay her friend a visit. She was to meet Millie halfway, and then they were gonna play! Elated. Yes that fit her just fine.
Millie had a bag with her that had two light sabers in it. Why waste such an afternoon and not have any training with it? She laughed and arrived at the park, beginning to set up. She was ready for today and had her jedi robes over top of her winter jacket, her warm snow boots making her really feel like a Jedi, a hero for all. She was ready to show her friend that she was a responsible jedi, just like she had wanted to show that Shalott lady.
Minny skidded around the corner, almost falling on her face. There was no way she was going to miss this! Her friend came into view, and she whooped, throwing an arm into the air in greeting. When she was close enough, she slowed to a trot, breathing heavily. "Hi Millie! How...are you?" her hands went to her sides, and she panted for a minute or two. "I ..didn't want...to be late. So I ran!" She grinned widely, taking a big breathe.
Millie laughed and rushed over, attacking the other girl with a hug. "Hi! I'm so glad we got to hang out today, I've missed getting to spend time with you a lot!" She had been busy, with the cold, and school and all her patrols, she hardly had any time to hang out with Minny anymore. It made her very, very sad. Today though. Today she had. And she wasn't going to waste a minute. "I brought light sabers for us, Minny!"
Minny took the hug and tossed it back, wrapping her arms around her fellow little girl. Millie was right, they hadn't seen each other much since school started. After homework, she was always patrolling, or too tired to and went to bed. It was nice to take a break while they could and be friends again. She accepted the light saber, flicking it so the plastic tubes opened the light saber to its full extent. "I can't wait to practice! It's been so long since I've tried!"
The red haired child laughed and bounced around for a moment, before settling into a defensive pose. "Let's see what you got, Minny;'
She smiled then swung her blue saber at the brunette, hoping that she would block as Millie had taught her in past lessons.
Minny held her ground, pulling her red light saber into a block that Millie had so carefully taught her. The plastic smacked together, and Minny grinned devilishly. "I have been training Master." She said, falling into the role of student. She pushed the saber forward, and tried to throw a swing herself toward Millie.
The child let out a happy laugh and stepped back, careful not to lose her footing. "I see! So you have! Impressive! Very, very impressive Padawan! I am well pleased!" She took one more step backwards, then lunged forwards, laughing as she did so.
There was a rustle in the bushes behind her then that made her pause for a moment. Rustling was never a good thing to hear.
Her block this time wasn't as great; her light saber fell sideways and the plastic bonked her on the shoulder. "Apparently I need more practice!" She said, chuckling. A pause in their battle made her pay attention to the world around her again. There was rustling nearby, and her green eyes immediately shot to Millie. Oh please let there not be a youma here. Not now! The rustling got louder, the undergrowth shivering now while trying to conceal the target of both girls' attention.
Millie hesitated, taking a step away from the bushes and weeds. "Minny, I think we should practice somewhere else...It sounds...like there's some kind of animal in there, and I don't want you to get hurt..."
If it was a youma, she wasn't sure what she would do. Hopefully, Minny would run if told...after all. Millie was the Jedi Master here.
Her eyes never left the bushes, and she spoke out of the corner of her mouth. "I...think so too. What if it is a wolf or something?" She was almost certain that it wasn't a wolf, but the story of Little Red Riding Hood was tucked away in her mind. The bushes jerked and a growl escaped, making Minny jump. It was a wolf! Or a scary dog...another growl disrupted her thought process.
Millie reached into her pocket and her hand curled around her henshin pen. She figured this was going to boil down into a fight, and she would really have to protect Minny. "If it is a wolf, Minny, you gotta run okay? Run as fast as you can and get somewhere inside. I'll be right after you."
She turned to her best friend, and said "But you gotta run the same time as me!" This was a youma, it had to be. And she needed to get away from the kindof red head. Then she could henshin up and get away. Her pen was tucked away in the inside pocket of her jacket, practically humming with energy. She needed to lose Millie, and fast. "Ok I'll run now! If it's a wolf it will chase me and you can get help!" Without waiting for a response, she took off at an angle toward the bush, veering off to the right for a clump of trees that looked big enough to hide a Chibi transformation. The youma did not like its prey getting away. It leapt free of the bushes, looking much like a wolf. Its fur was a mottled black and red, and the ears twisted to listen to Millie while watching Minny, judging whether it could catch up or not.
Millie let out a noise of protest. She sighed. "Minny! Come back! Don't try and be a hero like that!" She pulled her pen out, hoping that if she transformed the youma would decide she was a much better target! She said the words, and in a few moments, Super Sailor Lenka stood where Millicent had once stood. "Stupid youma! Chase me. I'm stronger!"
The youma turned and sniffed in Lenka’s direction, recognizing a power signature, and being decidedly annoyed about it. Its target chosen, the youma ran at Lenka, opening its huge jaws and practically roaring. Minny rolled into some trees, checking to see if her friend was ok. She had heard her yelling, and didn't like it. But Millie was nowhere to be seen. Lenka was there instead! But when did she show up? She hadn't felt her arrive...this was a question to ask after the youma was gone. She ripped out her pen, and transformed into Sailor Ambrosia. She left the bushes and ran toward the youma, waving her arms to get its attention.
Lenka seemed pleased to find the youma now interested in her and summoned a watermelon rind. "This will teach you not to interrupt my training sessions with my best friend!" She drew her hand back. "Lenka boomarind!" With all her strength, she hurled the rind at the youma, though, to her horror, the creature moved out of the way.
"Darnit!" She glanced up, now seeing Ambrosia. When did she get here? "Ambrosia, can you honey this thing? I have to get my rind!"
"Sure thing!" She yelled, slowing down and calling out "Honey Shoot!" The honey ball received a swift kick that shot it towards the youma, who was slightly confused by the presence of two power signatures. Which one should it attack? The answer was none, because the honey ball smacked it in the shoulder, exploding over onto its neck and leg. The honey started hardening on impact, and son its neck was stiff and sticky, it did not like this feeling at all. Ambrosia cheered, and ran to her senshi friend, stopping at her shoulder. "Alright, your turn!"
Lenka had ran and managed to trip over a root as she lunged for the rind, and tucking herself so she managed to roll right to the rind. Scooping it up again, she threw it. "Lenka boomarind!" After the thing left her hands, she crossed her fingers, and gave a jump for joy as it hit the youma right in the face. "Yay!"
The youma snarled. This was not going very well. Its head was stuck and now battered with a watermelon rind, but its shoulder was frozen by sticky gooey honey. It struggled against the hardened honey, biting at it and thrashing. Ambrosia shouted "Are you alright?" to Lenka after watching her fall. She seemed ok, but that had to have hurt. Ambrosia ran forward, kicking the youma in the back leg and dodging the kick that it threw. "Good job with the rind!" she said, breathing heavily. She waited, then went in for another kick.
Lenka ran over and joined her fellow team member in kicking the youma, aiming for the creature's face, hoping that a few good kicks there would turn it to dust. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine! I'm surprised I did that, that felt really neat, like I was a Jedi or something!" She let out a laugh, then gave the creature one more kick, right under its jaw. "Stupid youma! Turn to dust!"
The kick under the jaw did the trick. It snarled, head lowering to the ground and suddenly its whole body shook and powdered into a pile. Ambrosia cheered, and ran to give Lenka a hug. Something about what she said made her pause. A jedi? She stepped back from the hug, giving the other chibi a strange look. "Do you like Star Wars?"
Lenka returned the hug and laughed, happy that they had gotten rid of the youma so easily. "I do like Star Wars. It's my most favorite thing in the whole world. Do you like it, Ambrosia?"
Hmmmm...she stared at Lenka, as if to see something that wasn't there. She liked Star Wars just as much as Millie...and she did show up pretty quickly after Millie and Minny parted..."I like it, and my best friend likes it too. Her name is Millie." She watched with an innocent expression waiting to see how Lenka would react.
Lenka tilted her head to the side, still smiling. This girl knew her as Millie? But...Well, she couldn't be Jett. Jett was a boy. For a moment she just stood there, smiling and then shrugged. "Well. We're on the same team, and you're my best friend too, Ambrosia..." She hesitated, then thought about herself being Millie, until she de-henshined and stood there as her normal, eleven year old self. "I'm Millie."
Her green eyes widened as Lenka transformed into Millie. She was Lenka! Ambrosia jumped up and down and then realized she was still Ambrosia. She too denhenshined, letting the magic go as she became her normal self again. "Nice to meet you Millie." She said, grinning broadly. "I'm Minny!"
Millie stared for a second, then let out a scream of delight, hugging the other girl. "Minny? Minny you're Ambrosia? You are? Oh, oh this is so cool! My best friend is a super hero...I’m a super hero with my best friend!"
Minny returned the hug with gusto, spinning the both of them around. "And I'm a superhero with my best friend! And we're even on the same team!" She heart was close to exploding. What a fun exciting surprise! Suddenly, she didn't quite feel so alone in being a senshi. Sure, she had friends that were magical, but she couldn't tell anyone in her normal life about her adventures. But now she had someone to talk to about everything! "Oh I have so much to tell you!"
"I do too!" The child was completely excited about these turn of events, this was something she had never expected. Now, instead of just protecting Minny, she could really help the girl to better protect herself. "This is just too great. You should ask your mom if you can sleep over tonight, okay? We can swap stories about everything!"
"That's a great idea!" She said, already thinking of different things to tell her about. Oh she must mention Pippin, and that mean Lesath....thoughts of her brought shivers to her back. "I will run home right now and ask her!" She dusted herself off a bit, just to make sure that she was presentable when she asked, and said "I will call your house if I can come over ok?"
"Sounds good to me! I'll go ask mom, but I'm sure she'll say yes! I'll see you soon, Minny!" The girl gave her friend one last hug, then ran off, feeling happier then she had in quite a long time. How cool was this? And how lucky. Her best friend knew her secret--and was on her very team! It was just the best thing ever!
Minny hugged back and turned to run home. She felt like she could fly there! This was just wonderful! She finally had someone to share everything with! And no they were really going to be the best team ever!
