So everybody's time zones got me thinking... I should share about where I live! I live in Maine which is a freezing cold/ scorching hot/ super muggy/ bi-polar weather state in New England, USA!

Some random cool facts about Maine!

~ Has a population of about 1.2 million people.

~ Is recognized as one of the most healthful, beautiful and interesting states in the nation.

~ Is almost as big as all of the other five New England States put together.

~ Claims America's first chartered town - York, chartered in 1641.

~ Is one of America's largest blueberry growing states, raising 90% of the low-bush blueberries in North America.

~ Potatoes rank 3rd in acreage and 4th in production nationally.

~ Is nationally famed for the fine taste, texture and fresh color of its seafood, superior traits due to all the cool, clear waters which provide the perfect environment.

~ Boasts 6,000 lakes and ponds and 5,100 rivers and streams abounding land-locked salmon, trout, small mouthed bass, pickerel and perch.

~ Has more than 25 ski areas, including nationally-known Sugarloaf USA.

~ Also! Another cool fact! The microwave was invented in Maine!

WE HAVE JOHN TRAVOLTA! John Travolta has a summer home on the island that my uncle lives on. And since my uncle is one of the very few men there that works on electricity he gets to go to Mr. Travolta's house a lot and turn the power back on, lol (Im hoping ill get to see him this summer )

Usually what attracts me to a place is food, and the way you described the food makes me really want to go visit. >w< (Especially for the seafood. =O )

Alaska has a lot of moose, but we never tried to have moose poop earrings. = w=" That's a very peculiar thought to me since I've stepped over dozens of moose poop and never thought of wearing them once. XD

Lol! Same here!!! I copied and pasted the first few facts though... lol. I do not have moose poop earrings, nor do I want them xD

When the Young Americans (A group of traveling college kids ) came to our school they asked what food they should try. We told them lobster. They laughed and said that lobster and Wicked Whoopie's Whoopie Pies were what everyone else in Maine told them to try. They said they had eaten so much lobster, lol. We also have deep fried oreos.... which I have yet to try xD

Amazing! We have incidents like those elk except with deer. (I just noticed your post here, lol xD )

The deer would do that when we lived in south-central TX. But here, we rarely see more than 2-3 deer at a time. The elk nearly always herd up like that, though. It's less common to see 1-2 than it is to see 1-10. Oddly, though, we usually only see females and babies. I've only seen a male a few times since we lived here.

I guess they like to hide. @__@

I wish I could get a good picture of the bob cat, or bear, or coyotes. A coyote got super close to the house the other day. Our dog was not pleased. xD But Shadow started barking, the Coyote instantly took off.

They're annoying when they decide to stand in your driveway and howl at 2 am.
